Chill: (W/ Cherry Blossom Iced Tea)

If you know me on or outside of Yelp, you know that I don't drink coffee or eat anything with coffee in it and haven't had it in almost 15 years. And so, I depend on a great hot chocolate, hot cocoa or tea. With that being said, hubs and I did a double-take when we noticed Arios' box-trailer/ concession stand right outside Newburgh Antiques on an early Sunday afternoon. But I think I'm more amazed by the fact that the 19 yr old (owner? manager?) spearheading Arios, whipped up for us two tasty tea drinks with finesse. You can certainly get coffee beverages- but this youngster created a fun and tasty Iced Cherry Blossom Tea for hubs adorned with those cute Hawaiian umbrellas (I love cocktail decor). Mind you, he went as far as mixing the ingredients in a cocktail shaker with true bartending skills. Dude was slaying it! And my hot Earl Grey with Oat Milk- which he frothed, was taken to another level. For the itty-bitty size of his concession stand, it's hooked up with a really cool black exterior. The guy tending Arios is young, friendly and a genius barista.

They had a good amount of seating (including both in the coffee area as well as surrounding the books). The service was friendly and they had a really good variety of books to choose from. I'd come here all the time if I lived close by.

I have so many good things to say, where do I even start?!…read more First of all, this book and bar spot is absolutely beautiful. It's located on such a charming street, and stepping inside felt like walking into an elevated Barnes & Noble straight out of a Harry Potter movie. There are endless shelves of books across every genre, cozy seating throughout, and the perfect atmosphere to spend hours browsing or reading. The coffee was just as wonderful as the space. I wasn't sure what to order, so the barista recommended a drink and was incredibly accommodating with my many requests. I can't have too much milk or syrup, so I basically gave them a complicated custom order, and they made it exactly to my liking without hesitation. I also ended up buying one of the chocolate bars they had at the counter and turns out it was $20!!!! As a tourist, I had no idea it was a well known local chocolate brand with a factory nearby, so that was a fun surprise. This is the kind of place that makes you want to slow down. I'd love to come back, grab a coffee, spend the entire afternoon reading, and just soak in the comforting smell of books and fresh coffee. Such a cozy, magical spot that's well worth visiting!

Little options: no decaf, only one alternative milk choice. I opted for the mocha and I will say it was delicious. I ordered a small and was given a large cup but she explained she ran out of small cups so it's a small size in a large cup. Not an issue, but all of it together left an unpleasant taste. Mocha was yummy, but not sure it was tasty enough for me to return to this unwelcoming space.

I asked for a bowl and she very abruptly expressed that she was only doing a limited menu today, no bowls. She could make an egg and cheese sandwhich and it would be 10 minutes. I said I was willing to come back and ordered the sandwhich. As I stepped away, I watched the woman behind the counter go back to her phone. No wonder the place is always empty. There was NOTHING welcoming about the experience. If I wasn't so darn hungry, I would have said "forget it." The sandwhich itself was really good, and a great price (compared to the rest of uptown Kingston), which I appreciated. She thanked me for coming back for the sandwhich and that was that. Really too bad the place isn't more welcoming. They'd have more customers from nearby offices, I'm sure.

You must be masked in the large open area as you walk in to order. It's my kind of place but I wish the owners could create a friendly and safe seating area in front with the nice big windows, books and plants. Most, it seemed we're doing takeout.

It's divided into two large rooms, one with the cafe & bookshop and the second with more seating & local art. We tasted several pastries including the mushroom tart, pumpkin danish, and jalapeño cream cheese croissant. All were fresh, delicious, and made with a sense of love you can only achieve from a handmade good. We had several varieties of coffee and tea and all were on point. The space hosts different events and apparently we missed a noise show the night prior. Sliding scale menu, so prices are reasonable at the suggested rates. They also have a community fridge & pantry and we watched as local donors came by to donate fresh goods. Overall, I can't praise this place enough for creating a communal safe space. If you're in the Kingston area, this is a must see stop.
