The beds were not made, the floor was filthy, the bathroom was disguisting, toothbrushes left behind from another resident and the toilet seat was broken! It's sad to think that our seniors, Most likely their last stop, this is the way they have to spend their remaining time on earth.

They got to know him: music he liked, stories he told, hobbies of his, and more. They took the time to know his family: our names, relations, where we were from, and so on. We would spend hours in his room and they would bring us trays of food directly to us- sandwiches, cookies, coffee/tea.. anything we needed! They took such great care of my grandfather and us, giving us one less thing to worry about in a tough time. When my grandfather passed, there was a sweet nurse next to him. He talked about how gentle and kind she was, and she was able to be right next to him as he passed away. It gives our family great comfort to know that he was in good hands before we could be there. Every single person we interacted with was so unbelievably kind. If you are nervous about leaving a family member here, I can tell you that, from my experience, they will be taken great care of.

My father was in Care One in the late spring of 2025 after having a bypass surgery in his abdomen…read moreand long hospital stay. We had hoped that the stay there would help him to become more ambulatory with PT. From the moment we arrived, we realized it was a mistake to have chosen the facility. The night staff left him sitting on his bed immediately upon checking in while we waited for someone to come with medication. It was like he was forgotten about as soon as he arrived. The room was dirty, the following day I had to report the bugs seen in the room. His roommate clogged the toilet so it was unusable. And staff told my father they could not clean it so he was left without a bathroom until the following day. My dad was a fall risk and no one came to help him go to the bathroom even when he rang for assistance. He fell one day while I was at work and he had to scream for help and laid there while no one came. One of the biggest issues was with medication---his blood thinners were not being administered consistently. We were told the pharmacy was out of them. He ended up with clots in both legs that put him back in the hospital (eventually had strokes as well). They also did not carefully monitor his blood sugar and I found him to have extremely high blood sugar more than once. The nurse assigned to him acted like I was an inconvenience for asking for help and I had to call his doctor repeatedly to get anything done within the facility with his medication. I could also hear staff yelling at some of the patients with obvious memory issues and it appeared that many of the patients are ignored. My dad ended up in the hospital and we never returned to Care One. We chose home hospice at the end of his life which was a much better care setting for him and our family. One of my biggest regrets was ever allowing him to be admitted to this facility while he was ill. It was a place of nightmares and if you have a family member there I recommend staying with them as much as possible so you can advocate on their behalf. Even better, don't take your loved ones here. The people who own this facility should be ashamed of themselves.
