Dear Arirang you were the one who introduced me to Korean food for the first time years ago! I believe you are one of the oldest Korean restaurants in town! Everything I have eaten at this restaurant has been solid 5 stars! From flavors to ambiance and even the owner who is playful and strict all at the same time. No messing around with her lol if she ask if you are ready to order you better be ready to order! I keep on returning to this restaurant even though we have many choices for Korean now in town.

Authentic, fresh, hole in the wall. The ambiance was very homey but dark and very clean. We were greeted and seated as soon as we got in. Staff were extremely friendly and checked on us multiple times. Food was so flavorful and hot.

We were craving Korean food and found this restaurant online. It was very tucked away off the side of the road and honestly a bit hard to find at first. The sign isn't too big and it was right off the busy, fast moving road, which made turning into the parking lot a little difficult. We came around 8PM and they were not very busy. The actual surrounding area was also a bit sketchy to me- lots of businesses had bars on the windows. The interior of the restaurant was similar to a log cabin with lots of wood paneling. They waited on us quickly and brought the food out. They brought 7 options for banchan and unfortunately I didn't like any of them. I love gochujang cucumbers but their cucumbers tasted limp and soggy. We also ordered the bulgogi and beef tofu soup. I wasn't a fan of the bulgogi- my friend ended up eating pretty much all of it. There wasn't much flavor and it just didn't taste very good to me. The tofu soup we ordered mild but they brought it out with no spice at all (hence the weird watery color). We ate a couple bites, which wasn't good, and ended up asking our server to add some spice to it. They complied and it completely changed the flavor of the dish. I will say it made it just a touch spicy for me but it definitely enhanced the flavor.

Grilled mackerel with generous portion and cooked to perfection. Yook Gui Jang was very tasty. The spicy pork was tender.

Came here at 12:45 in the morning after a late flight arrival. The staff were friendly. The portions were generous. The taste was authentic. It was late and they needed to close so I got the rest of the food To Go. The older gentleman told the waitress to pack an extra bowl of rice and gave me various banchan To Go. This gesture did not go unnoticed by me as I hit the 20% tip to support the local business with a heart of gold.

A Korean spot. In San Antonio. That closes at 2AM. The KITCHEN closes @ 2AM?! Dude. This place deserves more love. To be able to get yummy Korean @ 1AM is impressive. The service is great straight forward what you want to eat. It's a cute little hole in the wall on the road. You get bonchan and rice and whatever entree you choose. I just moved from DC where Korean food is abundant. This was very good.

    So many side dishes!

Came in on a rando Thursday evening (semi-early in the evening as we were famished). Saw this in an Express News article "Visit these 10 Asian-owned eateries for AAPI Heritage Month" so thought we'd give it a go. Blink and you'll drive right by. Located on Austin Hwy almost catty corner from the Dollar General Store. If you get to the VFW you've gone too far. Very nice and friendly server (adult and not a kid). Pointed out and gave several recommendations from beer to food. We started with the Goon Man Doo (fried dumplings). They were a hearty serving and fiery hot (temperature not spice) and came with a tasty dipping sauce; perfect combo of chewy inside and sharp, crunchy outside. Hubs had the Terra Beer (a big beer). He ordered the Bul-Go-Gi (a heaping serving of beef) which he really enjoyed. Tasty meat and a great sauce; a little on the sweet spice with a medium heat (he asked for). I thought it was a mild heat myself. I ordered the Korean BBQ ribs and man, a TON of meat. Even while sharing the meals I still asked for a to-go box. Meal Came with steamed white rice and bowls and bowls of sides (all cold) ranging from kimchi to pickled cucumbers and more. The sauce on the cold brocccoli was so tasty! Some I couldn't really identify, and all of them varied in the spice/heat levels. As we were finishing a party of four came in and then a single diner came in so it was picking up for the night. (We overhead the larger party say to him, "we're happy to be back again". Definitely 5 for the food. The place itself is dated and a little sad looking inside. The ladies bathroom left something to be desired but hey, you're there for the food right? 3 for the interior. A homeless, looked like Jesus man wandered in and was immediately asked to go. Several security cameras on the perimeter and are on full display on a large screen so they can see who's coming and going. Safety is a +. So many more choices to try. Will return and bring a friend as well.

Best Korean food I've had in San Antonio! Very great service and excellent food! Plus they are open until 2am!!! Can't beat it.

Authentic Korean food at a reason price. They served food extremely fast. Definitely recommend this restaurant. It's hidden on Austin street. Owners are extremely nice people.

In a sentence: solid hole in the wall Korean joint. Its not fancy, but it gets the job done. Lots of sides / bon chon. Gamjatang was good flavor, though pork could have been more tender. I wouldnt compare it to LA or northern VA Korean restaurant quality, but solid for San Antonio.

Delicious seafood pancake and japchae. Dark cozy atmosphere and fast attentive service. Seafood pancake had calamari, scallops and shrimp , highly recommend.

The food was really really tasty and this place is great for a late night meal! My friends and I went after the 4th of July and were pleasantly surprised to find this small restaurant on the side of the road. Safe to say we will be coming back!

Delicious and it also came with a side of rice. I give the bulgogi a 9/10 And the hangover soup 10/10 Super delicious

There were 7 different banchan options, and some were great while others were just okay. The fish cake and kimchi cucumbers were good, but others like the kimchi and the bean sprouts could have used more flavor. As an entree, I ordered the spicy tofu soup, but I wish it was a little spicier! The soup also had a stronger seafood/fish taste compared to other tofu soups I've had, which I didn't expect. The service was just okay, not rude but also not excessively nice. I liked how cozy the inside felt with the dim lighting!

He was excellent! It was our first time there and he was great about explaining how everything went and gave us good tips on ordering. He checked on us throughout the meal, never hovering but always right there when we needed him. The staff and the Kpot bear came around with a birthday song and dessert for my husband which was a nice touch. The food is excellent! I feel like you can't go wrong no matter what you order. Chas Market & Kitchen had been long on my list and since it was minutes away, seemed like the most logical choice. I have constantly heard people sing its praises. I will say I'm not versed in Korean fare. I had previously went to another Korean Restaurant and had a terrible experience. It is somewhere on the outskirts of the Eastside, alongside the highway. From the exterior it feels like a neighborhood convenient store. Once inside the room opens up with ample seating and tables. I noticed the tables that are specifically for their "All You Can Eat" menu but that's for another review. Along the walls are fridges with drinks and little knick knacks. It reminded me of a bodega. After we found a seat a server came and left menus. The menu is really extensive. I decided on their beef bulgogi, again a redo after the previous restaurant fiasco. A hip soundtrack is playing overhead, which I believe gives the place a modern vibe. Before I go on I must include that the server was excellent. I say this as he was very attentive but still able to work the rest of the room. Whenever I go to a new place sometimes I feel an anxiety. My fear is being disappointed and having wasted my time. But my impression is that it is an ultra laid back place. You can leave your Armani suit and Louboutin shoes at home. When the food came to the table it was served on a plate steaming similar to a fajita plancha. The server brought over accompanying small dishes that are meant to be added to the bulgogi. The small dishes contained: kimichi, spicy cucumbers, radish etc. Combining any or all with the dishes heightened the flavors. I think this was the most unique tasting thing I've had this year. In addition if you want a drink you have to choose one from their wall of fridges. I think this might dissuade some patrons but again, the overall experience is like that of a bodega. If you are looking for great Korean food with excellent service by all means go to Chas Market & Kitchen. So far this year this has been the restaurant with the most unique flavors. It is perfect for a date night, friends or with family. And I have to, have to absolutely do their "All You Can Eat" where you cook all items. I'm buying if someone else is doing the cooking.

Skip K-Pot and eat here. YOU WON'T REGRET IT!…read more For starters, the inside of the restaurant is cozy. Very clean, spacious, and you can hear your thoughts. The staff is attentive and our drink orders were taken as soon as we sat. The waitress was patient with us and explained how the all you can eat works. We were used to K-Pot where you just order and order, whereas here you have a limit to what and how much you can order. You are limited to so many items at a time, and we found ourselves actually enjoying that. We were not overwhelmed with too much food and no space. You don't have to get up from your table at all, everything is brought to you. All of the sides they bring you to go with the all you can eat are so thought out and flavorful. The noodles, the cucumbers and the squash, everything. And everything is prepared fresh. All of our sides and soup came out hot and steaming. Not like heat lamp hot, like fresh out of the pan hot. We got the ttekboki, fried dumplings, and vegetable tempura. They were all delicious! Now the quality of the meats here is MILES beyond the chain KBbQ places. All of the cuts were a decent thickness, and were portioned quite well. They were very flavorful. We ordered thinly sliced steak, spicy bulgogi, bbq chicken, and pork belly. All were delicious. We were a table of 3 adults and 2 kids and did not even get a refill on the meats. They also have a smoke vent to help with the grill. We really appreciated that. And we never had to change our grill, because things did not burn. Often at other places they are walking around having to change grills 4-5 times. Overall, this has become our favorite Korean Restaurant. We already have plans to return and bring friends and family. Give this place a try.
