I don't do my nails often, but when I do Arete is the place to go. Folks there are nice and really devote the time in ensuring their work is meticulous and perfected to your liking. I always get their gel Manis as they really do last 3weeks plus without chips or dents! Call and book in advance if you want your nails done for specific events. You'll have to send them pic of the nail design ahead of time so that they know how much time to allocate for you and can quote you a price. Base price of gel is separate (nail designs vary per finger/design and how complicated it is). They also request deposit for your appointment which I can totally understand (nothing is worse than setting up time for a client that cancels last minute or doesn't show). I've had my nails done by a few of their technicians and each time I had a great experience. Would def recommend!

Really loved my experience here! I was able to get an appointment day of and my nail tech was super friendly. I'm personally afraid of the drill because I got burned a few times from careless nail techs and I mentioned it and my nail tech was really nice about it and assured me I'll be okay. I did a really simple design and ideally want to do longer nails with accessories in the future so I'll definitely come back. I recently moved to the neighborhood so this will for sure be my go to nail salon now. The overall space is extremely cute and pretty too.

Arete is my go to nail art salon! Whenever there is a special event or vacation coming up, I would always book an appointment in advanced! I am a big fan of boss lady's work. I am so lucky to get her most of the time. She is so patient, has creative suggestions, and sharp eyes for colors. She also provides great service and super friendly. Love her! Be prepared to spend a few hours depending on your design - the more sophisticated, the longer it takes but totally worth it! This place does extensions extremely well and they shape it very carefully, if you're into that. I typically like short nails so I go for cute, simpler nail designs that I find on Pinterest. I am extremely satisfied with the results! Arete is not easily accessible which is a little bummer since it is by appointment only so definitely call or text ahead of time with your ideal design ready. A deposit is required through Chase Quickpay or Venmo to hold your spot. This place is located on the second floor of a side street on 37th Avenue with just a small colorful sign of 'Arete' on a glass door, pay attention and ring the doorbell to get buzzed in. Outside may seem a bit dingy but the inside is cute and well decorated!

Extraordinarily meticulous. Went in for a gel removal + single color gel mani and it took TWO HOURS. Every coat was applied with incredible precision and care. Great color selection, clean stations, competitive pricing, and friendly staff. Will definitely be back!

I would recommend if you have a lot of extra time but I wouldn't recommend if you just want to get a quick service. I've only gotten my pedicure done here for the first time with the male technician but just a pedicure took 1 hour 45 minutes.. the water got so cold I was freezing cold and this is during late spring. Also he cut a lot of cuticle off my big toe that when he had to wipe with alcohol it burned. He was very meticulous though. There was no massage during scrub or lotion. He just put lotion on and it was streaky. The place is really cute and aesthetic though! They use pedi liners and seems sanitary enough. Not a lot of regular colors though in my opinion. They also do lashes here. Prices are reasonable. Would come back to try a mani but not it for a pedicure.

I don't pamper myself often at all, however, on the rare occasion like my birthday I'll come here. For quality and price I think they do consistently a good job. I haven't done gel but the regular manicures and pedicure have been good. Today (Oct 11, 2022) I did a morning appointment and it was the first time I got a gentlemen for pedicure. I have to say I was impressed by his delicate tact and meticulousness. He didn't quite go all in on the massage like the previous women did but going to massage spas are the places to go for those sort of things anyhow. I would like to commend his good work in my opinion. Some people go rough on the cleaning out dead skin and pull on live skin and he didn't do this which I appreciated a lot. I hope I get him again in the future.

Still coming here after 4 years and absolutely love it. The attention to detail from this couple is unmatched. Grace is my girl! I sat next to this lady today who made a big fuss about not being able to get matte top coat on her TOES . I nearly died. It's the middle of Fall, who's seeing your toes girl? It was an honest misunderstanding because they thought she would only want it for her hands (I would think the same!) Honestly if you have something bad to say, just stop coming bc I'll be able to make appointments more easily for my friends and I!

Walk ins are accepted but they're typically so booked up you may end up waiting a bit but always call and check if they can squeeze you in. They accept cash, Venmo and QuickPay payment methods only. Have been there couple times now and each time I have observed each of them with skilled technique and meticulously shaping and designing. Each one of my gel manis have easily lasted up three weeks without chipping. However this depends on individual nail growth speed. For me they grow quite fast so usually by two weeks it's grown out enough for me to want to have them redone. **TIP1: if you're planning on doing ANYTHING with design, message them in advance! This will help save time as they really book appts back to back and don't allot that much extra time to spend discussing color and design. With that being said; TIP2: Do not book a late appointment with intentions of doing design. They are detail oriented but also want to go home. Did this once for one finger and I felt rushed. None the less, good results but was uncomfortable. TIP3: they are a small operation. They do not have a receptionist. Aforementioned they're almost always booked up so all five techs are working on a customer, picking up the phones, taking appointments, and multitasking. First time there I was a bit confused when she stopped every so often to pick up the phone, buzz in the next customer, or check her phone. But everything she stopped to do was work. (They take appointments via WeChat so you will see them constantly on their cell phones). The techs are all unique with different skill sets so you can't go wrong with any of them.

I try most of the nail salons here downtown flushing , so far i think it's the best 1. As soon u walk in this place it's super clean and modern, the whole place make u feel very warm and comfortable. Had the nail for more than a week now, still stay nice and shiny, lots of compliments. Love love love =D read more

The guy who did my nails was super rude and not friendly at all. Did not even say hello. Instead of asking me to move my hand forward he would just keep aggressively tugging my fingers or pushing them away. He did not say one word to me the whole time. He did a terrible job shaping my nails and messed up my cuticles. He was taking forever to do my nails and my meter was about to expire so I asked him if they give parking tickets frequently around this area and he said no, I got back to my car with big fat ticket on my windshield. If you don't know then say you don't know! Overall not a great nail salon experience. read more

Obsessed with this place!!! I'm a Queens native, but have recently relocated to south Florida. I am back for an engagement and my sister and I needed our nails done. I flagged this place due to the awesome reviews. Wendy is such a sweetheart and so skilled!!! She was so meticulous in ensuring that my nails were filed identically. My nails are so perfect. This was THE BEST MANICURE I have ever received. I also received a pedicure and she was so sweet in helping me pick out the perfect colors to go with my attire for the engagement. Overall great vibe at this nail salon!!! The folks who work there are sweet, funny, and warm. My sister and I had a great time there while getting our nails done. The prices are so great for the service. They are worth so much more!!!! read more

It's so hard finding good nail salons around me with immaculate service, but thank god i was able to find this place! I got a gel manicure a couple times here and they last for so long w no ch! (3+ weeks) the place is also really aesthetic and I like how it's small and not too crowded. The only thing is they make you give a deposit when you're making your appointment which is fine as is encourages people to actually go to their appointments and not flake out. I've been with the nail artist for almost two year now, she is the only artist that knows which shape fits my funky fingers and nails, they also try not to harm my nails from filing. They have really good quality nail gadgets and products all from Japan and Taiwan. It's worth the time every time to do design gel nails here! read more

I came here looking for another place to get Japanese paragel. Based on the reviews, I came here after calling to confirm my appt and originally being quoted $60. When i came to the salon, turns out they don't understand English and now the price is $75... the owner (??) gave me a very convincing story about how his gel is better then others, then the service begins. Normally I get a gel removal and then a new gel manicure, not here. I kept the original gel (they didn't remove it all) and the entire service took 2 hours (how? They didn't even remove it). The technician spent part of the service calling about her garage problems (really?). Then to top it off, there is no COVID protection here, no screens, the technician didn't wash her hands before she started. 2 customers came in with no mask, so no problem apparently. Then when a third customer came in and sat down RIGHT NEXT TO ME, they proceeded to start that customers service before I had to say something and then the new customer was moved. (Unbelievable, were in the middle of a quarantine and anyone who has the audacity to go into any business without a mask should be fined). At the end, 2 hours later and a simple one color gel nail cost me $85. The place I normally go to would charge me the same price. Overpriced, average service and not COVID safe... this is my emergency I need a mani spot, definitely no more then that. read more

It was my first time at this nail salon and I do not plan to ever come back. I had sent the boss a deposit for an 11AM appointment. When my friend and I arrived, the place was not even opened yet. We waited for a few minutes until two employees came, one of which was the nail tech. Unfortunately, the boss was unable to make it so my friend and I had to be seen back to back rather than simultaneously by the one assistant. Immediately, she was coughing and looked unwell. I later had my friend translate and found out that the one nail tech's son was sick as well. She was frequently profusely coughing, making phone calls and distracted during the entire time. She even yelled at the employee working on pedicures making the environment very uncomfortable. Between my friend and I, she spent a total of 2.5 hours.... I asked for a simple gel color but they were out of stock of the shade so I had to pay $10 extra for a japanese gel of a similar shade. The tech filed very poorly, cut my skin to the point I bled and painted unevenly. For my friend, she missed an entire section of her fingernail, was blotchy and used stickers rather than drawing the design! When checking out, she was also unaware that we had already placed a deposit and we had to go through trouble of showing her proof with our bank statements and text messages with the boss. I felt extremely uncomfortable the entire time due to her coughing, her attitude and overall very poor job with both our nails. I am extremely disappointed since I heard great things about the boss, but would not recommend if you were paired with her assistant. read more

surprised how they have such many good reviews so I read all of them one by one and found that they are all 'old' good reviews. mkay. I used to go to this place since last Feb to get my nails done however I dont think I'm gonna come anymore. If you wanna experience unexpected unpleasant poor service, this is the right place for you. Also dont forget to read the replies that their staff member left on each of the 'bad reviews.' That is exactly how they treat you in the salon. I dont think they treat you as a customer, but a 'wallet.' They just do the least jobs they could and expecting the high cost, and also they are saying that the products they use are good and expensive ones compare to other salons by 'justificating' their rude attitude and high cost. read more

Grace and Eddie are the best two there to go to. I've been going for two months and like the jobs they've done. I do prefer grace if having to pick. The only setback was having a nail chipped after just a couple days. They are an appointment only salon and always require deposits for the next appointment. The only reason I did not give an additional star was because of the last time being overcharged : so please make sure to make it clear if you already put money down and how much. I would def be going back but now must be more attentive of the situation. You will not be disappointed coming to this salon :) read more

Warning: to achieve perfect nails takes time. My nails took 2 hours but i don't even care because they're AMAZING. I called earlier today to see if they would be able to take me and they did. Yay! Grace was the wonderful lady who did my nails. There was another lady and a gentleman there as well who seemed to be doing excellent jobs too. I needed a fill in and I had broken a nail. I had gone to a previous salon which did a crappy job which grace noticed right away and fixed the ugliness of my previous nails. I wanted a simple pink color and two silver nails. Grace did exactly what I asked and it came out better than what I expected. We didn't converse too much which was fine because i wanted to watch my Netflix show anyway and I spend all day talking to customers so it's nice to just get pampered and not have to struggle looking for a conversation. Prices are decent compared to other salons but I'm willing to pay for quality. $76 including tip. The previous nail salon charged me $70 before tip and did a horrendous job. Grace even asked why I didn't request for them to fix it and I bluntly told her I'm not going back to someone who messed up my nails because it might end up worse. Other points: i noticed a few of the reviews mention the gentleman who has a language barrier, he really does try and he did ask grace to translate during my time with her. He didn't start anything until she told him what the customer wanted so I'm not sure where others' frustration comes from. Also I speak Chinese however when it comes to nail terminology I prefer English. I'm not sure if they knew I spoke the language but they weren't rude in English or Chinese towards me or the the other Chinese customer or the Hispanic customer sitting next to me. Prior to coming in as a walk-in, I called them to see if they were able to take my friend and I for pedicures because we didn't want to walk 10 minutes only to find out they don't. Plus I wanted to give them a heads up in case they were fully booked for Labor Day Weekend. The staff was super nice on the phone and told us if we could be there at 3pm, then they could take us in. We made it there by 3pm and sat us down after we chose our colors. The experience here was super relaxing (I almost fell asleep while waiting for my nails to dry) and the staff were so nice. The salon is super clean and decorated very nicely, which is rare to find. My pedicurist did a great job with cleaning my feet and everything else. For a $20 pedicure, it honestly does not get better than this! I love that they accept Venmo payments (you can pay tip through there as well in case you don't have cash). If I am ever in Flushing, this will be my go-to for nails. I am very curious to try the fancy designs that they offer for manicures. I highly recommend this salon! read more

Pai was amazing. I hate getting my nails done because I hate the wait, and hate it even more when it a nail salon is loud and busy. This was the first time I've visited, as my husband was trying to find me a new salon in the area. I will definitely frequent. She fit me in her schedule, was attentive to every detail and shaped my nails perfectly. She even chose a color that complemented by complexion and a shape that worked well with my long slender fingers. She filed and filed and even used the tweezers to remove piece of dust that flew on the nail, and even though her next appointment was coming, it didn't make her move faster to throw me out. I appreciate her a ton. I've also been really stressed and the peaceful piano music and wonderful ambiance was a plus. Do I hate getting my nails done anymore? Certainly not! I like the place because their extreme well done service. They always take good care of my nails. Because my nails are all thin like the slice of paper. Their patience and skills make my nails can maintain nicely at least over 3 weeks without breaking or damaging. Ugh I really wanted to like this place but just no. Everyone was really nice and the place was very clean but my nails came out a hot mess. I wanted and ombré French I provided a picture and the color was fine but the shape of my nail and the thickness was really really bad. They look like press on super fake nails the polish was not clean and they're very lumpy. For the amount of time it took i thought they'd be great but I was very disappointed. I was taking a flight in a few hours and i didn't have the time to have them do all over again. I don't think I'll be coming back especially with it costing 85 dollars plus 20% tip. Just too much to not end up happy. =\ read more

Everyone here takes great pride and care with their work! The ladies (different people each time) here were meticulous with my hands and nails. I've been here a twice with my friend and we booked the appointments in advance for gel manicures. They were a bit rushed my second time but we were also a bit late to the appointment. That being said, my nails looked impeccable and lasted up to 3 weeks each time (until my nails grew out). Hats off to the staff here, quality work at a great value. Major tip: Make appointments, they get crazy busy, especially on weekends! I wish I lived closer so I could come here more often! read more

Are those colors the same price? 2. No extra charge? 3. No more money? And the English speaking one said NO and another lady who does not speak English does my manicure and uses cat eye, which ends up being $25 extra at the end I ask them why because I clarified 3x and they gossip in Chinese not knowing I understand it that it was me not willing to pay it so they waived it forcibly and rolled their eyes at me and didn't talk to me. I still tipped 25% and leave $40 gel manicure $10 hard gel extra charge The lady that actually does your nails and not translating the first time? Friendly and that's 1 star The second one named Mia: pretend friendly BUT manipulative "There is morning wrong with our hard gel, your nail is just hard. You should have paid for the $90 UV gel instead of the $50 hard gel" and does NOT pay attention to detail NOR take feedback well Skill 2/5 You can tell they are trained in batches because they all utilize the same technique and it's only good if they are good and it's really bad if it's bad My First Lady: the 2 stars are for her My Second Lady: Paying attention to detail is SO not her skill NOR is taking feedback My Second Lady glued the end extension crooked and refused to take it out so just kept on filing until the nail was too short and not even with others. All other nails are concave. The extension is convex and titled out to an angle way too the left. The top coat from Second Lady: uneven with big dips and bumps and I will NOT wanna go back a 3x to let her fix it. With gel manicures, the top coat is everything and they ruined it I still tipped Second Lady 25% because if you speak up, they scream at you, give you attitude, and the door is locked unless they unlock it remotely Vibe 0/5 They are hot and cold re customer service wise and the second half of the store is under remodeling with some loud thumping. The first half can be more tidy albeit no remodeling. Back hand washing station is overcrowded. Walkway to the bathroom pass the hand washing station is dark Pricing 0/5 If I was paying for quality service and skill, this would have been slightly above average pricing in Flushing but because you get bad service and no attention to detail, it's a 0 Three days later after my first visit, 2 of my nails broke albeit I had hard gel. So the extra $10 for THEIR hard gel won't make a difference versus regular At first they said repair was free 2x but they were going to just paint of over the broken nails with no extension or filing meaning you were gonna have 4 long almond and 1 short square/jagged nail on each hand. And the nail tech proceeded to do that until I told her to please take the gel off my broken infield nail and put an extension on it so all nails are even length and shape and she said $10 for each, so the repair was $20 and not free. That's okay, but to think they really were gonna let you leave the studio like that SMH Also the supposed top coat they give you on all your nails after you repair 2-bumpy and uneven--huge dips and throws all the money you used previously on all other fingers out the window. Gel depends 90% on top coat This is above average pricing in flushing with really sh*tty service and below average skill. Check out Arete Beauty instead! Cheaper (cat eye is an extra $10 not $25) and better skill set and service but make an appointment

I have found my favorite nail technician in Bend. Haley MacDowall has been trained by her mother, Cheri (the owner of Look Esthetics) - herself one of the best nail technicians in Bend. Cheri passed down her knowledge to Haley and Haley is now the BEST! I had a spa manicure and an ultimate spa pedicure and it was FABULOUS. I have very dry cuticles due to very frequent hand wash and after my manicure was done my nails and cuticles looked amazing and healthy again. The pedicure was fabulous also. Haley really took her time to do an outstanding job and my toe nails have never looked better, but my favorite part was the massage. Haley is not only extremely professional but she is extremely pleasant to talk to. My entire appointment took 2hrs and it was worth every penny! Queeny is an amazingly talented nail technician, and she finally got her own place! I've seen her for almost six years and have followed her from two distention salons. She always delivers what I want, and it's not easy to do. She did my wedding nails and nailed it (get it?) She's very friendly and funny. The salon is immaculate and looks very modern. I had a great experience getting my gel mani and regular pedi here. Ling was super meticulous with her work, focusing on the health of my nails. She also recommended polish colors that worked well for my skin color. An appointment is a must, as they only have three manicurists. And the day we were there, only one person was working. The nail salon is on the 2nd floor, but there weren't any signs. The stores on the ground floor remain boarded up due to a recent fire. read more

So i moved to flushing recently and has been looking for a permanent nail salon for my precious little piggy toes and fingers. I think i have found THE one. The owners are very professional and shows excellent teamwork. I was obviously a very bad customer since i came in at 7:30 and didnt finish until 9:30! But i never felt rushed or uncomfortable.
