When I scheduled a 60 minute medical massage treatment for myself, I wasn't too sure what exactly I was going to experience besides deep tissue (which I do love) to get the kinks out of my throbbing shoulders and lower back (thanks to lifting up my 34 lb toddler). Vera was eagerly waiting for me upon arrival, and she gave me the quick run down of insuring I had no medical history, injuries or the like. I got myself laying face down on the heated massage table (which was lovely on a rainy afternoon) and she quickly got to work. Vera: Okay, I will need to do some cupping. Me: Okay Vera: Okay, now I will do some re-alignment. Me: Okay Vera: Okay, we need to do some stretches Me: Okay Vera: We are going to do some lymphatic drainage. Me: Okay She could have told me she was going to tattoo the Last Supper on my back, and I probably would've said the same thing. She was so in tuned to what my body needed, that I just surrendered. The cupping, which was my very first experience, didn't hurt at all, which was what I was quietly panicking about, but I will say for the day after, and the day after that, my body really felt like it went through the ringer! It's really a whole body detoxifying process that I was very open minded to, would get it again, if I ever allow my back to get this messed up. Overall, I feel I can breathe better, and feel just a bit taller! I was absolutely stunned with the full mobility I had in my left shoulder that I had lost for some time, and my neck hump is much better than it was. I booked at Argana and when I arrived I wasn't sure if I had made a mistake because the front of the spa is not super appealing and walked inside and it looked like an average massage spa. The owner and therapist Viera convinced me to try the hammam and I am So glad they did .... Viera did an excellent job pampering me, she exfoliate a year of dead skin on my body and scrubbed with a home made scrub she makes with almonds, coconut, coffee, Aragan and other things I can't remember but it was great, she washed my hair and she did an extraordinary job doing the massage, with great intention and positive energy her kindness truly showed when doing her job ! Went and had the Luxury Hammam massage, it was fantastic. The masseuse was thorough as she covered every nook and cranny (and I do mean EVERY) during the exfoliating scrub. So, let me start with the fact that I've had a hammam experience in Casablanca and Marrakech, Morocco and fell in LOVE with the practice. I had NO idea that I'd find such a similar experience so close to home. Your skin will literally feel like a band new baby when you leave. Only thing I wish is that I'd scheduled earlier so they could accommodate me for the Luxury Hammam experience which would have also included an hour massage. I hadn't intended on posting a review but since my situation has happened for a THIRD time I felt a need to elaborate. The spa/aesthetician is pleasant enough however each and every time I ask her for the $85 facial and when she's done she tells me she gave me the $125 facial. I understand economic times but changing the price after the fact is both poor business and extremely irritating. I really wish I could give this place a full 5 stars, but they pulled the age old trick that another client referenced below. I booked a luxury hammam for $215, which includes a 60 min massage. Before the appointment, the owner calls me and asks which type of massage I'd like. I ask what are my options are, and she tells me deep tissue and traditional Swedish. I ask more about the differences between them and then go with the deep tissue. My arrival was pleasant and aside from having to ask for a different robe (mine didn't seem to thoroughly dry) I enjoyed the hammam and massage. My total when I finished was $245. I asked the owner to wait while I referenced the prices in my phone to ensure I didn't overlook anything, and this is when she tells me the deep tissue massage was extra. I asked her why she didn't tell me this service was extra when she asked me which type of massage I wanted, and she just apologized and said they paid the masseuses extra for these types of massages. I completely understand this and think they should! But I also think they should be honest and forthright about prices and not do this old price gouge trick that many spas seem to be into these days. I was definitely looking for a place to become a regular, but this experience had made me consider trying other places. To the owners, your spa is really nice experience. Your customers are already there to happily spend and receive treatment. Not being transparent about pricing really erodes trust and willingness to return or recommend the space to others. read more

Decided to call and verbally make an appointment a week in advance, and when I showed up I was told I never had an appointment, and never had someone call to confirm. So let me start of by saying I normally hate massages. The last one was about 9 years ago. I got a gift certificate for one and was apprehensive to go but I am happy I did. Vera is amazing. I was really sore from a workout class. At the end of the massage all the pain was gone. She uses a machine that my chiropractor has as well and I have never felt better she even ended the massage with a 10 minute reiki session. I will absolutely be back to see her. There were 3 of us visiting the spa together. We booked cupping therapy, reflexology, and hammam. Received a call 2 days before saying cupping is not available. So we book an additional reflexology instead. When we arrived they tried to sell us 2 massages in place of the reflexology. The women were trying very hard to be convincing and it seemed like a scam. Wow how did I not know about this place before. I called to make an appointment. Because they were super busy for a saturday they were not able to accomodate the Hammam and message package in that order. Unless i reversed them message forst than the hammam i needed in a short notice but the receptionist got creative amd changed the order of the services i was getting to fit me in. or choose another day. I took the reverse package and bot was i glad. I started with Vera for the message and she was amazing than went on to Hammam (A) she was beyond amazing and comforting. She was working with all her soul and the convo was very relatable. I will make this place a must go to at least once a quarter. Would love to say every few weeks but its pricy. I was a first timer at Argana Day Spa. At the recommendation of a Moroccan friend, I booked a luxury hammam, which comes with a hair treatment and one hour massage. Fatiha, who did my hammam, was very friendly and thorough and made sure I came out completely relaxed and clean. Vera did my massage and was incredibly astute in finding my trouble spots in my hips and back. She is very strong and has a broad array of techniques and tools to correct pain points and relax muscles from head to toe. 2 stars for cleanliness and politeness. We tried this place for spa week and based on the reviews from yelp - too bad I didn't read the one about not having an in-house masseuse! The room was cold, blankets (not heated) didn't help. The women were clumsy and knocking things over as they danced around the beds. The massage itself had good pressure but how do you tell a masseuse to slow down their movements? At first I thought she was preparing by loosening my muscles around my spine but then she removed the blanket and maintained the same thing over and over again. Basically the entire massage was of quick movements and quite rough. I would not recommend this place for a massage. read more

This review is long overdue. Hasna, one of the owners of Argana Day Spa, was one of the only aestheticians at The Green Spa that I trusted implicitly. She was friendly, discreet, and made me feel so comfortable during those "awkward" processes. I was thrilled when she gave me a call to let me know her Argana Day Spa was up and running. Both Hasna and Christina really try (and succeed!) with a soothing ambience - not easy to achieve on busy 13th Avenue in Dyker Heights. The spa itself is impeccably clean and the services are top notch. Reception makes you feel welcome, special, and brings you wine in the waiting lounge. All of the front desk ladies are lovely. The Moroccan Hammam -a very unique exfoliation service - was quite the experience. My skin shimmered afterward. I'd recommend this for people who love steam (I tend to get a little cranky), but it was the best exfoliation I had in years. As for the brazilian bikini wax, Hasna continues to make it as painless and pleasant as it could be. I could go no where else! Michelle is an awesome massage therapist - please try her after a particularly stressful week! The only minor drawback is the location: easy by bus, a little bit of a trek by train, but I feel as though I get some uphill walking under my belt.
