I came here with a friend. Gooi Ga is the same owner as the Jejudo. Yes they also serve the raw crab here. I wanted to get it but the issue is two crabs for $36. I don't want two crabs. I just want one. So instead I got the Beef Short Rib Soup. The soup was quite tasty. the beef was a bit bland. Portion size was a bit small. For $22 it wasn't too bad. Most people come here for their BBQ. They have weekday specials. The restaurant is quite small and for some reasons it looks a lot bigger from the outside. You order from an ipad reducing the number of staffs needed. There are only two servers working on a Sunday. There are a lot of blind spots in the restaurant and so that means that it can be challenging to wave down a server at times. Parking is just outside of the restaurant.

Ordered the BBQ set, which had ample food for four people. The quality of the meat was good, and priced well. They offer daily specials, so keep an eye out for them on the menu. They have a tablet at each table to order, which minimizes wait time.

Very good taste. The servers are very nice too. Wednesdays have 10 percent off the entire meal except drinks. I become a loyal customer :)

Was hesitant to go at first as there was barely any photos on the review but turns out its just newly open. :) Food was great tasting and well portioned. Servers comes right away when you need their help. Restaurant also has tent outside, similar to what they have in korea. Definety worth a visit and will be back for more :)

Gooi-Ga is a subpar Korean restaurant. I've gone to this place twice and been disappointed in both the service and the food. The first time I went I ordered a Spicy Tofu Soup (Soondubu Jiggae) and it was not that great. The soup tasted like somebody grilled kimchi in the pot and then mixed it with a bland miso soup. The tofu clearly was not cooked for a long time in the pot and tasted like they had just thrown it into the bowl minutes before I was served. The soup cost me $15.50 so, not cheap. But this was a KBBQ joint, so I guessed that the Korean Barbecue would be much better. I was wrong. When I came back with some friends, i was disappointed with the selection of dishes. There was no Bulgogi. Which. Wow... When we did order the marinated short rib, and beef tongue the portion sizes could barely feed the three of us. No rice was provided with our meal despite it costing $50+. However we did get a fair number of side dishes, and the service wasn't terrible this time. Im immensely disappointed this was replaced by the restaurant before it; Jeong Ga Nae, which was a much better establishment and has not lived up to its legacy. 2/10. Would not recommend, but has potential for the future. If the restaurantuers are reading this, please make the selection of meats more traditional to Korean BBQ, and if you're going to charge me an arm and a leg for a soup, at least give me a delicious pork based soup.

Friendly servers and attentive enough. Decent prices for the set menu. A few different choices for food and drinks. Their marinated raw crab and shrimp is very delicious. The quality of their meat and vegetables are fresh. The seafood pancake and soup are good but I've had better elsewhere. The beef tartar tasty so yummy but since it's frozen and not fresh that the texture is a bit different than the one I'm used to. Was a bit surprised that they don't have tteokbokki as it's such a common dish and great with meat and alcohol. Their rice is really good, it's purple and mixed with a couple other things and not salty at all but not as blend as white rice. Decent seatings inside but best to make reservation for large group. Many Korean restaurant don't take large groups or need to separate them. Most restaurants can take up to 8 but we had 10 people and it's weird to separate us so Gooi-Ga was the only one out of the other 3 places we asked that have the space for us. Parking lot right outside but walkable to bus stops and the skytrain station too. Not my too Korean bbq place but definitely chill enough that I'd go back again.

We visited for late lunch on Sunday. They are out of pork meat for BBQ, all set menu include pork, so we could not eat BBQ. We took out a couple dishes. The squid and slow cook pork were OK, but seafood pancake was disappointed. The bottom was all burnt and seafood was fake crab and a little of squid and octopus.

HIDDEN GEM ALERT IN COQUITLAM. This place is such a cute hidden gem, if it wasn't for my friend I would've never known about it! Right in the heart of Coquitlam is Gooi-ga. * Swipe all the way to view the menu! * Family set ($110) ~ this was the perfect amount for 3 people! Consisted of variation of beef and pork. Plus a nice amount of sides and pairings. Consists of pork belly, marinated pork collar, garlic sauce pork jowl, garlic sauce beef rib fingers, strip loin and white mushrooms. NOTE: NOT ALL THE MEAT IS MARINATED. Not everything is photographed but the meat was ultra fresh and you cook it yourself here! Came with a side of cheesy corn too and some other veggies and sides as pairing. Came with side 2 different salad and rice too! * Not photographed Soft tofu soup ($15) ~ this was so good! It didn't even have a chance to be photographed before it was all eaten up. Very good flavouring and it was so delicious. Lots of tofu and ingredients inside! We ordered it with beef but you can get seafood too! Highly recommend this! Wasn't too spicy a slight kick. * Not photographed draft asahi ($7). * 9/10 ~ I liked coming here! Nice cuts of meat and you get to grill it yourself! I also like that it came with a bunch of pairing. Plus that tofu soup was pretty good! * 7/10 ~ pricing isn't too bad. There was a nice spread of meat (if only we didn't dig in so quickly you would've seen it all! Total bill before tip: $139.30. * 10/10 ~ good social distancing we went on a Thursday so it wasn't busy at all!

This place, tucked away just 5 minutes' driving distance from Coquitlam Centre, is clearly beloved by the local Korean community. The portion sizes are generous. They are perfect for sharing with family or friends. We saw many families and younger groups dining in, which gave it a cozy, homey vibe. We can taste the love and comfort in every bite. Here's what we ordered: * Beef Tartare Bibimbap - Not your typical bibimbap! The raw beef was beautifully seasoned and full of flavour. This was hands down our favourite dish! * Naengmyeon - Cold noodles in a super refreshing broth. Perfectly chewy with a balanced, savoury tang. A must-have on a hot day. * Japchae - Excellent portion, great price. The noodles were springy and not greasy at all--just the right balance of flavour. Great value, quality ingredients, and authentic flavours--Hansol is definitely going on our go-to list whenever we're craving comforting Korean food. We ordered short rib BBQ, Beef tartare Bibimbap, and original-flavor deep-fried chicken wings. Beef tartare Bibimbap was served in a hot stone bowl with a variety of vegetables on top of the rice. The gochujang sauce was served separately, allowing us to adjust the spiciness to our preference. It was a pretty good dish. The short rib BBQ was very tender and nicely seasoned. It was slightly on the sweeter side, very delicious. I will definitely order it again. The original flavor deep-fried chicken wings were served fresh and hot. They were incredibly crunchy on the outside and juicy on the inside--very good! Next time, I should order them with a flavored seasoning, as I already knew the original version was cooked with less saltiness, meant to be paired with a sauce. Overall, I really like this restaurant. The food tasted good, and the most notable point was the reasonable price! It was a very good deal, and it has now become one of my regular go-to places.

Staff are friendly but understaffed. Once the place filled up they were swamped. Signature steamed seafood pot - definitely on the pricey side, but they don't skimp out. Special mention for the presentation. Plenty of goodies including an entire lobster, half a large octopus (tenticle/arm half), snails, oysters, scallops, prawns, and fish balls among others. Basically everything without fish. Served in a large tray (the ones seen at banquet buffets), and everything cooked in broth. This was enough to probably feed 4-5 adults (assuming average appetites). So pretty. Deep fried squid with fries - honestly this dish was meh. Basically exactly what it sounds like. Squid is tempura style. Nothing special. I'd skip this one. Bossam (pork belly wraps) - served with tofu and spicy kimchi and some vegetable (kelp?) as well. They don't really give enough wraps compared to the pork slices. Decent portion size. My friends and I gobbled this up. This place also serves makgeolli (Korean rice wine) for a very reasonable price. Goes well with the food. Overall my friends and I left happy. Wouldn't mind coming back at some point to try some other dishes. Recommended.

I was craving this soup and glad I tried it here because it hit the spot! Tasted delicious, didn't have to wait for a table, and it was reasonably priced then. Came back here last night for dinner with my family and was finally able to try the bbq items. It was a hit! We ordered 2 of the combo A which was the perfect servings for 2 adults and 3 (very hungry!) teenaged boys. Not only did it come with 3 meat types (thinly sliced pork belly, marinated beef Bulgogi, and one other thinly sliced beef), it also came with soup, banchan, and a big bowl of Bibimbap. We also ordered their seafood pancake which was perfectly crispy and not too thin or thick. The actual bbq grill itself was the best one I've seen at a Korean restaurant because it was non-stick, temperature controlled really well, and it didn't leave us smelling like the food after dining. The ventilation must've been good here as it wasn't super smoky at all. The best dish was definitely the bean paste soup! We all loved it and had never tried it before, so next time we have Korean, it will be a staple in our order! It wasn't too busy last night so we were seated right away. Staff were friendly and while they were short-staffed, they were quick enough to get what we requested and ordered in a timely manner.

Unfortunately most Korean restaurants in Vancouver do not have purple rice. -Cold Noodle (14.99$, but they have a lunch special where, for 16.99$, you get two potato pancakes): At first I was hesitant to order this because I love buckwheat (dark gray/purplish colour) cold noodles, and these weren't those, but am so happy we did. I love the texture. The flavour of the broth was also excellent. My only qualm was the "cucumber garnishes" that, in my opinion, were actually too-sweet pickles. Other than that, highly recommend. Potato pancakes were also very yummy. They served complimentary barley tea, and had yummy banchans (kimchi radish, fish cake, and soy sauce pickled onions).
