I really think its complete bs when you're charged a $4 "convenience fee" just to print off a label that doesn't cost more than a few cents to print. Everything is digital now, most people don't have printers at home. It's in the Lamp Post Inn shopping center, near Trader Joe's, and parking is usually easy there. You can send things via postal mail or UPS, buy packaging, and make copies. The big draw is great prices on color copies. Some places charge 50 cents or even close to a buck per page, but you can get 39 cent color copies at Parcel Plus. read more

I understand that shipping doesn't always go as planned. And when it doesn't it sucks. I lucked out and thank Sam for the amazing job. I had a huge shipment of a bunch of stuff from my parents house in Ann Arbor that I was shipping to California. Everything from antique heavy AF mirrors and artwork that had been passed down in my family to a basket of notes from me in 7th grade. It was a hot summer day and all I wanted to do was to unload this stuff and get to the lake house! I created a section of my stuff to ship in the back of his store and just left it and he was going to provide a quote. NOTHING was packed. My last words to him were, just pack everything so it doesn't break and ship it slowly which I thought it would be less expensive. He provided my a quote within hours, and while I gulped at the price, I knew it was fair. He also said it would be cheaper to send on a palette and deliver to a work address. So we did that as well. Four months later, I am finally getting around to unwrapping the shipment and I am so impressed --it must have taken him HOURS to pack. It was pro job. read more

DO NOT GO HERE FOR USPS SERVICES! The man at the desk was friendly enough, but when he wouldn't put the postage on the envelopes I gave him to weigh ("I'll do it later," he said shiftily), my spidey senses went off. It was only afterward that I checked the receipt and saw that he charged me $16.65 for a book of stamps that should have cost $11.60. When I called him afterward, he admitted that he not only added the $5 surcharge for the stamps but also "about $2-3 for each of your letters, if I remember correctly." WTF??? (Note: the receipt only says "mailing"; or "stamp sheet"; no surcharge is shown.) Perhaps this is a good place if you need packages sent, but for plain old USPS service, this is a complete scam. read more

Here's something sort of funny. Before I started school and put myself on a more strict budget lockdown, I went a little wild with the online shopping sites. Of course, some items didn't fit or weren't just what I'd envisioned, and so I returned them... ...which meant that I had a lot of store credits for online purchases this year. I've taken advantage of Gilt and RueLaLa sales from time to time, and also treated myself to a new swimsuit from ModCloth. One of the annoying parts of shopping online, however, is the process of returning things that aren't quite right. If you drop off a package with a pre-paid Fed-Ex label, it's likely that spot won't have a UPS box as well. At retail outlets, it's often just one of the three. Of course there's USPS in the mix too. The thing that I really appreciate about Ann Arbor Pack 'n' Mail is that you can ship things (pre-paid or not) via FedEx, UPS OR USPS. So if you have several different boxes, you don't have to drive around to different places to mail them. Handily enough, it's also located in the same complex as Trader Joe's, which is certainly convenient. The staff are always exceptionally friendly, too, which I appreciate. read more

I needed to drop off a shipment for DHL with pre-printed labels and customs documents. The shipment was in a box, taped, and ready to go. The friendly worker helped me get the documents by showing me where to sign and folding them up to place into a plain, unmarked document pouch that she stuck to the box. When I went to leave, she informed me that the plain unmarked document pouch was going to cost me $2.00! I ship all the time with UPS, FedEx, USPS, and never have I been charged for shipping supplies! I'm certain DHL would provide these shipping supplies free of charge to their customers, so not sure why Arbor Pack N Mail would only have plain unmarked pouches on hand, to then charge $2.00 for a $.10 plastic label/document pouch. I left feeling like somehow I had been ripped off just for shipping a DHL package with a pre-printed label. read more

I don't think I'll be back simply because they were going to charge me $9 for a package that cost $3.19 to mail from Meijer(!!) Both carriers were USPS Media Mail so what accounts for the extra $6? I had used ArborPackNMail several years ago to ship some packages across country via UPS. Their packing and customer service were truly great. Because of this prior experience, I drove way across town to use them again to obtain my passport photo. Unfortunately, it was not a great experience. I was immediately pressured purchase the owner's entire package-- getting my photo done, re-doing my passport application, paying for priority mail service. I learned later that because this priority mail service I didn't want from APNM had to be mailed on the date APNM printed on the priority mail sticker, it was a useless as well as unwanted expenditure. $35.00 later (for the passport photo, with no option to have them re-taken (the photo was not great--one shot only--no choice) plus another $24.00 for an unusable priority mail "sticker"-- I was out $60.00. It would never have cost me $24.00 at USPS. I checked. Perhaps the owner experienced a severe downturn in business during the pandemic. I am being charitable. His charm (and passive aggressive actions) were wasted on me. I told him I only wanted the photo taken. He ignored me. He continued to process my "priority mail" after I declined the service. I decided not to fight him, and paid him and left. (It had been a long day, I was caught off-guard, never expected I would need to be ready to argue to actually get the service I requested, and not a bunch of add-ons.) Never going back there again. I hope he goes back to offering the fine service I enjoyed at his business about 5 years ago. I won't be checking in with him to see if his hard-sell attitude has dissipated however. And I'm getting the photo redone. And I had to rip up that "priority mail" sticker. Post office told me it was useless the next day. I don't enjoy speaking poorly of a service I previously thought highly of. But this was over the top pressure, and failure to listen to what a customer actually ORDERED. read more

He knew just by looking at the number! Then he instructed me on how to go about getting a valid account number and took the time to explain why it was invalid and how to prevent this sort of thing in the future. Very bad experience, I asked for prices to send a package to Mexico and the answer was "too expensive if they (Mexicans) don't steal it" also he suggested "why you don't send money better". Not going there again. They've got a USPS logo up on their sign, but if you go in and ask to buy stamps for something, they charge a premium beyond post office prices. I understand that they're allowed to charge extra for handling, but they are sneaky about it. There's no sign posted that it will cost extra, and they won't explain straightforwardly why it costs more. Why can't they just say "there's a service charge when you mail here" instead of long irrelevant explanations about how some envelopes are bigger than others. I've used Pack n Mail mostly because I could return boxes for FedEx, UPS, and USPS at the same time. I've also shipped a few boxes from here too. Customer service: hit and miss. Sometimes it's great, sometimes it's okay, and sometimes it's downright rude. Once I paid to ship a box but because I hadn't fully taped it up, they made me buy a $3 roll of tape before they let me spend $15 mailing the box. I understand that the tape costs the business some money, but so do all the other fixed costs of their business and I feel like this should be built into their business model. My final straw was today, though, when they told me there was a $1 per box surcharge for every PREPAID box for the USPS. This is ridiculous. They said, "we have to drive it over there and it takes time." I understand that it takes time, however, if they are already driving to the post office to drop off the paid shipments, I don't understand why I should be charged extra for this. I had a terrible experience this week. I went to use their notary service (which online says would be $10 per signature). I went in to have an I9 filled out. The gentleman at the counter told me that it would be $20 (yet only one signature was required). He also told me that the notary stamp was not required. He was wrong. I received a call from human resources stating that not only did he need to use the stamp, he didn't fill out his information correctly (like no full name or address of where he works). Decent Quality, but Expensive and Sneaky with price. As things go, Arbor Pack N Mail is about what you would expect from a small business, their business model being similar to that of other local groups: set up shop near a relatively high traffic location - in their case a Trader Joe's - and hope that when customers see they can get their packing and mailing needs taken care of just a few stores down, that said customers will be willing to pay extra for the convenience. This is the tried and true method all small businesses use to survive, and while there's nothing wrong with it in theory, Arbor Pack N Mail proves that in practice this idea is not always implemented in a way that is fair to the customer. Let me tell you my story: I was walking out of Trader Joe's a while ago and saw their sign as I was unloading my groceries into my car, as it turned out I needed to ship something and figured that I'd at least walk in and see what they were like. When I did, I saw one person behind the counter and a line about 5 people long, this person was a young man, and looked like he was a student at one of the local colleges, his name was Tom. Tom was incredibly nice and efficient with all the customers he had, and, to my surprise, in about 7 minutes he got to me - an efficiency that would put your average post office employee to shame. When he quoted me a price for my package it seemed a little high, he then kindly explained about how they charge more at their location for their services. So no harm, no foul; like I said before, I get it. I decided to go ahead and let Tom pack and ship the item for me, and the person I sent it to was very impressed with how well the item had been packed. So overall, I paid a little extra, but the friendly service and great job on packing seemed worth it.....at the time anyway. Fast Forward to a few weeks later, and I had another item I needed shipped. Now, just to avoid the same price shock I had last time, I went ahead and looked up some shipping quotes online. I was on my way home from work and decided that I'd stop by and see what they would charge me, since my experience had been so positive the last time. When I got there, I saw a similar scenario: one guy, this time an older one, and a few customers in line. This guy was about as fast as Tom, and he got to me in no time, his name was Sam, and from what I could tell he was the owner of the place. Like Tom, Sam was very nice and efficient with the customers he had, but unlike Tom, Sam apparently knew these customers personally, at least that's what I gathered, so it didn't seem that unusual that he took a little longer getting to me than Tom did. When Sam did get to me he was very business oriented, and a little less than friendly, but I chalked it up to the fact that he didn't know me and that he was the (apparent) owner of the place. When Sam gave me a price quote I was shocked, he wanted to charge me nearly 3 times what I had been quoted online! A 25% markup I get, even a 50% markup I can understand, but a 200% markup!? To make it even worse, this Sam person gave me excuse after excuse about how "shipping to certain locations carry a premium over others" and that his prices "were predetermined by the carriers", when I called him on how his prices were nothing but service charges he still refused to admit to it, and instead told me to try one of the carriers directly, I told him that went without saying and stormed out. I can only guess that if your a recurring client, and the owner gets to know you personally, that he gives you some kind of discount, otherwise most of his clientele must consist of ignorant college kids and people with enough disposable income to value familiarity over his ridiculously high prices. Honestly, my experience with Tom is the only reason why I'm giving this place as high a rating as I am - It's really sad when the employee is more honest, and does more to help you out than the owner. I will definitely NOT be using them again. read more

I started renting a box here when I was new to town and needed an address where I could reliably receive mail and packages since my home address was not so reliable. After doing some research, I settled on APNM and I'm glad I did. Absolutely no sign that states they charge a surcharge (it's about a $2 surcharge per package) and they lied about delivery times to me - guarantee 2 days delivery when they're actually sending it by UPS ground. In addition, I was sitting there with my own packaging materials, ready to pack my items into the box that I purchased for them, even asking them if I could use the materials, and they said no, it was fine. Another nice $2 surcharge per package added to my receipt that I didn't realize until I came home. Will not be going to them again except to drop items off. read more

Always a good experience. I go here anytime I need to ship something so that I can find the cheapest option to get my packages where they need to go. They email me my receipt including tracking information so it is easy to forward to whomever is expecting the package. I have never had bad service as mentioned in previous comments. Very bad experience. Shipped package UPS damaged in transit. UPS threw my stuff away. Arbor Pack and Ship did not call me I had to call them. They said they would research and call me back. 3 days later I emailed them to start the claim. They denied claim could be submitted for improper packaging. Problem is there were items in the package non breakable that were discarded. While prices from the beginning started with poor service. I should have walked out and used another provider. read more
