My Norcold N430 would not work at 7500 elevations for the last 7 years. So I made an appt with Arizona Route 66 RV Repair to diagnose at 7100 ft elev. 10 miles west of Flagstaff in town called Bellemont. I was impressed one person reviewed they took their RV to 3 other repair places, who could not resolve the issue, but Jeff at Route 66 solved it. He is both Norcold and Dometic Factory Certified Technician. Jeff blew off the altitude reason. He said no reason why it shouldn't work at 7000 - 8000 ft elev. He said if I lived full time in my RV at 10,000 feet, maybe then I would have to do the modifications. He felt my problem was my flame sensor was dirty. I told him I only do dispersed camping on dusty roads. He said "dirty has nothing to do with road dust. Dirty is when the sensor gets corroded (turns green color) from years of having the gas flame on it". But my flame sensor was really hard to remove, almost inaccessible. Took him 15 min to find the right tool in his extensive drill bit case to get one that could remove the sensor that was in real awkward spot, so I don't think I could do it myself. He cleaned the flame sensor with a piece of sandpaper. Looks like an "L" shaped allen wrench. I learned that a corroded flame sensor cannot sense the flame, so it shuts off the propane thinking there is no flame . No propane, no flame, so no cold fridge. There was no answer why the "corroded" is only when I was at high altitudes, but four days ago on June 8, 2020, when I drove to their 7100 ft store elev from 1200 elev, the flame stayed on all night at 7100 feet even BEFORE Jeff cleaned the sensor. But May 14, 2020, I camped at 7500 feet, the flame refused to stay on the whole 4 days at camp, and my food all got spoiled. Jeff spent maybe 30 min on my fridge, including 15 looking for the right bit to remove the propane sensor. Cost me their minimum charge of 1 hour $145. Jeff spent another 30 min educating me about fridges, and also told me not to let my battery get too low or I will have problems with the fridge. Here I thought the battery was only needed for the ignitor when on propane. Jeff said No, the whole fridge needs power for all it's functions to work. If I was gonna be dispersed camping for many days, I should consider solar panels. Jeff said I should have my fridge serviced and cleaned this way every 2 years. He said the fact that my fridge is still running at 22 years old, is pretty darn good. (Norcold discontinued my fridge model N430 in 1999, 1 year after it was purchased by previous owner.) Now I camped 4 days at over 7000 ft elevation and the flame is strong, the green flame light stays steadily on and the ignitor has never ticked after Jeff cleaned it. Horay, finally I have ice and cold drinks! But I won't be going on another camping trip "to use my fridge" till I find another 5 speed tranny, cos when I was driving home, my stick could not find the gears, causing cars to pile up behind me, honk and honk, or go around me, cos I was stopped or coasting trying to find the gear. Bad synchronizers. If not one thing, it's another, with these 40 year old rigs. I called and told them we were 15 minutes from them and were headed 45 minutes North to a campground with no utilities so we really needed the generator. We originally had a good experience. Everyone was very nice and friendly, that was obviously because they thought they were getting money. We tried to buy a fifth wheel and left a $500 deposit. unfortunately we were not able to get the loan and our deposit should have been sent back. We waited over two weeks before we contacted them for our money. It has now been over a month and we have been told NUMEROUS times 3-5 days. 3-5 days has turned into 30. We stayed one night after they ordered the part which we didn't know was under warranty. They were very honest and told us that is a common issue with the type the fridge we have. Just wow. We had been trying to get our Dometic furnace fixed for nearly 2 months, traveling full time. This was our third attempt and I called them on a Saturday morning from Grand Canyon, after a VERY COLD night. The owner said they'd do there best and could look at it as soon as we got there. We arrived an hour and half before they closed and they quickly got to work, diagnosed it and had the sail switch we needed in stock. Everyone we spoke with was very friendly and helpful; start to finish. This was almost the exact opposite of almost every other service center we spoke with in Phoenix and Tucson. 5 stars guys! Wish I could say they were helpful. Gentlemen who answered needed help with my inquiry for a ball valve seal on a dometic 300 that has an inherent problem with leaks. Patty intercepted our conversation and preceded to quote me more than double for the seal. When I scoffed at the price, saying it was nearing the end of our travels and I was considering using the money on an upgraded toilet, she gave me some horse pucky about toilets being in short supply since covid. Very slimy, imo. I didn't take the bait. I think they prey on RV travelers because they know they're one of the few RV parts houses in the area. My wife & I store our 2017 Dutchmen Aspen Trail just down the road from AZ Route 66 RVs. Dave at AZ Route 66 RVs is able to retrieve our unit from storage and complete the necessary repairs or service while we give him the keys and we proceed home to Glendale, about 135 miles away. Saves me from return trips as gas is expensive. The repairs and service have always been accurately performed, timely performed, and the unit returned to its covered parking space in time for our next camping trip to the Coconino National Forest. Last month I brought in a 2016 Winnebago View with a refrigerator that wouldn't get cold when plugged into a shore line. Jeff's approach to the issue was very professional. He outlined how the charges would be assessed, what the diagnosis process would entail, and then explained what you were looking for step-by-step during the actual repair work. It was encouraging when he found a sensor was incorrectly mounted to the fins on the top of the unit. I'm glad to say that last week when we were in Dead Horse Ranch State Park in Cottonwood with temperatures in the 90's that the unit worked great! The slideout in my trailer broke so I literally called every RV shop in the whole area. Nobody wanted to work on it because it's a difficult system but several shops actually recommended this one. So I finally came in a few days ago. The service manager seems to really know his stuff and was very thorough and helpful. While the shop rate is quite high in my book ($142 per hour) it's apparently in line with the area. But the big issue I have with this business is that none of the six people who worked there wore a mask, despite them being required in Flagstaff. Not a one. That is incredibly stupid and irresponsible with the number of new infections in this state. I would have left before he even checked my system but I really needed to get my trailer repaired. But now that I think about it, I absolutely will not be going back for the necessary repairs. I will have to find a repair shop where the employees have a sense of responsibility to their customers and use much better judgment. read more

My wife and I were traveling to Texas from California for our grandson's graduation from his University. We discovered that refrigerator quit working in our RV, We bought some ice and kept going. This had happened last year and work had been done on it. After spending the night in Williams, AZ, we drove on towards Flagstaff. We discussed stopping at the Camping World in Bellemont/Flagstaff. We did, as we had bought the RV from a Camping World in California. They couldn't even touch it for a week, so we left there and drove back down the street to Arizona Route 66 RV, Jeff was able to diagnose it almost immediately and it was discovered that we needed a new refrigerator. They were able to order the replacement and have it there the next day. So, we brought it back in the next day and Jeff got right to work on it. It was done in about six hours and we were on our way. No more bags of ice. Dave the owner and Patti were able to expedite the work so we could get back on the road to Texas, I only wish Arizona Route 66 RV was closer to home! We might even be willing to drive back there to make sure we get quality work done! That;s about a seven hour drive! The best RV repair facility anywhere! Oh yes! I went there because of good Yelp reviews. Had a leaking toilet in 2016 Travado. They ordered one and scheduled the replacement a few days later. At appointment time I sat for two hours until informed they'd gotten a wrong replacement. Then waited till they found a correct one but said it could take weeks to get here. A few days later, after I had worked on the drawers under the stove, stove went dead. Drove to Rt66RV and asked for any suggestions. They repeated any part of an hour was $143. They wanted to schedule an appointment, etc, etc. I went to an Auto Zone which has a good reputation for knowledgeable clerks. One told me how to manually light it. If it worked then an electric problem. If it worked nothing wrong with continued manual use. This took probably 30 seconds. Auto Zone wanted to help. Rt66RV wanted profit. We stumbled upon Az Route 66 RV's when Camping World closed. I wish we would have know about this place sooner! We had an issue with our RV after a long trip and were able to bring the RV in the same day we called. They had it fixed the following morning. Other places in town take up to 3 weeks so this was a very pleasant surprise. We are having an issue with our hot water heater and since we are camped down the road we stopped in to see if they did warranty work. They sent Jeff to our campsite to check things out and he was amazing. He looked over everything and found the problem. He explained things and answered all questions happily. While he was working on our trailer a gentleman came by because he saw Jeff's work van and asked if he could come check out a problem he was having. I had a refrigerator that quit cooling and was planning a camping trip in under two weeks. I called and Patty told me they could look at it tomorrow if I brought it today. I got there and went over what it had done when it quit cooling and Geoff said they could check it out and see if they could repair it or if I would need a new one. Expecting the worst I was pleasantly surprised when Jeff called me and said that they had sourced out my problem and were able to fix it and in two days it was done. This is the 1st time writing a review however, I think its best to share our experience with Arizona rv BECAUSE I gave them 8 months to remedy our issues and thus I need to take action. Firstly we paid FULL asking price without asking for any discount. Problem #1.. drove off NOT knowing our blk/ grey water tank were full of previous owners contents!!!gross #2.. our oven DID NOT work to our knowledge and after 8 months they refused to offer us a new one EXCEPT at their cost--- over 500$ of which we found online far less..again #3 upon our 1st rain storm this season the trailer leaked at every seam and caused damage!!!... these are just 3 of a few more issues ...they didn't seem willing to make amends after 8 months always using covid for excuses...would NOT recommend with exception of a very helpful person named Jesh that works there...i gave them notice I would write a review about issues and it didn't seem to make a difference....stuck with problematic rv at FULL $$$ ....shamefulll!!!! read more

We were traveling on a 6 week adventure cross country when we had a problem with the vents on our RV. We were camping in Williams, AZ, just outside the Southern rim of the Grand Canyon. We stopped at Camping World in Bellemont, AZ, and they were no help whatsoever! Then we stopped in at Route 66 RVs next door & they couldn't have been more helpful! They immediately solved our problem by fixing our vents. We were so pleased with their enthusiasm and knowledge to help us, that when, the next day, we had an issue with our Gray Tank, we knew, without a doubt, that we were going to return to Route 66 RVs for their guidance and help!
