Was headed to Rye to get some film developed around the corner, so I decided to stop in. The shop is small but cute and very well organized. I love this little bookstore, right by the Rye train station. It is so crowded that it seems like it would be hard to find a particular book, and so small one might doubt they would have it. But no, the person at the desk has an amazing knowledge of the collection and knew exactly where to go for e everything I was looking for. Plus, the shop is so intriguing it draws you in to more books. More bookstores should be like this gem. read more

I've been ordering books from Arcade Books for years, The owner, Patrick Corcoran, is very personable, very helpful and responsive. He always gets my book within a day or two. I highly recommend Arcade Books. Their new website allows me to order online and they ship directly to me. If you're local, you could either pick up the book at Arcade Books, or have them arrange to ship it to you. This store is an absolute treasure, hidden among the grotesque display of suburban wealth that is Rye. I'm not conservative looking and (even though I've now lived in this town for almost a decade) I get weird looks whenever I walk through town or go into the shops in the downtown area. I've always felt the warmth of acceptance and welcome whenever I go to Arcade Books. Not only does the shop have a vast selection for such a small business, but Patrick (the proprietor) will gladly order anything you want that he doesn't have in stock. Patrick has also helped me with getting touch with local magazines and reviewers that take submissions of fiction. While the age of technology rises ever greater and sites like Amazon take business from mom and pop shops, I'd gladly take my business to Patrick at Arcade any day! I can't express enough how much love I have for this store. When I was getting clean from a heavy opiate addiction, I acquired all of the Dark Tower books by King through Patrick at Arcade and they were the salvation of my sanity during a trying time in my life. So, if you live in the westchester area and have a love for books, I highly recommend Arcade Booksellers. You won't be disappointed! read more

This is a book lovers bookstore, of a kind that is so hard to find. We walked in on a cold and rainy April Saturday and were simply delighted. A pitch perfect selection of children's books to start, but I also picked up "30 drives out of London", a guide to ferns, an excellent mystery for my husband and a book on Russian literature! I probably spent an hour or so there and the place was humming with locals coming and going, buying books, chatting with each other and the owner. Worth a day trip to Rye if you live in Manhattan or the surrounding towns. We had an excellent lunch at Rosemary and Vine down the street. read more

Wow and WOW....I am in Rye to visit with my grandchildren for the week and My daughter-in-law raved about this bookstore! She explained that they were in the process of moving to a new location and thought they were open. I quickly headed down to pick up my latest book club selection but was saddened to see that the new location opening had not happened quite yet! I called to inquire and was greeted by the most helpful and friendly salesperson ...he knew exactly where to locate my book amidst the relocation and chaos of moving and happily told me to come in to pick it up. Although still not "officially" open, he went out of his way to locate my book and make sure I had what I needed. I believe this kind man was the owner, Patrick....a true example of old fashioned customer service, truly what seems to be lacking in so many stores I venture into these days. Another clown who can't handle anything negative being said about his business on his Facebook page so he pathetically deletes it. You walk into the place and the attitude is as though you've ruined his day and it's such a chore and a bother to assist you. You know it's bad when you go to a Barnes & Nobles and you're treated better. read more

A great independent book store geared to the local market. Small, clean and very customer friendly. If they don't have it they get it fast. Rye has an old fashioned main street shopping district with good restaurants and great shopping. Arcade Booksellers is at the end of the street next to the 'Square House' museum in a beautiful old multi-use building. The selection is pretty amazing for such a small space.
