This Utah based fast food chain has some cool things going for it. Drinks and... the fry sauce! For me it's the Lime Rickey! And the fry sauce. It's an Arctic Circle thing... a lime/grape beverage. If you're craving an ice cream treat, I can see the appeal of a place like this, as they have a large selection of very tempting sweets. Unfortunately, my stomach has decided that it hates ice cream and revolts when I try to sample any dairy, so I am very sadly out of luck with any of that. So, then I'm left with the menu of regular food items--burgers, hot/corn dogs, fish, chicken sandwiches and tenders, fries, curly fries, tots, cheese curds... all good and tasty things in their own right. However, they're only done to the level that you'd expect from a cheap, average fast food joint. Except their prices are noticeably higher, and their food is noticeably greasier than you'd even get at most fast food chains these days. You want to stop because their "schtick" of being an old-fashioned car hop type place of yesteryear is also a disappointment. There no longer is any car hop service, nor can you order from your car if parked in their lot (as you can at Sonic) and have your food brought to you. They have a drive thru, and they have a parking lot where you can sit in your car and eat your food if you want. But ultimately, you're sitting at a fast food restaurant eating fast food in your car. Not very fun, and a little sad. But, part of their parking lot is shaded, so if it's a hot day... there is that. I still stop many times that I am camping or staying in Newport, always hoping I'll hit the menu jackpot and buy something really delicious. Last time, my BF got a jr bacon cheeseburger and cheese curds, and I got the halibut sandwich and tots. His "junior" bacon cheeseburger was very junior, make no mistake, so if you want just a small burger, you will be pleased that that's what it is. I had one of two of his cheese curds and found them to just be flavorless and not super cheesy, just greasy. My tots, also, were lacking in any kind of seasoning, so were very 'meh.' I noticed as we drove off with our food that their road sign humbly and simply proclaimed "BEST HALIBUT." Just, no. It was above McDonald's fish sandwich but frankly below Burger King, DQ, and certainly well below Burgerville's fish sandwiches. It did have a nice soft potato roll. I, and the crow I fed some of it to, enjoyed that part. So bottom line, don't be sucked in by their promise of nostalgia. It's just a fast food joint with slightly higher prices than larger chains. Their food is average, often greasy. But they do have a large selection of ice cream treats, which I would go back for just that, if I could still eat ice cream. But I can't. And I'm sad. read more

Good location just off highway and easy to find. Ordered food to go. Burgers were kind of sloppy and drippy, but don't expect a whole lot from fast food places nowadays. Reese's milkshakes was good but half was chunks of Reese's... had to eat most of the shake rather than drink it. Crisscut fries were the highlight especially paired with the fry sauce. I'm never quite sure what to think when I get bad food at a place that consistently gets 4 and 5 stars on Yelp. Was today just an off day for them? Did going between lunch and dinner-time catch them between shifts? Is it because this is not summer tourism season? I don't know what the problem was, but I was really primed for a good burger -- and the double cheeseburger I got was nothing but awful. The cheese was dried out at the corners. The meat tasted old. The shreds of lettuce tasted of chemical preservatives. 1 pickle? Really? And too much mayo/ketchup. The bun was really fresh. That's about the only positive thing I can find to say -- except that my dog got most of the burger after I scraped all the mayo-soaked lettuce into the trash. I should probably give them another try to see if it was just a fluke -- but it's really pricey for dog food, and he likes Purina better. read more

This review Is solely based on the fry sauce that's y it gets 5 stars. I love arctic circle. I ate there as a child. Then they became very few and far between. I've driven to portland, newport, and Wyoming to eat at arctic circle. I'm trying to eat all of the ones left. The burgers are okay the fry sauce is the best ever. I love this place so much just Cuz it brings back so many wonderful childhood memories. read more

We were so excited to see an Artic Circle as there are none left in Washington. Our excitement was tripled when we saw the 2 cheeseburger, 2 fries for $3.99 deal. With drinks and a kid's meal for my son, the bill came to less than $10. The burger was tasty and the fries were perfect. I forgot how much I love the fry sauce (which is available for purchase). Great hometown fast food burger joint. Forgo the king or billion served places down the street. The hubby and I each had 1/4 lb cheese burgers, sampled french fries and onion rings, and a pineapple malt. The meat patties rival the other fast food places, but the toppings were fresh, the pickles phenomenal, and the condiments resulted in a juicy explosion between the super soft and yummy potato bun. French fries are potato-ey "natural" style and the onion rings (off the chism!). And the fry sauce?! Yummers! Pineapple malt was good, though something about the consistency was different and I couldn't quite place it... kind of like it was blended with whipping cream to "fluff" it up?! Maybe I was just full from gorging myself on the meal. We will sample the shake flavors in the future. It is the only place we will go when in the mood for a burger. read more

This place was actually pretty great..We ordered, got our drinks & sat down, literally 30 seconds later our food was in front of us. The customer service was awesome. My family also liked that you can get self serve ketchup or fry sauce that was nice . My mother in law & I got cheeseburgers, they were good. Mike got the pastrami burger, which he said was great, it was a good portion size too.The fries were our favorite though, they gave us huge overflowing portion. This is the best fast food in the world!! There is a place in Idaho called wheelers I would compare them to that which they are also the best in the world. This location always seems a little dirty and greasy inside. We never really go for the burgers. Arctic Circle is all about the ice cream. It's kind of an outcast for ice cream if you think about all the ice cream shops in the area, but it's good here. The "milkshakes" are really good. Think Dairy Queen blizzard, but way better. They also have kids sized cones for $.35. Always nice and better than getting a huge cone for your kid who only takes a few bites. read more

My wife and I come here every time we're in Newport and I eat WAAAAY too much when I'm there. No joke. Was there yesterday, if fact, and ordered a #10 large and the Pastrami burger meal medium sized. I also ordered an order of onion rings and a foot long hot dog. Soooo... My food was perfect. I can't improve on that. I like that they make a sauce out of mayo, mustard, and relish and put it on the hot dogs (which are split in half and grilled). My wife thought they put too much pastrami on the pastrami burger, but that's about it. Love this place. read more

This looks like one of those places that could easily be pretty bad. I stopped by one evening when I was in town to do some fieldwork and up late in Newport. I discussed GF options with the speaker voice and they said the shakes and ice cream were GF so long as they didn't put the usual vanilla wafer on top. They did anyway, but realized their mistake and remade the entire shake without my asking. Everyone working here was extremely nice and helpful. I had a chocolate shake with real huckleberries in it and it far surpassed nearly any frozen dessert beverage I've had elsewhere. Arctic Circle is worth a stop even if you're just passing through. read more

I stopped in and told the friendly girl at the counter that I had played on an Arctic Circle Drive-In sponsored Little League team. About 45 years ago. (True story, too). I didn't get a free order of fries, but I was willing to pay for them any way. AC fries and fry sauce. Worth driving over the Rocky Mountains to find. The mushroom and Swiss burger had an Erie gray juice dripping out of it and the taste was horrendous. The staff was kind and replaced it with a chicken sandwich that I didn't like either... And FYI I'm no picky eater. I just think the quality is sub par. The fries tasted great and the staff was super friendly and accommodating. 2 stars because I left feeling I overpaid for subpar food. Nearly $25 and I had fries and a drink, my kids shared a meal and my wife got a meal. The ice cream sundae was tiny with two globs of "cold" hot fudge scooped on top. The food has always been good here so I was disappointed when it was below their usual standard. This time the meat seemed like it was steamed not fried. It was gray. We asked if the #1 had two pieces of meat on it and they said no but it not only had two pieces of meat but 2 pieces of cheese and an extra piece of bread. Food was average, very similar to a Dairy Queen. Kids were starving and we stopped here for lunch. Fry sauce was good, had never tasted that. The dining room needed a little attention, but I guess they hadn't had a chance to clean up, when we left a young man was getting it cleaned up.
