I have been using Carrot Eye Center from its origination. Doctor Herion was my eye doctor at Swaggle Wooten prior to starting his own practice with Doctor Hammond in 2019. Both are veterans and truly care about their patients. I arrived about 10 prior to my appointment and was warmly greeted immediately and enjoyed some coffee as I waited. BTW, great coffee! From the first step in, this office is welcoming. Busy office but coordinated the check ins with efficiency. Front desk person so kind and attentive. The quality of my exam was superior with modern equipment that assessed without air puffs and dilation. The cleaning process was systematic and eased my concerns. Each exam room was private with soundproof door keeping the information shared private and personal. Dr. Henson was kind and took time to go over my tests and spent quality time. I have been a patient here for a few years now and I love it. I've seen Dr. Herion each time and he is wonderful. I love that this office and practice is veteran owned, that's pretty cool. Also, I love the high tech equipment which also makes getting my eyes checked is very enjoyable. The equipment for the retina check is my favorite since the pictures of the eye are mesmerizing and high tech as well. The office is also inviting and modern which is nice as well. There's one observation during this last visit, they got a new coffee/espresso machine and it's loud in the waiting room. A family member was telling me about the great doc who did her cataract surgery, and when she told me where it was, I realized it was the same place I'd been going to for eye exams lol. I've been to Carrot Eye Center a couple times now, to get updates on my eyeglass Rx, and every time they've been great. The last time I was in, they did a very through check of my eyes, and thanks to their equipment, were able to show me why I was having a slight issue in one eye when reading. Dr. Herion really seems to love his work, and it shows. He took the time to explain to me what was going on, which gave me a more complete understanding of the issue. They were also able to compare their diagnostic imagery with a prior visit, which was interesting to see. Dr. Herion's team was very efficient and knowledgeable as well, and there was very little time spent waiting. Special thanks to Mara and Braedn too, for helping me out with a question I had after the visit, despite difficulties in reaching me due to my phone having issues. For my first-time experience, the Carrot Eye Center was great. The office staff was friendly, helpful and right on time. There was no waiting. The first technician when through the various tests and then the doctor arrived. He made me feel right at home. One alert - if you want your eyes checked for glasses (a 'refraction') let them know when you make the appointment. The first appointment is an overview of your eye health, not specific to glasses. Waited over a month for an appointment & was told that there was a change in the schedule so it was cancelled. The soonest appointment I was offered is over 5 weeks out. I wasn't given the option to be put on a cancellation list for anything sooner. This is unacceptable after already waiting so long for the appointment & to be given no better options. I had my exam at Carrot and purchased glasses from Costco. When I picked up the glasses, the prescription wasn't right. I called for a recheck and the receptionist shuffled patients around to squeeze me in. She is a gem! When I had my recheck today, they acknowledged the mistake and I asked them to make and pay for the correct lens prescription. " Oh no, Costco will fix it." Why should Costco take the hit for their mistake? I asked several times, because I couldn't believe what I was hearing. I will now pay for a new exam elsewhere and pay to have my lenses replaced. When I had major problems with the Barnet Dulaney Perkins Eye Center, I asked my doctor where I should go, and he told me that two fantastic eye doctors were leaving a large practice to start their own office, which would be dedicated to great eye care and wonderful service. It was my lucky day! I called Mike and got his cell phone. So I guess you could say that I am Carrot Eye's first patient! They performed my eye surgery to perfection, Not only are they amazing doctors, but Mike is an amateur magician. I sponsored him into the International Brotherhood of Magicians. 7-30-25 Today I saw Blake Henson, OD along with Reid who is Dr. Henson's Technician Again I was VERY PLEASED with the care that I received. This was my first visit with Blake Henson, OD. He did a thorough exam and when I was done he explained everything to me. Reid did a great job with all the pre-exam testing. Both have great personalities very easy to visit with. After my exam I stopped over to the Optical Dept. It's run by Michael Oase, LDO. He too did a great job of fitting me with new frames and lens. Michael is very professional and friendly. The ladies at the front desk also are very helpful and friendly. Last Saturday I woke up and my eye hurt. It was tearing terrible and very red. My husband said let's call Dr Hammond this looks serious. We called and he answered right away. He said meet me at the office let me look at it. Who does that? Dr Hammond does! He gave me drops to help w pain and antibiotic. I was in need of an examination due to an acute condition, didn't already have an ophthalmologist, so I spent an hour or more calling around, hoping that against the odds I could get examined without waiting for weeks. I landed on Carrot Eye Center, and the experience interacting with the receptionist was very positive. She was patient, genuinely friendly, and...found an opening just a couple of days ahead. The experience at the office was every bit as positive. Everyone on the staff was very professional and sincerely personable. Not faking it or simply following instructions as with many businesses these days (typically due primarily to a negative working environment). Dr. Herion was very outgoing, friendly and down to earth. He too was very patient, listening to my numerous questions and responding to them all. My #1 complaint about some doctor's offices is the lack of personalized interactions that aren't rushed. I realize this is largely due to our privatized, commoditized healthcare system (do NOT get me started on that subject! )...but there are physicians and therapists who do take the time necessary to get to know their patients' concerns and symptoms without shuffling them in and out. Dr. Herion and the staff here are outstanding in this regard. I was also impressed with the fact that Dr. Herion didn't in any way try to influence me to undergo procedures that the Eye Center provides. For example, I have cataracts but the doctor advised me that he does not recommend surgery unless and until they affect vision significantly enough to create a practical problem. Prior to composing this, I went to the office's website and read the blurbs including "about us." Damned if for once it's actually accurate and not PR puffery. Dr. Hammond and his staff at Carrot are the ABSOLUTE BEST! If you are considering cataract surgery/Refractive Lens Exchange, DO IT! Do it with Dr. Hammond and his incredible staff at Carrot LASIK & Eye Center. This procedure has been life changing for me, and I am only on my 2nd check-up, post surgery. I cried tears of joy in his office today, after being able to read that teeny tiny bottom line on that eye chart! My eyes are not even healed yet, and I currently have 20/15 vision. 20/15... what?! Really? Better than 20/20! I was stunned. I cried. Staff cried. We hugged! More tears! I have been through so much with my health - and my eye health, and I had all but given up when I visited Dr. Hammond for the first time. I hadn't driven in years. I couldn't pick up a book and read anymore. I needed help with my meds because I couldn't see them. I couldn't do most things without assistance from loved ones or devices. I couldn't see at night. I frequently injured myself because I couldn't see. Bottom line, I just really couldn't see due to a number of factors and it had reached a stage where eye doctors were just referring me to other eye doctors and more specific specialists, like neuro-ophthalmologists and no one had much encouragement to offer. Today, my eyes are 20/15 and still improving as I heal. The idea that my vision is better than a perfect 20/20 and is still improving is almost too much priocess right now. I am filled with gratitude and cannot sing the praises of these wonderful, compassionate, patient, and talented professionals enough. It feels as though they truly take your vision, your process, your comfort, your healing, and your overall progress and success personally and to heart. That kind of care is so rare now. My first grandbaby is due in just a few months, and I'm going to be able to see his beautiful face and drive to visit him. I'll be able to read to him and appreciate every little change as he grows thanks to Dr. Hammond, he made it possible for me. He has given me back so much more than my sight. This review is for Dr. Hammond and the ENTIRE (front desk to care coordinator to techs and assistants during surgery) staff at Carrot. First, the consultation was great. Dr. Hammond was informative and educated me about my options and the pros and cons of each with no pressure one way or the other. And he talks to you in "people speak" rather than technical terms your afraid to ask him to explain. Second, coordination from the time of my consult up to surgery day was amazing. All my questions were answered and I walked away with step-by-step prep instructions that left me feeling confident I could follow them. I even got a check in call before my surgery. Third, the day of surgery! Everyone in the room was so kind and patient...holding my hand, breathing and counting with me, never once making me feel bad for being skittish. If I were able to blink, that's about the time the procedure took. Fourth, follow-up after surgery. It wasn't like I left the office and was a "past procedure." I was called several times to ensure I was doing ok and felt confident in my follow-up instructions. Repeat all of that for the second eye. Finally, after my second eye was completed and everything adjusted and locked in, I got a thank you note (in the mail!!!) from Dr. Hammond thanking me for trusting my care to him. Very classy, but mostly awesome customer service that continued to reassure me that I made the right choice for my eye care. I now have better than 20/20 vision and no longer have to wear the glasses I've worn for 25+ years. Colors are brighter and more vibrant. I enjoy reading again! My first visit with Naviyt was awesome, she made me feel really comfortable getting my eyes look at to see if I was a good candidate for lasik. -Deluca, gave me a really big hug before surgery, it really distracted me from being so nervous -Dr. Heroin, did amazing job. He made my experience less stressful for being so nice and having silly socks! Thanks for having a calming voice as well. The procedure went really smooth, just remember not to move or blink. ANOTHER GREAT EXPERIENCE @ CARROT EYE CENTER 03/10/21 Contact Fitting Today I took my wife Nisma over to Carrot Eye Center for a contact fitting. She has not worn contact lenses in over three years, so we figured it was time for a refit and check up. We met with Joanna who was extremely pleasurable to work with and was a very patient person to. She gave my wife a thorough eye exam and then proceeded to properly fit her for a prescription that would perfectly fit her vision needs. Once the proper lenses were chosen and inserted, my wife could not believe how much better she could see with the contacts rather than wearing glasses. She was given a test pair of contacts to wear for the next two weeks to get her adjusted to them. She was then scheduled for a follow-up exam and to make sure these lenses are totally to her liking. We will then order a one year supply of contact lenses for her needs. The prices for 1 year worth of monthly contacts was surprisingly affordable and inexpensive. Working with Joanna, at Carrot Eye Center was a total pleasure, and we look forward to our final trip back to order her contact lenses and have her sight be 20/20 once again. Thank you Joanna and Carrot Eye Center. Carrot Eye Center continues to be our go to place for all our vision needs. I take my family there and they treat us like family. After going through tons of tests on my eyes at Carrot i decided NOT to get cateract surgery once experiencing the pushy and rude sales experience trying to upsell me to LASIK for both eyes. Carrot stilled billed my insurance $1500 for the tests. I asked to get a copy of those records and get a second opinion. After finding a good reliable eye doctor he said you don't need cataract surgery and even pointed out a test done by Carrot showing a whole in my retina called a Macular Hole ... next he referred me to a retina specialist. After knowing that Carrot would have preformed the wrong surgery on me is shocking even after they took the tests. This should be illegal! This company should not be trusted and shouldn't be allowed to practice. read more

After doing all of my eye testing for surgery and meeting the doctors and most of the staff .. I was ready to move forward and plan a date for my surgery. That's where it went south. Sonia in charge of the scheduling and billing was so abrupt, rude and impatient. I left feeling unstatisfied and pressured. After thinking about how poorly she treated me during this sign up process I didn't feel that I could trust the process with this company, I called back the next day to cancel my appointment and get a refund. Even when she said she would give me a refund she didn't appologize or take responsibility. Very disappointed! read more

UPDATE: Changed my 1 star to a 3 star. Upon reading my prior review, one of the managers contacted me in an attempt to make things right and their dedication provides the impression that they're committed to their reputation, which is a good thing. However, I experienced the same issues as before which indicated they did not learn from this lesson, which is why the star rating isn't more than 3. They wanted me to come in to rectify the issue which is difficult due to my work schedule, but I was able to get off a bit early and called to see if the manager was in before driving. I was told by the receptionist that the manager was in but on the phone and she advised I'd be receiving a call in the next 5 minutes. 20 minutes later I called and asked if I should just come in as I knew they'd be closing in the next hour and wanted to be considerate of their closing time, she said they'd call back in 5 minutes. 20 more minutes later I called a final time where the receptionist told me the manager still wasn't available, so I told them I'd just start driving over to prevent me arriving after-hours. The lesson is this: Be considerate of what you tell your customers. There are few things more frustrating as a consumer than to be told either wrong or conflicting information and can cause somebody to lose faith in a practice where the correct information is so important. All in all, carrot eye center is dedicated and I'm sure with more training, they will be an excellent practice. --- I called earlier today to make an appointment. It took 15 minutes to find a time slot that worked, which was 3 PM on Thursday, and I advised them that my break was almost up and that I would like to make the appointment. They said they wouldn't be able to make it without making me a full chart first. I said I could call back at 2 PM (It was 1:15 PM then) which I did. I was transferred to a tech who attempted to transfer me 3 times to scheduling over the course of 10 minutes, at which point my break was almost up again. When 15 minutes hit, I finally reached scheduling who said that they couldn't do 3 PM after all as they didn't have enough techs. Overall a really crummy experience for a first time prospective patient. I wish they'd just told me that in the beginning without me wasting both of my breaks. read more

My optometrist recommended Carrot Eye Center for a cataract that was ready to be removed. I was pleasantly surprised that I was able to get a consultation appointment the following week at Carrot. Dr Herion and the staff were VERY friendly, professional, and helpful during my visit. He explained results from my in-depth exam far more clearly than a different Ophthalmologist had, who I'd been seeing for years for an unrelated condition. Dr Herion took the time to talk to me like a person, not like a patient... if that makes sense. He thoroughly explained the procedure and he ensured that my questions were answered. I was able to schedule the cataract surgery much sooner than I'd expected, and the surgery went very smoothly. The whole team at Carrot Eye Center was helpful, kind, and genuinely caring during the visits that I had there.
