I personally am not a patient at Swegle Wooten, but my mother and my father are. I drive them when they need to have their eyes dilated or have a surgery scheduled. They enjoy going to this location and say the quality of care is very good. I spend a lot of time in there waiting room. I will say it is top notch. It's a very large yet relaxing area. There are several comfortable chair, a coffee and tea station, one wall is floor to ceiling windows with a view of a courtyard filled with beautiful vegetation and the other wall features large screen TV that with HGTV playing. read more

Sagel Wootton is seriously one of the best eye centers I've been to. (And yes I tried Barnet...didn't like them at all). Sagel Wootton is friendly and welcoming. Now I haven't had any eyeball surgeries yet, so I can't speak about that. But for my needs after a bad car accident that messed up my eyeballs and brain, Dr Vize and her staff are seriously the best! Now, don't expect to get right away, Apparently with all the snow birds moving here, what used to only be 2-3 week waits, you are now 2-3 months. But they are worth the wait!!! They need to open another center in Mesa and fill it with more awesome Eyeball Docs likes Dr Vize. read more

My grandma's appt was scheduled at 8:40am. She was told to check-in 15 mins before. So when we arrived 8:19am, she checked in no more than a min. The front desk was nice and since she already did her right eye cataract surgery, this one today is for her left and check-in was just short. Date of birth, name of patient, and patient's company (relative) name. When we waited in the waiting area there were a lot of people. My grandma told me, she just goes inside the room and they take the typical height/weight blood pressure before surgery then is given a light anasthesia but is awake throughout. She said the surgery is just short time but somehow it takes 1-2 hrs. People who bring company with can't go anywhere so they have to stay in the waiting area. After their relative is finished with the surgery, they call your name you and bring the car around to pick them up Today they are delayed. I over heard their machine was too hot. Especially the front desk, they were waiting for their machine to turn on. I understand how it could be. I used to work in a medical clinic. Machine not working and computers not turning on and patients becoming impatient but some understandable.. but as an impatient person (me), I honestly don't have patience waiting.. with an empty stomach and pain lol At this point the Dr. is just trying to catch up with the scheduled patients. They are about 1-2 hrs behind.. The waiting room is quite spacious, there is a small tv and the show playing is home renovation. So besides your phone there's that for entertainment - Arrived 8:19am - Grandma's appointment 8:40am - Called in at 9:40am - Me waiting 2 hours Hope her surgery goes well! Just had surgery on my right eye. It's only been 24 hours, I am very happy with results. The facility has what I consider high tech equipment. I was diagnosed after a through exam. Similar to a eye mri. The staff is amazing and work perfectly with each other. Dr Ramsey performed my procedure. Her bio and reviews are outstanding. She acts confident and professional. Answering all my questions, with honesty. I finish up tomorrow on the left eye. 2days later. Professional staff, so many to applaud. Lesley pre op nurse friendly and professional. 15+ RN. Tiffany. Amending this after a one on one with Dr Ramsey: I was shaking, dry mouthed, and fighting tears, at my follow- up today but saw Dr Ramsey this morning. In short - she defended her "stern" personality (her words to describe her manner) and I heard her viewpoint. And could understand some of it- if I were a surgeon who saw the world and work and people as she sees it. However "stern" to her feels belittling and dismissive and unnecessarily harsh to a patient like me who is anxious and having pain. Admittedly, haveI trauma abuse in my past, and there is a tone of voice that automatically signals "abuse is coming" to my psyche. Dr Ramsey has this tone. She did a professional job of explaining her viewpoint and as far as I can tell the surgery was a success. We agree that the sedation did not work on me, but I am personally wondering if I had a PTSD trigger response to Dr Ramsey's "stern" demeanor that also contributed to the traumatic response- because there is a connection between physical and emotional pain. I would say - choose another doctor if you want normal, relaxed, intuitive kindness and compassion along with professionalism. Dr Ramsey might be perfect for you if you are Asperger's or left-brained or enjoy more of a military no-nonsense style of interaction. On the positive side, my eye is not in pain today and the surgery was a success. And I had RK so it was more of a challenge. For many people this is the only thing that matters. What I learned from this? If I am going to be awake at all during a surgical procedure, I need a surgeon who doesn't describe themselves as stern, and feel this is a positive attribute. I'll go for the surgeon who is relaxed, compassionate, perhaps with a sense of humor and fun. These things matter to me, especially with my history. And thankfully, most people in the medical world that I have encountered are some of the kindest most compassionate humans I have known. We mutually agreed that I need to see a new doctor for my next surgery. We are not a fit. ******** I had cataract surgery this morning with Dr Ramsey. The sedation was administered extremely close to when the surgeon began to work on my eye. (It felt like just seconds and so I was kept cold and nervous until the moment of the actual surgery. I'd assumed I'd be give something to calm my nerves beforehand.) I do not feel that the sedation "took" at all and I was deeply anxious and in a lot of pain but when I complained of it Dr Ramsey curtly said "What's the matter with YOU? Don't cry! I'm almost finished." Also she was cold and rude in her manner before the surgery - when I asked about sedation. She had zero kindness, compassion or bedside manner. I should mention that I am a trooper When it comes to pain. I had all four of my babies without ant pain medication. I was crying in the very short recovery time, about the pain and the awful experience, the total lack of caring or compassion from Dr Ramsey on top the shock of pain. I just lost my father after weeks of caring for him in hospital and hospice. I never met a physician who was as cold and abrupt as Dr Ramsey and it was disorienting. I have no idea if my experience will be any better next time and if I can't be assured of that I can't imagine volunteering to do this again. Dr Ramsey may be an amazing surgeon - I don't know what my results will be - but she has zero empathy or compassion with actual human beings from my experience of her. And I don't want her to touch my other eye next week. I called Swagel and had to leave a message, I was unable to speak with anyone directly about it today. I feel traumatized by what should have been a routine surgery, that was not supposed to be painful. I'll amend this report if I get a compassionate response and can be reassured that I won't be re-traumatized next week and the second surgery goes well. The Swagel facility is clean, modern and efficient. Things move quickly. But in a world that is already feeling more and more harsh, it cannot hurt for those who choose medicine as their career to remember it is human beings who they work on, not robots. A little kindness and empathy and care costs nothing. read more

This seems to be the only way I can communicate the problems with this group. They are uncooperative and use only out of date communications techniques. Their skills may be fine but not worth the hassle. This is my story: I have been attempting to make an appointment for an initial cataract surgery contact with you group for nearly a week but it has been frustrating and difficult. When I first was able to speak with someone I was told I need to fax you a referral from my local doctor before anything can be set up. I did get a referral from my doctor, Dr. Lorelei Miller. Faxing was the next difficulty. That is old technology that no one has anymore! Not even my doctor! I asked why it had to be faxed and was told HIPPAA required it. Sounds very weird to me as no one else has said this. I finally figured out how to fax it to you this past Friday. When I called now I was told it had not arrived, could I sen it again? Again, it sounds very strange that no one had checked the fax machine and found a patient referral from another doctor, especially when you require it. Your receptionist would not offer any help in locating the fax or an alternative method of sending. At this point, your practice seems a little backwards and unfriendly and I have decided to work with someone else. read more

They charge $350+ for a consultation, too. Not only is their website fraudulent, when you call them, the scheduler doesn't even know if they do a procedure or not. read more

This past week I had cataract surgery at Swagel Wootton. Summit Eye Surgeon, Dr. Jacob Koczman was my surgeon. He uses this facility. I would like to recognize the staff who took excellent care of me. Thank you to nurse practioners Ilene and Melissa. They are professional, friendly and caring. They took very good care of me. The surgery is completely painless. Dr. Koczman did an excellent job. It's great seeing so clearly. And no astigmatism. The women at the front desk are friendly and professional. Dr. Janousek did the follow up for my cataract. She answered every question I had without me asking and was patient.. Dr. Ramsey performed my Cataract surgery and now I can see clearly. Botched. Dr. JoAnn Reed did a very sloppy work on my eyes. After my procedures, my vision is worse than before. I have big and small remnants floating around like jelly fish and snow globe causing flashes every time I blink or move my eyes. My vision is impaired. My option is to get vitrectomy or just live with the condition for years unknown. The most disheartening thing is Dr. JoAnn Reed does not care. Nor does the so call patient relationship person Michelle. I wanted to discuss this outcome with her and reached out a multiple times but completely ignored. I am still waiting for her phone call. Now I know all the responses to bad reviews from the business/owner are fake. They are just pretentious show they care. You can try to contact them all you want. No one will respond about your complaint or concern about the bad outcome. See my snapshot of flashes in my eye. I have to live with this for many unforeseeable years. My optometrist said there was not enough posterior capsular opacity to remove. Dr. JoAnn Reed said this removal is required before additional assessment or work can be done for potential improvement work. Oh, how I wish I did not listen to that advice. read more

My aunt's glasses were lost via transport to the hospital and worked with Tami to get them replaced. She was a life saver as I live far away and we had to do some guessing with my aunt's prescription. She could have just said they couldn't help, but she went above and beyond. Took my mom for an appointment at 9am. It took them Two hours and 15 minutes for us to see the doctor. They have no value of time for their patients. Here is some advice... why not book a few less appointments an hour and maybe treat your patients like humans and have some common courtesy for their time. They expect us to come early which we did. My wonderful experience swagel Wooten! I went in for an evaluation for my cataracts and they suggested surgery. They did the first surgery on Wednesday in a week later they did the second surgery. What an unbelievable difference colors everything came to light and I could see without glasses for the first time in 60 plus years. Being a quality manager for the majority of my career I know a good systems are but I did have a problem related to dialysis with my cataract surgery. I had cataract surgery on November 2 by Dr. Ramsey and I can't believe the difference in my eyesight in my right eye which was legally blind due to the very dense and large cataract. It was a difficult extraction and she did it with ease and perfection. I believe that at my one month check up it will be correctable to almost 20/20. Dr Ramsey and her staff are extremely professional and she is very good at her craft. A 15 minute procedure changed my life and has given me site back in my lazy eye that has been basically useless my entire life. read more

Epic administrative failure. My husband was scheduled to have cataracts removed from both of his eyes with two separate appointments. The first appointments he had needed to be cancelled by him due to a medical issue. Once that was taken care of Swagel Wooton contacted him to reschedule. This was done. Prior to his first appointment he was contacted multiple times. Upon his arrival at the facility and when he was taken back to the surgery area, he was told by the intake nurse that he would not be able to have the surgery because his initial visit with the doctor was more than three months ago. Bear in mind the procedure fees were already paid. When I insisted on a refund, I was told that I needed to call corporate. At the same time the front desk supervisor arrived and after an hour and at my insistence a refund was issued. The company failed to follow their procedure in scheduling the appointments costing time, money and unnecessary stress. I might add they did not even suggest he make an appointment with the Doctor in the future so that the procedure could be rescheduled. read more

I read negative reviews about the customer service here and decided to see how it would go. The phone number on their business card was no good. I found a different number on the internet. The recorded message said they were closed. It was 8:30 am. Their posted hours are 8:00am-5pm so their phones, seems to me, should be on. I found a third number for this business and reached a recording that told me, "Please hold, a member of our patient care team will be with you shortly." After holding for 5 minutes I was asked to leave a message. I asked for a call back within the hour since I have other appointments today. I'll continue this review if/when I move forward with Swagel. I did get a call back within the hour from Cynthia who was apologetic, friendly, and helpful. First available appointment was nearly 4 weeks out, but that's to be expected when you're a new patient. I increased their rating from two to four stars. read more

I was in the office of Swagel Wootten on July 18th for a 2nd refraction. I had a pair of eyeglasses made by a different retail eyeglass store called PerSpectacles. When I went to pick them up I could not see out of them. The owner that sold me the glasses said the refraction was wrong and I needed to get a 2nd refraction. Dr. Janousek findings at Swagel Wootten were the PAL markings for the progressive lenses was marked to low. The doctor also advise me to stop and speak with their eyeglass team. I spoke with Diane who works in the area and she immediately confirmed the progressive area was marked to low. She took the time and actually contacted my Healthcare insurance company and advise them of this so they would reinstate my benefits. It took an hour and a half to get seen today!! When the girl came to get me she took me in a room and started asking questions. As I was answering her she didn't understand what I was saying so I took my mask down to speak. She sternly told me to put my mask back on! Then she told me I was getting my eyes dilated after she did the eye exam and I said, "no the dilation is for my tear duct since Izvestia been having issues with it and have been seen for it for a month!". She said let me check with the doctor. She came back and said, yep the doctor is dilating your tear duct so come with me! I said what about the eye exam? She looked me puzzled. I then said, " I just paid for it!" She said,"you'll have to reschedule and ask them at the front desk for a refund!!!" Seriously? Why in the world would I come back! I've been coming here since 2000. The staff has changed multiple times over the years and I have to say that these young girls working here are so rude!
