But this is one of those places where I feel ok paying a lot right now because the quality is there and the sandwiches are big. Along with the side of fries we shared, it was enough for two meals. It was really delicious!! They roast the turkey breast themselves and the jalapeno bread is out of this world. Got take out for a work lunch. When first looking at the menu the prices were a little shocking, but when we got the food and saw the sizes it made sense. I had an assorted on sour dough. It was delicious and had plenty of meat. Coworker had the steak sandwich and was happy with it. I ordered to go the 1st day picked my food up I was in and out even left a tip and was 100% satisfied. As a Business owner myself and dealing with the general public customers come into my establishment daily on the their phones and I still greet them, serve them and have them in and out not refusing service because they are on the phone. Some of us can walk and chew gum at the same time. As you can see, they don't skimp on anything with these sandwiches and they were both delicious and filling. I can't say enough about the great service and food here. They have a sit down area where you can be waited on and eat there. Or they have a take out counter that feels like a counter straight from the city. This spot has such a great feel to it and really makes for a great lunch spot. And the pie? ABSOLUTELY DELICIOUS. You can tell it's homemade and it's the best way to end this great meal. Great lunch spot on Delaware! Stopped here after visiting the new art museum addition. My wife ordered their chicken Hawaiian sandwich on sour dough bread which is served with chips. She loved it!! Orderd lunch today for the first time in a while. While always pricey, the food at Chris' is normally top tier delicious. Today however, was disappointing. The Tuna Mac salad was loaded with too much mayo, very skimpy of the peas too. Also, there was so little tuna that I could barely taste that it was tuna salad and not just macaroni salad. $5 for macaroni and mayonnaise is outrageous. I won't be ordering it again which is disappointing as it has always been great in the past. Got a sandwich to go the other day and it wasn't the same experience as it was in house. The sandwich was MASSIVE but wasn't cut in half, so I struggled to eat it while at work. This is another place that I live right next to and tried for the first time today. I enjoyed it! Food is fairly priced and the portions are above average. The goat cheese turkey burger was exceptionally good tasting while my jerk turkey burger was above average. I would highly suggest getting fries they were very good for a couple dollars more. The buns were fresh which was very tasty. Only reason I would knock Chris' a couple stars would be because of the short hours and the longer wait times to get food. Closing at 2:30 pm kind of limits them in a big way as well . Our food did take a little bit longer to come and the check was a little longer as well. Overall, if you have nothing going on for a weekday lunch and are looking to fill up on some good food this is the place! Great portions, good price, great tasting. Update: went back to Chris' which is now doing dinner until 8 pm where you can sit outside and ordered the Vendetta sandwich and wow was this worth updating. This sandwich was amazing and I even had half of it the next day and it was still good! The hours seem to be extended during the current times which is exciting because I've wanted to try more things on the menu but it's always hard because they closed at 2:30. I'm soooooo glad Chris' is back!! This place recently suffered a serious setback with a fire (1-2 years ago, I think) that essentially destroyed the entire restaurant, put in-restaurant dining on hold for a little more than a year...BUT! This place is back with a fresh, new look, and the taste is better than it's ever been! My dad originally tipped me off to this place; it's definitely in his top favorite downtown lunch spots. I'd go as far to say, it's one of the best. The food here is a good size for your buck, and it's not overly heavy or filling. Don't get me started on how good it is! Chris' is the sort of place you definitely have to do a little planning of the day's schedule beforehand, since they're only open during lunch hours. It's sort of a small space, but there's a ton of places to sit. I have to say, i prefer the new look over the old one. Now the restaurant looks classy, but casual - most definitely the sort of place I would love to sit in and dine. I'd suggest getting there around the time that they open for the day if you want to dine in, though we've never had a problem getting a table during a busy lunch rush. That being said, if it's a nice Buffalo day (for once) and there's an open table at the patio outside, TAKE IT!! The menu here is phenomenal. There are dozens of things to choose from, from sandwiches to salads and soups, and every dish (especially the sandwiches) are pretty massive. I don't know if the cook knows just how good he or she is, but there's a reason this place is truly a hidden gem of sorts. I can't resist their fish here - it's probably the best thing on their menu (though, I've had a couple of their other sandwiches, and they are definitely the bomb dot com too). My favorite is the Fish Taco, which isn't a 'taco' so much as a giant wrap with fish, lettuce, tomato, spicy mayo, and poppyseeds, but hey...it's pretty darn good. The service here is just as fantastic, even better. Love the women who work here! Beth is always so nice to us, and even though Courtney was new, I loved being served by her! She was so incredibly friendly and pleasantly talkative. They have take-out and do deliveries as well, if you can't make it in or can't stay for very long. Take out a loan for a sandwich. Paid just under 20 bux for a 'to-go' pastrami reuben last week (10/2024.). I would have said no thanks if I weren't in such shock. While delicious, it came with no pickle, no chips and wasn't even sliced in half. I was in Manhattan proper a few months ago and paid 18.50 for an equivalent with fries pickle and service (not including tip.).
