Salad was very fresh but pickles do not belong in a Greek salad. Replace with grape leaves. Lettuce also doesn't belong in this salad. Cheap canned black olives. Chicken over rice was good. We are in town from California & wanted a quick bite to eat. We love gyros, so we came across Spice Gyro & Kabob. We ordered the lamb gyro, chicken over rice plate, and chicken tenders with fries. The lamb gyro was pretty good and had really good flavor. It was a little messy as the gyro came apart on me, but that's okay because it had a good amount of filling inside of it. The chicken over rice plate was also really good. My wife and son really enjoyed it, and you get a big portion! The chicken tenders and fries was also pretty good. The service was really good! One of the best things about this Spice is that they are open late, unlike many other establishments in the area. Food: certainly yummy and what you would expect. Side salad that comes with a dish contains fresh crunchy vegetables which is almost unexpected as it seems almost like a fast food spot. Ordered the chicken and beef/lamb gyro platter and same but platter with cheese rice. The menu certainly does not define that the cheese rice option does not come with a side salad. Nor does it do a good job explaining what that is. But picture is attached. Don't get me wrong still very yummy. Price: the curry dishes seem way over priced at $30 each. The platters at around $21 are a fair deal. This is certainly not gourmet but is packed with flavor. Delicious food! I got the gyro salad and partner got the gyro over rice. I can see why they have such great reviews. The price does seem a bit high but it's a big portion. I love the pickled beets they put in the salad! Meat was seasoned well and the white sauce was delicious. They are currently under construction, so take out orders only. There is a gas station next door so if you need to use the restroom you can use it there. Would come back again if we're ever around the area!! One of my biggest complaints about living in this area is the lack of good Greek, Middle Eastern and/or Mediterranean food. Never did I imagine that this understated takeout place attached to a Sonoco station (and convenience store) would have such fabulous food. The menu has plenty of choices for anyone unfamiliar with shawarma, gyros or curries...including burgers, wings and pizza. We had the gyro platters-one regular gyro and the other with chicken. Want hot sauce? Choose how spicy (from 1-10)...perfect! This comes with a small salad, is served on top of long grain rice and a side of pickles (interestingly enough). Everything is hot, fresh and cooked to order. I was so hungry that we decided to just eat on the downstairs deck (outdoors) area instead of waiting to get home. We also ordered 2 pitas (naan) and a mango lassi. Bread was hot and fresh-lassi was fabulous. What did we take home? Baklava. It's a small assortment and it's absolutely delicious. We stopped in for dinner one night after seeing people say this was a good place to eat even though it's in a gas station. We both ordered the chicken with rice, but when we ordered it, the guy at the register didn't ask what spice level we wanted, and we didn't know there were different levels until we left. When we got the food, we both thought it was extremely spicy and the wife thought it was salty, which is usually not the case as I usually say food is salty, but I didn't think it was. Overall, for Lake George, the food wasn't as bad as other places. We might give this place a second chance. All in all, the food was fantastic. It's some great quality home cooking. The rice is loaded with ghee and the chana masala is SO flavorful. Believe it or not, the gyro (which is usually the safest option) was only so-so. While I rarely mention value for money in my reviews, it's worth mentioning here. This is a hole-in-the-wall, take-out style, plastic-cutlery-only type of place. There are tables to eat your food, but you'll be eating it from styrofoam containers. There's absolutely nothing wrong with that. However, the entrees were almost $30 each. We came with 8 people and paid almost $300 total. That's a lot of money when you consider there's no table service and you're eating outside of a gas station. We'll be back for sure. If you're planning on making a trip, just keep in mind that the cost may be much higher than what you would expect from a hole-in-the-wall joint. read more

Food was bit in the pricier side but totally worth it. It's a tourist town can't complain. I decided to get my go to order I get at any other halal cart. We were in the area for a little vacation and this is like the only spot we tried that had good, actual tasty food. However, the customer service sucks. The people running the spot also own the gas station next to it. They don't give service with even a smile in the least. The person taking your order looks like he's tired af and doesn't even want to be there. Felt like they had an attitude and not very welcoming. That being said, maybe it's because I'm from NYC, but our gyros and chicken over rice automatically have white sauce and hot sauce- But they were being really stingy with the hot sauce that my husband even went ahead and paid for 2 small cup for 75 cents each. Went up to Lake George area for a weekend hike in the ADKS and just happened to drive by this place. I don't think it's been open that long, but I surely hope it lasts. Seems to be family owned and operated and I love supporting businesses like that. They have a walk up window, a balcony for seating, or you can sit inside if the weather isn't cooperating, which is often the case in the upstate. The menu is a little eclectic, but from a business standpoint, being in the LG tourist trap area, it totally makes sense that they have Indian/Pakistani food, gyros and kebabs, but American pizza (they even sell slices), wings, and desserts (from cheesecake to milkshakes to baklava) as well. Tourists gotta feed their kids and most kids ain't strayin' from their norm, that's for dang sure. So far, I've only tried the lamb gyro because I really don't eat a ton of food at one sitting, but I liked it. The pita/nan bread was steamed perfectly and it was so fluffy and warm. Ample lamb chunks, with great gyro spit flavor. Fresh tomato chunks, butter lettuce, cucumbers and red onions accompanied the tzatziki sauce, which was just a little thin for my liking. No dill in the tzatziki, so I missed that. The lamb gyro was $9.62 after tax and is definitely big enough for one big eater or two small eaters to share. Next go round I'm trying out one of their platters that comes with rice and a salad. Those run from $12.99 on up. Check out my pics of their menu since they don't have a website. Made to order so it's a bummer they don't have free WiFi as you wait. Limited parking out front. Will definitely be back to try more from their menu. read more

Stopped by this spot on our way to Vermont! I was a little skeptical at first when we pulled into a gas station and saw this little shop but the food was amazing! We ordered the lamb and chicken mixed shawarma and it was probably the best shawarma I've had. Everything was super fresh, flavourful and the lamb and chicken were cooked to perfection. KING of Gas Station Halal Food If you told me yesterday that I would have the finest Halal meal I've ever had at a gas station in frickin' Lake George, I probably would've slapped you in front of your children. I spent several days mocking my partner when they tried to convince me that we should we eat there. Every time we would drive by a gas station, I would say, "I hear that they serve a fine Duck Á L'Orange there" or "that Sunaco has better pizza than a Tuscan bistro!" How wrong I was. I may never live down the shame of dismissing this fine eatery before suckling on their heavenly offerings. Spices so savory, ingredients so fresh, meats so delectable... more cheese on the cheesy rice than seems physically possible. Portions large enough for the portliest of Lake George residents to be satiated. Next time I pass a gas station that has a restaurant attached, I'm pulling in full throttle, ordering the food, and dealing with the gastrointestinal consequences in the vain hope that their fare could even remotely approach this culinary achievement nestled into a service station in the Adirondacks. read more
