a turkey sandwich cut in half

Arby's, 2300 West New Haven Avenue, West Melbourne, Florida - 4- Stars (Fast Food Rating) Sometimes you just don't have time for a sit-down meal, and you are sick of burgers. One fast food place that occasionally gets overlooked is Arby's. It was founded back in 1964, but what blows my preconceived notions is how Arby's seems to have suddenly become an alternate fast-food (or as Arby's likes to refer to itself, Fast Crafted ®) reality alt fast. Claiming to be the second-largest sandwich restaurant in the world with over 3,500 locations in nine countries, the menu is no longer just roast beef. In fact, Arby's states that it "celebrates the art of Meatcraft® with a variety of high-quality proteins and innovative crave-able sides." Indeed, the menu has expanded greatly. There is a full menu of what appears to be healthier options as well as a wide range of cheat foods. This is not your grandmothers Arby's. Robin is the counter help. She is a wizened veteran of the restaurant business and has an amazing personality for the level she is working here. This must reflect the Arby's Restaurant Group's stated brand purpose of Inspiring Smiles Through Delightful Experiences ™. I am not making this up. Robin even went out to the dining room to ask customers how their food tasted. WHAT? Imagine them doing THAT at the Golden Arches! I ordered the Classic Roast Beef--the standard Arby's throwback--although I had a choice of twelve different Slow Roasted Beef items. Tasty morsels of processed beef product with the accurate flavoring. Next, I tried the Turkey Ranch and Bacon, which had fresh lettuce and tomato and looked and tasted good. Currently, due to a turkey shortage, you can only get this sandwich in one of their stores, not online. Last, an order of the Crinkle Fries (although the Curly Fries looked good too). These fries were cooked right, not over or under fried. The Big Boy says, "Take a break from Mickey D's and give Arby's a shot."

Out of all the Arby's that I go to, this one is the location I frequent the most simply because it is the closest to me. Located right across from the Publix Shopping Plaza on New Haven Rd. (also known as US-192), it stands on its own but delivers like the others generally do too. The overall design and decor has been updated from the times I been here before my Yelp days. I will say it looks minimalist but still nice and welcoming, a combination I admire since too much of anything often comes off as tacky at a fast-food restaurant. The addition of television sets are a plus so I was able to watch the game. As for food, it is still the same: nicely priced and delicious. Very rarely will there be something bad I've eaten at an Arby's. The only reason this Arby's gets a higher mark than my original A-Okay of three stars is the staff. I am a bit biased here but they somewhat know me so they tend to be a bit friendlier and real per se. Being that I like people, that speaks volumes to me. Ultimately, this Arby's is just like any other Arby's when it comes to good food at an excellent price with friendly service. I think what is more of a rarity (well around these parts) is an Arby's that sucks.

Wow! Worst service, worst presentation, worst food ever in an Arby's. This location should be shut down. We were never greeted by cashier. She was incredibly rude. As she took our order the rudeness overwhelmed my wife and I. We then went back and had to clean off a table to have a place to sit. There was only one other couple in the place yet Miss Rude couldn't find time to clean? Then our food arrived. Incredible. Neither of our sandwiches was eatable. Mine is shown in the photos. Instead of shaved roast beef we got medium sliced lunch meat. It was an absolute mess. The cheddar and the Arby sauce was lathered all over the bun inside and out. The meat had more sticking out than was in the bun. The bun was broken and more cheddar and sauce leaking out of it. My wife's sandwich was nearly as bad as mine, but without the broken bun. Seriously horrible meal from start to finish. I hope Arby's will take action here. Our visit was Sunday June 23 at 7:00pm.

**INITIAL REVIEW**…read more Out of all the sub and hoagie restaurants located within southern Brevard County, specifically Palm Bay, Malabar, and Bayside Lakes, the one location that is both historic and iconic is Mash Hoagies (which I will shorthand simply to Mash for the remainder of this review). Mash has been in the same location for literal decades in the Palm Bay West just north of Winn Dixie (soon to be Aldi) and Little Ceasar's. First and foremost, Mash isn't the most visually-appealing place to eat. The dining room setup and colors are definitely out of the 70s, the time when the show the restaurant is based on, M*A*S*H*, came out. The walls right above each both showcases handdrawn charicaures of the actors in character. The cleanliness of the restaurant is up-to-par but more on the lines of better than fast food but just as good as fast casual. What makes Mash one of the best places to get your hoagies are three things: the family friendliness, the better-than-fair prices, and the overall deliciousness of the food. As an example, I will describe one of my orders with them, the "Italian Special" known as the Hawkeye. Named after the character, Hawkeye Pierce, played by Alan Alda and Donald Sutherland, the footlong sandwich consists of ham, capicola, salami, and provolone. You can load any sandwich to the brim with basic ingredients with premium ingredients costing a little bit more. But for $12 for a homemade behometh of a sandwich that is sure to feed a regular person three meals a day, it is a delicous steal. Add on top that the staff is friendly and sometimes will have a nice conversation with you while they make your sandwich. As mentioned earlier, Mash is homegrown with multiple decades serving the community. They have developed a family feel that has kept them more than alive and kicking through the highest highs like when Palm Bay West was the "it strip mall" for Palm Bay (because it was the only major strip mall in Palm Bay) to downward slumps like the (illegal?) pandemic. My suggestion is Carissa. She is very kind and she's been the one to make my sandwich almost every single time I have been there since I started Yelp (Eliting!). I must stress that overall, Mash does not have "the best" particular sandwich I can think of off the top of my head, but they are more than satisfactory and acceptable. For example, I can name a couple of Cuban restaurants that do better Cuban sandwiches than Mash (Hemingway's Tavern and El Ambia for example), but you can't go wrong if you want a Cuban from them either for convenience, price, etc. Given the many times I have been here pre-Yelp as well during my Yelp career, I am going to give Mash a five-out-five star rating. They've always been delicious with good food, good prices, and good service. As for restaurants within Palm Bay West, you can't go any better.

Facility: This is a small place located in a strip mall with Winn Dixie a few stores down. There are some tables and chairs to sit on if you want to stay. They have a ton of snacks out along the counter where you order and drink station on the opposite wall. Service: 5/5 Megan helped me and she was nice and patient. She talked me through the popular items and helped me narrow down my selection since there are a lot of choices. I ordered my food to go. I have to give extra kudos to the way they so thoughtfully packed the food. The sandwich was in nice thick paper so the oil won't leak through. They put a piece of cellophane over the salad to help keep it in place. They actually put napkins, utensils and crackers in for my salad. And they put things in separate paper bags for protection. Food: Italian - 4/5 unfortunately the bread was stale. But the meats and toppings were delicious... could use a little more salt and pepper though. But I love the way they wrapped a piece of ham around the toppings so they don't fall out when you take a bite. With fresh bread, this would have been a 5/5. Chef salad - 5/5 this salad was giant! Loved the toppings and the value for your money. Cheese sticks 2/5 They cook these in an air fryer and it is very obvious. Maybe some people prefer it this way, but the breading is just too bread-y when they don't fry it traditionally in oil. It's not as crunchy and it is lacking some of the flavor from the oil. I know you are saving my heart some of the bad fats, but maybe it's just a personal preference but I just don't like these cooked in an air fryer. Overall: I like this place. I will come back and try some more options.
