Bernard-the owner has the very finest flowers on Staten Island, however, Irving, perhaps who was having a bad day acted extremely unprofessional! He informed me that he was going back to my Mom's house to redeliver the flowers to the given address! This made my Mom extremely pensive, understandably! I said, "She doesn't have them! " which he said he no longer wanted my business! I came to Staten Island 20 years ago and have sent several arrangements from the Hylan blvd store as well! I was extremely skeptical since there was no website, no reviews, nothing to go off. I didn't expect any replies that night since it was already late because the shops were in New York and I in California. However, the owner Edwin got back to me almost immediately. I loved how quick, polite and clear our communication was. I sent a picture of a bouquet that I had it mind, just to give some ideas. The person gave a quote, plus a reasonable $15 hand delivery fee. The price was fair, comparable to bouquets of other shops that I saw online. I thought it was going to be a very basic version of the bouquet I wanted. I asked that a photo be sent of the flowers before delivery, just so I could see what they looked like and they were absolutely beautiful. They were so much nicer than I expected. When the bouquet went out for delivery, my in-laws ended up not being home. They rang the bell, called and everything but there was no response. I was contacted through text message by the shop about what they wanted me to do. I loved how great the communication was. Almost the entire transaction happened through Yelp. It was so easy and stress-free. I'm so glad that I used Lapeoni. I highly recommend this shop for its customer service, professionalism and gorgeous arrangements. Upon arrival, I was told that I could only enter if I carried my service dog. I attempted to calmly explain the ADA regulations, which do not require service animals to be carried and specifically state that they must be allowed to accompany their handler on foot. Despite this, the staff member insisted that I still needed to carry the dog and claimed that because there were "no identifying markers," the dog wasn't a service animal. This comment showed a clear lack of understanding of ADA law, as service animals are not required to wear any special vests, tags, or identification. When I tried again to explain the law and clarify the situation, the staff member became verbally aggressive--raising his voice and making the situation feel hostile and threatening. The entire interaction was completely unnecessary and extremely unprofessional. This experience left me feeling disrespected, discriminated against, and unsafe. I genuinely hope the management chooses to educate their staff on ADA requirements and how to interact appropriately with customers who rely on service animals. Needless to say I left without spending my money. Amazon wins again, possible lawsuit to follow.
