I recently visited Ariemma's Garden Center in Staten Island and had a very upsetting experience regarding my service animal. Upon arrival, I was told that I could only enter if I carried my service dog. I attempted to calmly explain the ADA regulations, which do not require service animals to be carried and specifically state that they must be allowed to accompany their handler on foot. Despite this, the staff member insisted that I still needed to carry the dog and claimed that because there were "no identifying markers," the dog wasn't a service animal. This comment showed a clear lack of understanding of ADA law, as service animals are not required to wear any special vests, tags, or identification. When I tried again to explain the law and clarify the situation, the staff member became verbally aggressive--raising his voice and making the situation feel hostile and threatening. The entire interaction was completely unnecessary and extremely unprofessional. This experience left me feeling disrespected, discriminated against, and unsafe. I genuinely hope the management chooses to educate their staff on ADA requirements and how to interact appropriately with customers who rely on service animals. Needless to say I left without spending my money. Amazon wins again, possible lawsuit to follow. read more

DO NOT SHOP HERE... ...unless you like your plants INFESTED with fungus gnats. 3 flats of various greenery and flowers literally thrown in the trash from constant gnats that were impossible to kill. One year, it was a fluke, I thought. The same thing last year? Not a coincidence. Go to Conrad Schweizer Nurseries up the block. A little more money, but your plants and flowers will live the whole season without gnats. read more

A pleasant garden center across the street from its brother business (Ariemma Deli) located on Hylan Blvd. From the few times I have been to this flower shop it has been a fine experience. There are many kinds of flowers and other plants in this center which are well taken care of. There are also several plant tenders regularly moving through the aisles to transport more flowers/plants in and they make sure to water them well. Other than flowers and plants, they also offer basic gardening accessories like flower pots and watering kettle cans for sale. Besides the (many) regular side walks of the roads nearby, there does not seem to be any designated parking area for this small center. Buying from here has been a good experience so far and I am looking forward to coming back to buy again! read more

The owner is very rude. I went in with my kids and was yelled at even though he was with me the whole time and wasn't causing any trouble. Someone else had walked by an aisle and knocked over a plant and he blamed my child even though I witnessed what had happened. Plus they are over priced. I would definitely not recommend. read more

Had the most amazing experience at this place today!! I went there last week and by accident left a bag of heirloom tomatoes that I paid for but forgot to take. I live on the south shore so didn't want to make the trek back and tried to call but their voicemail is full. I sent my kid there today and she told them my mom left a few pounds of yellow heirlooms we have no receipt or proof so I was not expecting much. Low and behold, Michael have my daughter two huge beautiful yellow heirlooms. I love their fresh produce and they do indeed have the BEST tomatoes on the island. This place always has well taken care of flowers. I rather overpay a $1 or $2 instead of getting stuff from home depot which dies in a week! When i purchase flowers from this place they grow great! In the summer they also have organic fruits, vegetables, and eggs!!! I wish they sold them year round.. i do not agree with the previous review in regards the owner. I personally in 3 years have not experienced any negativity. read more

I killed flowers from multiple other garden center, and couldn't find flowers that could survive. Spoke with a staff person and explained what we needed, and he was super helpful. We settled on Vinca flowers and they lasted until winter. Great selection! read more

Best selection on Staten Island. Can't be beat for huge herb and garden plant selections. A bit pricey on some, compared to box stores but the quality is miles better and well worth it. They got it all, and then some. Each year I discover more new selections too. Sure it's hard to park during peak hours, and it can get a bit chaotic at the register, and the staff work very hard and can get a bit brusk, but go early or late in the day and beat the rush for a great experience. Tons of staff to help you and they will order what I want sometimes, and they take excellent care of their stock not like the box stores. I'm a long time gardener on a tight budget and rely on them every year for my herbs and veggies to plant. I too would much rather pay a small bit more here and get a better garden at home. Such a lovely place too, if you ever just want to escape to a botanical garden like experience just stop by and stroll around for a quick spirit lift. read more
