We used Archie's for our casual wedding event and rehearsal dinner and they were fantastic. Debbie was super accommodating prior to the event, guided us in food selections and never once disappointed. The food was delivered to us the night of the rehearsal party and they provided everything we could need! The food was fantastic, some of the best I have ever had. Hands down best brisket ever. The service they provided for our wedding was incredible. 2 of Debbie's sons who also run the restaurant take care of setting up, serving, and then putting away all the left overs. They were sweet and courteous, you could see they loved what they do. The food was incredible. All our guests raved over the food. Not one negative comment. If you know about smoking meat, then you will understand when I say the smoke rings in the brisket and ribs and turkey breast was incredible, the taste amazing. These guys have perfected the process. I was really looking forward to eating here, as I researched the restaurants in the deep creek area. Needless to say, I was very disappointed. The only positive comments are that the customer service was excellent and the restaurant was clean. Too bad the food was awful. We ordered a rib platter, a half slab, pulled chicken sandwich, mac cheese, baked beans, cole slaw and 3 drinks....the bill was $70 and it all came up almost immediately (3 mins max). I have waited longer for McDonalds and paid much less.....I knew that was a bad sign. The food was lukewarm and did not taste like any bbq we have ever had. Good thing we just left the slopes, we were starving. We ate enough to take the edge off and the rest went in the trash. Don't go unless you want to waste your money. read more

This place is amazing!!! The wings are delicious and made to perfection! The baby back ribs were awesome too! Everyone in there is very nice, and it has a very welcoming atmosphere! The pulled pork was pretty good. Don't waste you money on non meat based products. We paid $8 for a pint of green beans that turned out to be nothing more than canned green beans. My dad loves Archie's...I find it pretty mediocre. There aren't a lot of other bbq restaurants in the area though so it's about the best you can do. I don't dislike them, but I don't really see anything all that special about the place. We've ordered to-go and eat-in and generally the food is ready very quickly regardless. read more

Simply delicious BBQ. We got the sampler platter, baked beans and potato salad -- all exactly what we wanted from a big ol' barbecue lunch after a hike, enough for us to even take some home. I have eaten Bbq in a lot of places. From St. Louis to the Carolina's and on down to Texas and Alabama. Archie's is some of the worse I have ever had. A basic chicken and rib combo is $25. That's half a chicken, four ribs, and a square of cornbread. At home in Southern Maryland a seven rib and half chicken combo platter is $13. The sides were OK. I feel sorry for Garrett Co. You people deserve better Bbq. After I retire and move here, I just may open a place so you know what you're missing. read more

Went to stop here for some local flavor, the reviews peaked my interest. Beautiful location, get decor and yummy corn bread. But that is it! Ordered brisket plate, it came out quick but cold. I asked for them to heat it some more and the staff and cooks were making back handed passive aggressive comments in my ear shot about me politely asking for it to be warmed up some more. They spend the whole time commenting and making rude comments while I am sitting tables away. Still was barely warm when it came out. Was dry before I asked for it to be reheated.... still was dry. My significant other got the chopped brisket and he compared it to cheap dog food. The wings and the bbq wrap were alright. But for the amount of money and the quality of service received I would strongly warn anyone against this business! Arby's is better quality bbq and have better manners! read more

I'd give Archie's 3.5 out of 5. I had a brisket sandwich, and it was solid. Nothing to write home about but if you're wanting some barbecue and you're visiting Deep Creek or Wisp, it'll suffice. I'd definitely go back if I had a BBQ craving while I was in the area. read more

This family-run business catered our wedding! We had a pig roast..they were nice enough to ask our guests to come see the whole pig before cutting it, and it was a huge hit! The food was all delicious and we got a lot of compliments from our guests. They were kind, accommodating, and easy to work with throughout the planning process. Our wedding planner was also really pleased with their service, which I think says a lot. I can't say enough nice things about them, we are so happy we chose them for our wedding and would definitely recommend them, whether for a bite to eat or an event! read more

We ate at Archie's earlier this week. I tried the half chicken dinner and my spouse had the full rack of ribs. The BBQ sauce was very tasty. We tried the mac and cheese and baked beans. Both were pretty good - not as good as homemade but good. I would recommend this place to anyone looks for good bbq. read more

I eat here every year on my vacation to DCL. The staff is so friendly and accommodating. I love the smoked boneless pieces of chicken in buffalo sauce (called boneless wings, but that name is probably misleading since boneless wings are usually breaded and fried.) The ribs here are a good texture and everyone likes them but me - I'm just not a fan of the sauce. I wished they offered different sauces ala Mission. The guy who I think is the owner seems like such a nice guy, by the way. I (jokingly) complained that there was only one size of takeout cup, and he gave me my drink on the house. We found this place during a trip to Wisp after our rental agency gave us a flyer with local businesses that offer discounts to renters. This is classic barbecue! We ended up coming twice over the weekend because it was so good. Between all of us, we tried every meat they offer, and everything was delicious. The habenero sauce is my favorite (they make it in house), but I used it more to add heat to the mac and cheese because their meat doesn't need it! The staff was welcoming to us and we're happy to explain how everything was made, especially after we told them we were from out of town. I wish we had someplace like this closer to home!! read more

This is some seriously delicious BBQ! We've been wanting to stop in for months. We finally did today, and boy were we glad we did! My husband and I shared the "Piggy Plate" with brisket, pulled pork, and cornbread. It was more than enough food for our lunch. In fact, we had enough to bring home for dinner to feed ourselves and our two sons. I only had to buy some extra cornbread to take home with us. It is definitely the best cornbread I've ever had! I can't say enough about their sauce either! They have regular and spicy. The regular is incredible! I love how they gave us extras of both to take home with our leftovers too! Our daughter is not a huge meat eater, but she ordered and loved the pulled chicken wrap and fries. The portion size was generous, and she was also unable to finish here lunch. Lastly, I must say the service was awesome. All that we interacted with were helpful, attentive, and very friendly. We will definitely make this a regular place to eat! Really closer to 2.5 stars. Anytime a BBQ place has their pork served already sauced it's usually a yellow flag. The sauced pork was ok however. My biggest complaint is with the brisket. It appeared and tasted as of it were not even smoked. I needed a knife to cut it, there was no smoke ring and the fat did not "melt" at all. The mac and cheese and baked beans were very good. Pretty awful. The meat was really dry, with a gross, too-sweet aftertaste. I'm guessing they prepare it in big ovens, where it sits in a sugary marinade for days and dries out. Staff is excellent - so friendly and helpful. Nice change from metro area. Food is very good although I prefer thick sliced brisket rather than thin sliced. You get more flavor from thick sliced brisket. Mac and cheese not great but the baked beans are excellent and meaty. Coleslaw good too - homemade horseradish is excellent. A couple friends and I stopped in for a bite to eat. It was your typical BBQ joint. We knew from looking around that the portions were huge so we ordered fries loaded with pulled pork to share. It was pretty good, but as I said typical. If you want good BBQ and large sizes of it this is for you. If you want a place that sets themselves apart from other BBQ places- this is not it. We were not disappointed in any way, but just not wowed either. What was shocking was the number of photos on the wall of those who conquered or at least tried the food eating contest. Food is good and service is excellent, but WOW it's expensive for barbecue. $3 for three small pieces of cornbread. Kids' meals (hotdog, one side, and a small drink) are $8. Dinner for four here, with one soda, was only $3 cheaper than at a nearby very nice sit-down restaurant, and that meal included appetizers. We like the food, but I won't rush back. read more

We really like it. i always say, if you are in Deep Creek, you might as well give it a try. If you like it, it's a fun thing to look forward to when going back to the lake. I see some people complaining about the sauce but im not sure how that could ruin the whole experience. Archies has great food and atmosphere at the lake. The beef brisket is a must have as well as their baked beans. They are more like a baked bean chili with brisket, pork, hot dog, onion etc chopped into the mix. It's a must stop if you are visiting the lake. Archie's is, by far, my favorite barbeque! They even caterered our wedding. Debbie is the sweetest lady! Living in Pittsburgh, we would drive the 2.5 hours to Deep Creek just for Archie's! It's that good! My favorites are the ribs and pulled pork. My husband loves the potato salad and beef brisket. Their sauce is also amazing! Oh, and the cornbread is to die for! We went there as a family and were not disappointed. The weather was mild so we decided to sit outside on the picnic tables. They were clean and weel stocked with condiments. I ordered the pulled pork sandwich and my hubby ordered the ribs. Both were fantastic! The pulled pork was saucy and had a good smoky flavor. The ribs were meaty and messy. Just the way we like them. Brisket is a must have. Deep Creek had several restaurants we enjoyed; however, this was our favorite. Not really a BBQ gal, until I found BBQ heaven at Archie's. So you walk up to this place and it screams authentic bbq. The old lumber look of the building and the giant pig outside just make the place. As soon as you open the front door the smells of there awesome homemade bbq sauce hits you right in the face and instantly makes you hungry. You look up and see a huge sign with all the menu items. They have everything you would expect and more from, ribs, smoked chicken, pulled pork sandwiches, and many others plus tons of sides including my favorite the baked sweet potato with butter and brown sugar.
