Starting off, this is downstairs in the Memorial Union of ASU…read more Okay, so if there is one reason to give this place the perfect 5 stars, it is the price. at $3/hr for billiards and $1.50/game + $1/pair of shoes, it's hard to beat the price anywhere else. The arcades (where I may have spent the most of my time of college) was always cheaper than everywhere else too. Though, the games that are not played at all sometimes takes a long time to get fixed. Not all the pool tables are the best, but you can ask for the one that you want so if you play enough pool or you've been here enough, you know which tables have the higher quality felt. Also they use high quality chalk, I've never seen better anywhere else. The bowling alley is also a great place to be at, this place has the coolest neon shoes. You could always go with the regular not-so-colorful shoes, but it is not nearly as fun. The alley isn't always oiled but it's due to having only one person maintaining their lanes. Still, it's a cheap place to go to and a great way to build up your skill for very little cost or just to have a big group without overwhelming your wallet. So, even though this is in the main building that college students hang out at, you can still get in and the employees will typically charge you the ASU student price. Great price, fun, only negative may be the employee's sometimes poor choice of music and takes cash only.

This place is fairly new and still has the brand new feel. They have an inviting entrance with fun signage. Once inside, you're in an aisle of newer pinball machines that lead up to the small bar. Yes- Another pinball/game location that also serves beer and wine (but no food/kitchen). The place has an 80's or early 90's feel to it. They have a lot of newer pinball machines I'm not familiar with but saw a lot of classics that I've enjoyed over the years as well. While the place is around 75% pinball focused, there's also some retro arcade games like the original Super Mario Bros (a good way to make a quarter last 15min). I also noticed almost every machine was in working order! They had a tournament board and a digital high scores board near the entrance. Inquiring more about it, they host some tournaments and also have several leagues that play here. The only downside I found was the walk lanes were pretty tight...if people were playing on machines on both sides of the walkway, I had to turn sideways and skooch gingerly between to not rump bump someone. Also, the place is pretty small so in busy times your favorite machines may be taken for some time. Overall, another great place to spend an hour playing pinball and reliving some fond childhood memories!

Dragon's Lounge is one of those places. I arrived shortly after noon on a Sunday expecting to explore a newly opened cigar lounge. What I discovered instead was something far more difficult to create: a sense of belonging. The first thing that struck me was the atmosphere. Dragon's embraces an Asian-inspired aesthetic without feeling gimmicky or overdone. The lighting is intentional and inviting--warm reds illuminating the bar while soft violet hues wash over the lounge. Above it all, a wise old dragon watches over the room, lending the space a sense of character and identity. Combined with thoughtfully curated music drifting through the speakers--Sting, Pink Floyd, and other familiar classics--the result is a lounge that feels both sophisticated and comfortable. The second thing I noticed was the hospitality. Upon entering, I was immediately welcomed by Cheyenne, whose warmth and authenticity set the tone for the entire experience. As it turns out, she was the interior designer responsible for much of the lounge's appearance before becoming part of the staff. That fact alone says something about the place. When the person who helped create the environment enjoys it enough to stay, you're probably doing something right. When I asked whether pipe smokers were welcome, her response was immediate and enthusiastic: "Of course." As a pipe smoker, I know that answer is not always guaranteed. Here, it wasn't merely tolerated--it was embraced. Conversations began naturally with nearby patrons, recommendations were exchanged, and before long complete strangers were chatting like old friends. If they didn't know each other before they arrived, they certainly did by the time they left. The humidor deserves special recognition. Curated by Joe, it is among the most thoughtfully organized humidors I have encountered. Spacious, immaculately maintained, and clearly labeled by manufacturer, it feels more like a well-organized library than a retail humidor. Navigation is effortless. Selection is exceptional. Most importantly, the cigars themselves are pristine. Even more impressive is Joe's knowledge. He speaks not only about cigars but about the stories behind them--the manufacturers, collaborations, designers, and history that make each brand unique. Whether you're a seasoned aficionado or a newcomer looking for guidance, you're in capable hands. Comfort is another area where Dragon's excels. The ventilation is remarkable. Despite a growing crowd and active smokers throughout the afternoon, the air remained clean and pleasant. The temperature was perfect. The bar seating was exceptionally comfortable, while the lounge chairs looked inviting enough to spend an entire afternoon in without complaint. As for the bar program, my Oban 14 was generously poured and properly served. The glassware was appropriate and thoughtfully selected, reflecting the same attention to detail found throughout the lounge. Perhaps most encouraging of all was the clientele. Throughout the afternoon I encountered young professionals, veterans, longtime cigar enthusiasts, curious newcomers, husbands and wives, fathers and sons, and industry veterans. Everyone was approachable. Everyone seemed welcome. That may ultimately be Dragon's greatest achievement. Many lounges offer cigars. Many lounges offer spirits. A few offer both at a high level. Far fewer create community. Owner Perry and his team have built something special here. The lounge may be young, but it already possesses the qualities many established venues spend years trying to cultivate. Before leaving, I learned about Dragon's locker program. For a monthly commitment, members receive a personal locker, with the entire amount converted into store credit. It was one of those rare moments where I immediately began imagining what I would keep there. My pipes. My tobacco. My favorite cigars. My place. That realization told me everything I needed to know. Dragon's Lounge isn't merely a place I visited. It's a place I intend to return to. Frequently. Mesa has a new dragon. And it's awake.

Prices seemed fair and in line with other local cigar lounges. The atmosphere is very laid back and local. There were only a handful of patrons present, a mix of working professionals and retirees. Seating was comfortable, the lounge was clean, and the bartender stayed on top of housekeeping tasks like emptying ashtrays even while busy. That said, the overall experience felt somewhat unstructured. There were numerous televisions showing different programming simultaneously, no music that I could hear, and no obvious beer or whiskey menu. The beer selection appeared to consist of whatever could be identified from the tap handles and cans in the cooler. As a first-time visitor, I also found myself navigating the humidor alone. The staff were friendly, but a brief introduction or recommendation would have been appreciated. What I did appreciate was that The Yard doesn't seem to be trying to be something it's not. It feels like a relaxed neighborhood cigar lounge where regulars come to unwind rather than a destination built around a curated cigar and spirits experience. Would I come back? Yes. I'd like to see the lounge at a different time of day and with a few friends. My first impression wasn't quite enough to pull me away from my usual spot, but there was enough here to make me interested in giving it another visit.
