Dr. Brad Golner is truly one of a kind. We are so grateful to have him as our pediatrician for all three of our kids. He always takes the time to really listen, understand, and connect with each child on a personal level. You can see how much he genuinely cares, and that compassion makes all the difference, especially as a parent. Dr. Golner and his entire team go above and beyond every single visit. I don't know why I continue to go to this practice. Both offices have horrible billing ethics. My daughter is seen by a specialist since birth for her genetic disorder. Every time I take her in for her preventive visit with vaccines which should be no cost I get a "sick visit" code added and sent a bill. The first time I was told it was because it took more of the drs time to inform her of her genetic disorder. So since then I never bring it up. Well a month ago she went in for her vaccines and visit and here we are again when I told the dr when he asked about her management I mentioned she's being seen and I'm being billed by her specialist.. and today I get a bill that a "sick visit" code was added.. this is disgusting. Imagine that copay cuts into someone's grocery budget.. we discussed her brother's skin issues more in detail and didn't get a bill for him. I will no longer be going here. I have avoided all well visits for this reason. read more

This location does not care about its employees at all. They allow parents to speak rudely & put down employees. They allow parents to out right lie about employees even though there are witnesses. They fire employees to make customers happy. They are only concerned about keeping customers & making money. I wouldn't want a company like this to see my children. read more

Our 6 year old has been their patient receiving quality passionate care. Her fears of doctors from another practice have been minimized with seeing "her funny or silly doctor" here. The MA is so patient and kind with her. Kathy, the NP saw her last month for a sinus infection. As a Pediatric RN myself, the care was appropriate per standards. My son is a 19-year-old critical care patient at Phoenix Pediatrics (Desert Ridge) and has had the same physician since he was two years old. He has a congenital heart defect, a seizure disorder, and level III nonverbal autism. Hence, my son spends more time at Phoenix Children's than most of their patients combined. We see two specialists there, and we had multiple hospitalizations last year. All we needed from his primary care physician was a referral for a foot x-ray because he's been limping sporadically, and when I called the office to make an appointment, they told me that they hadn't seen him since 2016 and that he would need a well check. So the crux of the story is this: we arrived 12 minutes late for our 11am appointment, so the receptionist promptly proceeded to call the nurse manager, Julene Kerr, who I later discovered was working at their other location. I could hear the belligerent tone in her voice as she told the receptionist that my son was absolutely not going to be seen by a physician. I argued the matter, as any good special-needs parent would, because we know that if we are not dogged and pro-active, our children are not treated fairly in the healthcare system or society at large. All the while, I could see my son's physician, who had no patients at the time, and so I asked to speak to the nurse manager on the phone, and when I did, she was cold and belligerent with me as well. Mind you, there is no lateness policy anywhere on their website, and I have never been to a physician's office that refused to see me or my son for being 12 minutes late for our scheduled appointment time. Again, I demanded to speak to the nurse manager in person, not knowing that she was at another location, and I refused to leave until I was able to. That was when she told the receptionist to tell me that I needed to leave or else they would call the police--in fact, the receptionist, upon the nurse manager's urging, threatened to call the police twice. This was easily the most egregious thing that's ever happened to me at a medical facility (or anywhere), and I have spent more than my fair share of time at medical facilities with my son. I am direct, outspoken, strong-willed, and intelligent. I am an educator and a community activist. I never disrespect (or assign blame to) those who are not responsible for poor service or treatment. The receptionist was clearly shaken by the situation, and for that, I felt remorse. She eventually sided with me, saying she didn't understand why there was no 12-15 minute grace period, especially given our unique situation and considerations. Again, all we needed was a referral for a foot x-ray. Of course, we still have to navigate an appointment with the cardiologist and the neurologist this summer, not to mention DDD appointments every 90 days. In short, despite the wonderful physicians, we won't be returning to Phoenix pediatrics. If there's a nurse manager who doesn't bother to read the patients' charts and makes snap decisions without any regard for the level of care that some of these patients require, or the wrangling that it takes to get them to the office in the first place, then we will seek care elsewhere, for better or worse. We won't be disrespected in a culture that already barely recognizes our personhood. read more

So I want to say that our experience with doctor was amazing. He worked us in on a holiday weekend when my daughter was three days old and having an issue. The hospital wouldn't release us without the appointment, so I was very grateful. Our problem has been with the billing. Our appointment was on a Saturday of New Year's weekend. I had both my insurance card and ID, but was told I had to pay for the visit up front because they "couldn't confirm the coverage." They made me leave a credit card at the front desk while we were with the doctor. I thought it was odd and it made me a bit uncomfortable, but I was also absolutely desperate to confirm my three day old baby was okay. I was assured they would charge my insurance and reimburse me. Fast forward two months, I get over my sleep deprivation and realize they never reimbursed me. I call. They never billed my insurance. The man I spoke to was very nice and assured me someone at the front desk had messed up. He assured me a check would come. Another month goes by. No check. I check my insurance statement. The claim was paid. I call. I speak to the same man who tells me a woman handles the refunds. She calls me back--"The doctor has to sign the refund checks. You'll have it by the end of the week." That was a month ago. So basically four months have gone by and this pediatrician's office has collected for the visit from both me and my insurance company. I appreciate that the doctor's primary responsibility is to deliver patient care and I have no complaints there, but the doctors also set office policy and for better or worse are running a business. I feel like my desperation to make sure my daughter was healthy was exploited. I was treated like I was going to duck out on my bar tab in the office and have basically been double billed at this point. I have better things to do (like bond with my baby) than call the office every week and hassle them for my refund. At this point, I've complained to my insurance company and plan to file a complaint with my credit card company to get a refund, but it is really ridiculous that it has come to this. read more

Appalling!! I set an appointment on Monday and took my daughter on Tuesday for an immediate issue. When I arrived I provided the new insurance information effective for Jan 2023. The front office ladies informed me they needed two days to verify insurance I would have to pay for the entire visit...PLUS the well exam. I am a benefits administrator and I know insurance can be verified quickly via the carrier site or over the phone. They refused to verify the insurance and the only way to have the doctor see my daughter ( who has been going there for years) I was to pay for both visits at $160 out of pocket. I didn't even have the choice to pay for her immediate visit to fix her health issue. I took my daughter to urgent care and have a new Pedeatrician. BEWARE...this office cares more about the money than the health of your child. read more

Dr. Bradley Golner has been our 2 year olds PCP since he was born, and I couldn't be more impressed, with him and his office. We chose Dr. Golner because my Aunt referred us, and after seeing how the doctors had interacted with my cousins, I knew it was for us. Our son was diagnosed with hydrocephalus and we have been given the most amazing referrals and treatment possible. Also, I was shocked to find that there are some pediatricians that will not accept home birth patients, and this office welcomed us with open arms, along with performed a very simple plastibell circumcision. The office staff have always been very accommodating, I've never had any issues with billing, and I'm sad to see such terrible reviews. I've been so happy with every doctor and nurse we've seen here, and I couldn't imagine taking our boy anywhere else. Thank you doctors and staff of Phoenix Pediatrics! Really like this place! They know how to relate to kids. Always calling my daughter 'Princess' and speaking to her on her level. Like any dr's office, they can get behind from time-to-time so having the play area in the waiting room is really nice. The only reason for my rating is the accounting team for this office. I was being hit with charges for visits that happened over six months before I received the bill, and once I inquired I realized that they had not yet reached out to my insurance company. This was irritating. What made it worse was that the person that I spoke with was always irritable and cranky right off the bat so was of very little assistance. I believe his name was Andrew. Andrew also did the scheduling and ended up making it so that we had to go to the doctor twice that week, as he had not scheduled us for a time when an actual pediatrician was present to perform my son's circumcision. Yes, I said it. As if the running around to the one visit with a newborn wasn't stressful enough, we got to do it twice that week. I will say, however, once you make it past the front desk, you are certainly more at ease. Nick Goodman is such a kind, soft spoken doctor and my kids loved him. If we ever saw anyone different, they were always kind and informative. They spent as much time with us as we needed. The PA's, nurses and pediatricians definitely make this place, but if I were them I might do some 'sensitivity' training with the front desk staff. read more

Received a letter in the mail stating they will no longer see my kids for the following reason: "YOUR EXPECTATIONS EXCEED WHAT WE ARE REASONABLY ABLE TO PROVIDE". Yes, my expectation was to be billed ACCURATELY and in a TIMELY fashion. My expectation was for my child not to be denied a SICK visit over a false balance owed FROM 2016. My expectation was to receive a return phone call from BELMA after going over in detail NUMEROUS billing errors. My expectation was to receive a return phone call from SUSAN who denied my child being seen by his doctor. The sad thing is Dr. Golner was great but the incompetent staff who do not care about the patients have ruined this place. I have been taking my son here for 7 years now. The entire staff is always attentive, they typically have appointments available when you call and your child is sick and their physicals have always been very thorough. I love they have two sides to the their office - sick door and healthy door. They also have Saturday hours at their other location, so that is useful if you need them. They do a lot of newborn/new parent education. The doctors and staff are always friendly, they truly do like what they do and they do a great job. read more

They need to update their MA's/ "operators". Waiting on hold for a MINIMUM of 10 minutes (up to 15) just to schedule an appointment is insane. I made 4 different calls, at various times of the day. Not professional establishment at all, particularly the union hills office. I had to get my kids forms signed and they made it so difficult to get. Making me wait for 1plus hour and repeatedly telling me to come back later when they could have spent that time to get the job done. Later I got a letter stating that they cannot provide services as " your expectation far exceed what we are reasonably able to provide". This is ridiculous, as providing a signed form is something they cannot provide in a reasonable time then what else can be expected from this establishment for child medical care. Do yourself a favor and a big favor to your child and find a better Doctor and medical establishment which cares for your child and does not stop providing services at a drop of a hat. The letter to stop providing services to my children was signed by Dr Kevin Berger, MD FAAP. Thanks Dr Kevin for being a doctor and refusing to treat children. Dr. Kevin Berger has always been my go to physician. Great staff. NP's are exceptional. Sorry to say our last child just graduated from the pediatrician and we are sad to have to find an adult PCP. The Doctors in this office have always been great with my kids however the billing department and front desk need to get it together and get in sync!! I have been repeatedly billed incorrectly and the last time I called to "pay out of pocket" for My kids immunizations because my new insurance policy did not cover any visits for the first 6 months, I was told $160. Got to the office and got them, was then charged $220 for the shots and told I was not "paying out of pocket" I was just "underinsured" when i called the office to see why they had over charged me. The front desk had already spoken to my insurance company when i arrived for my visit that day and told me they did not cover anything for the first 6 months. I agreed to have the immunizations and then "pay out of pocket" for the services anyway. Apparently the "out of pocket" and "underinsured"prices are different. Either way, I paid it. Then I just got a bill for $200 for the same visit that they tried to submit to my insurance and it got kicked back to them unpaid as they already knew it would, and so they billed it to me!! They new from the start my insurance would not cover this. Why would they do that? And then try to bill me ? I have called the office twice and still no resolve on this...... I also just got a bill from my sons circumcision over a year ago that they approved my insurance for, and supposedly told me the remaining upfront the cost on!! A year later? This type of thing has happened on more than one occasion. Please be upfront with people when they ask the cost and want to pay. Too bad I can no longer take my kids here because I do not trust their billing tactics:( Be ware. Good doctor, poor office staff, billing team. read more

They are very accommodating w/ scheduling (very important w/ kids), super friendly, and provide great care with practical advice (no defensive medicine here). my son was a patient there since he was born and he's now a teenager...my son has been chronically sick for the last 4 years but their doctors just kept telling us that he was building his immunity and refused to conduct any further testing... also i initially had a main carrier insurance and secondary during that time but when i lost my job and only had the secondary, they made me a cash patient...even after coordinating the benefits with the secondary insurance and getting their bills paid, they still insisted on me paying cash up front... after missing weeks of school and sports and struggling with a diminished quality of life, we finally found a pediatrics office that cares more about the patient than $$$$...Dr. G. They are on time or close to it, we've never had to wait more than a few minutes past out appointment time. They also have sick appointments on Saturdays. They have always been easy to work with and accommodating. We have a special needs son and they have been great with records requests and referrals with little to no hassle and are timely. I used this facility for many years and everything was fine up until a few days ago. I do not have insurance and I needed to have my son seen for an injured shoulder. I have never had a problem getting my kids in for a limited evaluation but all of the sudden, since they had not seen my son in 2 years, I had to get a whole wellness check up. When I first called, the gentleman I spoke with told me "no problem, we can take a look at his shoulder. It'll be $52.00". Awesome!! However (and stupid me for not booking the appointment with him) I called back to reserve the opening and all of the sudden, my son needs a full workup and the price jumps to $118. Ok, still not so bad but I don't get why he needs the full work up. Alas, the day of the appointment rolls around and I am checking my son in. I tried again to see if by chance we could just focus on the shoulder and not the wellness as he has had his physicals and vaccinations are all in order. The lady at the front said no. I said ok and just to see, I asked "how much will this be?" She breaks out her calculator and said $175. I was confused and asked why does it keep going up?! She said the charge for $118 for the wellness exam PLUS another exam charge for his shoulder which bumped up the price. Does that make sense to anyone else? You are going to do a whole, comprehensive check up and a separate one for a shoulder?! Needless to say, I left. I was able to get my son in at a different location for $46 and just to look at his shoulder (and yes this was a doctor's office I took him to, not urgent care). It just put such a bad taste in my mouth. I'm not asking for special treatment but I ask for fairness. I work in the medical field as well and sometimes it's about having a heart and some compassion. This place does not reflect either of those qualities. Shame on you Phoenix Pediatrics!!! read more

I've been taking my two son's to the Tatum and Union Hills location since birth and am very happy with them. I have seen every Dr in their group and am comfortable with all of them. The front desk and nurses are very friendly and really relate to the kids. My son loves going to the Dr because of this place! Whoever said the waiting room smells? What? I am sooo picky when it comes to cigarette smoke and I never once thought the place smelled. Maybe a customer smelled and left the area smelling... but its not like it always smells. Its always very clean when I'm there. And with 2 kids, I'm there quite often! Also, I've NEVER waited more than 10 mins to see a Dr! I've even called them at 4pm trying to get my sick kid in, the Dr said he'd wait for me, as I couldn't get there until after 5pm, when the close. The location is actually out of the way for me, but I won't switch! read more

My family and I are highly impressed with the care our children have received at Phoenix Pediatrics. My son has been seen by most of the physicians in the office, all of which have been very welcoming and knowledgeable. Dr.Curley, Dr.Gutman, and Dr.Goodman have always been open minded about my concerns for my son, and they are quick to retrieve referrals when necessary. The scheduling department has offered same day appointments on more than occasion and squeezed us in last minute. We have never had any issues with the staff at the Desert Ridge Location and I am very pleased with the quality of care this office gives. read more

Dr. and his P.A. gave my ex husband (on phone) and me (in person) 2 completely conflicting opinions. When I asked them to acknowledge that the PA issued me a differing opinion the office manager actually told me "I don't know what you think you heard " and tried to tell me I was lying. I had a witness with me at the appointment. The office mgr. didn't realize that. I also recorded a phone call in which the dr. admitted that he did not examine my child, nor had he even spoken to the PA regarding the exam and her conclusion before he gave my ex husband a different diagnosis and medical recomendation. In this same call he also dismisses extreme child abuse and said that "something must have gotten into him" when speaking about the abuser. Horrifying. I asked to speak with someone about the inconsistences and my concerns and instead of admitting what they have done they tried to put the blame back on me and told me I misheard the diagnosis. Thank goodness I had a witness and recorded the call. The inconsistency, unprofessionalism, lack of accountability and incompetence do not allow me to ever recomend this practice. read more

Love this place. We've been taking our boy here for about 9 months now (since he was born.) They didn't offer services to the hospital I was at (but that should have changed by now.) We tried a majority of the doctors there and settled on Dr Gutman. She's amazing with our boy and very down to earth. The staff here are always friendly and helpful. read more

This place needs to find different billing people!!! They tried charging me twice for the same visit. I paid my bill then 2 months later I get another bill for the same visit!! I would not recommend this place! I paid again and 6 months later they did it again. Another bill for the same visit! If you are looking for a pleasant place to bring your children, do not choose this one. This review is about whomever the man was behind the desk, answering the phone this afternoon, March 30th, 2018 at 4:23pm. My daughters, step brothers, mother called in regards to her son (4 months old) who was in the ER lastnight with an 103 fever, upper respiratory infection and a severe stomach virus, as a concerned mother wondering if she should go back to the ER or if this office could get him in asap today to check on why he isn't getting any better, if not worse, or keeping down the pedialyte the hospital requested he drink due to him being dehydrated and not making any wet diapers. The man on the phone RUDELY stated "i'm pretty sure hospitals give discharge instructions" As if she isn't already freaking out because her son is EXTREMELY sick, in the ER all night, and still so young, this man thinks it's okay to be sarcastic, blow her off, and make a joke out of it. Mind you, the discharge papers did in fact say to follow up with this pediatrician office WITHIN 5 DAYS. If you are going to work in a pediatric office, your job is to deal with healthy and sick children and their parents. NOT to blow off concerned mothers just worried about their children. because of this man, you will be losing a client, and even more potential clients, as we both will NOT be recommending this office. i myself am very glad i do not take my daughter here. this is not the first issue at this location either. read more

We have been going to Phoenix Pediatrics for all of my 14 year old child's life without any issues at the Desert Ridge office (Union Hills) location since they have been there, previously by Abrazo Scottsdale Campus Hospital (Paradise Valley Hospital). However I had another child 15 months ago and have had nothing but issues with the billing and office staff since. They have a huge issue with lack of concern, no responses and no proper customer service what so ever! FYI - The office looks nothing like the pictures they have posted, they have removed all items (books, tables, chairs and play items are gone) except the walls of the play areas. We have seen all the doctors in the practice, of course we have our favorites, and if we only had to deal the doctors I believe we would be staying with this practice. However they have a HUGE disconnect from the office staff. I feel that the staff are not properly presenting the doctors or the practice as they should which in turn affects the well-being and service that my child, or any child for that matter deserves. So sadly we will be finding a new Pediatrician. read more

I would highly suggest not taking your child here. The front office staff and providers are great, however the manager is extremely unhelpful and unwilling to work with people even in emergency situations. I have also signed several releases that are no where to be found in my child's chart. I am actually sad because I loved the PA Nick there and what happened today I will never return. I had a well check for my 3 year old and mentioned a anxiety/fear she developed while making the appt to discuss this with the pediatrician and when I arrived at the appt they told me it's considered a sick visit......apparently they can charge for that according to my insurance but how they (the manager Julene Kurv Kurr??? The lady at the front desk had bad hand writing) told the front desk lady if I were to talk about anything related to sleep then they will charge me....so I told her you can cancel my daughters appt and just left. If you're not going to care for my child as much as I care about mine then you are nothing to me. It's said the PA I loved so much won't be able to see our kids anymore because the manager had to make her office a negative environment and I felt attacked as a mom.
