Unlike all the other reviews- I did not have a successful experience at Ari Diamonds. Spent a lot of money and time and still do not have a ring on my finger! I went in with diamond hoop earrings and my engagement ring to create a new halo style ring for my 15th anniversary- Scott seemed nice- and I thought he knew what he was doing, but his style and craftsmanship were lacking when it came to my piece. The first attempt at creating my ring it was bulky and the prongs were all you saw not the glitter of the diamonds- he agreed after lengthy talk and telling me I scared him and I would probably never be happy... I should have taken the ring and gone but decided to allow him to correct his work but it would cost more. So I waited- then he called to say he broke a diamond and had to order a replacement to put in the halo part of my ring, so I continued to wait. I picked up my ring and I thought it looked much better but still not like the picture I had showed him and our conversation etc. ( Too lengthy to even type here)I went home and promptly called to get the ring appraised so I could include on my insurance. I pulled out all my paperwork on earrings and original ring and found that 4 diamonds were now missing from my ring. The rendering he had showed me had 16 diamonds on each side but the ring, only had 14. Where were the 4 diamonds???So I called him and he said he had to call me back. He then called back to say - "oh the jeweler had them on his desk." Why?? Why weren't they in my ring? He said my design change did not allow for them to be on the band. So why weren't they returned to me when I picked up my ring?? He didn't respond... I went in the next day to get the diamonds, they were given to me in a unmarked small ziplock?? Very suspect. I went to the appraiser and upon inspection of my ring one of the diamonds in the halo was of very poor quality and not like any of the others- great huh? Also- that my platinum was not pure... The appraiser looked at the four loose diamonds he returned and at initial inspection they looked to be the same, but they are not... Upon taking out the bad diamond to replace with one of the diamonds Scott said came from my earrings they are not the same size! They are smaller! This has been a complete pain! I have written Scott explaining all the discrepancies in what he has told me, based on what the 2 jewelers have told me about my ring and the diamonds etc...and I have not received a response from him. This story is too long I gave you the readers digest version. My experience was less than 1 star, maybe he was just being shady by taking my diamonds and making a crappy ring to get back at me- either way I wasted money and time! read more

I stopped by Ari Diamond after visiting one of the larger chain stores for an engagement ring and wish I had visited Scott at Ari Diamond first. Scott was incredible to work with, he was very transparent and very customer oriented and not another pushy sales person. He made the process of selecting a stone very easy. Then we were able to customize the ring using CAD and I was able to see the finished product prior to purchasing, needless to say there was no way I wasn't going to be purchasing the ring after the outstanding customer service and custom design experience. read more

my fiance and I decided to elope at the very last minute. the only problem: wedding bands that we needed to get. We pretty much had 3 working days and weekend to get them so I'm looking for something that were ready to wear and the only work needed was re-sizing of the bands. I drove to few diamond places in downtown portland after work on Friday. the 1st place had a small selection of bands and they would be able to do it in within the time frame. The only drawback was the price. Even after I negotiated the price down, they were still over our budget. So i moved to second store. It was a chain store and for the budget that I had, I couldn't get much and the bands for both man and woman were mediocre. It was rough and quality was poor. The next logical thing was to yelp for diamond places and Ari came up. I was able to make it before they closed for the day. Scott was very helpful and showed me few options and I found my wedding band and picked up his. His price was very reasonable and around the same price range with the chain store that I visited before. The plus side: better quality for the price! Scott was very accommodating with my situation and able to get the male wedding band remade with the right size in within 2 business days. How awesome was that? To top all customer service of all time my mom is in the hospital and needed a ring cut off her finger that she wouldn't let the hospital staff do because it was a ring she's worn since she was 16 (she's 75 now). Working with Scott was amazing. I live out of state so I was unable to actually visit and look at rings in person. I found a ring I liked for my fiancé on their website so I called Scott and he was able to tell me about the ring and quote me for everything. Throughout the process of designing the ring, casting it, and setting the diamonds Scott kept me up-to-date and sent pictures of the different steps. I had a personal center diamond for the ring I was having them put it in the ring for me. A day before the ring was going to be shipped to me the store was robbed and my ring (along with others) was stolen! However, Scott was very apologetic and even replaced my center diamond with a bigger and better quality diamond as well as gave me a discount on the whole ring! I was very impressed with the fine work Ari Diamonds did in setting a Mexican Fire Opal I had into a small gold pendant they ordered for it. The fire opal, being somewhat oval in shape, initially did not exactly fit the setting to their satisfaction. So they took the initiative to modify the pendant in order to make it a perfect fit for the stone. I am so happy with how it came out. Scott worked his magic changing my wedding ring from platinum to gold for my tenth wedding anniversary. He was able to produce an exact copy of the ring, which was important to me. Scott listened to what I had in mind, gave me a reasonable estimate, and even helped me brainstorm ideas for an extra special small addition I wished to make. Scott was very communicative via email and he remained in touch throughout. My ring was ready a week before I expected it and when I saw it, I had to hold back tears of joy. ...I have another project for Scott next year: touching up a valuable family heirloom I received. We had a good feeling since the moment we walked in. The rings in the cases were much more metal-detailed than anything we'd seen at the chain stores, which is what we were looking for. When we spoke with Scott, I described what I had been hoping for in an engagement band and had a few pictures to give him an idea. He was very professional, and gave us an estimate of what it would cost. I appreciated that he talked to both of us about what we wanted (some stores targeted me as the potential bride, and it made me feel unsettled, since my guy is the reason we were on a ring hunt anyway), and then checked in several times, sent us a picture to approve, etc. It was just a good experience, and when I saw the ring for the first time on the day my fiancé proposed, I was thrilled - it turned out beautifully! BUYER BEWEAR! I got engaged last year and my fiance proposed with his Grandma's diamond and sapphire ring. We decided we wanted to reset the stones. I went to Ari to design a new ring. I told him that I was thinking about using the yellow gold from the orginal setting but wasn't a 100% sure. I left the ring with him. A week later after I got the new design emailed to me (which was great and I loved it) we decided not to use the orginal gold setting. The day we made that decision we stopped in to tell Scott and he informed us that it was "good we stopped by because I was about to melt it down". My finance flipped! We had already paid the design fee or else I think at this point we would have gone elsewhere. Since we weren't using the orginal gold we decided to go with white gold. Scott charged us over $100 a gram for 14 kart white gold!! WAY over market value and higher than other stores. The rings total price kept changing as well. I realize that I was now asking for all new metal but come on. I recommend getting exact prices and getting it in WRITTING. Every time I went back he would throw new numbers at me and it got very confusing. Over three months (yes it took that long) I visited his store at least 5 times and he never once remembered my name. I know that seems like a small thing but I just didn't feel like he cared very much about me. Yes he is talented at designing and yes my ring is beautiful but I STRONGLY recommend doing research and getting everything in writting. All in all I truely feel like I was ripped off.
