This is a special one. I've toured many plant-based restaurants around CA and CO and I put a lot of weight into my declaration that Gladys is THE BEST. The best food ever, hands down!!! Am I allowed to say it changed my life? It's located in the Edgewater Public Market which is rad. I highly recommend dining in! The dining space is dimly lit and has a great atmosphere. It suits a formal occasion, but I tend to go more casually. And WOW, the cleanliness and organization in this space makes my brain happy. The staff are all wonderful. All vegan all good! Gladys is located inside a public food market warehouse. The place offers its own seating but one can also order out eat in the open seating offered in the warehouse. The food was very good. Their signature veggie Reuben was filling and normally i would have taken half to go but i could not stop eating . The fries were nice and crispy and i think they make their own ketchup... The beans & grains, as described by partner "was delicious"! We were tempted to dessert but were too stuffed to the gills. I was in town from Austin and my Denver friend said I HAD to get the root vegetable Reuben at Gladys'. It was as marvelous as she raved, absolutely unforgettable, pure plant-based perfection! I let my server choose my side and the fries with the drizzled sauce were delectable. A fantastic pickle accompanied the meal as well. I couldn't resist getting one of their vegan cookies for dessert-it was MAJORLY decadent and delicious. Y'all---treat yo self, get the cookie! All in all this was a major *chef's kiss* experience! A group of us from out of town came based on the suggestion of a local friend, and Gladys did not disappoint! I ordered the Po' Boi burger for myself and got the truffle sauce with my fries, and let me tell you, you MUST get the sauce if you like creamy, mushroom stuff! The Po' Boi was also delicious, and I got to sample a bit of the Kabocha Gnocchi, the Reuben, and the Sweet Beet salad, and they were all things I would order again! I honestly was surprised by how much I liked the Sweet Beet salad, as I am not typically a fan of grapefruit (which I believe was one of the citrus fruits included in the dish), but it's a great mix of sweet and earthy flavors. The location is inside of a food court type setup, so this also seems like a good place for a group with varied tastes, as if you have omnivores with a fear of vegetarian/vegan food with you, they could grab food elsewhere and I believe you could take your food and eat it out in the court area together. The decor is modern and reasonably trendy, and the restaurant was very clean (but we also arrived shortly after opening, so that's to be expected). I think it would make a decent date spot as well. This is located inside the Edgewater Market and is a fully vegan restaurant where you can choose to eat inside or take it as a takeaway option and eat outside or in the common area. Truly the best vegan Rueben on the planet... maybe even in the universe! The celery root is shaved perfectly, seasoned and flavored to perfection. The fires fresh and topped with the perfect amount of sauce. The gnocchi was absolutely comforting... massive serving size! First time reviewer of food here- I used to be vegan, but do not discriminate- good food is good food and this was the most thoughtful curated menu and precious gem of a restaurant I've been to in a long time. The staff was first of all- so patient, graceful, and kind. I told my friend that I feel like everyone who works here loves their life and has low / very healthy cortisol levels. They then proceeded to be so kind in helping me (so indecisive) order the perfect lunch. After this, the waiter told me that no one had ever told him how cool calm and collected the staff seemed there before- and then - they all sang happy birthday to a coworker chef and presented him with a beautiful tiered vegan chocolate cake. Precious!!!!!!' Everyone worked with a smile, crafting passion into each dish- it was literally beautiful I felt like I was watching a culinary movie. Also Reuben and Caesar were among the best I've ever had of both. Who knew a Caesar could be so elevated- each bite required me to close my eyes and appreciate. While perusing the public market, There's lots of good options, but this one is a must try! They have a rotating all plant-based menu with one staple and that's their Reuben sandwich. The flavors were there!! Love a good a Ruben and it's been a long time for me as I've been vegan for nine years, the sauerkraut, rye bread. you don't always come across to vegan Reuben sandwich. This is the one to try. The other gem we were lucky to try is their strawberry rhubarb vanilla cake! I wasn't sure what to expect but I'm so glad we got it. It was beautiful, decadent, sweet and tangy just like you'd expect from a strawberry rhubarb pie, but moist & creamy with the layer of vanilla cake & the vanilla sauce, pooling on the side. I came to the Edgewater public market for some BBQ mac and cheese from the place catty-corner to here but my vegan friend suggested this spot. The fries were great, the service was great. But yes, it is very special and if you did not know it was strictly a vegetarian restaurant, you might not know. A friend told me to try this place and while I had walked by it 100 times and passed (because it was, well all veggies, I'm sorry it took me so long to fine quality food. The celery root Reuben sandwich was spectacular. The seasonal cassoulet hearty and tasty. A large selection of non-alcoholic all organic cocktails available. ...and if you prefer wine/beer/ or mixed drink with your meal, Gladys clearly states you may bring in from the other vendors inside the market. Service was friendly, helpful and efficient. Inside the place is upscale, simple, comfortable with nice soft lighting. My friend and I were so thrilled that Gladys is now a sit down restaurant, complete with a lovely selection of mocktails and other delicious non-alcoholic drinks. They do allow you to bring alcoholic beverages from the nearby bar if you choose, but I was happy to enjoy a tasty kombucha with my po boy. The fried artichoke hearts combined with the garlic pickles was a delicious and filling combination. The fries were also fantastic and everything was beautifully presented. Ok but overrated. I like going plant based because I typically just order without thinking I need to add protein. These meals aren't all protein inclusive and adding $5 for tofu or beans at a vegan place is weird but that is how it is. Just include the protein in every meal please and adjust price as necessary. The food is salty at an unhealthy level. So salty. I had the dehydration headache even after a few waters which brings me to my last negative comment-why do you not serve water with dine in? Complimentary tap water is not offered. We had an assortment of dishes at our table. Overall, creative and appealing. Good textures and nutrients other than protein. I was eating a no meat day so I decided to try Gladys. I wanted something with lots of veggies that wasn't just French fries. Gladys is actually a delicious vegan place that even non vegans can enjoy. I ordered the Reuben and the potato fritters and they were actually pretty delicious. It comes with lots of food so it's big enough to share between two or three. I like that they have a very small menu so you are not overwhelmed with choices. Service is very friendly. This is an amazing vegan/plant-based place recommended by the owner of the Greek restaurant right across from it (I first went there to order their veggie plate. The owner then asked me if I was a vegetarian or vegan. Whereas I tend to order a lot of vegetarian/vegan dishes when I'm out, I do eat meat from time to time so answer to his question it was "No, I am not" but since he insisted that I go check out the vegan/plant-based place, not his restaurant (lol!!) I went here. And I didn't regret a bit!!) However they came up with the recipe of this dish is beyond phenomenal. The main base is the cashew milk as it is creamy. And there is this hint of sourness which I didn't know where it was coming from. But as soon as I read the ingredients I had this "Aha" moment: It's the shallot. Let's not forget about the customer service. The guy who took my order was very pleasant and welcoming. I asked him about the most popular items on the menu and he said the one I had in mind (Tofu) was definitely one of them. He also said that it's very hearty as well. To pick this dish as my very first dish at my very first visit at this restaurant was the right thing to do so I highly recommend that you get this at your first visit. Believe me, it is sooo good. If I go ahead and become frank about the tofu dish though, its portion is a bit small for the price. Also, wild rice (one of the ingredients) was barely there so my request is that the restaurant increases the amount of rice they put in this dish so that it'll be more noticeable. I really liked the succulent decoration on the wall to the right of the restaurant; it truly echoes the theme of the cuisine they offer. I simply cannot wait to go back and try other things on the menu. The next one might be the Reuben sandwich (and this is plant based as well, of course!!) The hubs and I love coming to the edgewater market. Tonight I decided to try a new spot for dinner. The fava bean croquettes looked delish and I was not wrong. The staff was all really friendly for starters. Then I got my dish and I could not have been happier. The croquettes were light and crispy. The salad was perfectly dressed and the tart lemon cut through the fried croquettes perfectly. I also got a salaried chocolate chip cookie for dessert which was rich and packed full of chocolate. Here is a story of a pescatarian craving her long love of pastrami. AP being a pescatarian had been craving a really good pastrami sandwich for years and would give her one chance of eating meat at Katz Deli in NYC. So one day at Edgewater we came across Gladys. AP was hesitant at the sandwich being made out of celery root which she despises. They gave her a free sample and it changed her mind foreverrrrrrrrrrrr. She immediately ordered their vegan pastrami and it has been her go to order. The texture is close to a typical cold cut and they do an amazing job incorporating flavors of a meaty pastrami really well. The bread is perfectly toasted and if you random person does a blind test between a real pastrami vs their offering, they might be thinking it's meat!
