My husband and I have been taking our 3 pets (1 dog/ 2 cats) to Archer for over 5 years. We had been pleased with our visits until the past year. We brought our dog in for some general concerns and we were asked to bring a feces sample. Throughout this apt we never heard anything of the results, we were charged, and still not results. Not more then 1 week later our dog was having diarrhea and there was blood in it, I called Archer and they asked for me to drop off a feces sample, I explained that we just did last week, as they looked into it they found they had no record of it but did in fact charge me. So I dropped off a new sample and they did not charge me and the doctor there gave a rx for diarrhea and said they would call with the results with in 1-2 hrs.... THEY NEVER DID! so I called and they said there was no record and the lab tech was gone . Mind you this was the day before thanksgiving so they would be closed. So after speaking to a manager after the holiday and her saying she doesn't know how this could happen and she is so sorry ect ect ect...she told me the vet tech REMEMBERS our dogs sample and it was fine.... yeah ok! Kinda hard to just believe that she remembers.... So lastly we bring our dog in for re-check blood work for his thyroid, we had a appt with a tech to take his blood, we waited at least 20 mins over our apt time and then when they brought him back for the blood draw he was back there for 25 mins. Ok so we wait and wait and wait for results and I call cause at ALMOST 4 WEEKS to the day we still don't have the results and we are running out of his meds. I call and when I received a call back it was from a manager saying the lab never received our dogs blood and she cant explain why this has happened but will call back when she can figure out what she can do. So then another call from a different manger and she says we found his blood sample, it was never sent out it was in the back of the freezer pushed back by boxes.....wow are you kidding me? don't you think you would check everything and every possibility before telling a patient this? The manager told me the tech that took his blood didn't leave a note for the next tech coming in the following day so she would know to send the blood out. This being the 3rd time they have lost my dogs sample, i did not trust this was even my dogs sample at this point so i requested they reinburse my money for the blood work so I could get it re- drawn somewhere else- THEY WOULD NOT DO THIS This veterinary clinic is very unprofessional, I have never received such awful customer service, and bottom line I do not trust what they are doing there and I would not trust them with your animals. We got our records and we are out of there! They lost my dogs feces and blood samples a total of 3 times its absolutely unacceptable! read more

I am disabled and have an Akita Service Dog. He is absolutely the sweetest love bug you could ever know. However, he isn't real keen on getting up on a table and laying down on his side. Blood draw, no problem but he just isn't keen on that other stuff. Probably, not too keen on being examined either. We got him used to a muzzle, just to be on the safe side. And I will tell you what, he made some primordial sounds that were pretty scary when it came time to get up on that metal table and laying on one side and getting flipped to the other. However, once he was on his side and being examined, with a little peanut butter as a distraction, he did fine. The Vet and Vet Tech were so cool. They were very thorough and not phased at all by Kumo's, I don't like this expressions. When my daughter said, I have never heard him make these noises before, I'm so sorry, their response was, it's alright. We don't take it personally. After the exam he was all sweetness and love again. This Veterinary Clinic works with working dogs. They understand the bond between handler and dog and nothing phases them. I saw two other large working dogs go into exam rooms with their handler and other Vets and Vet Techs and heard barks and after their exams they were all happy and fine too. When you have a big dog, even small dogs, they can get nippy and cranky when they are being examined. It felt great being in a place where the Vets and Vet Techs are capable and professional and also don't tack on all kinds of tests that aren't needed. I highly recommend the Archer Veterinary Clinic. Oh and Penny and the rest of the staff were wonderful. They were helpful and really sweet. Professional and informed. Back in July 2018 my Siberian Husky tore his ACL on his left leg. When I brought him to my vet they recommended a surgeon to repair this (they do not do this type of surgery at their office). They were able to provide me with a quote for the surgery before I left that day. When I got home I opened the envelope and almost fell down when I looked at the cost to for my pooch to have the surgery. I went to work the next day and before I put one of my kidneys on eBay I was talking to one of my co-workers who had the same thing happen to their dog a couple of years ago and a friend of hers referred her to Archer Veterinary Clinic. She told me Dr. Johnson is not only very competitively priced but also but he does so many of these surgeries that he is an expert in his field. I called and got an appointment and met Dr. Johnson, his bedside manner is outstanding! You can tell immediately he really cares about his patients. The day of the surgery we met with Dr. Johnson again and in passing he mentioned that about 75% of the dogs he operates on end up coming back to him within a year for the other leg to be operated on for the same issue. Well here it is April of 2019 and we are scheduled for my boy's right ACL :-( One nice thing is when Dr. Johnson did his pre-surgery exam the other day he looked at my dog's left leg (the one he operated on last July) and said it healed very well and did not even seem to have any arthritis in the joint. My Husky is 11.5 years old so I was very happy to get such a good report on the left leg after he had the ACL repaired last July! I suspect this operation for the right side will go just as well and by the fall (October-ish) we should be back to our long walks thanks to Dr. Johnson and his wonderful staff. read more

I'm writing this with a heavy heart after losing my dog, Bentley, who passed away from cancer. What hurts the most is knowing that his condition could have been caught earlier if my concerns had been taken seriously. I brought Bentley in multiple times because I knew something was wrong. Each visit, I asked questions, shared new symptoms, and expressed how worried I was. Instead of digging deeper or recommending further testing, I felt dismissed -- as if his symptoms weren't urgent or significant. As time went on, Bentley continued to decline. I kept coming back, hoping someone would take a closer look or investigate further, but that never truly happened. By the time we finally received answers, it was too late. Bentley was the sweetest, softest boy -- a black Lab-pit mix who only barked when he sensed danger and loved to cuddle. He deserved attentive care. I trusted this clinic to help me find out what was wrong, and I truly believe early detection could have made a difference in his quality of life. Losing him is devastating, but what makes it worse is knowing that I tried to advocate for him, and those concerns weren't met with the urgency or thoroughness he needed. read more

I have never written a review before however Dr Johnson and his team deserve to be recognized for their outstanding commitment to savings animals lives. Our two dogs ran away one evening a couple months ago. One was hit was a car two separate times, miraculously no broken bones but did lacerate an artery on his head and was bleeding profusely. Our dog happened to be close to Archer Veterinary, our vet for the past 5 yrs. It was about 9 was I got the call, they were closing up when our dog was brought in. Dr Johnson made sure to talk me through all his injuries and things to look for. He did not rush because it was late. He took his time and made sure our dog was safely in my car, gave me one of their homemade blankets to transport him and even reached in to my car to adjust him to make sure he was comfortable. The office called the next morning and the day after to make sure our dog was doing ok. If it wasn't for the quick action, professional medical attention and caring hearts of Dr Johnson and his team, our dog, who fully recovered, would not be here today. I can't recommend this veterinary clinic enough for those who are looking for great care. I had the pleasure of meeting Dr. Brett Tibbits for the first time last week. I can't say enough good things about him. He was very patient with us, answered all of our pesty questions and was very thorough in his examination of our dog. Staff members are extremely cordial and treat you like family. LOVE this practice!!! Dr. Johnson has been "spot on" with each dog we have brought to him for OFA'ing hips. I would honestly give them 10 stars if I could. Dr. Johnson is second to none and the staff that support him are equally wonderful. This clinic legitimately CARES about the animals that walk through their doors. The way a vet should be - but as so many pet owners knows - very few are. Archer is the exception - they have bent over backwards for my pets on numerous occasions - even though we're not regular clients due to distance. That however will be different after our last visit. The bill was less than 1/3 of the "low end" of the estimate we received elsewhere - and seeing my concern, Dr. Johnson got us in after hours the same day - on a weekend. Our entire family has been using Archer Veterinary Clinic for many decades. We can not give enough praise to Dr. Johnson and staff. Dr. Johnson is by far the BEST veterinarian ever, he is brilliant. His quick diagnosis and treatments are always on target, without unnecessary testing and costs. Not only does he genuinely care about the animals, he also cares about their owners by keeping his cost affordable with all families, especially families that have multiple pets. Extremely pleased with my Doberman's ear clipping provided by Archer Veterinary Clinic. Though this is my 3rd Doberman, this was the first time that I (not the breeder) had the ears done. I did a lot of research and fortunately Archer was within a reasonable distance. Though will very by dog, my dog's ears were standing in 6 weeks - Amazing. First 2 weeks with the cup on his head while stitches were in and then 4 weeks with postings. We did give the dog cod liver oil and it (among other attributes) may have aided in cartilage repair. Overall great service, fair price and excellent result. Again, amazed how quickly the ears stood (and remained) upright. read more

I am a long time client of Archer Veterinary Clinic (15+ years) I had a scheduled appointment but had to go out of town, so I had to ask someone else to take my dog. I also got a new kitten and asked if it could be included in this visit. You can weigh a kitten and listen to its heart and lungs in under five minutes. For the thousands, I have spent there and the new clientele I have brought to them, I don't think an additional 5 minutes in a room already occupied by my pet would have changed their booking. I am very disappointed that they choose to treat a long time customer this way. I will not return to Archer and have told my friends the same. read more

I have known Dr. Johnson for 25 years and have moved further and further north west but still come back to his clinic for the care of my animals. The staff is amazing and the veterinarians are brilliant. I was reminded of this recently when I brought in my lab who had gone into shock from pancreatitis. Dr . Johnson and Dr. Seader saved her for me and let me sit with her in recovery all day. Even though I was disrupting their day by being there, the entire staff was so kind and accommodating because they knew how traumatic this was for me and my dog. We have been taking our dogs here since we moved to Lemont in 2013. I LOVE this practice. All of the vets have been great. Dr. Seader worked closely with us to sort out one of the dogs allergies. He was scientific, methodical, and caring. She is on immunotherapy and doing great. The staff is knowledgeable and always helpful. They are all so loving with the animals. They are very reasonably priced, especially in contrast to the vet we went to when we lived in LaGrange. I can't say enough good things about them. read more

I took my very sick dog Foxy to the vet thinking I would have to put him down. He was diagnosed with a liver abscess. I told them if he wasn't going to survive that I didn't want to pay for a lot of testing and then find I still had to put him down. They did all the blood work and testing and gathered donated medicine where they could. The bill was around $300. All the vets discussed his condition and after massive antibiotics and liver medicine, he is doing much better. These veterinarians are excellent! read more

Everyone here is very kind and wonderful. Dr. Tibbets was amazing with my dog and really took time to check her over and explain things to me. You can tell he really cares for the animals and loves his job. The techs all seem very sweet and really care about the animals too. So thankful for Dr. Johnson for being a surgical vet and helping my dog, Summer. I took her on her first post surgery walk today and she's as good as new! Being only 8, I knew she still has so much life left in her. She had a pretty large (5lb) fatty tumor that was causing her so much pain and discomfort.
