Normally I love this bank, I usually don't have any trouble. However, today I was helped by somebody I hadn't seen before, and she was pretty rude. She wasn't helpful at all, I could hardly understand her, and when I asked her to repeat herself she just said that she wasn't going to give me an envelope and turned off the camera. I hope she finds a different job elsewhere, maybe a job where she doesn't have to talk to people. read more

When I move to Apache Junction, AZ 8 years ago, I selected AZFCU as my credit union. I was satisfied. The branch was a block from my house. The service was exceptional. Then, they closed the local branch. I have to drive to Mesa to do banking. Sure, I can do most banking through the app or online. But some things have to be done at the branch... so add an extra hour of commuting time to go to the closest branch. Their app and website have an email feature - calling customer service usually ends with the rep telling me I have to send a secure email through their site. Well, it takes at least two days for them to reply to any email, and the replies usually happen at the end of the work day, so problems now have another two days to hear any response to my question. Currently with Covid-19 restrictions, I cannot even go to the branch to talk to a human being - everything is done through their email system, and it is apparent they are doing nothing to expedite communications. Every email response is usually a vague answer telling me to feel free to ask more questions. I am not that satisfied anymore. read more

If you try calling them for assistance or a question you will wait on hold for at least 30 minutes while hearing a recording state over and over how important your call is to them. Baloney! Just stopped in because I wasn't having luck with using the app to deposit a check. All of a sudden the app is real picky with depositing checks. Anyways, slight inconvenience but that's what happens with technology and apps that need updates. Hopefully it works good again soon. Love AZ Federal! We've done lots of business with them. Love their customer service & the app!! We've worked with Amber at this particular branch & she was incredible. Went above & beyond for us. Today we worked with Deanna C. Completely different experience. She looked at us as if we spoke of foreign language, didn't want to smile & would hardly give us any advice on selling our car. The meeting was One of the most awkward and uncomfortable I've ever experienced! Everyone else was super friendly. But I hope to never have to do business with Deanna again. read more

We have a personal and business account with AZFCU, as I am a contractor in the Auto Glass field. We live paycheck to paycheck and rely on having our money posted to our account on Saturdays when I receive my paychecks. More than once now, I have deposited my check through mobile deposit, as instructed by AZFCU to be the only way it instantly clears, only to have the money delayed for several days. This seems to happen only during holiday weekends. Today, 12/23/2017, I mobile deposited my paycheck, so I could finish Christmas shopping, as I needed to pick up gifts for my wife and daughter, only to find out they won't credit my account until Tuesday. This is not acceptable. Tuesday is the day AFTER Christmas. I only had enough left in my account to put gas in my truck. The $1300.00 paycheck was to pay for Christmas dinner and finish gift shopping. So, now our Christmas is ruined. We have no money left for the weekend, let alone Christmas, and there is no recourse against AZFCU for it, as they don't care about their customers, and will make excuse after excuse to justify this problem. We will be closing our accounts and taking our business elsewhere, where we will be treated like we matter. read more

You want your money in a FEDERAL credit union (NOT BANKS) when the banking collapse occurs fairly soon. No - I'm not joking or crazy - it will happen this decade. Unfortunately, they do not allow members to link with Experian like most others backs do, preventing AZFCU members from enhancing their credit scores with programs like Experian Boost. I have been a member of AZFCU on Elliot Rd and Val Vista for 10 years. Their customer service has been okay however their employees seem to treat customers as if they are only to be 'tolerated' till their next break. I was there recently to make a cash withdrawal from my IRA. The representative, her name was Betty, had a hard time dealing with every aspect of this transition. She was unable to give me the balance in my account, the correct required amount of minimum withdrawal or information on the account without assistance from other near-by bankers. She even appeared to have a difficult time reading her own computer screen! I requested another banker, I waited, but instead was directed back to Betty with an overseer. This Betty actually is handling other people's money! Needless to say, I will be seeking banking alternatives over the next few days. read more

My wife and I opened a Checking and Savings account back in 2019. The locations were convenient, the staff were friendly, but the wait time when calling their customer service has got to be the worst I have ever encountered with a bank, or for that matter, any business. Not exaggerating, when I've called customer service, I've been on hold at least 15 minutes (min) and as much as 45 minutes. The other annoying area was the $3 charge for not posting 10 or more card uses. UGH! This is not a traditional credit union benefit, rather its a credit union curse. read more

Moving here from out of state we did a lot of research as to what credit union we wanted to join. We chose to bank with Arizona Federal Credit Union, and we haven't been disappointed. Setting up the account was fairly simple and Sadie at the branch was pleasant and kind every time we have called. Would recommend them. read more

I'm a thirty plus year customer of Arizona Federal. I had direct deposit for my paychecks with them while I was an employee of UPS and continued to use direct deposit there as a retiree. This past month, due to mathematical error, admittedly on my part, my account was overdrawn. I was charged several $35 fees for this error, which I wasn't happy about but it was, after all, my mistake. Then the first of the month arrives, my pension payment is deposited and my account is brought back into the black. I assume then that we're back to business as usual as I've paid my fees and I have a positive balance. Nope, suddenly I realize that my bills aren't being paid and there's a block on my account. After a frustrating phone call, I discover that some third party organization is responsible for Bill Pay, not Arizona Federal. This third party's rep gets on the phone and starts treating me like some sort of criminal and says it may take 8-10 days to free my account. Of course in the meantime I'm going to be incurring late fees left and right. Finally I can no longer endure the smugness and hang up. I plan to close my account this afternoon. read more

After 30 years of banking with AZFCU. Didn't have my debit card so I went to drive thru, sent in withdrawal slip with drivers license. Was told that if i didn't lift my sunglasses so they could see my eyes I COULD NOT withdrawal MY money. They claim it is to protect me. I said that is insulting and would not do it. they WOULD NOT give me my money and were very rude. Said it is "policy" and if I went into the branch I would have to remove sunglasses because sunglasses and hats are not allowed to be worn inside. I respect that however when i DID go in to CLOSE MY ACCOUNTS there were 3 men inside ALL wearing baseball caps. PEOPLE, don't stand for this... this is my branch by the way... however long it has been opened (10 years?) I have been going to it on Val Vista / Elliot in Gilbert... they didn't care that I closed my accounts and were very rude. Sad. read more

This is the worst bank I have ever worked with! I tried the mobile deposit and it took forever to go through so I took it into the branch. They explained it doesn't like those kinds of checks but they would take care of it. Tried to get gas to make it home and my card was declined. Checked my bank account and I was negative. Called the brach and spent over an hour and a half and 5 people later the lady says sorry we will release it. I go to buy groceries and my card is declined again but my account shows over a grand. After 4 transfers and multiple people telling me sorry we can't help you I am forced to leave my groceries and go home with out food. No one cares in this company and I would heavily advise to bank somewhere else. This has been the most awful and embarrassing moments in my life. read more

I am not normally one to write a bad review on a place. But when it comes to my money, I have NO problem. I had a stop payment on my account that was supposed to be lifted as it was a one time thing. I had a scheduled payment that was supposed to come out on THREE different occasions - all in which were DENIED because there was a stop payment still on my account. I called TWO days ago (2/21/2018) and spoke with Mary who ensured me that this had been lifted and confirmed that the NEW payment scheduled to come out today 2/23/2018 would go through. Surprise! I get a phone call from my car loan company that the payment again - GOT DENIED. Now there are TWO different fees on my account with my car company in which are not my fault. I called and spoke with, a Robert I believe his name was, not really sure on that one as I am livid at this point, and he CONFIRMED that the stop payment had now expired as of today. My question for him was, why wasn't this done two days ago when I called and Mary confirmed it? His response was he did not know. I, now with ZERO trust in this institute have to readjust my whole day, and drive out of my way to go make my car payment IN PERSON. I am so frustrated with this bank I will be going today to close out my account. This is NOT Okay. I only gave you guys a one star because there unfortunately is nothing lower to give. Maybe when you guys say something has been done, it should actually be taken care of. read more
