This place is exquisite. The ambiance is warm and comfortable, I love the rotating shops to peruse in during a lunchtime visit. The menu is simple with a lovely alcohol list and service is always pleasant. The decor is unbelievable during Christmas, you have to mske reservations far in advance. The Ardmore is quite charming. The rooms right now are decorated for Christmas. I went there for lunch today with a group. We had a very nice server but he couldn't keep our orders straight at all. Multiple times he gave food orders to the wrong person. Thank goodness the bills were correct. The food was ok. I had a Maurice salad which was skimpy. No eggs, probably one green olive cut on it, a couple of sweet pickles. There was ham and turkey on the salad though. I didn't think it was worth the price charged. They also ran out of rolls. Been going to The Ardmore for 10+ years. Last evening was the first visit after it had been sold. I'm very very sorry to say how disappointing and sub par it was. I was trying to give a great experience to 2 co-workers, one from Canada, for a holiday treat. First, the decorations for Christmas--where are they all? Used to take your breath away in the past, adding to the old fashioned ambiance of Christmas. Secondly, the small shops, and gift shop--gone--open doors to those areas, lights out, very sad. Thirdly, I made a reservation to be seated in the lounge. Oops--the waiter had seated others there, and did apologize, and we were in a room all by ourselves. The waiter---unsure what the issue was---no appropriate server etiquette, mistakes, very very long wait to be acknowledged, things forgotten, and he kept bending over to tie his shoelaces. Hand hygiene please! That was not apparent. To be transparent, we were told there was a group of 20 in the back room, and another group of 12 expected. OK. but ONE waiter? The chef/owner EMILY (very kind) was cooking, waiting tables, serving, bringing out forgotten things, and being a bartender--it was a mess-- Food--OK--not what was expected from the Ardmore. We'll leave it at that. Dinner took 3.25 hours, with a lot of that just sitting and waiting. Drinks were also sub par. There was no music (piano) as anticipated either. Shall I chalk it up to a bad night? I think if you know there are larger parties, one should have the appropriate number of waitstaff, and not overbook casual diners that won't be taken care of. I spent half the night apologizing to my friends as I chose the Ardmore. We all took home 2/3 of the entrees we had, and I tossed mine. For the expense, and the expectation, and the food quality, it was so very disappointing. Not sure I'll give it another try. I recommend investing in a few good servers, a hostess who knows the ins and outs of parties and reservations, attention to detail, (to include the tattered and torn American flag out front, which my Canadian friend commented on,) and allowing the chef to do her job--- read more

I made reservations on 05/13/26, for my friends birthday the following day. Day of the reservation, an additional friend wanted to join. Called around 4pm to see if the additional person would be an issue. Had to leave a voice message. Our reservation was for 6p, 05/14/2026. We entered and there was no one greeting, so we wondered around a bit. Finally, a young woman approached and asked if she could be of help. Told her we had 6pm reservation. She looked bewildered and sat us. Shortly after, another young woman came to the table and stated that she was trying to email me that they had a party of 14 and other tables and they were understaffed and could not serve us at 6pm. Could we maybe come back after 7pm? When I made the reservation thru the website, they had my name, number and email. I asked why she didn't call, said she didn't have my number, but was able to possibly email me? But, email me at the time of my reservation? I told I left a message, said she didn't have access to managers office, and there was no manager available. There was no possible adjustment, maybe seat us in the lounge with wine? Had Left standing at the door for 5 minutes while staff walked past us repeatedly and ignored us. A third server approached and offered to seat us. Sat us in the piano lounge at a table that was so unstable we would have been wearing our dinners. She immediately moved us to an adjoining table. Mentioned that there was a large group in another room, but we should be in a quieter spot. Left to get our server. Small kids from the large group immediately started running through our room (not the server's fault). Minutes later, our server came up and announced that she was new. Wanted our drink orders; I ordered a glass of malbec. She asked if that was a red or white. Scrolled for over a minute, then told me she had entered a bottle, not a glass. Worked for over 2 minutes to try to take the bottle off the order. We looked at each other, said we were done, and left. Server looked at us and just said, "oh" and walked away. Pitiful. read more

Very disappointing for a local business unfortunately. Extremely overpriced. I ordered a $15 drink which was most likely spilled on the way to the table since it was half full. The salad was less than a handful of Romain lettuce on a plate, topped with stale croutons. I ordered the caprese chicken ($28) which was a small chicken breast with bread crumbs and a slice of processed cheese, missing the tomatoes because they were "out". The server took our plates prior to being finished, which is fine because it was terrible anyway but he didn't even ask if we were done. A 12 yr old could've made a better dinner. read more

Met friends for a holiday lunch yesterday. While I like a long lunch with friends and good food, this was not the experience we had. Service was very slow. The soup was cold so we sent it back and it was a little warmer the second time but not hot and not that good. The pasta was warm, the broccoli was under cooked in the pasta. The salmon was good but very salty. All in all, it was not the great dining experience I remembered from a few years ago. Everyone was very nice but seemed harried. We went here for dinner, and the food was phenomenal. I had the Apricot Dijon Chicken with a Caesar Salad. I'm always reluctant to order Caesar Salad for fear of the taste of anchovies, but this was perfect; the croutons were in a crumb texture, which was very nice as opposed to chomping on large croutons. The Apricot Dijon Chicken was Amazing! The sweetness of the Apricot with the tang of the Dijon was a wonderful combination. We celebrated my husband's birthday at the Ardmore tonight. We had the pleasure of being seated by the talented pianist. The strawberry goat cheese crostini was amazing! I enjoyed my steak a great deal too. I didn't get a picture of dessert, but when the chef came to check on us, she said the brioche was picked up fresh at Eastern Market from Cannelle (always exceptional!) So if you are lucky enough to come on a night when she makes the chocolate berry brioche bread pudding, order it! read more

We had a wonderful experience hosting a birthday party on a Saturday evening with about 15 guests. Chef Emily worked with me ahead of time to select a menu that would work for our guests with various dietary restrictions. The service at the party was friendly and attentive, and everyone agreed that the food, all made from scratch, was delicious. The salmon and the baskets of warm bread were particular favorites! We had a perfect-sized private room for our party, and we really enjoyed the vibe of the building and decor - elegant with lots of charming little details. Please be aware there are new owners. Very nice and quaint Victorian decor. They have an extensive menu with many of the same choices. However, they aren't necessarily using the same recipes. I have eaten at this restaurant at least a dozen times in the past couple of years. I always order their Maurice salad. It WAS so good. Once I started to eat my salad, I noticed it wasn't the same salad. They changed the dressing. I commented that my salad tasted different than when I had it previously and they told me they changed the dressing. The portion size was smaller than before also. We were a group of six ladies. Service was very slow. The server was not well versed on their menu and in my opinion, didn't deserve the automatic 20% added to our bill. read more

Came with a friend, I had chicken marsala, which tasted bland, sauce was okay, but needed more flavor, chicken seemed to have been boiled, suvi style(sp) he had salmon, the thinnest piece of salmon ever seen. Both came with a nice dinner salad, veggies assortment, bland, and either baked potatoes or rice. We chose the potato, but again very uninspired, lacking flavor. We've driven by this charming 1870's house on Little Mack several times and finally decided to have dinner there. Pleasantly surprised. Lovely relaxing ambiance (the house is even more time-travel beautiful inside), outstanding service, friendly people including Don at the piano playing the Great American Songbook. Full menu and very reasonable prices considering the quality of the dining experience and food. Wife had the pork roast, I had the stuffed whitefish with Cajun seasoning (bam!). Both dishes were prepared with obvious care and very flavorful. Had the pleasure of meeting new (since last November) Chef/Co-owner, Emily, who enthusiastically talked about her plans and where she wants to take the restaurant. Fun, historic building. At Christmas time they surely must have more decorations per square foot than bronners in frankenmuth.quite a few individual dining areas, maybe seating up to eight people. Menu was fully explained, then some very good homemade rolls appeared. Salad with excellent honey mustard dressing was my choice. Shared lamb chop dinner along with duck entree. 5 chops- good sized and cooked perfectly. Duck was mouth watering, as were all the sides- rice, vegetables and potatoes.also had a bottle of reasonably priced New Zealand wine. We finally made it here and happy to have done so. Set up in a century old home that has been brought back to its original form. We walked in and were promptly greeted by Ray, one of the owners. We were early, even though our table was ready we chose to visit the small novelty shops, and listen to a gentleman playing the piano, very nice touches. We soon sat down and enjoyed a glass of wine each and ordered dinner. Unfortunately we skipped the appetizers, only because we weren't that hungry. My wife ordered the chicken florentine and I had the pork medallions. We both ordered salad with their Rasberry vinaigrette dressing. The dressing we're deliscious and when our dinners came they were just as equal. Our waiters were attentive yet not obtrusive. They let us enjoy our dinner and were well trained. Pricing was the big surprise, they did not gouge and gave a very good value for the price that anyone could afford. I truly believe we will be back and bring some friends. I want to support local business and want the business is better, so I always give honest review; hopefully they can see my review and do some change. We came in for lunch at lunch time, nobody was there but us. We found strange but the whole time we were there, there wasn't other customers. The restaurant was significantly slow. For the food, we ordered Chicken Oscar, Seafood Alfredo and Baked White fish. The presentation was like old style banquet food. The taste wasn't fresh. For Chicken Oscar and Baked white fish, they come with vegetables and oven baked potato. The potatoes was salty, vegetables was mushy and bland. Chicken was dried and got hidden under hollandaise sauce. White fish was under seasoned. There wasn't a connection of the protein and side dishes. For the decoration and atmosphere, I will give 4.5 stars. The place is beautiful and clean. It was a waste that a beautiful place with a disqualified food. People like to look, but when they come to restaurant, the food is still the main thing to have returned customers. If you haven't been here, I still recommend you to come for an unique experience because they have really decoration. read more

We've drive by the Ardmore hundreds of times without stopping; what a big mistake! As first-timers for a Friday afternoon lunch break, we found the Ardmore to be almost awe-inspiring. The other reviews cover the atmosphere and decor accurately, so I won't repeat those descriptions. Our lunches were near perfect, a Maurice salad and a special, chicken Florentine. My chicken dish was a bit over-the-top with garlic, but I joined the clean-plate club, regardless. The house-made raspberry vinaigrette was the best we've ever had. The rolls need an upgrade: nicely warmed, but boring. Crusty rolls from Breadsmith, for example, would have been worth paying extra for. Our waiter Tommy was gracious and perfectly attentive without being intrusive. We are already looking forward to returning with friends in tow. read more
