Had cataract surgery after having had another eye surgery that caused the cataract. The staff here is very friendly. Receptionist kind of gets to you when she's ready to. She'll leave you standing there and not even acknowledge you for quite some time. (most people just need a little wave or eye contact to show that you know they're there. That's all I'm asking for). This is the only complaint I have about this place. When you do get her attention, she's very polite, but there's just no acknowledgment when you show up. Dr. Depenbusch is fantastic, Austin is also great.! They explain everything in great detail and make sure you understand, provide you with options and listen to you! Go some place else. Office like an assembly line. Seen for eye exam and there for 2.5 hours! Dr Depenbusch wanted to do eye surgery. When i was hesitant, he became hostile and intimidating. He left room before I could ask questions about possible complications or concerns. Consent signed did not satisfy informed consent. Told by surgery scheduler I would be charged $100 for changed or cancelled surgery. read more

Great, friendly office staff, excellent doctor, works well with my UnitedHealthcare insurance, lovely new freestanding facility they built themselves, all the cool tools for testing just about every measure, always get full medical record via their portal after every visit without having to ask for it or download it, and great Wi-Fi! And, they let Clinical Trials be done here. Dr. Depenbusch performs the surgeries and the follow up care, while the Clinical Trial company uses some of their rooms and test equipment to make sure the patients are doing well. read more

I was so fortunate AZ eye center was able to see me immediately and take BCBS! After feeling like I had a foreign object in my eye for 3 days and couldn't get it out, I couldn't see and needed help ASAP. Lupe was so sweet at the front desk, working me in on their half day, taking my info over the phone. She warned me I may have to wait a little but not to worry I would he seen. This was the only office I called that could see me the same day, and I was so happy they did. Dr Depenbush was so nice, helped me right away, drops, recommendations and even willing to see me again the next morning if needed. Such a nice group here. I had small cataracts in both eyes that suddenly in just a few months got so bad that I could barely read even with my glasses. Friends recommended Dr. Depenbusch but I was still worried because I also have retinitis pigmentosa and years ago I had a Radial Keratotomy that would make surgery trickier than normal. I had great results and everyone from reception, technicians, scheduler and insurance filing, the surgery center, the nurses, anesthesia, and Dr. Depenbusch were all skilled, professional, friendly and helpful! I went to Arizona eye Center because I had a cataract in my left eye. I knew my insurance would not cover this but they asked me for my insurance information so I gave it to them. I told them that I have a $7500 deductible on my insurance, and that I would not be using my insurance. They gave me pricing upfront for prepayment and I paid upfront. Then they sent me a bill for $246.72. I called and left a message. Jolene called me back and explained that they ran it through my insurance and that is why I have to pay the extra $246. I told her that I was given a price upfront I paid upfront and she said I still had to pay that amount. Or she would change my Pricing for the pre-visits before my surgery that I had already paid for. Either way they were getting more money. She was rude,argumentative, And interrupted me more than once. I told her if I had to pay this that I would do it to protect my credit. I was referred to the Arizona Eye Center by my regular eye Dr. My eye was irritated and very red. Unfortunately my Dr. didn't have the availability to see me so I was referred to AZ Eye Center. I was given a 2:45 appointment but was told I had to get there 15 minutes early. I didn't make it in 15 minutes early but was 5 minutes early. When I walked in I noticed that there were many people in the waiting room. I was given some new patient paperwork to fill out which I did and handed it back. Then I sat down and waited...and waited...and continued to wait. After an hour and 20 minutes I was finally called into the examining room. The nurse asked me some questions, had me read the chart, and numbed my eyes. Then I waited for the Dr. another 20 minutes. When the Dr. came into the room, he looked at the eye, sent a prescription to CVS, and was done. He was with me 4 minutes max! I timed it. I go to check out and am told the amount to pay. The amount didn't seem right so I asked for an itemized receipt which the woman couldn't give and she also couldn't tell me what I was being charged for. This was the worst experience I've had at a Dr.'s office. I didn't expect to spend my whole afternoon waiting to be seen and not once did anyone acknowledge or apologize for the wait time. I have really enjoyed my experience as a family member of a patient at AEC. I take my mother to this location and both of us have been very impressed with the nurse, Samantha. Samantha is very informative & answers all of my mothers questions with detail. Each time we see Samantha, she greets us with a smile and remembers us by name- making the experience more personal. We enjoy the entire treatment team, but without this specific nurse, our experience would not be the same. After reading some of the negative reviews, I was apprehensive about keeping my appointment, but I went anyway. My appointment was for 1.30pm, so I arrived 15 minutes early to fill out the new patient forms. As 1.30pm came and went I was still in the waiting room and started to fear the worst, that I'd have a long wait, but after 20 mins I was shown back to a patient room and my eye exam started immediately. When all the tests were completed I was shown into another room and after about 10 minutes the Dr. came in and explained my results. I have had one cataract surgery and will have the other eye done this week. Everyone in the two offices (the eye center and surgical center) have treated me very very well. I have recently gone thru breast cancer, been to over 20 plus doctors and have not had the caring, concern and treatment that I have received here. Dr. Depenbusch just performed eye surgery on my left eye, on 3/19/15. I did not take this procedure lightly & actually went to 2 other Doctors for opinions. While I felt all the Doctors were competent, AZ Eye Center, made me feel at "home" and were NOT pushy, or into the "up-sell" game. On all my visits prior to surgery and after surgery, I never felt like a "number".... they treated me as a person. Entire staff very professional, very helpful, very caring. The surgery came out more than AWESOME. I can not recommend this group highly enough. Too bad I can't give them 20 "stars", because, each and everyone of them deserve those 20 stars!!
