Yook-Hwe
Jessica F.

A most excellent dining experience from service, the ambiance and food with a great price point. The DIY scallop gimbap was extremely fresh. The Yook-Hwe was the star of the dinner show for me it was well balanced with quality ingredients. We ordered the soft shell crab which I never had and it was perfectly fried. The bread pudding was moist and not heavy at all adding an amazing finish to the meal. Will be back to try more menu items.

Scallop gimbap

The atmosphere is so homey and felt like everyone was just casually chatting over a nice meal. We started with the scallop diy gimbap which was so fresh and the perfect appetizer to share. My favorite dish of the night was the dolsot al bap - maybe one of my favorite dishes of the year. So savory and creamy with so much texture without being overpowering. My least favorite (but still good) was the crab bibim myeon just because it didn't stand out to me and was a tad watery for my preference. For dessert we got the ginger caramel bingsoo which is pretty ginger heavy and more on the savory side. The service is also excellent and the workers really make you feel at home. Highly recommend!!

Absolutely loved the food and service here. My friend and I have a multitude of allergies (shellfish and nuts) and the server and kitchen were very thorough and safe about it. There was only a limited number of dishes we could eat but they were delicious. The lotus salad was flavorful and very fresh. It may have been a bit overdressed but I loved it. The duck bulgogi was so delicious. Never had duck bulgogi and I think it's my new favorite bulgogi. It was cooked very well and was super flavorful. The ginger bingsoo was also super delicious and not too sweet. Would definitely recommend this Korean restaurant and even with the limited menu due to allergies I would definitely return. They do honor the 90 minutes dining reservation and did get kicked out because the next table was here. Not a huge deal but possibly could feel rushed.

This is one of my favorite restaurants in the city. I love their unique interpretation of Korean food. I've been here multiple times, and every dish is a big hit! The Lotus Root Salad was surprisingly great! It was refreshing and flavorful. The Pork Shoulder was super tender, and the Mackerel Gimbab was delicious, and I love how they torture for you tableside. You really can't go wrong with anything here. The atmosphere inside feels authentically Korean and retro, and the service is great. This is a must-try spot!

We had a reservation and the restaurant was busy on a Sunday night. The restaurant is small and the tables are small and very close together. The food was good but it was hard to fit all of the food on the table. We got the mak-hwe, yook-hwe, crab bibim-myeon, and the duck bulgogi. The duck bulgogi was my favorite of the items.

Soy Braised Lotus Root Salad

I had a delivery order of Set D from this excellent Korean restaurant. I chose Soy Braised Lotus Root Salad, Fried Shrimp, Duck Bulgogi, Beef Su-Yook and an add-on of Yukhwe Bibimbop. It came with rice and lettuce salad. The lettuce salad had dressing that was the similar to kimchi marinade...very interesting. The standout dish was the fried shrimp, which came with a delicious dipping sauce that reminded me of an old Szechuan "mayonnaise shrimp" dish that I haven't seen in a long time...really excellent. The duck dish was very flavorful, and the lotus root salad was a big hit, too. The beef soup dish, filled with lots of soft tasty stew meat was mostly enjoyed the next day. This was a great dinner, that I thoroughly enjoyed. Packing was great. Delivery was fast. Highly recommended.

Kimchi: the kimchi is provided for free; it was super unique and one of the best kimchis I've ever had. It wasn't super strong with the spice/sauce and the cabbage was quite fresh. 5/5 Scallop diy gimbap: this was fantastic. Each scallop was super fresh and flavorful (even individually!) and I liked how they were cut thinly so there were more pieces of scallops to use for the handrolls. The handroll ingredients themselves were nothing super special but they all perfectly complemented the scallops. 5/5 Dolsot al bap: this was the mvp of an absolutely delightful experience. The rice, cream, roe, uni, and whatever else was in that bowl create for one of the most legendary savory experiences I've ever had. If you come here and don't get this, idk what you're doing. 5/5 Staff were super friendly in giving recommendations and were quite attentive. Ambience was pretty standard for a busy Korean restaurant in nyc. 5/5

Bingsoo

Absolutely delicious and cozy Korean place in East Village with an emphasis on seafood and more Busan-style cuisine. Found their focus super unique! The flavors were authentic but hit the spot for real. We had the scallop ssam (amazing with the uni add-on) and the uni cream bibimbap (served in a stone pot so that allows the crispy rice to form, super peak), plus the fried eel (so crispy!). The star of the night was the EXQUISITE bingsoo: authentic flavors with a touch of elevation. Servers were so courteous in explaining everything and making sure we were comfortable. Do make a reservation as walk-ins are tough :)

Dolsot Al-Bap (uni hot stone bibimbap)

Yum! Every dish we ordered was delicious. Well flavored. And comfort Korean food. It was a rainy day when we stopped by, so the pork soup hit the spot! As did the uni hot stone bibimbap and the pork shoulder steak. So good!! Perfectly paired with soju. ;)

Absolutely fantastic meal here and great experience. Took a little tour of the menu with my friend and every dish was a hit. Really liked their kimchi too. Would definitely come by again next time I'm in the mood for some good Korean in EV.

Beef Su-yook
Tiffany H.

Honestly a must try! We were able to get reservations on resy.com. We ordered a few dishes: duck bulgogi, beef su-yook, fried crab, dolsot al-bap, and scallop gimbap. All of the dishes were delicious! My personal favorite and a must order is the dolsot al-bap. It was creamy and had a strong umami flavor from the sea urchin and fish roe. I also really enjoyed the beef su-yook. The beef was super tender and the broth was flavorful. Service was excellent! The servers were all attentive and made sure our tables were cleared of any empty dishes. The restaurant itself has limited space, hence the whole reservation requirement. This restaurant is on the pricier end with smaller portions, but it's a spot I'd recommend trying for date night or a little splurge!

Make a reservation because this place is busy and for good reason! Everything on the menu looked delicious and I had a hard time deciding what to get. Good thing I came with a group of 5 so we got to order a variety of dishes. We ended up getting: thin sliced fish, scallop DIY gimbap, lotus root salad, beef tartare, duck bulgogi, fried chicken, beef su-yook, and hap-cheon pork soup. Even though the place was packed, the food came pretty quickly and the staff was friendly. I already want to come back to try the rest of the menu!

There's lots of delicious Korean spots in NY, but ARIARI takes a bit of a twist while taking a focus on seafood dishes that is popular in Busan. I made reservations just a few days prior with no problem and we were seated right away. The tables are pretty close to each other though as the restaurant is quite small. The dishes here are a bit on the smaller side, so they recommend 2-3 dishes per person. My friend and I were able to try a good variety starting with the Scallop DIY Gimbap ($29) and Yuk-Hwe ($19). The scallop has such a pretty presentation and scallops were fresh, but they were cut super thin that it didn't taste like much. I enjoyed the yuk-hwe more for a wrap experience, but either are solid options. The yuk-hwe is beef tartare with baby octopus and crispy fried seafood that gave it more texture than your regular beef tartare. Next up was the iconic Dolsot Al-Bap ($19), where they mixed for you tableside. It's a stone pot rice mixed with fish roe, shellfish paste, and uni cream. It had a hint of seafood flavor that works quite nicely creating a seafood rice. It's not too strong on the uni as it's just an uni cream on top. For the meat, we tried the Duck Bulgogi ($32) as you don't often see duck on a menu. This was delicious and flavorful. It would be ideally paired with some rice or noodles. To end the meal, we got the Bread Pudding ($14), which was sticky and warm paired with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. Overall, we enjoyed every dish and found them to be quite special that you don't see on a menu everyday. I'd order the same dishes again, but also love to try other ones too next time. I'm quite intrigued by the fried eel, so hopefully will be back. Also, really loved the complimentary kimchi they have here --it's more crunchy and refreshing. My friend who doesn't like kimchi actually enjoyed this one.

Bread pudding was AMAZING and I'm English.

Thanks to my fellow Yelpers, I was lead to this great spot for a late dinner and cocktails on a Friday night. The hostess was really friendly and quicky sat us at a two seater near the bar, which we appreciated. The ambiance was light and friendly and they even had a DJ playing all the good jams! I think I danced a bit, (definitely liquid courage). The DJ read the room and created a fun ambiance. The waitress came over a few minutes later and quickly took our drink and meal order. We ordered the Tuna Crispy Rice ( Yum), Guinness Wager Sliders (Nom Nom), Korean Chicken Boas (My Favorite!) and Carnitas Tacos.....I'm embarrassed to admit that we cleaned our plates like a couple of savages. Bartley Dunnes is a great choice to come solo, meet up with friends or come as a group of no more than 4, unless you make a reservation. They have a second floor that I unfortunately didn't get a chance to check out, so I can't write about that. However, I did see people coming and going straight up. I'll be back!

They have a great happy hour running from open until 8 PM, including $6 beers and $8 cocktails, which is a great deal for the area. ordered the Bartleys Spritz (Aperol Spritz) and a Tequila Mule. We sat at the bar, which runs about half the length of the space, and there were also plenty of tables throughout. The back section of the bar feels a bit separated from the main entrance area. There are some TVs throughout, and everything inside seemed fairly new and well maintained. It was not very crowded on a Tuesday early evening, so service was quick and the staff was very friendly. We did not order food this time, but everything coming out of the kitchen looked and smelled great. Overall, I would definitely recommend this spot for happy hour drinks in the MoMA/Midtown West area.

The moment you step inside, you're transported to the Victorian era, with ornate details and charming décor that make the entire space feel like an experience in itself. We stopped in before a show without a reservation and, while the dining room was full, we were able to grab seats at the bar. Honestly, I think it worked out for the best--the bar felt more spacious than the table seating and had a relaxed, unhurried atmosphere for a Wednesday afternoon. The mocktails were as creative as they were delicious, and the cocktail menu offered plenty of tempting options as well. The bartenders were attentive, friendly, and impressively efficient, striking that perfect balance of great service without constantly interrupting your conversation. We shared the sliders and the summer salad, and both were generously portioned and perfect for splitting. Between the beautiful setting, excellent drinks, and seamless service, this is definitely a place I'll be returning to.
