I'm still trying to process the experience I just had. One as good as this doesn't come by very often. My wife and I while randomly driving around saw this restaurant and wanted to try it. I'd never heard of it prior to tonight. I had lasagna and my wife and a shrimp pasta dish. Both were the best we've ever had. The pasta was mind blowing. I don't or can't think of any other way of putting it. I had a lemon tart and wife had tiramisu. You guessed it, best we've ever had. Every bite spoke of the love and passion these folks have for their food and the guests inside. The atmosphere, calming music, knowledgeable server, friendly owners, and of course the food made this an experience I can't wait to savor again. If you have the chance PLEASE check them out. We hadn't been to Caffé Toscano since well before the Pandemic and were eager to go there once again. Happily is remains very much like it used to be: quality meals and fine service. We started with the Prosciutti Con Formaggi (basically a charcuterie with meat & cheese) for the table. It proved to be an excellent starter. For my main course, I had the Pappardelle alla Salsiccia (Pappardelle with Sausage). The pappardelle was, of course, al dente and perfectly cooked. The sausage was in small meatballs and though I prefer actual links, it was very good. For dessert, a must indulgence: Torta Della Casa (Olive Oil Cake with grapes, walnuts, & almond paste) with vanilla gelato. The cake is a house speciality and is truly excellent. Excellent Italian food homemade with love. Greeted by one of the owners. Waitress was very professional and provided excellent service. My daughter ordered the Gnocchi and I ordered the lasagna. Having worked as a concierge in a high end resort in Aspen for several years, she/we have had some really good food. This is the best Gnocchi ever! The cream sauce is to die for. Lasagna was excellent too and literally melts in your mouth. You don't find truly homemade food often. These guys deliver it with love. Hope to return when they reopen next season. Caffé Toscano is a hidden gem in Fort Myers. It is family owned and operated by Antonio and Diana. Located in a shopping mall across from Landings Yacht, Golf and Tennis Club. It is next to CIBO Italian Restaurant. Seven of us went to Caffé Toscano. Right in front of restaurant, a chalk board today's special are written. As you walk in, you noticed that antique stove by the right front windows. The place is not big but the ambiance is small and intimate! While we drinking our beer and wine, slices of Italian bread with olive oil were served. They were hard on outside and soft inside. The extra virgin olive oil makes this bread special! I have the Florida hogfish Trabaccolara. The hogfish was smothered with capers, black olive, tomato, sauce and garnished with green bean and sweet and white potato wedges. There is only one word for this dish, delicious! Wife ordered veal scaloppini with mushroom Marsala. The veal was thinly sliced and cooked to perfection. Other member ordered Veal Osso Buco with Acquerello saffron risotto. The lamb shank is tender and falling off the bone. A very hearty Italian dish! The Fettuccine with Maine lobster were run out early today. The replacement was Shrimp and scallop on a bed of homemade pasta. For dessert we have Tartufo, Olive oil cake and Lemon Nona cake. Tartufo is a smooth vanilla and hazelnut gelato coated with crushed hazelnuts and dusted with Coca powder. Olive oil cake and Lemon Nona cake are not to miss! Portions not enormous but good. This is a nice authentic italian place. I order the Carpaccio di Bresaola. A marinated slice beef. Served tarte. Very italian, a little pricy. I have never had this before. It was lite and healthy. Oh yes tasty. Plus a soup with bread that had olive oil on top. For dessert a cannoli . Over all food was delish.A hidden gem of a place in Ft. Myers. The cannoli... I an not a fan of cannolis...they all taste the same ( just like beans at mexican places). This was fresh it was good but just like other joints. I must say this can be a romantic place. Each time I come to Fort Myers I come here and always had a very good meal. I've brought other locals here who never knew of it and introduced them to it. I mentioned that to them when they sat me on how much I look forward to coming each time. Tonight was so disappointing. Everyone is allowed an error but to NOT offer a courtesy was so wrong or acknowledge & not apologize. I specifically asked about the lasagna having bechemal sauce and worried it would be too 'heavy.' The waitress assured me it's 'lighter because they skip the ricotta.' I asked is there red sauce too because I like red sauce. She assured me yes but the béchamel instead of using the ricotta makes for a much lighter sauce. The dish came to me DROWNING & soaking in grease & oil. There was no "sauce""." I explained I'd never had a bad meal here and it was anything but 'light.' The waitress said yes it's oil. I said look it's swimming in it and very rich & heavy not light at all. She asked if I wanted to have it wrapped up as I had only taken two bites. No apology or anything. It was AWFUL. I said no. I posted the pic I took. Drowning in oil! I would have thought since I didn't eat it & it was their error they would have taken it off the bill or at the very least offered me desert or taken my cappuccino off the bill. An apology or something. NOTHING! Again she assured me it was 'light' when I ordered. I went on her advise and advice. They've lost a customer. VERY poor customer service. First off if you're considering eating here, the answer is yes! Caffè Toscano is a hidden gem in Fort Myers. Owned and operated by a local couple, this restaurant offers Lee County a fresh taste of authentic Italian. I visited during a trip home this past January and was beyond thrilled with my experience. While eating there my boyfriend and I had the lasagna and the redfish special. Both dishes were perfectly portioned. I noticed some of the other reviews say the portions are small, but this is only if you are comparing them to the oversized plates served at most Italian-American eateries. The food however, is beyond compare. Each plate at Caffe Toscana is delicately prepared by the owner with the highest quality ingredients and the result is nothing short of outstanding. My redfish was packed with flavor and cooked to perfection. After dinner we had a cappuccino and an espresso as well as two of their homemade deserts. The Mrs. makes an amazing Olive Oil Cake which they told us often sells out quickly. I can see why! We also had their tiramisu which was as expected, fantastic. A must-try for all Fort Myers residents, and a treat for anyone visiting and looking for a great place for cozy date night. Can't wait to return! read more

Not from the area, stumbled upon this great authentic Italian restaurant. The service was impeccable, you could tell Christian was passionate about the food. And offered great suggestions: I had the Il Duomo which consisted of Imported Tuscan rosemary baked ham, Taleggio, sliced apples, arugula, Dijon mustard, honey, truffle oil, a great sandwich. Two others in our party one ordered the Shrimp Fettuccine, just fantastic. And lastly the LaSagna, homemade pasta, and a sauce that was to die for, the four of us sampled it and all thought it was great! I believe it was the best LaSagna I have ever had!! I loved the antique stove by the front window; it's silver embellishments shining. For mid-week in November, the dining room was full and the wine was flowing. I learned that the owner's previous professional life involved exporting from Italy of the finest purveyors' culinary specialties. That was a great ramp-up for his next professional iteration at Caffe Toscano. Even the waitress was well versed in not only the long list of Chef's own dishes, but how to pronounce them, too. There was a short stack of aromatic, bagged coffee beans for sale beneath the chalk board's announcements. A glass case next to the kitchen tempts with layers of rolled cheeses; And, my friend swears that his neighbor comes frequently just to take home some of the dense, freshly baked bread that is delivered to each table. I had Florida hogfish, caught in a bed of fresh green beans, and garnished with capers and black olives. Delicious. My friend had a type of lamb ragout atop wide noodles. My other friend held her breath and filled her lungs with hope as she ordered pasta, topped with imported, shaved white truffles. She exhaled, smiled, her fondest hopes realized for authentic white truffles, shaved wafer thin. We shared a morsel from her plate ($75) and savored for ourselves the delicate flavor that is adored by connoisseurs. They're the ones who know that dogs and not pigs forage for truffles these days. Pigs just can't be trusted; they eat them as fast as they unearth them. I would be an unemployed truffle finder if I were let loose in Italy. At Caffe Toscano, I tempered that reverie with a well selected, house Chianti until after dinner, a coffee (remember those stout little bags on display?) arrived along with a slice of olive oil cake. The three of us shared this flourless concoction made with oil, nuts, a heavy lacing of almond, and a marinated fruit. Bellissimo! read more

Nice and cosy Italian restaurant; We had a cheese and ham plate to share. Very thinly sliced italian cured ham, freshly cut! Delicious. We had two specials: Osso Bucco ($38) and Veal Milanese ($34): both were quite basic for the $$$ charge. The risotto was tasteless and the tomato sauce looked and tasted like it came from a jar. Both dishes came with the same green beans. We would have expected to have some celeriac, garlic, carrots,... in the sauce. Topping off with some cheese, parsly and basil would have made a nice Italian touch. This restaurant is one of the few places that are fitted for people that have a gluten allergy! They mark GF dishes on their menu, although no gluten free pasta was available. read more

Great food, but caveat emptor From the outside, you would not think that there is a fine Italian restaurant hiding amongst the other storefronts in this plain looking shopping center. However, once inside the door, you step into a beautifully appointed, warmly painted restaurant illuminated with warm, soft candle light. The food is exquisitely prepared, but don't rely on the online menu which lists only a handful of plates, as the chef has 4- 6 specials on any given night. The osso buco ravioli and the gulf shrimp fettuccine specials my wife and I had the evening we went were fantastic. The portions are not overwhelming, but if you're looking for a well-rounded meal, there are ample appetizers and desserts, along with an extensive wine list. My only knock on this place is the unlisted pricing for all of the specials. When the highest priced item listed on the menu is $22 and your dinner specials cost $34, it seems as if they're taking advantage when you only learn that when the bill arrives. I know that this is common practice among restaurants, but a nearly 50% price jump pushes the boundary of acceptable. After all, they know what the per plate charge will be before they serve you, so why not just say on the menu: specials from $X to $Y, or as some places do, tell you the price of each special while they rattle them off. That's why you should consider this a three $$$ restaurant, not $$. read more

Food quality was great. The portions are a joke! We had a eggplant parm that was served in a appetizer small dish, there must of been one slice of baked parm in sauce ( no pasta) the portion measured approx 4 " long by 2 1/2" wide and 1" high, or about the size of the small Iphone and with a tag price of $16 . I have traveled around Europe and have family in Italy, so believe me when I say they will never serve an appetizer as an entree and have the audacity to charge you as an entree. It was very a expensive dinner and we left hungry. It would cost the owner fifty cents to add pasta and a couple more slices of Eggplant. I will never go back there. I take pride in eating good quality food but I don't like to get ripped off ! The amount of food, or lack there of was offensive to me... Really, It is not about the money but it is about the principle. Service was not great, our waitress was always in a big hurry and completely forgot the appetizer... the other servers were very nice. The deserts were excellent but NO presentation at all. The owner was there, he seems to be a very kind and hardworking person, I wish him well, I wish he takes care of this problem. PS- I would never eat at a chain Italian rest. I agree Olive Garden, etc is dog food! read more

While visiting from NJ we ate lunch here. We were very happy with the service, our waiter was very friendly. We had bruschetta for an appetizer which was delicious. The Italian bread was fabulous (not normal for Florida) tasted like it was straight out of Brooklyn. My friends and family had paninis which they all enjoyed. I had one of the best lasagna dishes I have ever had. The only negative was the menu was a quite limited, that's the only reason I didn't give it 5 stars. I was also told there are no chicken dishes at dinner which I thought was weird. What Italian restaurant doesn't serve chicken parmigiana ? But overall we were very pleased with Caffe Toscano and highly recommend eating here if you are looking to enjoy an Italian meal. read more

Went with friends the other night and as usual everything was sensational. Appetizers were incredible, bruschetta and a imported neat and cheese try were incredible. Owner recommended a beautiful Amarone wine that paired very well with the appetizer and meals. Veal with truffles, say no more, it was outstanding. A friend had the king crab and said it was delicious. Had the Bomba and olive oil cake for dessert, both were outstanding. cute little hole in the wall with very poor presentation and food. I wandered in unaware today to have a light lunch and ordered a prosecco and the antipasto plate Toscano. Let's see: for $14 there were 4 slices of italian bread lightly toasted. One had very pale food service tomatoes parading as bruschetta topping...no taste. One tablespoon of "Tuscan " style pate which was a indifferent liver pate with nothing to denote Tuscany. 3 dried black olives. 2 slivers of dried out cheese....no Parmigiana Reggiano or even a pale cousin. Then about 1 1/2 oz. of three shaved salumi, prosciutto, and some other indifferent dried meat. That was it. Not even a basil leaf to give it some color. Dull tasting, presented without care. The much higher end Cibo, almost next door, would never dare serve such a sad plate much less charge $14 for it. I continue my search for a nice little local place to take clients. The buzz kill was one of our entrees was the the bolognese and it was very dry so we asked for more sauce and our waiter said that will be 6 dollars. Love Caffee Toscano! Antonio (owner/chef ) and Diana are wonderful hosts who really care about the food and their customers. Everything is fresh. They only purchase what they need for that day. So if there's a special on the board you are interested in, make sure you tell your waiter/waitress so they'll reserve one for you! The portions are enough to fill you up but are not intended to be gigantic so that you have some to take home. I'm a big eater and had more than enough. Even the desserts are great - Diana used to create desserts for a restaurant in Italy. If big chains like Olive Garden and their processed dishes are your speed you may not enjoy this - but if you like authentic, fresh well prepared dishes this is the place for you! read more

The waitress was super friendly and the food was awesome! We have been to Italy many times and it was like we were visiting again. Happened upon this jewel on our way out of town, and what a break that we did. Our group of four agreed the food was delicious (I had the soup of the day--so flavorful). Everything was so fresh and it was obviously prepared with care and attention to detail. The service was great, nice ambience and the owner and his wife visited with us about Italy after our meal. Plenty of gluten free, vegetarian and and vegan selections. My husband and I are vegetarian and were well pleased with what we got and delighted that the soup was so flavorful without them resorting to animal-based broth. read more

We had lunch at Cafe Toscano yesterday after reading a lot of good reviews. I ordered a chicken sandwich and my son ordered a frittata-one of their specials. Both were excellent. The waiter was very knowledgeable about their menu, and brought bread to the table as we waited for our selections. The bread with oil was fantastic. I'm looking forward to sampling more of their dishes. When we were there we overheard a few people commenting on the deliciousness of the soup. I'd like to try that as I haven't found many places in Ft. Myers that have great soup. read more

Dinner for 6 recently proved to be a night of mediocre service and relatively poor but pricy food. Side salads for 5 of us were poorly dressed, if at all. Bread was late to the table. We were headed to Panera for our usual Saturday sandwich and soup when on a whim we decided to stop in at the "other" Italian restaurant next to Cibo. What a wonderful lunch! Homemade lasagna to die for, and a pizza from the Roman pantheon. Excellent wine selection with equally excellent prices. Finished up with decadent cannolli and tiramasu. Had an interesting after dinner drink of a gold chianti that I had never heard of ,but was the perfect complement to a perfect meal. Francis, our server, was amazing, and the owner/chef Antonio, was a gracious host. Why was this place empty!!! Go there for a taste of true authentic Italian food and service. Everything was fair at best. Almost all the dishes tasted the same. The Lasagna and one of the specials the Paparedelle Bolognese, you could not taste the difference as they were made from the exact same ingredients. We had 3 of the house wines, weak, but that might be expected of house wines. However, it was obvious they bottles had all been opened for awhile. The atmosphere was nice, a little snotty, which would be ok, if the product lives up to it, it didn't. We will not go back. read more
