A friend and I met up here for dinner, restaurant looked promising and Korean bbq is always delicious. Service and ambience was good, waiters were attentive and food was fresh. And I actually didn't go home smelling like smoky bbq. However, what really irritates me it that they imposed a minimum order policy. It's quite baffling that we had to order a minimum of two BBQ meats in order to try their main dish. This policy not listed anywhere on their site, if I had known earlier, I would have considered not going. For two girls it ended up being too much protein and we didn't get a variety to try another main entree. We ordered the BONELESS KALBI SHORT RIB and BULGOGI, with tips and tax it came to $60. The bulgogi ended up being an overkill on meat and we didn't even finish our food. Overall, I would give a higher review if I had more flexibility in the menu variation, but I left not feeling to satisfied with what I could or could not order. read more

The menu clearly states "All BBQ items are served with our complimentary side dishes of the day, ssam (lettuce wrap), cabbage salad, three signature dipping sauces, and spice", after I ordered Boneless Kalbi Short Ribs, Premium Rib Eye, and Pork Belly, we did not receive the ssam with our order. When I asked a server about where our ssam was, he seemed surprised by the question and told me it costs extra. If it costs extra, then why does the menu say it's complimentary? This has been around forever and the food is still delicious. They also have a lunch menu which is very inexpensive and gets you a bulgogi with your choice of six soups. That, coupled with a bi bim bap (my favourite is dolsot) will feed two people quite nicely! Given it's called Authentic Korean BBQ, I guess this place specializes in BBQ. However, we didn't order BBQ... so the review only reflects my opinions of the stew + beverage portions of the menu. [ORDERED...] Spicy short rib stew ($12.95) - I believe there was prolonged slow-cooking for this stew, so the meats and other items tasted a bit more mushy. I'm sure it's meant to be cooked that way, but it wasn't completely aligned with my palate. Hence my personal opinion of it is 3/5. Bulgogi stew ($11.95) - this is a mild, non-spicy soup my friend ordered. It's hearty and traditional. Peach soju ($15.95) - Love this soju! Obviously more expensive to drink at a restaurant than to buy from BC Liquor but the laid back atmosphere here is perfect for a bit of alcohol. [OVERALL] The portions and quality is comparable to other places. The place is quite modern. The seating is very comfortable, with plenty of table space. The screens playing kpop MVs add a bit more authenticity and happy vibe for the place. Horrible service. 11 of us went there for dinner. They asked to take our order before half of us we even took our jackets off or even glanced at the menu. They never cleared a single dish off the table throughout the entire dinner. Never offered to even refill water or tea. We asked for a take out container and they came to the table with it along with the bill and demanded repeatedly "Who's paying?" We hadn't even asked for the bill. They didn't even ask if we wanted anything else. We said we were not ready- just leave it on the table. 5 minutes later they came back to us and decided to charge us 15% service fee for being a large party. They said they "forgot" to add the fee. Lol. For doing what? They barely provided service. Furthermore not a single "Thank you" SMH. The Edmonds location was just as bad. I asked this guy twice for napkins and after the 2nd time he said to ask the waitress! So in total I had to ask 3x for a couple of measly napkins. The restaurant was practically empty at the time. TL;DR: The manager cancelled my take-out order and told that to my face without any apologies. I sent an order through Fantuan 40 minutes before closing. Sometimes orders don't go through when it's that near to closing time so I waited a few minutes to see if this would happen. It didn't, so I started driving to the restaurant. Some Fantuan associate called me while I was on the road but couldn't get his point across. He only spoke Mandarin, and mine is spotty. I got there at 11:34pm and it was lights out, even though supposedly it closes at midnight. The manager was standing outside. When I told him I had a Fantuan order, he just replied "oh, I cancelled it." Then he walked to his car with not another word to me. No explanation of why they were still taking orders through Fantuan when they weren't able to fulfill them. Didn't even add one word -- "sorry." People don't order midnight meals unless they are strapped for meal options, and people don't randomly drive around at that time of night because it's fun to drive on an empty stomach. I was, in fact, having an absolutely horrible day and was looking forward to something nice to eat at the end of it. Instead I had this awesome capstone to the evening. I get that s**t happens. Made a reservation the day before Saturday night for 10 people. Came with my friends on the Saturday night and we stayed on the private room area. The restaurant was busy that day. Ordered 2 of the combos for BBQ and it comes with the rice and side starter dishes. Ordered 2 another main dish spicy pork with squid, and spicy noodles with calamari. Our ordered a came and as expected, the cuts are very good! Not really a fan of the noodle and calamari but everyone enjoyed it. Even my friend who is Korean and familiar with other Korean BBQ restaurants was impressed with the place.. Limited variety of drinks but decent prices. Yes, this place is legit. I came here three times and tried almost everything except the duck meat. My recommendation is their beef galbi and pork jowel meat. Their soy bean soup and bibimbap varieties and also decent. The price is high but I accept for the quality. It is is the best korean BBQ place in BC. Wasn't too bad at first. Ordered the boneless kalbi, meat at a lot of marbeling. The first dish came with some onions, zucchini's, and the menu also said all bbq dishes come with side dishes and lettuce. We asked for the lettuce, and it did not come and we had to ask 3 different people before we finally received it. We finished the first round of meat along with the vegetables that came with it and the lettuce (which was a small plate with some lettuce for the whole table). Later decided to eat some more and ordered the ribeye which was $34. It came with just the meat, no onions or any vegetables. We asked for some more lettuce to go with it and they refused and said only 1 plate of lettuce for each table, and that it does not come with any more even if we order more meat. So we had to eat the meat with nothing to go along with it. The ribeye was also super dry and flakey. Pretty disappointed in the service because menu clearly said all bbq dishes come with lettuce but they refused to give us more to go with additional meat that we ordered. When we complained the manager just came up with many weird and unreasonable excuses as "oh if we allowed more youll just keep asking for it" and "oh some people don't like lettuce". To be honest, this so far is one of the best children friendly restaurant I ever met. Food and crew members are great, my 3 years old and 14 months old enjoy their time during stay(trust me, it's not easy). There is a small tv on each table plays Korean music and my kids loved it and they did a little sing and dance while we were eating, first time no kids you tube and burning my data, yeah~~!! Staff are wonderful! Young but polite and friendly. I ended up gave them 20% tips coz they did serve us very well. Will put this place in my regular visit list for sure. read more

I like it here and come with the wife once in a while on date nights. Food: One of the best Korean restaurants in Coquitlam. We mainly go for the meat. Portion sizes are quite small, but have always been consistent of quality. I've also had the spicy noodles and a few of their soups, which have been good as well. If I had to say anything negative about the food, it would be that they seem to use a lot of sugar to season the food. Drinks: They have Korean Soju and beer. The Korean beer they carry is relatively unknown, but was pretty good. I recommend it. Price: Everything is pretty over priced. We usually order the combo of 3 different choices of meat and order a few bottle of soju and beer.This will run a bill over $150 easily. At the same price you could buy some several packages of pre-made korean bbq at the Korean market and buy a box of soju at the lcbo. However, we don't mind paying, because it's worth it. Why? Ive been to so many korean bbq places i cant even began to count. This is by far the worst. For a place that is not AYCE the quality of the meat was below average. The meat was given to us completely frozen and in a very small portion. The servers were rude and one idiot even turned off the grill before the meat was done. The sides were whatevers. No complimentary rice or seaweed or hot egg. Whack. With the price that i paid for 3 ppl wouldve been better off with AYCE. ZERO stars... I had to give a rating in order to write this. I was appalled by the entire experience. We ordered the Spicy Assorted Meat and Vegetable Hotpot for 45$. After asking questions, we were told that dish contained various meats such as pork and beef. Instead, we were served a deplorable dish of non-sense! The so-called hot-pot contained nothing less than hot-dog sausages, sliced spam, tofu slices, mushrooms and onions! Utterly terrible. I thought it was a joke! After explaining my disgust to our server at what was served on the table, and the insult of asking 45$ for this, I confirmed that we were not going to eat this and that we would be excusing ourselves from the restaurant. I came here late at night with my partner and there were plenty of seats available. Meat was on the expensive side and the server isn't much help with the menu at all. I got laughed at for trying to pronounce what I wanted from the menu lol. The meat wasn't that great of quality for how much we were paying, which is over $20 per portion. The beef brisket we had smelled a bit funky and tasted off. Our food was dropped off and the server just disappeared after. We had to walk up to someone to get refills for our drinks. Overpriced meat that was very tasteless. The staff are attentive and friendly but the meat was awful. They brought out the uncooked meat all decorated and fancy on the plate before they put it on the grill (high-end appearance? which is pointless because it looks just like any ordinary meat on the grill once they take it off the plate). Once it cooks it literally does not taste like anything and you need to use the salt and samjjang they provide to make it better. The portions were also very small. Went here for the first time tonight,and though this places looked promising by the looks inside I was very disappointed. Food was over priced for what you were getting. Ordered two meats (as it is required to order at least two) and they were not even seasoned. As for the service, let's just say there was none. While the table right by us was brought there check and a credit card machine to pay we waited for our bill for a while before I eventually got up and asked someone for the bill, that's when they told me that we had to get up to pay.... bottom line is I wouldn't recommend this place and probably won't be back. Great BBQ place. All Canadian beef, dry aged 21 days, the best cuts, and absolutely delicious. Very impressed by their meat quality. Very clean and authentic charcoal Korean grill. Great kimchi sides and japchae. I would recommend going there for their speciality which is beef BBQ. If you want soups or other Korean cuisine go somewhere else. Prices here are not cheap but the portion of meat is decent and the side dishes are filling. The best thing is that they speak English and BBQ the beef for you so you can relax and watch the Korean music videos in the individual TVs at each table :) I heard they are opening another location in Richmond soon.
