Pumpkin Coffee for the cool weather

Big flavor in small town cafe, great selections and great roasts. I recommend trying it once, you'll come back for more!! If I lived here, this would be my every Saturday morning date with my wife. Very warm and cozy! Give it a try!

Food: Hands down, this is the best café food I've ever eaten. I come here maybe once every couple of months when I'm visiting family, and I always order the Philly Cheesesteak sandwich. The meat is flavorful and the bread is perfectly buttery and toasted. Today, my dad got the BLT sandwich which was portioned well and toasty. I also tried the Baked Potato soup which was heavy, but good. The raspberry bread pudding is my favorite dessert and is a must try if you're here! In addition to sandwiches and wraps, they also have desserts and coffee! Venue: A small café off Highway 57 in Wanamingo, MN. It seats around 20 people and has a mix of tables and chairs as well as some comfy coffee shop type chairs.

Back for more! This place is a great! I always stop when I am in town.

Been here all week. Can't stop returning for breakfast. They have the best food and pastries.

Mint Choc Chip, Monster & Snickerdoodle Cookies

Sweet stop on an errand drive in Minnesota. Cafe was busy with lunch guests and local convos. The staff was friendly & welcoming. We tried 3 different cookies - monster, snickerdoodle & mint chip. They were tasty. Also tried some lattes to pair with the sweets. Will definitely stop in again when in the area.

I was on a wild goose chase trying to find a gas station on my way out of Minneapolis when I rolled into a small town and found this gem. It's the middle of the afternoon but by the looks of this place you just KNOW it's going to be stellar. The inside is very laid back/cozy and I could've hung out in there all day, if I was into that sort of thing lol. The iced coffee was a generous size, only $2.50, and great coffee of course - perfect for that summer drive! The store is run by pleasant and welcoming folk as you often see in a town like this. They also had a bunch of pies available for sale by the slice but, you know, #summerShred. If you're on highway 52 between Minneapolis and Rochester, this place is definitely worth the detour

Okay, so whenever I come across a gem of a place, I have to write about it. There is not a lot to eat around here, basically a Subway in Zumbrota, but what the area lacks, Area 57 makes up for! I have eaten here nearly every day for the last 2 weeks and I can't get enough. They always have a great "special" for lunch and the soup, oh, the soup...(I found myself suffering Seinfeld-like flashbacks from the "soup-nazi" episode). Their beer cheese, loaded baked potato, and roasted garlic tomato are fantastic. The sandwiches and paninis are great and the strawberry pie is delish! This is the topper, one day I ordered a full sandwich with the special, but they forgot to include it in my "to-go" bag, so they delivered the remainder to the office I was at just so I would have it. Ryan (owner) and his staff are always friendly and courteous.

Enjoying a delicious coffee drink!

Area 57 Coffee Cafe, 125 Main St, Wanamingo, MN 55983 PHONE: (507) 824-2969 Saturday in Wanamingo, MN We hurry from our cars, jumping a downhill stream of water rushing along the curb; then huddle near the entrance of the small town cafe, listening to the big splattery drops of rain as they bounce and roll off the Area 57 Coffee Café's dark green awning. It's Saturday morning, and the farmers living in and around the town of Wanamingo have gathered for lunch. We are three girlfriends from Minneapolis visiting our countrified friend, Sue, WHO IS OFFICIALLY A FARMER. Two elderly gentlemen graciously hold the café door open, eyeing us with some interest. Entering the café we are seated at a sturdy retro-styled Formica table from the '50's. The chairs are comfy, wooden, and homemade, each its own stylized creation. The café is meticulously clean and brightly decorated in non-matchy furniture. A half dozen over-stuffed chairs are gathered in a semi-circle around a compact fireplace, inviting a neighborly chat. We are now in our friend, Sue's neck of the woods and we question the menu. Sue provides some insight as the owner of the café (who is also the Mayor of Wanamingo) takes our orders with an unrushed, pleasant demeanor. In truth, I was hoping for a memorable country breakfast, but who am I kidding - you've got to wake up early to eat breakfast with the farmers. I order a chicken salad croissant and am surprised to get the extra crispy potato chips and sliced sweet pickles on the side. I haven't had a potato chip in years, but will experiment with a nibble. The other girls order farm-fresh sandwiches loaded with sliced ripe tomatoes and crispy lettuce. They rave about the flavor and a "straight from the garden" experience. One of our astute friends has decided on a tall glass of cold milk imagining that it's coming to our table pretty much straight from one the dairy cows we passed enroute to the café. The milk is a luminous white, but pretty soon, my friend is gazing longingly at the cappuccino I am most obviously enjoying and she upgrades to something with more of a "kick". We agree the cappuccinos are delicious. The rain is falling gently, as we drive away, toward a gravel road heading to Sue's farm. We tune in to the local music station and listen to Country Artist, Rodney Atkins sing, "Take a back road, Take the long road home, and get right with my soul," Yes, it was that good. "Amen" we respond in unison.

Honestly, I didn't think the place would live up to what I had seen ahead of time. The croissants…read morewere fantastic! I only stopped at the counter, checked out the offerings, and picked up a few things to go. The place was nice and charming but the seating didn't look too comfortable. Listen, it's not about the chairs. This is a gem of a cafe with excellent baked goodies and desserts. Indulge and enjoy!

Decided to give this place a try after being in the area. Quick review: Food was VERY tasty!…read moreService and ambiance... definitely lacking.... I walked in and saw you could either order on a large touch screen on with a person at the front. I don't mind touch screens, so I went to start my order. The problem is that there are no pictures... so you're not 100% sure what you are ordering. I stopped the order and walked over to the case to order with the employee instead. There was one woman in front of me and she got her items quickly. I ordered 5 items. (See pic below) All of them were fantastic! I really do judge a place by how well they can do a croissant, and this place does them very well!! The employees were very polite but for some reason my order took almost 15 mins to fill... I watched them pull the items from the case, so I'm not sure why it took them so long to do the order. There was only one other person who ordered after me and she had a drink and a box of pastries too... she received her items first. As for the space, it is bland and feels like an old Carribou coffee.... There really wasn't anything that felt "Paris or French" here. Very bland and not very cozy. If you plan on going(the food was very good) order it to go...

Harry Potter would not be disappointed here!…read more The Ettlin's Cafe was probably one of the cutest spots I've been in a while for its own unique reasons! This cafe is found in a quiet spot in the town of New Prague. The restaurant gives off small town vibes but their special drink flights are spectacular! Now, of course we chose to visit this place for their Harry Potter themed drinks and I am so glad we did. This cafe actually creates 4 themed drink flights! 3 unique coffee flights - Harry Potter, Star Wars, & Peanuts, and 1 boozy Harry Potter themed flight. The presentation of these flights were gorgeous! Each one comes out in a beautiful wooden deco box with different themed Harry Potter stickers on the sides; as well a fun character toy brought to your table - we had both the Sorting Hat and Dobby. The booze flight also arrives with one drink aflame! There is a drink designed per-house. Majority of theme were delicious. The one set on fire did have a bit of an off-putting taste to it due to the flammable component drizzled over top. Besides this, the drinks were very nice. Not a fan of any of the themed flights? Don't worry, they have a regular mimosa flight for muggles as well On to the food. I chose to order the #3 From the Hen (2 eggs, choice of meat, hash browns, and toast). The food was absolutely delicious and extremely filling. Let me put you on one really quick.... The sausage is out of this world, the best I have had in years! I had a moment to sing my praises to the owner and he clued me in that they actually get their breakfast sausage from a local butcher near by! This all makes sense. The sausage was HUGE great flavor, thick and juicy in texture. It reminded me of a true German sausage. I would come back for that breakfast alone! All love to small businesses supporting small businesses! Overall really enjoyed my time here! If you haven't been out to try Ettlin's I might suggest adding it to your list!

The food was good and the drinks here are top notch! It was a very long wait with a toddler though…read more Took about 45-50 minutes to get our breakfast. Just know if you decide to dine here it could have a bit of a wait since a smaller restaurant. Our favorite part were the drinks. So many fun themed options to pick from.
