Canalside - This strawberry salad with chicken and vinaigrette was absolutely amazing

What a fun little lunch venue! I was taking a tour of the Niagara falls area and my friend…read moresuggested we go eat here. I'm so glad we did because this is really a great place to stop. It's cool because not only do you have the inside of the restaurant to eat in, they also have an across the street seating which is serviced by a waitress. That is a great feature for those who want to sit alongside of the canal and enjoy the outdoors. We were seated right away, and our waitress came up and took our orders. My friend had the pulled pork sandwich and I opted for something a little healthier, which would be a strawberry salad with grilled chicken. It also came with a vinaigrette. The salad was absolutely lovely, the chicken was cooked to perfection, was moist and juicy, and that vinaigrette sauce combined with the strawberries was absolutely to die for. Overall. It was one of the better dining experiences I've had and I would highly recommend this place. Bottom line? If you are out and about down by the canal, you should do yourself a favor and check out canalside. It is definitely worth your time and a perfect way to relax, cool off, and sort out the rest of your day.

The best part is the view of the canal from the patio or from the front of the restaurant. When a boat goes by the lift bridge goes up, it is something very neat to see. There is also an Airbnb upstairs so you can have dinner here and head up to your room, all without losing that cool view.

We went with the Uncle Papi, which can only be described as pizza and a fried chicken sandwich having a beautiful, messy love child. The chicken filet was impressively large, and the Sunday sauce? So good it would absolutely earn a seal of approval from my Italian grandma. The fries were plentiful, and while I regret not testing one of their fun dipping sauces, the house-made blue cheese did not disappoint. We also ordered the Messy Pressy (aka the poutine burger), and it lived up to its name in the best possible way. Delicious, indulgent, and led to a nap on the ride home. Already looking forward to coming back--and possibly making it a personal goal to work my way through every burger and sandwich on the menu. Those brunch burgs are calling my name, and I'm not ignoring them.

We attempted to figure out if they had sweet and low for the iced tea, the cashier girl told me to check with the bar!? Nope. Blasting music so loud we couldn't hear each other. $50 for two smallish burgers and an order of sweet potato fries with hard cinnamon butter was enough for one visit. Don't waste your time or money. Bathroom was also pretty dirty as well.

Not the best seat, would've preferred somewhere a little further from the next booth to us. They had flags for the teams of the World Cup and then another set for the top 16. The food was really good, homemade fries and fresh made chips. Everything we had ordered was very good.

Massive menu of burgers, spanning a range of style from thick to smash, flames to griddle, and even typed of meat or non-meat. Quite frankly, if you can't find a burger that calls to you here, you must be very difficult to please. It was a Sunday, and the general area was thumping, this place was about half full and the vibe was relaxed. They're not on the absolutely main drag of Clifton Hill, and honestly, I would hope that benefits them both in price of rent and who might find it easy to wander in. There is paid parking nearby, cheaper than most because to get down to the falls is a bit of a hike. The hike back will be pretty far uphill, but we made it no problem. I love that the sodas come in a giant measuring cup, not much need for a refill, but they do give them complimentary if you ask for one. We started with standard poutine as an appetizer, it was really tasty. Nice flavor on the gravy, and a large amount of cheese curds. Instead of getting more fries as a side, went for a caesar salad. Was surprised to see bacon on it, but I definitely didn't hate that. It was quite good. I got a double smash burger with a nice thick onion ring on it and their version of burger sauce, as well as a spice relish to kick things up a notch. First thing, my patties were smashed very nicely, and there was a clear crispy crust on them. Bravo, I was pretty impressed, and the flavor was robust. I loved the spicy relish, and the bun also complemented the meat well. It was a big burger, and I was thoroughly satisfied. The service, maybe could have been slightly more attentive, but really just took awhile to take our order. Once it was taken, we had no complaints. Very friendly, everything was accurate, and like I said... big drink cups means not a ton of need for refills. I would come back here again on a future visit to the falls.

I ended up playing several funny rounds of ad-libs with strangers which totally made the evening. I felt welcomed and comfortable, like I immediately was one of the regulars even my first time there. The beer is great and they have a ton of options including stuff on tap and in cans. Look for the tv on the wall for the list of current beers on tap; it's on the far left side of the bar just above the large front windows. My curly fries and chicken strips were perfection - think of the best possible version of those things and that's what I got here. This came with sides of BBQ sauce, blue cheese dip, and ketchup. I greatly enjoyed my pumpkin ale and would happily drink this again. I appreciate that there are so many vegan options on the menu (not my thing but it's nice to have a place to bring vegan friends!). A surprising very cool thing was the restroom. There is great art all over the walls! Check it out even if you don't need to, you won't regret it. I sat at the bar; there is another room with tables and a pool table and I think I spotted some hidden booths in the back. There are also a few outdoor tables out front. Lighting is pretty dim so if you're going to read a book, choose your seat strategically. General volume is on the louder side. Parking is on the street. I saw that they do trivia on Monday nights; there are a ton of flyers for upcoming events in the front window. Overall this was a very easy place to give five stars to.

I got the vegan Mac n cheese and the chicken tenders with fries. Everything I got wasn't good, the breading on the 'chicken' was disappointing and tasted like old oil. The vegan blue cheese was good surprisingly cuz I don't care for the real thing at all. The fries were fine but the Mac n cheese had absolutely no flavor, my kids said to me that mine was better and they aren't that picky with food elsewhere unless it doesn't taste like anything. For that I'll still be back to try other things cuz I appreciate the effort in making vegan food for us vegans out there.
