These people are straight up criminals. Charged me $550 to pry open a cheap bedside unsafe. Granted I did not ask what the cost was Prior but ​ he gleefully told me if he could have opened it with his supposed locksmithing skills (which were nowhere to.be seen) it would have 'only' been 250 but because he had to pry it open with a screwdriver (10 minites work) it was 550$ for that kind of rare expertise. I could have and would have done it myself in 10 minutes with the screwdriver for free. I paid him $550 for non locksmithing job. Smashing job in other words . I don't think he had any locksmithing abilities at all and was simply a con man taking advantage of people in need. Then he had the nerve to offer to buy one of my cars as he was walking out like we were suddenly buddies now after he had cheated me. I guess now he could afford it and he knew I couldn't any longer. Do Not Recommend! I tried to get pricing, but was told they need to look into it. I asked what price would be multiple times and was dodged until he finished the work and gave me a bill for $435. After I complained, they dropped to $350 for 10 min onsite work and a lock that could be found for about $20. Force a price before you get work done, otherwise you will be surprised! read more

I copied two keys here, and I got several copies of each. I came in during the afternoon. Parking was convenient, there were no other clients, and they took me right away. Prices are reasonable, I think $3-6 depending on the kind of key you select. The only thing I do wish is that they had a little more selection of key styles (I like keys with the top being a thick design, like a monkey face for example, so they are easier to use.) Then I drove ten minutes to Reseda Hardware on Vanowen and an exceptionally nice and helpful gentleman made my keys in five minutes at a very reasonable price. It is the responsibility of the business to post correct information. Needless today say Tarzana Lock and Safe will not be my go to place for any of the services they advertise. read more

Such a strange experience with this shop. I needed to make a copy of a file cabinet key. I called to ask if they could make a copy and swung by the shop Monday morning. The staff member who made the key was very nice but said he wasn't sure if this would work. Told me to come back and they could either return it or recut it. I went to my office and I couldn't even put it in the lock. No harm no foul. I looked online and saw that the only place that sold blank keys were in the UK yikes! I swung by Wednesday to ask if I can return the key or they could recut it. The person on duty (different man) first said that the receipt didn't have a employee number and I said no this is what I got. He looked at the receipt again and said 'we weren't open at that time' hunh. Than he looked at it again said 'this isn't our receipt' and I just looked at him. I started to walk away and said it's $3.50 I'll just eat the cost and not submit for reimbursement. As I walked away he said I'll refund it. I declined and walked to my car. I guess if your making regular common keys they might do an OK job but if you have a unusual key I do NOT recommend Tarzana Lock and Safe. The lack of courtesy to a customer and if they have a no refund police it should be posted but for him to lie that it's not my receipt, we weren't open and any excuse all to avoid recutting a key I PURCHASED or just refund me the money. Next time I need a key I will NOT go to this shop. read more
