Food was delicious and large serving. We shared a fish platter with tater tots and a bowl of clam chowder. The clam chowder was the best in the area from five different restaurants that I tried while here on vacation. If nothing else just get some clam chowder here. Service was excellent. I've been here a couple of times and it feels so homey! The food is pretty cheap compared to other places of similar quality, and there are many options (including allergen free options). The staff are AMAZING no matter who you are! My only issue would be that there are flies around the windows sometimes, but other than that I think this place is definitely a good spot to hit if you're looking for a nice meal in Newport! read more

We went to breakfast.... which i love - but also have to admit that it's kind of hard to screw up. The food was good, but i want to talk more about the service. This place's staff is so super friendly and warm and welcoming! We chatted with everyone! It gets pretty crowded, and we were there at a peak time, so it was bustle-y and busy.... but i asked about our servers tattoos and she stopped and shared the entire story with me. Sometimes in a touristy location, they just want you to get in, eat, and get out. THIS was not THAT!! I requested a biscuit rather than the corn tortillas that would usually be served with this entree. I loved each and every bite! The meal included beans (black and pinto combo) two eggs (I chose over easy) salsa, the best chile relleno I've ever had the pleasure to eat. The coffee was great too. If they were local to where I live, I'd be back to try everything else on the menu. We showed up for a late lunch around 130 pm on a Saturday and the cafe was packed. We only had about a ten minute wait to get a table for four. They have a large menu, something for everyone.   We got the taco salad, crab melt, side of french fries and a cheeseburger.   The taco salad was huge! We could have shared. The shell was fried in house and loaded with ground beef, lettuce and all the fixings.  The crab melt was good but messy. The crab had a bit more mayo than I'm used to so with each bite, the mayo mixture seeped out. The meal came with a generous portion of french fries. I'd probably order something else next time.  The cheeseburger was good. Standard cheeseburger, cooked as it should be, no complaints.   There is indoor and outdoor dining. Although, if you eat outside,  I believe their sign said it comes with a charge for take-out boxes.  The cafe offers take-out, delivery and is open seven days a week.  The workers impressed me. They were focused on getting to each table quick and running food out. They were in constant motion.  Newport Cafe is located just off the highway. Lots of parking. Call in your order ahead of time for take-out. Looking forward to our next visit. read more

I really wanted to like this place more, but the cook burnt the bun for my burger and served it to me anyway. The fries were good, and the coffee was tasty. The waitress was nice and helpful. I did not eat in Newport cafe but went inside to order pick up. The staff is all friendly and delivered it to my car. We ate it at the beach and truly enjoyed the food. The clam chowder is packed with all the ingredients and has great flavor. They also pack everything you need to go. My sandwich was a crab sandwich and it hit the spot I was looking for. Great Breakfast Experience @ Newport Cafe in Newport, OR. !! First time patrons to this Cafe during the late morning rush on a Friday. The staff acknowledged us upon entry and guided us to an open table. They were friendly enough, but did not adhere to the first come, first serve unspoken rule, so we were a little put off when they took someone else's order before us, who clearly arrived after us. Extensive breakfast food options. We appreciated the well stocked selection of condiments provided at every table. The coffee was average and our meals were delicious, served hot, and the side of bacon, crisp. Portion sizes were more than enough. The restaurant itself leans toward old-fashioned, but clean and colorful. They had logo merchandise for purchase. The dining area was on the smaller side, but the tables were adequately spaced out. After hearing it recommended by several locals, we had to try it. Portions really are massive, and our fish and chips were spot on, not too bready and crispy in all the right places. The burgers looked ginormous. Also: breakfast all day, 7 days a week! Seems to always be busy, so you may wait to get in, but the service is decent and with a smile. I said good lord this place is an absolute must if you're in the area. Driving around and I needed food. I like the old school, been here a min/dive vibe so I stopped in. Unfortunately their card matching was down but luckily had 20 in cash which was enough for clam chowder and biscuits gravy. Man, everything hit all the flavor points and some. Chowder was just right and warm, gravy was flavorful and doughy. I wish I could have tried more of their stuff. We we're heading on through the Oregon coast back to California and we stopped in here at the Newport Cafe and the people that work here are so polite and nice that people come in here and they all know everybody.
