Bought a groupon here, scheduled, and when we showed up, the instructor had cancelled. Having never shot before, the lady at the cash register gave us a basic guide of the equipment and "how to." It was nice that we had the range to ourselves. Definitely something fun to do for a first timer, but it would be 10 times cooler if it were outdoors and had somebody to teach you. read more

The beginning archery class is better than nothing, although not taught in an instinctive way. The shop however is like one of those dysfunctional businesses featured on "Tattoo Rescue" - that is, very crowded, dark and poorly laid out, with indifferent staff lounging about who cannot be bothered to do much more than nod in the general direction where merchandise might be found - but isn't. Very bow-hunting-oriented, this outfit has got to be among the least desirable local options for traditional archery. Suggest you check out one of the other archery shops in the metro area (hint: including across the river) if that is your interest. read more

I went here today for a Groupon class, and as a worker in the service industry I know how dreaded Groupon is for workers. First off the class was amazing! the guy that instructed us was funny, knowledgeable, and although you could tell he has taught this class so many times that he was on auto pilot however, he remained genuine. In fact, it was so much fun I was about to go buy a bow from them. What made me not buy a bow from them was the lady that was working the counter. This lady was so ungodly rude to me when I checked in. When I showed up and told her that I had a Groupon for the class her face made a scowl asked for my name and when I turned to ask my girlfriend about something yelled that she needed the Groupon. Afterwards she didn't say any parting words, no "The class will be starting soon!" or "The instructor will be with you!" just another scowl while she turned around. So instead of buying a bow from them I spent $250 online for a set up. I like supporting local but if she acts like on the daily then I assume she is the owner and I would rather support an online store then a local one. 5 stars for the class 0 stars for the service read more

After waiting longer to get an ordered bow than a custom bow from another shop, the staff (that bothered to ask if we needed help) wasn't much help. They did a sloppy job setting up the bow, after doing it wrong the first time and trying to keep parts that we had paid for. Didn't bother tuning the bow to the shooter (my mom) and just all around didn't seem like they knew what they were doing. The shop itself has a poor, cramped layout with no organization whatsoever. The shooting range is just raw hay bales where if you hit between them you can say goodbye to your arrow. Not worth it even if they are cheaper. read more

Went in to get helped with a bow and equipment purchase. The owner was going to find a proper compound bow for me and never called me after the visit and when I called back I got no help. Ended up moving on to another shop that spent the time and did the research and actually called me back. Unless your a fanatic hunter and can fit (normal draw length) an off the shelf bow then it is a no-go. Broken Arrow Archery took care of that for me instead. DGP read more

Went in last week looking for a new bow. I was greeted pretty quickly when I came in and was set up with a bow, arrows and the shown the lanes. The now was in my price range an shot pretty well, I asked what else they had and Jim told me that was the best for the price range but set me up with another bow. I liked that one enough to buy it. This place gets up and down reviews and my only advise would be to be patient if they are busy an ask questions. If you don't act or ask for hand holding you won't get it. I can't speak expertly to the shop as a hub for serious bow hunters, but it appears well-stocked, and the staff seem knowledgeable, and engage well with customers. The store has a good secondary appeal to novice archers, particularly elementary-age children. We've attended two group lessons, and found the staff to be informative, safety-conscious, and helpful. I have nothing, but great things to say about this establishment. I'm 27 years old and just fell in love with target shooting a few weeks back. I came in not knowing anything and Ralph totally hooked me up with my first bow package, got it tuned, spent over an hour showing me the fundamentals until I was getting my first bullseyes. Felt adventurous after all those Living Social commercials. A few of us jumped at the opportunity to nab a Groupon for a one hour lesson for half off. It was fun! There are two ranges indoor. The range we used was smaller. They provided recurve bows and arrows. The instructor was knowledgable, kind, and flattering. She let us continue to shoot even after our lesson ended. They also have a decent (I'm assuming, since I'm not an archery expert) selection of new and used gear for various levels of skill. Definitely planning to go back. I think they have an all day deal for $15 and provide bows, arrows, and armguard. read more

I'll start by saying I'm disappointed with the lack of communication and the lack of caring about my concerns about an order I placed. Will take my business elsewhere as I will not tolerate a business to treat me in this manner. I would have purchased my new bow and accessories from here, but now not going to happen. I'm sure they don't really care based on how they treat people. Too bad their the only shop close enough for a lot of people. Came in w a Groupon (which everyone knows isn't the most popular piece of paper to walk into a business with) which also happened to be expired but Jim was more than happy to honor the coupon and Steve picked up with the customer service with a personal 1 hour archery lesson. He was very knowledgable but humble in helping me with my form and skill and more than happy to suggest options for me down the line. They were also very polite and helpful to everyone that came into the store. Apparently they also have numerous childrens classes. I've NEVER had such a frustrating experience with a retail business in my life. First of all, the people working there seem so apathetic, you practically have to beg them to sell you anything. Went in to buy a recurve bow. Tried out a few and was told the one I wanted would take a week to come in and that they'd call me. Two weeks later, I called to find out if the bow was ready and and they said they would probably be getting some in soon. They tried to sell me on a different draw weight bow and basically told me that I didn't know what I was talking about, but I said I'd rather wait. Now, five weeks after originally ordering and paying for the bow, I get a call saying that the bow is finally in and I can come pick it up at any time. So I make the 30 minute drive there from my house and the person at the front desk says "oh, someone was supposed to call you back and tell you that wasn't your bow." When I told them I hadn't received another call, there was no apology; the guy just shrugged his shoulders. I finally insisted on getting my money refunded and am now going to Milwaukie to get a bow, hoping that not all archery store's offer such terrible customer service. read more

Truly outstanding shop. Staff is knowledgeable, friendly, helpful, and are equipped to help you down the many paths of archery. The shop caters to all levels from novice to Pro. The merchandise is very competitively priced. Coupled with excellent, prompt, service they seem to do better than most shops and large sporting stores. Just a great store with an outstanding staff. I shoot 2-3 days a week and stop in the shop about once a week and have seen a good crossection of the store. read more

I would recommend another spot unless absolutely necessary. Been there quite a lot over the years only due to having to have an item. Bought some arrows and the salesperson chose the inserts. Two were wrong and when I brought them back they charged me. Went to get a string for my bow that had stretched too far past the alignment marks they sold me the cheap version that was for an older bow. I did not want to leave the old string on with a broken strand so at least my bow will not be damaged. Unfortunately they did not have any yoke cables in stock. Price was $5 higher than normal. Just a heads up to research and order online if at all possible. Dedicated customers get helped first so be prepared to wait. Not a horrible place just the staff is a little snobby. read more

The employees are great, but Jim is a cheap piece of shit, he sold me a defective peep sight which caused my string to snap slamming the cam into the top limb and breaking it. My family have varied experience and the instructor helped some of us more, and let other try different bows. The let my son use all of the different equipment and taught him how to use the compound bow, the facility is clean and they have a great retail area. I went in over the holidays to get my husband a recurve bow as a surprise gift. The lady that helped me knew exactly what she was doing. I was in a hurry, but she helped me find the right bow for my husband the gear that he needed to get started. He was surprised, and I can't thank them enough. The store is a little cramped, and would do well to move into a larger space. If you are looking for archery supplies, this is the place. They even have lessons and a shooting range. read more

Being an avid archer and having been one for awhile now, it's such a disappointment that the only real archery shop on the west side is Archers Afield. They do stock some nice inventory, but I always feel as though I've been ripped-off when I buy something there and I've regretfully have bought a couple of bows and other gear there. Their greatest deficiency is in customer service, especially from the owner. You could get better prices on-line, but in trying to support the local economy, it's nice to shop locally. But this guy makes it impossible, he's disrespectful, arrogant and down right rude. In this last encounter going as far as telling me "you don't know much about archery, let me tell you what you need." Hey, they sell nice stuff, but they don't make any of it, so it's all about customer service. From now on I'm ordering on-line or driving the extra 20 mins. to Broken Arrow Archery in Milwaukie (where the guys want to help you and it's not so dark and creepy). read more
