Family Combo platter for 3 people
    Kay A.

Found this place on accident and came back a second time and order a family combo with the chicken, beef, beef kofte, and chicken kofte. I personally liked the chicken kofte the most. We did pick up and it looks and tastes amazing! I especially love the salad with corn and chickpeas! The "white sauce" is a must have. It gives a refreshing and zesty contrast to the main course.

Delightful! Stopped by Aria Kabab with a colleague last evening and had such a lovely experience. It's an order at the counter situation with the menu featured in lights above the counter. For my first experience here, my colleague and I shared an order of their hummus plate to start. I got their falafel over rice for my main and we shared a package of baklava (which was in a refrigerator near the counter). Their drinks are also grab and go in a refrigerator by the counter. Once you order and grab any refrigerator items, you simply grab a seat and they'll bring you the rest. While it has a fast casual feel, our food was brought on actual dishes with real tableware (not plastic) and they paced our order so we received our hummus app first and then our mains. The hummus was lovely. Topped with chickpeas and small olives with sliced pita bordering it, it was warm and comforting. There's plenty so I was able to put some on my falafel dish as well. Our server brought us three different sauces and so I was able to further flavor my falafel dish with sauce as well. The falafel was fried to perfection and came out freshly made. It was great! It comes with a small salad on the side of the plate which added some nice fresh and crisp vegetables to brighten up the dish. The dessert was the star of the show. Drenched in honey and perfectly nutty--it was an absolute dream. It's located in a small strip style mall so parking was easy-peasy and right out front. Our server was kind and efficient. Get to it!

    Plenty of parking.

It seems this restaurant opened in Halfmoon just over two months ago and I've unfortunately overlooked it. It was the Yelp reviews that called my attention to it. I know nothing about Afghan food and have been wanting to try some. Looking at their menu, I was a little disappointed at first as I didn't see something that I'd never heard of before. While not as an Afghan preparation, I've had Tikka and Kofta dishes before at Indian restaurants. I've also had Shawarma and Gyro preparations at Turkish and Greek restaurants. Falafel has always been a favorite of mine at numerous middle eastern restaurants. And then I saw it! A dish served with lamb shank (I've written before that lamb is one of my weaknesses) that is the renowned national dish of Afghanistan served at weddings, parties, and special occasions - Qabuli Palow ($23.09). AI tells me that it roughly translates to "well accomplished," indicating the skill required to balance its complex flavors. I ordered the meal to go, as my wife did not see anything that was currently on her diet. I decided to bring her a side of Hummus ($9.44) so I wouldn't eat alone. Once I opened the bag at home, I realized the chef may have forgotten to include pita for the hummus. She enjoyed it in any event as it was creamy with olives, chickpeas, and diced vegetables on top. The container with the Qabuli Palow was very heavy. Upon opening it I admired the colorful julienned carrots and raisins over the rice pilaf. I assumed the meat was beneath it all. As my fork hit a piece of lamb as I went for my first taste, the weight at the end of the fork was much more than I was expecting. It kind of reminded me of the cartoon character fishing and seeing the fishing pole bend as he began to reel in what was on the hook. But instead of a dirty, waterlogged, old boot I had found a lamb shank, bone-and-all. A few forkfuls later I hit paydirt once again, a second lamb shank. This was definitely going to be a two-meal dinner. The lamb was soooo tender and flavorful. It was easy to remove it from the large bones. The rice was tasty and the spattering of raisins, some plumped up, gave a touch of sweetness to many of the forkfuls I was enjoying. The restaurant is clean and inviting with both tables and booths. If you are going to dine-in, it appears that you place your order at the counter and take a seat. I only saw orders to go during the short time I was there. I arrived at the designated twenty minutes after ordering and my order was immediately put together once I identified myself. There is one thing you should be alert to. If you place your order online for pickup as a guest, and you choose to pay in person when you pick up your order, you will be given the opportunity to include a tip during your online order submission. Once you arrive at the restaurant to pay, the computer system on the counter will give you a second prompt to add a tip, even if you already included a tip while placing your order.

Absolutely delicious food! I went here on a weeknight and after ordering at the counter, you can choose one of their many tables or booths or take your food to go. I tried the hummus to start, which was so beautifully presented and tasted delicious. For my entree, I got the chicken kofta and tikka platter, which came with a small side salad and lots of rice. It was so good! I also loved their white sauce. And of course, I couldn't skip dessert so I tried their baklava. It was perfection! For drinks, they have water and soda as well as an assortment of non-alcoholic malt beverages, which I want to try next time. I definitely recommend Aria Kabab for a delicious meal in a relaxed atmosphere. There's also plenty of parking due to it being in a strip mall.

It is an open Kitchen mostly takeout place with several booths/tables for dine in, if wanted. Ordered for pickup: Chicken Bihari Boti, six pieces Lamb Curry with Rice The chicken was very tender and delicious. A small salad was included. I would order this dish again even though the menu has many enticing items. The Lamb Curry included a tasty, flavorful white rice that complemented the curry well. The owner included extra sauces including a Mint-Yogurt one that was delicious. I should have ordered one of the many varieties of Naan, and next time I will. Check out their menu. The owner greeted you with a smile. Two others prepared the food. While another customer (Gyros) and I waited for our orders at 11:30 am (I arrived early), the owner served us a sample of their Kheer after asking us if we had a milk allergy. This traditional Indian Rice dessert was far superior in flavor and texture to what I have eaten at other local restaurants that serve it. (Kheer is a creamy, traditional dessert made by simmering rice with whole milk, sugar, and aromatics like cardamom and saffron.) The owner even included a complimentary serving of Kheer with my order. Nice! They thank you for your order when you leave. The restaurant was pristine including the recently washed windows. Parking is plentiful. I want to order food from here for my family who likes this cuisine.

Hummus was great with the bread. Salad was tangy. The Rice and Bulgar where OK... nothing special. The waitress and the owner couldn't have been friendlier. Eating in their food area, making a food order with their cashier, or even using their digital menu, all are friendly, comfortable, and accommodating. They serve halal meats, too, which eases my conscience and my ordering options from their menu, including fresh and crispy french fries. What sets this place apart from a local or fast food burger joint, however, is the love for the experience of their food that Royal Chicken & Kebab offers. Receiving your food order from them is a delight. From the way each meal is wrapped, boxed, or sealed, to the way their burgers and subs look unwrapped. I recall the days I used to enjoy a messy local Philly Cheesesteak sub at whatever local sandwich shop I would be at, where the price wasn't about the love and care specifically, as there needed to be an overwhelming level of meat--like, get yourself dirty on a date level as the wrapper was soggy and flowing with cheese. That is part of a local Philly cheese experience, and here, I felt the love for the flavors brought to a wider community, if not the whole world. Here, our local cooks and chefs still make a sub full of steak, cheese, and peppers, but just enough to fit neatly and appealingly within their foil wraps. Each bite of the slightly warm and crispy bun reveal to me how much I still love the flavors of the experience, and don't need the sub to be my only sustenance. You can get your meal with a side of fries and a drink, for example. Royal Chicken & Kebab has a welcoming atmosphere, attention to detail in the quality of their meals, and has yet to let me down in price or service. I could see anyone, from families, to groups of friends late at night enjoying a meal here. Thank you for your work, Royal!
