We recently switched dentists for my preschool daughter, and my young toddler also needed her first dentist appointment. We have a dental HMO plan and unfortunately, there are almost no pediatric practices that accept it, so we were cash pay. However, this place is pretty reasonable cash prices. It was $135 for my older daughter, and babies under 18 months get their first visit complimentary. It was slightly cheaper than a couple other nearby places, and the reviews were very positive so I decided to try it. The waiting room is small but very neat and tidy. The aesthetic is cute, and they have a few toys for kids but it's not crazy or cluttered. It's actually better that way since kids are just drawn to one or two toys instead of overwhelmed by the options. We were called back shortly after we checked in, and it wasn't very crowded that day when we went. My older daughter laid on the exam chair and they have TVs on the ceiling so she got to watch a show, which she was pleased with. The hygienist and the dentist were both great. They were informative without being patronizing, and they respected my parenting choices and offered advice that fell within the scope of my choices. For example, continuing to breastfeed my young toddler (14 months old) at nighttime does increase the risk of cavities, but they informed me that they understand the benefits of breastfeeding and that the risk increases primarily after 18 months, which was helpful to know. Another example is we discussed fluoride vs. non-fluoride toothpaste. We had been using non-fluoride especially when we have to brush teeth on the go (like trying to be on time to school), so they said if we don't do fluoride every time, then doing it at the nighttime brushing is the most helpful time of day to kill the most bacteria. I appreciated that their advice was realistic and balanced enough to recognize that parents weigh many factors when making parenting decisions, and not all decisions are 100% about good dental hygiene. For my toddlers appointment they mainly wanted to inspect her teeth, do a quick brush and apply fluoride, but it was very short. They had me hold her on my lap face up and just worked on her there. Of course my toddler screamed the entire time, but they worked fast and were sympathetic but not shocked by the behavior. Seems like they have a lot of experience! They gave both my kids stickers and each a new toothbrush at the end. It was a very positive visit and we will definitely be back! read more

We've been coming to Growing Smiles Pediatric Center since my daughter was just one year old, and I can honestly say the entire team continues to impress us at every visit. Now that she's almost 2 1/2 and becoming fiercely independent, I was especially grateful for how patient and thoughtful everyone was during our most recent appointment. I was so nervous about the possibility of my son needing to be put under anesthesia for dental work, and Kristen was incredibly kind and reassuring. Today I brought in my 3 yr old daughter and 1yr old son. For thier first visit. They had a teeth cleaning and regular inspection. Dr. Alyssa and Dr.Nicole were absolutely amazing. They were very informative, gentle, safe, and helpful. I took my 6 year old daughter for a cleaning and was very happy with the type of care our Hygienist, Alyssa, gave my daughter. My daughter was abit nervous due to a loose tooth she had but Alyssa made her feel very relaxed about it and was very gentle with her tooth.she had my daughter laughing and completely forgot how nervous she was. Please don't come here or if you do just pay attention to what they do to your kid. I'm really disappointed with this place, I brought my 6 year old son here for fillings, the first thing the nurse did was putting him the nitrous oxide gas without asking me or anything, so I told her I don't like my son having it and let's try without it so she removed it and he did amazing without it! Well I believe the doctor should always ask the parent for permission with doing such things especially for the nitrous oxide gas since it's big! And later on I realized that the nitrous oxide costs $135 and it's not covered by insurance now I know why they wanted the gas for my son. I'm not coming back to them I don't trust them anymore. read more

My experience was not a good in spite of all their good ones. I don't like to be bearer of negative news but my child's filling appointment was a nightmare!! First off, parents please know you have a CHOICE when wanting your child to have the "laughing gas" (Nitrous oxide) during their procedure! As a pediatric dentistry , one would think they have plenty of experience on how to handle kids that may be a little more squirmy and less tolerable to operate without it. I felt at the time of my child's appointment , not knowing I had a choice, it was required so I went along with it. During the filling process, there was a rubber contraption put in my child's mouth to hold it open, gas covering the nose, and tent placed in the mouth to isolate the tooth. My child ended up vomiting during the procedure and there was a delayed response in assisting the situation to where there could have been a very bad outcome! Nose plugged, throat stopped up with vomit, mouth stuck open with rubber contraption, and child drowsy! Thankful we made it out that day but will not be returning. I hope for a better experience for you and your child! read more

The only dentist my kids have ever known and were comfortable with retired after 40 years in practice. Being in search of a new dentist for my kids, Growing Smiles came highly recommended to me by a friend. Cleanliness is a huge factor for me, and this place is sparkling and beautiful. The Lobby area is colorful and has lots of things for your kids to do while they wait. There are even TV's on the ceiling for the kids to watch a movie/show while their dental work is being done. The staff are thorough in explaining what they are going to do with the tools they use before they do it, and even ask multiple times during the process of the visit if the patients are ok or need anything. Dr. Laura is a mom herself and I believe that is what makes her empathy so genuine and clearly shows in the way she cared for my daughter and her other patients. As a parent you always want to find the best care for your child be it medical or dental. If you are like me, you spend hour upon hour reading reviews from multiple sites, hoping to find one provider that sits right in your gut based on opinions from complete strangers. My only regret is that we did not find Dr. Laura/Growing Smiles sooner and highly, highly recommend this practice! read more

Dr. Nicole was also wonderful; we got a lot of information and very holistic advice on good dental habits and cavity prevention. Lots of actionable stuff that we can definitely control, and I had no idea about--like crackers and other low sugar snack foods causing cavities.
