There are three reasons to come here: 1) fries and fry sauce 2) Lime rickey 3) cheese curds. Burgers are fine and so are other items but the fry sauce is definitely the star of the show. Miss having these in the Portland area.

    Fries( $3.79) and a 1/4 pound Mushroom Swiss Burger.($7.49).

Arctic Circle is pretty good. The young people at the drive thru are friendly and helpful. It is one of those small town burger and ice cream joints. It originated in Utah I think so there is fry sauce, which the kid especially loves. We have had fish and chips, burgers, shakes, sundaes, a grilled chicken sandwich, cheese curds, onion rings, milkshakes, hot dogs, tater tots, mini tacos (we do not recommend these), and chicken strips. We have fed the boyfriend and other friends here. Because 19-23 year olds can eat. A lot. The kid has landed on the junior bacon cheeseburger as the favored order. I have liked my mushroom swiss burger the best overall. We may have been there a few times because we don't really do the usual drive thru suspects and there is no Burgerville. Last time we got milkshakes, and my peanut butter cup shake had huge pieces of the candy in it. Well, cool.

A rare find! I haven't seen one of these in years. We were on our way home from Yachats and spotted this location. So cool. I remember going to one of these in Portland growing up. It's been many, many years. We used the drive-thru. The employee was patient and helpful. It took us a while to peruse the menu. We ended up getting the halibut sandwich, cheese curds, hot dog, and a vanilla malt shake. Everything was delicious! The halibut sandwich was surprisingly fresh and meaty. I would totally order it again. My husband really liked his hot dog. The frank itself was split in half lengthwise. He liked the mayo, mustard, relish, and onions on top. The cheese curds were cooked perfectly... not greasy at all. Overall, we were pleasantly surprised by our fast food experience. We'll definitely stop in again the next time we're in Newport! Highly recommend.

I ate the halibut so fast. I couldn't get a picture.

This place is SUPER clean, amazing service and the food: shef's kiss. The halibut is the best I've ever had and I don't normally like fish!

    The mighty country chicken sandwich

Behold the country chicken sandwich with cheddar cheese. (Which country is that, Russia? ). Worst. Chicken. Sandwich. Ever. I laughed, took some pictures, laughed some more and then threw it in the trash.

This review is for their dessert. * We drove thru for a much needed cool down. This place has been around for many years and I believe it's either the only location left in Oregon lor one of two left in Oregon. Ice cream is probably my favorite dessert. The twist cones are a hit! Decent size. Strawberry root beer seemed unique so I went it off my normal vanilla and I'm so glad I did! Every lick made my taste buds dance. Don't pass this place up for their ice cream! I'll be back for their burgers next time I'm in town. The sundae was also delish!

    Cheese curds with ranch

Super Great employees very fast and friendly. Kid's meal was very big and tasty with ex white sauce on my burger and hot fresh fries. Cheese curds were good sized and hot had a ranch with them. Thanks from Hillsboro or.

Was in a hurry between family obligations so decided to grab some fast food here as I wouldn't have an opportunity to eat again for awhile. Ordered a pastrami burger and a chocolate chip milkshake. I was given a number and had a seat in the dining area - my food was delivered within five minutes. The burger was medium-well and the pastrami was decent quality. The melty cheese and the fresh tomato, lettuce, etc. made it an above average fast food burger. The fries were good - crisp exterior and soft inside. The milkshake was fantastic. They offer a huge number of flavors. My vanilla shake with tiny chocolate chips was thick (they serve it with a spoon) and had a mind-blowing amount of chips. I took it with me and it quickly became straw-suckable in the day's heat. By the time I finished the shake there was a mound of chocolate chips in the bottom; a delicious surprise for a person with a sweet tooth.

I was happy to see that Newport Cafe was still around. I went in to look at the menu, sat down, and ordered. When the food came and I started to eat, I thought this would play out like another 4 star event. Let me preface this by saying that Newport Cafe currently gets 2 stars from me, with the two words assigned to those stars being: CHISELING CENTRAL I ordered the meatloaf, which had a nice garnish vegetables, and the mashed potatoes with gravy. I also ordered lemonade. I ate and asked for the bill. When the bill arrived, I saw that there was a $2 upcharge for a side of gravy, the same gravy that went onto the mashed potatoes. Rarely have I seen meatloaf presented "dry." It typically has gravy or a tomato based sauce on it. Waiter #1, who took my order, was the nicer of the two guys. Waiter #2 brought me the check. I'm used to paying up charges for extra bleu cheese, tartar sauce, or tzatziki sauce, but not for pedestrian gravy and certainly not $2 at a roadside diner. Waiter #2 got testy when I asked him about the charge, told him that I've not seen meatloaf presented "dry," and I don't think I've ever been charged for gravy. His smart alecky answer before walking away was, "I can tell." At this point, I just wanted to pay the bill and get out of there. I was able to get waiter #1's attention. I brought up the same issue since he was more affable and seated me. In fact, he and I discussed a sauce his grandparents would apply to their meat loaf! He said that the charges are listed and it's treated as a side. I don't think that a person would move from the dinner menu list ... to the backside of the menu to scour it for sides for gravy, like they would for additional vegetables or potatoes. I told him he could have also told me it was extra because I would have passed. This isn't about being petty as much as it is about Newport Cafe obfuscating the situation. In a few minutes, it got even worse. The credit card used fee was obviously pegged at 4%, which might even be higher than what the credit card companies really charge them. This then starts looking similar to the subplot in the comedy "Office Space," where small rounding amounts add up to some moolah over a lot of customers. It got even worse when they brought me the credit card point of sale machine. Upon entering my tab, I saw a much higher amount displayed. Waiter #1 told me it was the suggested tip. The tip was in the ball park of 25%! He told me I could change it. You can bet I did. (Upon recently having breakfast at IHOP, the available tip options were 15%, 18%, 20%, and other.) With such a crazy amount on there, the buyer who is not the sharpest tool in the shed with numbers might accidentally tap the "accept" button. I changed the tip to zero. I've done that less than a handful of times in my life. The math indicates that $2.00 for the pedestrian gravy and 84 cents for the credit card fee add up to $2.84, thus a 15% tip of the base in and of themselves. I do think it is tacky to stiff a server. However I saw a boss do it and it was warranted. We were in a nicer Italian restaurant in Manhattan for work and, at the end of the dinner, my boss stacked a couple of the plates. The petulant Italian waiter - from Italy - at this pissy restaurant said 'No, no, no, you don't stack the plates at a nice restaurant.' My boss was insulted by this, and so was I, whereby an arrogant foreign waiter berated my white collar boss to give her a crash course on "executive charm school" manners. I bring this up because she entered a big glaring zero as the tip amount. With the flippant "I can tell" comment and $2.84 in fees, there's your tip. The food was good, but not spectacular. It's basic comfort food. I remember liking their fish and chips more and how, some ten years ago, it was a benign and relaxing experience. It goes without saying that Newport Cafe's location and decor is interesting. Thinking about the credit card usage fee, that means it's also applied to the already overpriced sweatshirts and other tourist paraphernalia they sell. I could see the cooks hard at work when I went to use the restroom before settling in. It's too bad that this went south so quickly. I watched the sea lions bark for about 15 minutes and got back on the road. I really would have liked to have eaten in Lincoln City, but Maxwell's is no longer around, and I didn't think I could hold out until Lincoln City. With that linear experience where they bring you tasty fish and chips, you pay normal prices, there are no weird upcharges and a preset tip that you have to undo gone, it's time to move on. Again, I'm at 2 stars. I've already suggested the 2 words CHISELING CENTRAL to accompany the 2 stars. I could also go with the 2 words TOURIST TRAP

First off, their customer service is off the hook, everyone was so friendly and welcoming. We ordered two drinks that were great. Making an attempt to be semi-healthy, we order two salads with roast chicken breast but also ordered onion rings and curly fries. The fries and onion rings came out first, they were delicious. The onion rings were perfect, just the right amount of batter and a great flavor. The crispy fries were also really good, I think my husband wanted more seasoning on them, but I thought it was fine. Then came the salads. Wow, they are huge. Not only that, they were made of the most fresh veggies and a great variety of them. The grilled chicken on top was excellent. Since we had somewhat filled up on fried stuff, I was able to eat just under half of the salad. But they do have to go boxes. I would recommend splitting a salad if there are two of you, especially if you have an appetizer. Near the end of the meal, a manager or owner was talking with all of the tables. He could not have been friendlier or more welcoming. If only all restaurants had staff this nice. We will be coming back!

Would highly recommend this place not only for the food but the people and support to the community.
