She's also treated my mom, who has severe anxiety about dental work, and somehow she makes her feel completely at ease every time. I recently needed a crown and was able to get a last-minute appointment--huge thanks to the office staff for being so accommodating. After a deeper dive, I chose University Park Dental. I was not disappointed as my son and I have received excellent care. From the office manager and hygienists to the dentists themselves, all are amiable, accommodating, and gentle. The office is well appointed, clean, and each room is airy with gentle music playing in the background. Additional comfort measures are offered for those of us who have a dentist phobia ;-). As far as upselling, that's a natural part of dentistry, but I did not find any due influence being exerted. I also appreciate prepaying for upcoming services as I know in advance the procedures that will be performed and that payment is taken care of prior to the next appointment. WARNING TO ANYONE CONSIDERING THIS DENTIST: This place was an absolute nightmare. They told me procedures weren't covered by my insurance when they actually were, and pushed me to open a Care Credit account to pay for unnecessary work. They even argued with me about whether I ever had a root canal--then my X-rays proved I did. Completely incompetent. It gets worse. They drilled massive holes between my front teeth, and the filling they put in fell out in less than 48 hours. Because of the damage they caused, I now have to get a veneer. Their work was careless, sloppy, and honestly reckless. If you value your teeth, your money, and your sanity, avoid this office at all costs. read more

I got broken / cracked crowns replaced at UP dental and been thrte for dental cleaning a few times , here is my review: - the billing lady makes all kinds of excuses to charge you upfront, claiming the insurance doesn't cover the specific procedure you need, and then when you get an statement confirming the claim paid, she never calls you to adjust the payment, took me several calls and I had to go to the office to get my money back. - male dentist always uses a black glove that smells like tire isle at Walmart - hygienist ladies are not friendly at all, seems like they are working for free - the doctors are good sales agents always try to make you buy something, kept pushing to purchase clear liners for $300 after an old crowd came out so that the adjacent tooth doesn't move or loose alignment or something like this.... Dr. Parsangi is the most thoughtful and competent dentist I have ever had...which is saying something after 50 years of troublesome teeth. She takes the time to explains my situation, never trying to upsell me needless procedures. When something needs to be take care of, she does so with the utmost skill and expertise. I have been going to this dental office for a few years. The office is clean, the staff is friendly and overall everything seems pleasant. The problem with this office is how my dental care has been handled. I normally go in for my cleanings every 6 months. In the last few years when I go for a cleaning the only thing they do is polish my teeth, the dentist takes about 5 minutes to look around my mouth, says everything looks good, and I'm done. At first I was a little shocked that that's all that happened, but was happy that I didn't need more care. The next time, same thing! This time I raise the question...is that it??? They polish my teeth, the dentist comes in and pokes around for max of 5 minutes and says everything looks great! Once again, I'm relieved that I don't need more and that my teeth are in such great shape! Next cleaning... same thing!!! Now I'm concerned. I even ask the hygienist if they are going to actually clean my teeth, not just polish them. She said this is normal. Well, I decided that I should get another opinion and made an appointment with a new dentist (who doesn't take my insurance and paid out of pocket). Boy was I shocked when he told me that my teeth looked like I hadn't had a cleaning in a few years! My new dentist did a thorough exam and the cleaning took an hour! This is what I am accustomed to! A thorough cleaning and polish afterward, then the dentist gave his seal of approval! I'm so disappointed in myself that I didn't take charge of the situation sooner...I knew something was not right, but allowed it to continue. Dr. Magnami should be ashamed of himself for what he allows to be passed off as a cleaning in his practice. There is NO cleaning, just polishing and off you go! I am happy to pay out of pocket for my new dentist!!! read more

As soon as I stepped inside, I felt really welcomed. The girl in the front desk was really nice. I think her name was Abi? Anyways, DR. Parsangi is really really nice. She knows what she is doing and recommended me the best way to take care of my teeth. I came from a chain dentistry before coming here and they told me that I had 3 cavities that needed to be filled. After a check up from Dr. Parsangi, she told me that I didn't have any cavities. She then told me that some dentists like to replace older grey fillings to white fillings. Which means you spend more money. Both dental assistants were awesome as well (Celia and Tanya). They were very helpful. Unfortunately, I did not have a good experience. Dr. Parsangi did a great job of doing a root canal and the crown. However, Tania and Dr. Maghami created a hell for me over months. Tania who does insurance claims lied to me that my insurance would cover my treatments, so I had to file a claim against the dentist from my insurance. I received more than a thousand back from my insurance company out of a thousand and five hundreds paid to the dentist. On the other hand, Dr. Maghami does not consult very well. He referred me to do a root canal on my wisdom tooth when another dentist consulted much better and explained to me that doing a root canal on my wisdom tooth would be a very bad investment. I was in pain for months while trying to fix the problems with this dentist. I emailed them about this and did not receive anything in return. I doubt they learn from their mistakes and I hope this comment helps them. read more

I went for a teeth cleaning a few times. I expected an Registered Dental Hygienist to do an hour appointment. Instead I received a 15 minute cleaning and 10 minute polishing and 5 minute flossing by a male dentist. Poor job. I complained and got the hygienist the next time and was satisfied with a standard cleaning, polishing and flossing. My wife had a aggressive, painful cleaning by a female dentist this month. The assistant did a normal polishing and flossing. No RDH available. I requested an RDH for my appointment and was told to find another dentist. Seems like they don't like their skills questioned. An RDH has two years training and a dentist has two months training in hygiene. Would you accept a general doctor for specialty surgery? Who do you think is more qualified to cleaning teeth, an RDH or DDS? Decide at your own risk! read more

Really bad experience today. Told me after the fillings that I need to do the crown. Otherwise my tooth will crack. Hmmm, because the filling was did on the same tooth I had before. But why you don't tell me beforehand, then I could decide for my treatment. Does this should be the responsibility from a dentist?!!! I knew having cavities not your fault, but I should know all the information and all the possibilities before I did the fillings. Not responsible at all!!! Took my three year old daughter here because this is where our insurance sent us. We waited for about 30 minutes in the waiting room. The hygienist was really nice; introduced herself to my three year old, demonstrated what she was going to do and what all the tools were. The cleaning went super fast. Once the dentist came in, I was a bit more disappointed. She didn't introduce herself and wasn't very kid friendly. After we were back in the car my daughter told me that she had been scared and didn't want to go again. Overall, it was an alright experience. For adults it's probably ok but I would not recommend for pediatric dentistry. We have been to a pediatric dentist before with a different insurance plan, and my daughter was not afraid then. I would give 3 stars except every time I've been here I've spent a minimum of an hour in waiting time.
