My good friend/bro bought me a gift certificate for this place on my birthday a while back and we are finally trying it out on a small date my wife and I. My wife ordered Penne al Padrino, & I ordered Chicken alla Ariani. We tasted each other's meals and I'd say mine was more delicious because mine had more sauce to it. Her meal was decent though. My meal's sauce was really interesting and fantastic it soaked into my food and made it very spectacular.y wife and I agree we will be back to this place. The only down side is it can be very loud in here. Like a high school cafeteria style kind of loud. But other than that Ivan our server did a great job he knows how to make sweet tea I'll tell you that much. He provided excellent friendly professional service. For dessert my wife ordered Rum Cake, and I ordered Cannoli. We both agreed the rum cake was more delicious. It was more a soft texture than what I ordered my cookie was hard so made me like her dish better And the food was perfect to perfection. Restaurant was clean and very nicely set up. The bathrooms are clean and they have very nicely scented candles inside the restroom area. The chef care over and introduced him self to us and all other tables around. Never again. Had reservations for 2 for 7 for wedding anniversary. Arrived 15 minutes early. Female owner was at desk. We announced our name and she said in dead pan voice. Your early, then walked away. I have vibe then to just leave.We looked in saw a bar ordered 2 drinks , We were seated, had escargot, it was smothered in a think tarragon sauce that sucked. I ordered salmon Oscar. It is salmon with lump crab meat and asparagus. The lumps were 3 slivers of crabmeat. It as well smothered sloppily in sauce. The service sucked. Had to flag down waiter twice for empty drinks. I would never give a place one star but this place deserves it. I think owners been in game to long and could give a shit. read more

I'm giving this restaurant a 5 based solely on the food and service. That being said - I have a serious complaint about their advertising and will comment on that at the end of my review. Our waiter, Jim, was excellent! Very funny, very attentive, and really made sure we had a great time. We showed up without reservations and a party of 7 and they got us seated immediately. The food was all delicious and great quality. Nothing like Olive Garden or other chains. Everyone at the table got a different meal and everyone loved it. They even made my picky daughter an off-the-menu dish just for her. All of that being said - they have lots of advertising around their building which read "Free Bottle of Wine with Purchase of Two Dinners" the only qualifier being valid Monday to Thursday only. We had no idea about this special when we arrived and it had zero bearing on us picking the restaurant. After dinner, however, our waiter brought us a business card and said the NEXT time we came in we could get a bottle of wine with the purchase of two dinners. He also said that it was only one per table and it had to be drank at the table. He then joked that some people thought they'd just send a bottle home with them. We all said nothing but.... Seriously?? First off, why didn't I get a bottle of wine my first visit? I bought two dinners just like their advertisement said. Second, why didn't I get two bottles? I bought five dinners actually. Third, I don't think someone thinking they could have the bottle 'to-go' is crazy at all... Ariani's is... interesting. To give a little back-story, my parents came here last winter, and the first thing the owner said to them was, "Do you speak English?" hah... They don't look foreign and certainly speak English. I'm not sure whether I would walk out or laugh it off. Their entire dining experience was one disaster after another, from drink to entrees - even dessert - and my dad never wanted to come back. My mom decided to give it another shot this year, and I tagged along. The food is really nothing special, prices are higher than they should be, but it has a nice atmosphere inside; that's probably all it has going for it. Our server consistently disappeared for 15-20 minute stretches, so this is not a place to have dinner in an hour -- count on two, at least. I don't think any of us will be coming again. read more

One of the best Italian restaurants in all of southwest Florida. In fact, my dad and I enjoyed this place SO much, we ate there TWO nights in a row. He's going to be a regular diner there, and I would be, except I live in Chicago most of the time. But when I visit him, it will definitely be on my list of places to visit. Let me tell you why. I wasn't impressed intially when I walked into the place. It was dark, it was quiet. And there was no one up front to greet us. A minute or so later, we were warmly greeted and led to the dining room. While it was still a bit dark, there was a great looking mural of an old Italian fishing village on the wall. The mural depicts the village of Ariani, where the chef is originally from. Our waiter, Chris was, to say the least, enthusiastic, friendly, and very knowledgeable. He's the one who told us about the mural, and spoke with pride and admiration about the chef and how we couldn't go wrong ordering anything off the menu. There were two menus, actually. One was a listing of daily specials, maybe a dozen or so pasta, meat, chicken, and fish dishes. Chris explained that the specials menu changed every few days or so. The regular menu had the appetizers, and nice selection of meat, fish, chicken, and pasta dishes. One of the items that stood out was the Schnitzel. Schnitzel? In an Italian restaurant? Chris explained that due to the large number of German tourists to the Southwest Florida region, the chef thought it prudent to cater to their tastes as well. Nice touch. As appetizing as the Schnitzel sounded, I opted instead for the Lasagna, which was featured on the specials menu. My dad ordered the Chicken Marsala. Both dishes were plentiful in quantity and excellent in quality. Dad has a small appetite, but his meal was SO good, he ate it all. I haven't seen him become a member of the "clean plate club" in a very long time. AND he was still hungry for dessert! We opted for the Napoleon on the dessert menu. It was light, sweet, and delicious! I was surprised I still had room for dessert too! The chef came out to greet us, on both nights of our visit. My dad enjoyed the lasagna on the second night, and I tried the veal saltimbocca...again, an excellent and well prepared dish. It is a bit pricey, but for food of this exceptional quality, you can justify paying a bit more. If I lived in SW Florida on a full time basis, I can easily see being a customer here at least once a week. And it's a great place to bring family and friends for solid, delicious, and plentiful Italian food! read more

Trying to be an upscale restaurant. Very disappointing. Basic tomato, mozzarella and basil salad as app. Crunchy red tomatoes (totally gassed from Immokalee) and packaged, old mozzarella. Expensive crap. Husband ordered Paella. Ok. I make Paella at home. The Spanish variety. His dish came out swimming in some sort of slop. Really?? Paella is dry with seafood and can add either chicken or pork. This was shit. I ordered Eggplant Parmigiana. Burned. Tried to send it back. All of it. Was given a hard time because we tried to eat it. Never reordered anything. Never comp-ed the meal. Ran us $75 for absolute feces. Never again. German owner is NOT Italian. Run far away. My wife and I used to visit Chef Dario a couple of times per month. He is an absolute joy. His meal creations are always wonderful. The wait staff is professional and courteous at all times. On multiple occasions we visited Ariani and brought our vacationing relatives along. Dario would come out to say hi and take our menus. He would say "I'm going to make you something nice for the family." You feel at home here and you want to come back. This is a special place, Dario truly cares for his patrons. I've never had better service, or felt more at home in a restaurant, than I do when I'm at Ariani's. read more

We have driven past this place for over a year and it is always packed! Yesterday we finally made it over there and now we know why they stay packed. So we walk in (a party of 3) and was asked if we had reservations which we didn't and after a brief discussion, we were seated. We loved the "Old Country" charm. We ordered Calamari for the app- lightly battered and seasoned to perfection! My sweetheart ordered a Veal dish, my son ordered the Salmon Oscar and I ordered the Chicken Arinai. Our first bite caused our eyes to roll back; it was amazing! I would have given them a higher rating but, the Tiramisu was disappointing. It was very small and had more creame filling than anything. Overall, we will definitely come back and bring friends! Location: 4.5 It's easy to spot on Del Prado Blvd- you may have to compete for parking with the gym crowd. First off I have to say the only reason we went here was because Manga Bene was closed on Mondays, that being said it was a pleasant surprise, they seated 5 of us with no reservations and they were busy. Four of us ordered and three out of the four meals were very good. However the fourth meal Shrimp Scampi was greasy and when we attempted to return the meal, we could see the fear in the eyes of the waitress. See had obviously encountered the rath of the kitchen before. She tried to convince us that we should just order another meal. We did and when it was presented it became clear that we were now ordering 5 meals, which we refused and requested to speak with the manager. The manager we then discovered as being too wimpy to face us and refused to come to out table. We paid the bill and left 18% for the waitress who did her job. On leaving we ran into the owner manager. She first pretended not to know of our problem but then gave up the truth when she named the dish in question. At that point she asked us to leave. What a rude and cowardice act. I know that the owners are getting on in years and have been trying to sell the business, but treating your customers in this manner will not help. Unfortunately, they have lost customers who are not seasonal visitors. Replacing the meal with a cheap spaghetti and meatballs dish would have cost them so little, but gone a long way to ensuring future business. Bye Bye Ariani. read more

I really enjoyed my (very large) meal here. It kind of a throwback restaurant. White tablecloths, waiters with white shirts and red vests, old classic style Italian food like NY used to have in the 80s. Not a bad thing, comforting and enjoyable, but not really inspired. Eggplant parmigiana, lasagna, fettuccine Alfredo, lamb shanks. Everything is served with spinach and mashed potatoes, or spaghetti. Sauce was good, and tasty. Nice atmosphere. Date visited: March 13th, 2010. This review is purely regarding decor and the treatment my wife and I got at the restraunt. We never made it to the table. My wife and I decided to give this establishment a try based on positive recommendations from some local friends. This was a special night for us, so we thought Italian would be nice. When we drove up, we saw an abundance of flashing neon indicating that this was, in fact, an italian restraunt. We parked and approached the front doors to be greeted by large signage promoting the chef's instructional DVD(s) around the posted menu. Ignoring the flashing neon and the DVD advertisements, the exterior of the restraunt looked fine. Upon entering, there were no greeters or employees to be seen. More large signage indicating that DVD(s) are for sale, and that learning to cook will make one a better lover. By now, my wife and I were starting to get some weird vibes. Another group enters behind us, who appear to be some twenty or so years our senior. After a few minutes of waiting, a female hostess appears and after glancing between me and my wife, and the larger party, she begins to address the larger party before I indicate that we had arrived first. She turns to me, asks tersely, if we had a reservation and when I indicated that I did not, she asked us to wait "over there" and immediately begin to talk to and address the larger group, addressing one another by first name, and immediately seats them. No mention of reservation was ever made. My wife and I both left, and wrote it off. However, after relating the event to some local friends, they were puzzled because they had never heard mention of needing a reservation at that restraunt before. My wife and I can appear younger than we look and we are a mixed couple. A part of me wonders whether either of these characteristics contributed to our terse and somewhat bewildering treatment. Rather than have it ruin our evening, we spent our money elsewhere. Because of our treatment and the conflicting message of the restraunt, I cannot recommend this place. The daytime photos Susan B. provided are representative. Nighttime photos should be provided as well, but we're basically done with this restraunt. Regarding the menu: Appetizers ranged from between $5-$10. Main dishes ranged from between $15-$30. The wine list looks extensive and the entrees they served were all quite enticing. It is truly unfortunate that we were not able to partake of the restraunt's offerings. Regarding attire: The customers we saw entering and leaving, while we waited, all appeared to be dressed casually. White t-shirts, slacks and/or shorts, dresses/skirts. Definitely ask if the chef can make some recommendations: Chef Dario is one if the most entertaining and happy people you will ever meet and is always enthusiastic about his recommendations. When I walked in there was no one to be found, just a tv blaring an instructional DVD of the chef, while staring at about 100 pictures of himself on the wall. Stood there for about 5 min, until someone came over, only because another patron saw me and told the waiter, but was ignored when a couple of regulars came in behind me. Great! I decided to order since I was hungry. ordered baked ziti and it was decently priced . No offense, but the ziti platter from Dominos tastes better than the crap I was served. Severely undercooked pasta, the sauce was not fresh and there was only a small sprinkling of mozerella. I don't typically leave reviews but my girlfriend and I had such a good all around experience here last night that I had so download this app just to spread the good word. The service provided by our waitress Yari was bar none, you would think we sat down at a 5 star restaurant. We were greeted by nothing but smiles and ushered to a table. We started with a couple drinks and the mussels in white wine sauce... best I've ever had and we order them at many places. They were fresh and tender, melt in your mouth and the flavor was better than anything we expected. The complimentary bread was fresh and delicious, I asked for some olive oil and seasoning and Yari promptly went to the back and returned with some, also delicious. We asked for recommendations and went with what she recommended some chicken Marsala dish and the combo lamb dish... both amazing. The owner was on the floor and stopped at every table to check in and was very personable not that he really needed to because Yari was very attentive without being over barring. Water stayed topped off, bread basket stayed full, drinks and food were all great and brought out promptly. Many staff walked over and complimented my girlfriends outfit which was also a nice touch. I can't say enough good things, just a great atmosphere with amazing food and service. I've worked the service industry before, for years, and I honestly don't think I've seen a better restaurant environment. Stumbled into this restaurant after a long road trip and seeking something other than fast food. The DQ beckoned as we were extremely hungry and wanting something relatively quickly but we already had our chocolate malts for the day so a fancy looking strip mall Italian restaurant won the dining battle. We read the full menu on the wall outside to make sure we were game and while the prices seemed a bit on the higher side, we decided it would be worth it to have something fresh and different. Our host seemed new to the game - not very comfortable with the menu or the computer and it took a rather long time for him to take our order. We watched the video of the owner/chef cooking delicious looking meals (a DVD you can purchase at the counter), admired the map of a region in Italy that is named by regional dish (nice kitsch touch) and a 3-D framed review of the restaurant. After running out of things to glance at our host completed our to-go order and then motioned for us to go to the bar area to wait for our meal. We ordered the penne pasta with fresh mushrooms/broccoli, an order of fried calamari (one of the house specials) with marinera sauce and a minestrone soup. The cocktails/wine/drink menu was extensive but we were tired/driving so a 'near beer' and cranberry spritzer it was. The bar was certainly lively with the boisterous, snozzled owner introducing himself to everyone, telling stories about how he acquired his big, new tv for the restaurant, and bits and pieces about people in the community etc. We were definitely entertained during the wait while the barkeep (very sweet, quiet) kept things steady and drinks flowing. Finally our meal arrived and we were off! The calamari was tasty but didn't seem fresh and the marinera standard fare. The vegetarian pasta was nicely done but a bit on the bland side (perhaps it's not what they're known for - seems the lasagna is the popular item in most reviews) and rather standard fare for the price. Sadly they forgot to include the minestrone soup so don't know if that was the stellar menu item and the bread was a little on the dense/borderline stale side - not what I'd expect from a more upscale Italian restaurant. My wife and I just recently moved to the area. Coming from New York we were looking for our neighborhood Italian restuarant . We hit pay dirt. We were greeted by Alice the owner who makes you feel you are invited into her home. The atmosphere is cozy and social distancing was respected. Gianni our waiter is a New York native and a true professional. His expertise helped us with suggestions to navigate a robust menu. The food was amazing and so was the service. We travel with my wife's service animal Bailey and they were very accommodating .
