Flavor explosion. Loved it! I got the shrimp arepita. I can't remember the exact name for it, but I won't forget the taste. Such a treat for the tastebuds. I enjoyed the shrimp arepita because it had a great balance of veggies with a bit of meat. Just right. One of my favorites in Harker Heights/Killeen area. I have never had Venezuelan food and after my first visit I wanted to visit Venezuela! The dishes are made with good fresh ingredients from avocado to fresh slaw. We came about Arepitas because my son wanted to try arepas (from Encanto movie) and we found this gem. The food looks so good and tastes even better. I'm very picky when it comes to eating out because I have some amazing cooks in the family and have not found many good places to eat in this area since moving here a year ago. However; a few weeks ago I didn't feel like making dinner and decided to try Arepitas since I saw the great reviews. We ordered takeout and Wow! It did NOT disappoint, but actually surpassed my expectations. We raced home and sat down to eat. Usually there is a lot of talking going on in our home, but for once everyone was silent and devouring the food. It was fresh and SO delicious! Eating out can often make you feel sluggish afterwards due to the cheap ingredients and oils used, however; I did not feel like that after eating their food. Hands down, probably some of the most flavorful food I've had in a long time. I ordered the Pabellón Arepa and it was fantastic. To drink, I ordered a passion fruit drink and it too was very flavorful. Not too sweet or too tart. I can't say it enough, but their food was fantastic and the staff were very friendly. I use to love this place and recommended it to a lot of people but after my recent visit I probably wouldn't suggest it . The food looked as though it was everyone's left overs thrown in the container the yuca was old honestly disgusting I just can't believe something So Good could turn that bad The tostones were not even edible . Tonight was our first time trying Arepitas or any Venezuelan food. We got a little bit of everything to try and shared amongst our family of 6. There wasn't anything that we didn't love. The tostones were piled high with goodies and so delicious. We loved the empanadas, esp the shredded beef. The The Llanera was overloaded and so tasty. The Caribena was spicy goodness! Open for dining with social distancing. Tried this after reading the reviews. Excellent choice. The Wife and I started with Tostones for appetizer. Good, sauces were excellent, plantains were rather tasteless but the cabbage and sauces backed them up well. Ordered the small 3 piece and we could only finish two of them. Mains were a Parralitta Bowl and DW had a empanada. She loved the empanada and my taste was very good. The parralitta bowl was with rice and both of loved this! We fought for the last few bites. Beef and chicken, small pieces, cooked perfect with vegetables and their wonderful garlic sauce with cilantro sauce also. Simply amazing, best dish we had. Finally, ordered a side of Yucca since we have never tried it. Deep fried like french fries. They were crispy, great texture and a nice taste. Dipped in the accompanying garlic sauce and these took off. This place is worth a try for the food alone but the service was the real star. Our Waiter was clearly the best server we've ever had. He explained everything on the menu, checked on us regularly and smiled the entire time. Extra tip for him and even though we were travelling through, we will be back. read more
