Jim and his team came out to do the install and addressed some additional needs to increase the air flow, make the existing unit up to proper code, and make the filter track so it fit filters appropriately. The last unit installation I'm sure was a DIY job or done by a less qualified company. Jim addressed all those issues. I was on a meeting when he was all finished and didn't get to go see the finished product until after he left. It was beautifully done and very neat.

They talked to me about the system and what I can do to maintain it. The price was fair and what they quoted originally did not change after the work had been done. She said we did not call to follow up on their bid. It's THEIR responsibility to follow up on bids. We've paid them many thousands of dollars over the years. Super unprofessional IMO. Goldkamp actually responded faster and has cheaper service call charge.

The motor was out. Groaning and groaning. It's outside. I can't hear that. And I don't go check that. Bob gave me a new motor and on top of that did my fall inspection for the furnace, and I'm good to go when it gets cold. Changed out the filter and performed other appropriate seasonal checks. Spectacular service. Amazing people. Bob is good. He knows his stuff. He's been in the business for a long time.

This spring, the first technician took way longer than my previous experiences had been but my AC was serviced. I actually didn't turn it on until June but the downstairs unit was not cooling. The upstairs unit was great. Another tech, much older dude, came by and when we went out to the two units, he saw that the faulty unit wasn't switched ON. Flipping the switch got the first floor unit cooling again. He said he wouldn't charge me. (BECAUSE IT WAS THE FIRST TECHNICIAN'S MISTAKE!) I guess I now know to ask if the units are TURNED ON before they leave to avoid a headache. Things have been nice and cool all summer but what a boneheaded mistake.

Nothing was diagnosed, nothing was resolved, and the system was left in worse condition than before. When I spoke with the supervisor, I was offered a return visit -- but only if I paid another service fee and hourly rate. The suggestion was that "we can watch the furnace all day," but at my expense. Meanwhile, I was already charged for a full hour even though the technician was reportedly there for 48 minutes. If they're rounding up, it raises the question of whether I'm entitled to the remaining time I paid for. At this point, the pattern feels less like a repair‑focused service and more like a replace‑the-unit operation.
