I sent dimensions and a site image and was able to get a quote without a site visit. Our installer was very detail oriented and discovered our wall was not completely flush, which meant that the tile at the top of the wall would be a slightly different width than the one at the bottom. We discussed different strategies for approaching this problem. The zellige we received was also highly variable in quality and color. I asked our installer to pick out the tile in the best condition since we had ordered 10-20% extras and were very happy with the results.

My partner and I even made mock ups of the design we wanted to achieve. Noe was responsive over text when taking down our requirements, giving quotes, and estimating how much material we should purchase which we purchased on our own (though we might have over purchased our material by 20%, I'd much rather have extra than not enough!). Noe handled the tile and grout pick up when it was ready for installation day, and took care of the misc material purchases (finishing metal edge trim, tileset/cement, etc). Adrian and Luis are fantastic installers. Adrian's communication was really top notch (he kept us informed and updated often) and ran through options and recommended solutions when we encountered a bit of a snag with our subfloor and evened it out for us (we wanted to elongate and cut the corners of our rectangular entry way tile). Luis' tile work also really great. His cuts were clean, tiles were even/level, spacing of the grout lines were pretty even as well. I've had tile work done through a general contractor before (they had some rough cuts and some pretty bad tile lippage leading to uneven surfaces) - their quality is nothing compared to Luis' work, our entry way and fireplace with the herringbone pattern looks so good and it matched our mock ups very closely - they really brought our vision to reality! The three of them Noe, Adrian, and Luis really do live up to their company name as Tile Experts and they are very competitive with their pricing. You can check out the before and after photos (just ignore the ugly carpet in the pictures, we have not replaced it yet!) We are really happy and impressed with the work they did for us and would go back to them for any future tile work.

Avoid for Large Projects - Poor Communication, Costly Mistakes, and Delays…read more I would not hire R&A Stone and Tile unless you are a contractor yourself and can monitor the job 24/7. They may be fine for small tiling jobs, or a cheap kitchen flip that you don't care about the quality but anything beyond that is a mistake. Project Experience: -Disorganized & Poor Communication: Ruben, the contractor, constantly miscommunicated with his crew, leading to errors and wasted time. The crew speaks limited English, and Ruben failed to properly relay instructions. -Constant Rescheduling & Delays: The project was plagued with intentional delays because they were trying to juggle randoms crew members to the job site. They do not have a dedicated crew. To keep the job moving, I had to step in and install my stove hood myself. Quality of Work: -Minimal Supervision & Costly Mistakes: Ruben was only on-site for 30 minutes to an hour a day. The crew made frequent errors, wasted materials, and ultimately cost me an extra $5,000 in materials. Unprofessional Workmanship: -A crew member (Adrian) improperly used self-leveling, causing mortar to seep through walls and doors. -The same worker almost set my kitchen on fire due to incorrect wiring. -A junior crew member (Manuel) threw away new materials, further increasing costs. -My husband and I had to redo the wall texture they applied because it was done so poorly. -The countertop was improperly installed (by Victor), leading to a post-installation crack. The contractor promised to fix it but was a no-show, wasting an entire day of our time. -The dishwasher was incorrectly installed (Ricardo), requiring my husband to take a day off to reinstall it. Material Pricing & Usage: The contractor ordered materials on my behalf, but the pricing changed and was increased without transparency. The crew also took materials I paid for to use on other job sites. Also on two occasions, we had to order more tiles at 3x the cost because all the measurements were incorrect. Other Issues: -The crew trashed and clogged our bathroom toilet. They denied responsibility until I installed a camera--only then did the issue stop. -Never reimbursed or refunded for damages and extra expenses. Final Verdict: Ruben is a nice guy and means well, but his company is not equipped for big jobs (over $10K). If you have a small bathroom tile job, they might be fine, but anything beyond that--find a better contractor. We rushed to finish the project just to be done with them, and in hindsight, we should have hired someone else from the start. Do not make the same mistake we did. 2/5 - Would not recommend for major home renovations. Recommend for small jobs only.

I worked directly with Obaid, who greeted us the moment we walked in. He was incredibly patient and helpful throughout the entire process, guiding us through different shades and types of wood and carpet, and giving thoughtful recommendations along the way. We did run into a small issue with the carpet, but Obaid communicated with us every step of the way and made sure we landed on a solution that worked perfectly for us. We purchased wood flooring for the main areas and carpet for the bedrooms, all comfortably within our budget. Very thankful to have worked with him. Looking forward to coming back for future home improvement projects!

The second bathroom had loose floor tiles, and were removed, cleaned up and reinstalled. Also required re caulking around the tub/shower. The third bathroom had loose bullnose tile requiring removal cleanup and re-installed, as well as re-caulking around the vanity back splash and shower. The fourth bathroom shower wall, vanity backsplash and shower door were re caulked. Fremont Tile & Carpet reviewed each bathrooms and made suggestions on the amount of work required. The manager Obaid, helped us to select new tile for one bathroom (it looks great), suggested reuse of existing tile in two other bath, wrote up a description and estimate covering all work. The work took a span of a week start to finish and went very well. Floor and rugs were covered and all the work was executed very professionally. I would use FT&C again.

Another contractor couldn't start until two weeks later. Alex made a site visit and was very personable. With the lead time, we chose Alex. Right when we chose him, he wanted to start that day! I said OK. That afternoon the demolition began. In two weeks he completed the job. He will work around your schedule. We had a family incident and needed to push back the work a day. We also had to wait a few days for the faucet to be delivered. The hours are up to you. We were OK with his team working into the late evening to get the job done because we were down a bathroom. Vitali and Alex work really really hard and long hours. There were some up sale items, but we picked which ones we wanted. Our vanity was in bad shape; so we updated the vanity, sink, backsplash and faucet. Alex quoted us a great price and offered to do tile flooring which would have made the bathroom even nicer, but we decided that the flooring would be fine. Maybe save that for the next remodel. Going through any type of remodel or home update is emotional and risky. We did a home remodel years back and that's when we learned you can really only choose two of the three: quality, cost, or speed. With Alex we were able to get close to all three. Obviously your home is very dear, and there are small little things that you can sweat over. Your home will never be perfect. Not a year goes by without some work that needs to be done to my home. Things get old and break down. There are many things that I would do over, but everyday I go into my newly updated bathroom and smile.

They also carry quality, "good-enough" budget options (for items like kitchen sink) and occasionally some very interesting wall tile designs. We got countertop slabs here - lots of selection, price was cheaper, and the main surface looked good. However, pattern continuity from main surface to the narrow side edge gets distorted with some batches, especially with patterns emphasizing stripes/veins. So pay attention to the side edge of their standard quartz slabs. We worked with Jaime, who is the best. We've probably been to East Star at least 20 times. Spacious parking lot, convenient location off 880, big bright showroom, and very reasonable prices.

Have to come here and downgrade my rating after the recent experience…read more I remodeled both the master bathroom and the guest bathroom, when I made the purchases, I made it for both and some items were not available during pick up. I was told that they would let me know once they have new inventory. This went on for 2 months and I got no calls. So I had to call them and found out that they did have incoming inventory but the sales person never made the call. Then when I went to pick up, the delivery department insisting an item was picked up while the order was circled from last time indicating it was not picked up. We had to go back, searched high and low with our contractors and confirmed that we never had the item. Then we went through the hassle of emailing and calling them to finally have their agreement to pick up the item. When I thought this is all done, the contractor discovered that a part was missing from the box and I had to call them again. Interestingly they don't seemed surprised. For more than the third time, I went to pick up that missing part and they had a standard form to sign. Probably means this happens a lot? So my advice is that pick up right away after you place the order, if they don't have the items available, cancel them immediately. Also, check every box at pick up to make sure what you have are good, but it can be hard if you don't know what to look for. So now to go over the whole journey and talk about the value of the shop, I'm not sure it's that top notch. Perhaps just focus on what you can buy immediately, pick up, check and leave will be the best value. If you can't get it right away there, leave and find somewhere else.

    Glass 23

To preface: I don't like writing 1 star reviews, but after this entire experience (spanning over…read more2.5 months...) I felt I needed to share. Yelp word count is 5,000 characters..my initial draft was over 15,000, so this is the short version. I was looking to get 3 mirrors replaced (warped mirrors), and to change my shower door into a slider. Ken, owner of Glass23, provided the fastest response and had his employee come out and take measurements. After some back and forth with a few companies, I decided to go with Glass23 based on reviews and cost. This took a nosedive from here. My initial appointment was changed 3 times. Day of, he had forgotten a tool, so the initial ETA was 1.5 hours later. Initially, the job seemed ok, but after some time, I noticed each item had issues: -1st mirror: extra half inch sticking out..not sure if it was due to placement or poor measurement to start -2nd mirror: noticed warping on the new mirror...(super odd, since I was guaranteed there was no chance the new mirrors were going to get warped) -3rd mirror: huge gap behind the mirror, and not enough adhesive -shower slider: only tested a few days later due to adhesive, but the glass door nearly fell off when I used it the first time Communication after the initial install was not good. First half of invoice was paid from start, and he requested the second half to be paid, even with all these issues still outstanding. I ultimately paid it in the hopes that I was going to have all my issues resolved. A lot of back and forth to get the warped mirror replaced by the supplier. 2nd visit: similar issues with timing, and reasons why he was going to be late. He brought the new mirror, but was unable to pry off the "bad" mirror he had installed on. He was concerned that it would break everywhere and used some wood stakes to try to ease the tension...response was to check back in in a few weeks. The shower door issue was that the screws at the top were not tightened. He assumed the manufacturer would have tightened it but didn't check it upon install.. Post 2nd visit comms: After finally using the shower slider, the slider was now leaking a ton of water. Had a lot of towels that I had to keep switching out. 3rd visit: again, same issue. Texted an ETA, but forgot an item so was pushed back. Ended up pulling off the mirror since the wood stakes did nothing (so we wasted 10 days in the hopes that it would come off). Added extra sealant for the shower in the hopes that it would stop leaking. Post 3rd visit: shower slider STILL leaking. Master bedroom mirror gap was so noticeable. Not enough adhesive since I could nearly pull the bottom corner compeltely off. Through texts, he simply mentioned additional adhesive was needed. 4th visit: luckily arrived at the end of the hour window he gave. Adding adhesive to mirror did nothing. Added more sealant to shower and made it look pretty noticeable, and ugly, in the hopes it would stop leaking. Post 4th visit: shower slider still leaking. After some thinking...since the mirror wasn't flushed to the wall, there was still going to be a big gap, so I had requested to get a new mirror (and I noticed there was damage already to the mirror, likely from the wall). I was going to have a handyman come in and fix the wall. After a bit of back and forth, I was given 2 options: partial refund or full refund and he comes to take everything out of my home. I was 100% considering a full refund, but I did not want to schedule another visit...and have no mirrors and no glass for my shower for 4-5 weeks+ as I search for a new company. Ultimately, going for a partial refund to end the business arrangement. What makes me livid, is the fact that he did not admit any fault for a botched job. Multiple times through our texts, the response was: "he was sorry he wasn't able to make things the way I had hoped." I had hoped for a simple mirror replacement and a non-leaky shower without all the issues. This entire process took 2.5 months, which is absolutely ridiculous. I am glad it is finally over. Now, I just have to deal with seeing the issues every day, and ultimately, needing to fix everything when the mirror breaks or when the shower slider leaks a ridiculous amount. Going back, the ideal situation would have been: before blindly installing, I would have liked him to check the wall, and let me know that wall had an issue. I would proceed or wait on install to get it fixed, but give me that choice. For the shower slider, I dont know what went wrong, but my initial shower door had no leaking issues. Even if I was given a full refund and everything stayed at my place, I still wouldn't have been made whole. The amount of time I blocked out for each visit, the number of texts back and forth, and the constant reminder that the mirrors and shower slider was a failed job will continue to bother me until I get it swapped out anyways.
