They work hard to create community by hosting board game nights and other events especially in the basement and by having no laptop tables in half the upstairs to encourage conversation. Fantastic cafe! We stopped in for a pastry and some coffee. We got an iced Lavender Latte, hot spiced oatmilk latte and a pecan sticky bun- everything was delicious! The staff were very friendly and helpful and the service was quick. The prices were standard for A2. Very cute interior with plenty of study spots, as well as areas to chat- both indoor and outdoor seating. They have some fresh food options too. I have driven past this place countless times since I was a kid and have always wanted to go there. The coffee and matcha were both good, definitely heavy on the lavender and could have been more balanced but I enjoyed it. The cafe was well organized and spacious. Everything we needed from straws to napkins were easily accessible. The cafe is super cute and I really appreciate their support of small artists and businesses. We also got cute little temporary tattoos that were a fun add on to our day. I also enjoy how they have community events. I will definitely be coming here again. read more

What a fantastic little coffee shop and a place to buy fresh produce! I visited recently with a friend, and we both grabbed a hot beverage and a sweet snack as a little pick me up. It was my first time at Argus Farm Stop, and I loved the cozy farmhouse vibe, friendly employees, and selection of gluten-free treats. Long tables are scattered around the coffee shop for visiting with groups of friends, and a small cooler offered local produce and prepared items; apparently there is even more right down the block at the larger farm stop. My tea was delicious - it was a vivid blue tea and tasted like fruity pebbles. The almond joy bar (gluten free) hit the spot - and I am not even usually an Almond Joy person. I'll look forward to coming back soon. Parking is the only tricky part, but I'm most days there should be a spot on the street. And there's always the option to take a bike! read more

During the Stay Home order, delivery from Argus worked like a dream. When it is impossible to get delivery slots with bigger stores, Argus is offering delivery within 48 hours. They have several kinds of frozen meats and poultry and dairy in addition to fresh fruits and vegetables. They also have bakery bread and snack foods. Thanks for supporting local farmers and helping the community during this very strange time. Update: pick up at Argus Packard also worked like a dream and I saved the $10 delivery fee. read more

Just as great as their original location on Liberty but a lot more spacious. The sunny yellow building is very welcoming, especially during the gloomy winter months. It's like a beacon of the sunshine to come! If you're unfamiliar with Argus Farm Stop, it's basically like a Farmer's Market that's open all the time. Their original location is located right int he heart of downtown Ann Arbor and this new Packard location is servicing the east side of town. Like Liberty, they also carry delicious local produce from nearby farms, locally made snacks, dairy, meats, a few prepared foods and dry goods, etc. Prices are great for farm fresh foods, too. And best of all, you can get them anytime, not just during designated hours at the Ann Arbor Farmer's Market (which I also love, but it's great to be able to come here whenever I want vs. Saturdays/Wednesdays only at the FM). The coffee counter is fantastic. Lots of tasty espresso drinks available plus delicious pastries and plenty of seating. Staff is beyond friendly and extremely knowledgeable and helpful. So happy to see them expanding throughout the city and I'm excited to see what they may offer next! read more

Sometimes it can take me months to warm up to a local business. Other times, it's love at first sight. Today, when I walked into Argus Farm Stop for the first time, I was smitten. From the outside, it seemed like it would be far too precious. But walking in and coming face to face with a cornucopia of edibles from local farms and producers, and then seeing prices that wouldn't break the bank, I was ready to toss aside my conventional grocery list and start shopping with my eyes. However, on this maiden voyage, I was just there for a coffee date. That means my shopping spree is just going to have to wait. And I'll try to hold off until I finish my current loaf of farm bread, because the loaves behind the counter looked magnificent. Even though I was at Argus for coffee, something on the cafe's board caught my eye: the chaga chicory latte. Okay, okay, it's not a latte. But it is a brewed chaga and chicory tisane that's blended with textured milk. I loved it. My compatriot, not so much. Let's call it a decidedly different taste. But if you enjoy coffee for its complexity and bitterness, you too might like this brewed combination of roots and mushrooms. I would totally get it again, especially as I'm avoiding coffee more and more these days. It's a long and tragic story. But what's a hot beverage without an accompaniment. There were some butter croissants that just get delivered on Wednesday. It was Wednesday, so I felt like that was fate trying to send me a message. Despite it being a wet day, the crust on that pastry was remarkably crisp, and the croissant was pretty damn fantastic. I'm a bit of a croissant snob, so that's high praise indeed. Part of me was tempted to warm it up a bit in the self serve toaster oven. But I wanted my first time with this croissant to be a pure expression of the form. Well, almost pure. There was a little cherry jam available at the condiment bar, and I couldn't resist a small teaspoon of the stuff. What a treat indeed. We even took advantage of the comfy chairs in the back of the cafe, which were perfect for a relaxing chat and some great people watching. Seriously though, those local grains, dairy products, produce, and meats are a sight to behold. Everything is labeled with its farm of origin, prices are clearly marked, and service was super friendly and helpful. This is now going to be a weekly stop, and I'm so excited to have found it early on in my Ann Arbor adventures. read more

First, I love the mission of AFS and will support their mission by shopping there. However, this review is based on my experience with their coffee & employees. Pros: good coffee selection, great local treats to pick up that pair well with the coffee, great place to study Cons: I've ordered the same lavender latte from there about 10 times so far and it's tasted different every time-- I wish they had a bit more consistency. The reason for my low score is that I've had several unpleasant, rude experiences with the employees. I won't go into details but nonetheless, it became so bad that I no longer want to go there to buy coffee. Trust me, I'm not a needy person and will usually brush off bad interactions but this experience really did not sit well with me. read more

Came here for the first time to try out their cafe. Got a chai latte that was pretty good. Nothing that blew my socks off but it was good enough to get again if i ever returned which I honestly probably wouldn't since service sucked. Giving 2 stars because staff was incredibly rude, very bad attitude for no reason. I guess I was waiting in the wrong spot for my drink, again i've never been here before.. and my drink had been sitting at the other side of the counter for a while which I didn't realize, and after a few minutes the barista looked at me and in a very rude tone and condescending look on her face and asked if there's a reason i'm still standing there. When I said i'm waiting for my drink she rudely said that it had been ready at the other side of the counter for a while. It was super awkward and just an overall strange way to speak with a customer, clearly I didn't know it was ready since she didn't say anything to me when it was done. Keep in mind they weren't busy so I wasn't blocking any customers or any line from where I was standing, so there was really no reason for her to make me feel stupid for standing where I was. It's a nice spot and i'm sure it's usually great, but I honestly don't think I would come back because of this. It wasn't great enough for me to go back somewhere where the staff doesn't value speaking to their paying customers kindly. You can find better service elsewhere. I find that many cafe type places like this in A2 always have that one bad apple barista that pushes you away from ever going back, and I think that was the case when I went. read more

This is a good study spot and the food is locally sourced which I appreciate. It seems like there's always a different selection of lunch and snack options, and although I come mostly for the coffee, I've yet to have any food that I didn't care for. There's a decent amount of seating inside and the staff are always very friendly. However, it can get very busy at times, making it hard to relax and enjoy your coffee. And if you like your coffee hot, you'll probably need to specify that you want it extra hot; otherwise it's pretty close to room temperature. read more

I live right around the corner from this place and it's saved me so many times! I love to shop local/seasonal, especially in the winter when I want something really fresh and good. While it can be a little expensive, I certainly don't do all my grocery shopping here, but they always have specific fruits/veggies that I'm looking for to complete a recipe. For example, I LOVE watermelon radishes, but no regular grocery store ever carries them! I can always count on Argus to have them and make sure to stop in to pick up some whenever I can. I feel good buying local products and being part of the Ann Arbor community by shopping here. While I've never sat down and worked in the coffee area, I'm making it the next on my to-do list. They have a great coffee bar with lots of seating, nice ambiance, and really great staff. I consider myself a food-enthusiast who is trying to eat more local/healthy and this is a great place to check out for more niche or wholesome ingredients! read more

I stopped in to the market on my way home from volunteering to get bread, milk, a cuppcinno and a scone. True enough, I might not have looked too fancy. I did not want my milk sitting out while my coffe was made, I drank it and ate my scone. I mentioned I wanted a coffee twice and a half gallon of Calder milk and she cut me off and told me I had to go get my milk straight away my bread already on the counter. So I went over, got it, walked back and she abandoned my order and was helping someone else. So, till lady if you were wondering why I put my bread and milk back, that is the reason. Hello I have to say I am very disappointed in the way Argus farms owner and employee treated my father this past Saturday 9/19. I shop at Argus because of my 72 yr old father, I meet the owner and was respectful because my father HAD such high regard not only for the merchandise but the customer service this store once had. I will no longer shop here ever or my dad and all the friends and people I have recommended to this store, will no longer. In fact I will also be making it a point to bring awareness to this shop through all my social media platforms. My dad, who has happily wore a mask into all businesses since covid invaded our lives can no longer wear/tolerate the mask over his nose. You see, he developed shingles in his eye and nose a few months ago (don't worry he is no longer contagious nor does he have any more lesions) he has sever postherpetic neuralgia pain. The nerve paths on his nose are extremely painful and triggered by anything air, touch, and yes the mask resting on his nose. I shopped a lot at Argus and so did my father, no more. Never My dad went in to grab a few things Saturday, he wore his mask just not over his nose... immediately an employee told him to put over his nose, my 72 yr old dad attempted to explain the boy then got the owner, who knows my dad as a customer and should know my dad has always wore his mask in past (we were just In there 2wks ago both happily wearing our mask, even chatted w the owner) she made no exception, she walked him out and profusely apologized? You know these times are sad, we are causing so much stress to our seniors, I truly believe my dad got shingles due to stress of Covid and so many more seniors this year have suffered. I mean they need to get out, they need a routine they need to socialize w people not be treated like a leper. The owner should have made an exception and as far as the employee (What do you call a male Karen) I get you want your employees to have a false sense of security and that you care and will protect them but seriously? So for example, staff that work In restaurant's customers only have to wear mask to tables then once seated no mask while ordering, eating, talking, and laughing... are those employees less important then yours #Argusfarms? NO as long as you'll have your mask on don't worry about others. You embarrassed my dad, made him feel horrible, sad, shocked, and disappointed!!! What an amazing addition to the Burns Park / Packard neighborhood and the Ann Arbor local food ecosystem! This cafe and store is a lovely place - with fantastic local produce, food and coffee. The staff is engaging and knowledgeable. A great communal space for coffee meetings or a quick-option lunch. An easy walk from campus down East University Avenue.
