Well ... so much for finding a replacement for Lakefront Andiamo as our "go to" local choice for dinner. Granted, it has been several years now since Lakefront gave way to the insult that is Rojo, but we soldier on, still hopeful that there will turn up a place worthy of 3-4 visits a month. Anyway, I digress ... We showed up and were very encouraged early on. The wait staff here are extremely friendly and accommodating and the "feel" of the place is great. Who would feel bad eating in an old Victorian-style home with linen tablecloths and tasteful art adorning the walls? Furthering our expectations were the salad ... mixed greens with a homemade raspberry balsamic dressing that was outstanding, and the soup ... chicken vegetable that wasn't over-salted and let the vegetables carry the flavor. So ... This was heading for a 4 or 5 star showing ... That is until our entrees arrived. And I take no joy in telling you that we'd have been better served to leave after the salad/soup experience. How disappointing. I had the pork medallions topped with apples, cranberries and walnuts which came with garlic-mashed potatoes and a veggie medley. Potatoes were very good ... great flavor and perfect portion. The pork was ... the pork was ... what's a word that means "the demise of everything positive" or "the two steps back after the one step forward"? So sad ... chewy, absolutely devoid of flavor and obviously just awakened from its frozen slumber. Darn. As for the second entree of Atlantic Salmon, the same could be said ... in spades. I'm not just saying that for dramatic affect either. It had no flavor, save the fishy, once-frozen aftertaste that made me question whether or not the filet wasn't possibly past it's freshness date. I cannot recall a time when we had a small lunch-portion of food left over from a meal and chose not to take it home. Ugh ... dessert didn't make it much better. I'd go on about dry carrot cake but at this point, it'd feel like piling on. The people were so nice that I feel somewhere between disloyal and disheartened about writing this review. We're hoping that maybe lunch is their thing ... you know, a good grilled chicken salad or something of the like. Anyway, we are going to give it a shot for a mid-day meal, ... but dinner? Unbelievable experience!! Came at 7:30p on a Saturday and we were treated like VIPs. Everything from bread basket to martinis and excellent specials make it a MUST for the perfect night out. FINE TV DINNER DINING I've been in the restaurant business for many years as a cook/bartender/server/manager and have a set of quality standards all of which I'm very peculiar of. I like to know where my food comes from and how it's prepared. Luckily from where I was sitting, I had a clear view of the "kitchen" which consists of a wall of microwaves, salad station and a 3 sink dishtank. "Where's the stove? Grill? Kitchen equipment?" I thought to myself as curiousity took over, due to all the microwave beeps going off through the course of dinner service. Then, I witness the cook and the one of the owners in the kitchen just going crazy on the microwaves. "No way..." I thought to myself. Discovering that the stuffed salmon I had ordered just came out of a microwave. Then I started thinking... "Holy s*** it's all microwaved. Everything." The kitchen was small and I took a closer peek when staff wasn't present for a brief moment. I counted 6 microwaves and a small electric griddle, (my guess and hopes were for the steaks). Nothing else. No range stove, oven, grill, broiler... just 6 microwaves. Personally, for the price, not worth microwaved fish/meats and lord only knows what else. Needless to say we barely ate the food, it was awful and was CLEARLY microwaved. We paid our bill and left, never to return, forever to pass the word onto anyone who asks. I would've had finer food at burger king, but hey, if microwaved food is for you then by all means order their lobster tail or duck... I shudder at the thought of "fine microwaved dining". read more

I used to go here with my grandmother regularly when it was still the Victorian Place and we loved it. Many fond memories. Now, the food is bland, staff is rude and non-responsive and it is ridiculously overpriced. HOWEVER the main reason I will not give this place another chance is that the owners were extremely rude to my mother when she arrived to inquire about booking 2 wedding showers. She was refused help, ignored, and when she went looking for someone and peeked around a corner, one of the owners confronted and barked at her, "Excuse me can you SEE we are TRYING to have an event here?!" Bad move, guys. Nobody treats my mother that way. You lost out on thousands of dollars of business with that one rude comment...times two. Actually times more than that, because I'm never recommending this place to anyone so long as the current ownership holds. Thanks for removing 20 years of fond memories from that beautiful building, and way to treat your community. You might hold out as a business by milking one-time stoppers for all you can, but that won't last forever. Shame. read more

I was really excited to try this place, but I quickly learned this place is geared mostly towards old folks. The food is average at best. My spouse and I both salads and both were obviously a prepackaged mix that was near expiration as many leaves were wilted. If I wanted a prepackaged salad, I wouldn't go to a sit down restaurant. Service was fine and I could see how the Victorian style atmosphere would appeal to many. However, with the low quality food for the cost, I would not return. read more

I went in for my birthday which is around Christmas (Dec. 30th) for lunch w/ my hubby. WOW!!! SO Pretty!! The decorations were so beautifully done. VERY Impressed. There are quaint little shops and a Bakery Hair Salon and Massage. An Office. There are 3 also very quaint dinning areas. Open for Lunch and Dinner Thurs. and Friday. Sometime host an afternoon Tea. Come and see You will be impressed.;) I was so impressed that I took my girlfriend and daughter to lunch, let me just say the word is out they also Loved it. Brought there friends for the Tea!!! I ended up having to go back with family, and it was a MUCH better experience! Honestly, I can't remember what I got as this was a few months back, but I know it was some type of sandwich and it really was really good, I feel bad for my previous negative review now, but hey..that was truly an awful experience! The food is wonderful, and staff always friendly............it's the kind of place Where you may even engage with other patrons. Many different rooms that make you Feel as if you live there. We have a birthday party luncheon for my mother here. The food was excellent; the service was excellent... we couldn't have been happier with everything. The portions were large and fresh. The desert was great as well. The owner came by and asked if we needed anything; he couldn't have been nicer. After eating and visiting, we went shopping in the boutique. This is not our first visit here; won't be the last; we will be back again and again. This is a really nice, comfortable place nestled in a neighborhood. Definitely a 5-Star experience. read more

Had dinner there as a recommendation of a friend. Nice setting, a real chick place for lunch. Order 2 appetizers, sprimp cocktail, good value at $11.00. The escargo was so, so. Ordered the Chefs pork tenderloin with his special plum sauce. Out of the plum sauce. This is 6:00 Friday night. What do you do for Saturday? Ordered the roaster filet. What a mess. The poorest excuse for a filet I've ever had. I don't know what cut of meat they use, but it was awful. It seems like it was percooked earlier in the day and warmed up for dinner. No flavor and did not look like a filet you would expect. What cut of meat did they use, poor. No taste and not hot. What a mess. 6:00 on a Friday and they are out of half of the desserts. We have been there a couple of times and all I can say is, "Ask for Doris," if you want a great, fun, friendly, entertaining and educational meal! Doris is the server that every restaurant should strive to have working for them (Doris gets 5 Stars!). On top of that, the food is real good (worth the cost) and the drinks are outstanding (I highly recommend the chocolate, pumpkin spice martini...it's to die for...as recommended to me by Doris :-). So why the 4 Stars? The owner sometimes gets a little snippy on the phone...overwhelmed? I don't know, but it happened both times we called, so I would delegate the phone/reservation job to someone else and it would be an easy 5 Stars from me next time! read more

Horrible experience. I was one member of a group of 6. The waitress was extremely slow with the drinks and entrees. She never offered any of us a second cocktail. There were two fruit flies in one of our cocktails. It took her forever to bring a new one. Then, she charged the member of our group for the cocktail. When dinner was over, she never offered us coffee or dessert. Then, it took forever to get our checks. When it was time to cash out, the manager of the restaurant kicked out two members of the group and told them not to return, because they didn't leave a tip for bad service. read more

I don't know where to begin. It took over an hour to get our food and the owner blamed the person in our party who made the reservation because she didn't let him know we were on our lunch break. Lunch break or not, it should never take over an hour to get food. We had to have our food packed to go (after there for 1 1/2 hours), as we had to get back to work and it certainly was not good enough to wait that long for either. It was acceptable, but not worthy of over an hour wait no matter what. I think the worst part is that the owner was not apologetic in the slightest. The place was not as busy as he claimed (that is why he said it was taking so long - he should plan and have enough staff) as we were in the same building and saw who was there. I have to say, I'm just so disappointed in customer service these days. Owners act like they are doing you some type of honor by having their establishment open for the public to attend. Used to be that they cared if clientele had a good experience. Not like that these days. read more

Beware Thursday Holiday diners! Even tho the website says 1/2 off beer, liquor, glasses of wine & bottles" during lunch and dinner, the owner does not honor it. I was there 12/20/18 and we ordered a bottle of wine. The owner came to our table and said he removes that special on the website in November/December. While I was looking this up on my phone, I also told him about a group of 9 women that dined there 11/29/18 and they received the discount. He vehemently denied that. I showed him the website and yet the SOB would not honor it. While the cost did not break my wallet, apparently it would break his. The owner should be ashamed of himself for lying to me not once but twice and his false advertisement. Even tho I rated this a 4 star, his poor customer service forced me to write this. Very disappointed in the dinner that was ordered - dinner rolls were stale - was offered a blue cheese dressing and salad came witch a cup of blue cheese and was told that was the dressing. Ordered the Chicken Marsala which was served with a congealed Marsala over the chicken. Vegetable was a typical cauliflower, carrot, broccoli blend for the price it was very poorly done. I took my mother here for a special lunch. Called when they opened to see if we could sit where we wanted. I was told no problem. Upon arriving we were (a two person table) told that their was a party in and there was only one spot for us, even though there were open tables. We were seated at a bar side table. The first thing I tried to order, a cappuccino, was not available because the machine wasn't operating. A few things on the menu were unavailable making the lunch selection even more limited. Almost all the salads have egg based dressings which we cannot eat. The worst was probably when we both realized that in between the wall and our table was a folded down safari van bench seat just there, like it was part of the décor. While dining we were within a ear shot of the waiters conversation complaint about a customer leaving something on the floor and stepping it into the carpet. Mom was not impressed. The only reason I give it one star is because I have to select a rating. Otherwise, it would be no stars for Ardmore Cafe. When we first enter the Ardmore Cafe, it is very pretty and Quant, but that is the only nice thing I can say about my experience there. First off the owner Larry chastised us for not having our fourth person with us, who was unable to make lunch with us. We were seated in the porch which the heat must have been turned off for it was very cold and the ceiling fan was on, on top of it. There was 3 of us so we decided to order 3 things and split. We started with the chicken vegetable soup and Maurice salad. The soup came out cold and our waitress said warm rolls are coming. We mentioned the cold soup and she said " oh, I'll tell the chef." Really how does that warm up my soup? Finally the rolls come with no bread plates, so we had to eat them off the tablecloth, that's classy. The waitress finally brings the plates and we mention the cold soup again and she says" I'll tell Larry." Well, again, how does that help my already gone cold soup? The waitress was more interested in the large party behind us that was already done with their meal instead of us, who was waiting for our meal. She came around to let us know our food would be out shortly to which we asked is our salad coming first? We ordered that firsts to get it out before the hot food. She rushes and grabs the salad. We mention the cold soup again and lack of plates and the waitress says she will have the owner Larry come and talk to us. Here is were it gets good. Larry comes over and in all my life I have never had a restaurant, store or salon owner talk to a customer so rudely and disrespectfully in all my life. He comes up and says,"what's the problem?" We tell him about the soup and he says " you already said something, we offered to heat it up for you, you refused. " Not one of us was offered for our soup to be heated or replace. We joke that we are not paying for the meal he becomes belligerent and says "then you can get out, stop eating and get out!" We say we were joking, one of our party knows the waitress for 30 years. He says "stop eating and get out, I'm not going to take your attitude, leave now. You haven't seen that waitress in 30 years." He finally leaves after we tell him we are not leaving until we get our meal. I can not comprehend how this man has stayed in business,as long as he has with this horrible attitude he has towards his customers. Larry needs to go for some customer service training. read more
