This has been a beloved fixture in Arlington for as long as I can remember. The outdoor picnic tables, the quarter electric horse ride, delicious soft ice cream, burgers and dozens of other summer foods always served with a smile bringing summer to life. Nice people. Prices too high for the area, and for the product. Ice cream thick, smooth, consistent, no ice crystals or any defect. HOWEVER - I live an hour away, called them to verify that they had maple creemees and was told they "most definitely do". Not the case. What they try to pass off as a "creeemee" is actually a plain vanilla cone with maple FlavorBurst, which is an artificial flavoring. There are other creemee places on the same road (VT 7a) that use real maple syrup in the making of the ice cream in the machine, producing a true creemee and serving it at about $1.25 less for the same sized large cone. On the plus side: the lady behind the counter was warm and friendly and welcoming, and the whole place has a nice '60s vibe. I will not be back there however; I resented being fed artificial flavoring and coloring after being told that they had genuine creemees. read more

Popped by for lunch on our way through town. It's a quaint little stop and the service was friendly and helpful. I ordered the lobster roll, it was amazing! The bun was perfectly toasted and deliciously buttered. Every bite was a treat! My mom ordered the scallops boat, the scallops were hot, as were the fries! We also shared the onion rings, which had very crispy breading! After lunch we each got a "small" vanilla cone. The cone itself was tiny, but there was ample ice cream on it. Cute little ice cream shack that also sells lunch and dinner. Come for the ice cream but skip it for lunch. Hot dogs and burgers dominate the menu. While not terrible, very average lunch fare. I had a very overcooked flat patty burger with no offering of lettuce or tomato. So basic. Not worth it for lunch. read more

Such a cute stop! Their menu was nuts with sweet and savory options!!! We got ice cream , I got hard and my husband got the soft serve. Both were delicious, fresh and huge portions! A couple next to me got lunch- a burger and amazing looking hot dog! Next time I'm getting fried green tomatoes, The owners came out, soo nice chatting with them! A good road trip through Southern Vermont is not complete without stopping at Snow's Arlington Dairy Bar located along Historic Route 7A. This seasonal drive-in is open during the warmer months serving up a good variety of hot foods (fried foods & grilled fare) and ice cream & cold treats. The place has outside takeout windows and picnic table seating onsite. The food offerings including burgers, hot dogs, sandwiches, grinders, chicken tenders, fried finger foods, fried chicken, fried seafood (haddock, flounder, cod, clam strips, shrimp, scallops), lobster rolls and salads too. For ice cream and cold treats, they offer soft serve (vanilla, chocolate, twist), Wilcox's hard ice cream (15 flavors) plus flavorburst options in cones (gluten free) or cups, sundaes, banana splits, milkshakes, arctic swirls, and slush puppies. I stopped by the Arlington Dairy Bar recently for dinner. The place was very busy on a Saturday night with a steady stream of customers stopping here to eat. The parking was full in front and on the side of the building, so customers were parking in the adjacent bank (not open) parking lot. I ordered the Fried Cod Sandwich Combo with Small Fries and Medium Maple Shake ($9.35 plus tax). I was given a number tag and my food was all set in about 10 minutes, given a plastic fork and tartar sauce on the side, self serve condiments (ketchup, mustard, relishes) & napkins at the window. There were no straws to found for my shake, so I figured many businesses in the region are doing away with plastic straws. I had a reusable straw in my car for this occasion. Anyways, the fried cod had a crispy breading outside, not too greasy on a toasted hamburger bun. The small fries were exactly that, small in size, deep fried golden and crisp. I dipped my fries in the spicy relish which I mixed with ketchup for a nice kick. The maple milkshake was nice and cold, thick and smooth and had that sweet VT maple syrup taste that I always enjoy. We drive all the way from Cincinnati, Ohio for their Lobster Rolls. Absolutely insane. What sets them apart from others? Well a very light hint of mayo, a warm split top toasted bun, totally buttered and then toped with icecold lobster with very little garnish or fanfare. read more

First off, this is a cash-only spot. Just remember that however there is a bank across the street that allows you to withdraw cash from the ATM. The food was solid. The milkshake was pretty good. The price was in my opinion, really good. We tried: Cheeseburger - Unremarkable, but fine Fried Fish Sandwich - Unremarkable, but fine. Choice of cocktail or tartar, we went with tartar. French Fries - Fast food style, perfectly fine. Corn Dog - Unremarkable, but fine Vanilla Shake - Unremarkable, but fine I think with places like this you know what you're going to get. Theres a lot to be said about ordering/picking up at the window, the ambiance, the whole experience. Great owners here! I called tonight at 8:10pm...before I got an answer, I got disconnected due to poor cell service. They called me back. I cannot give enough stars to this place. It is strictly take out but the food is incredible, superb!!! This is the cleanest place I have ever been to. There is ice cream for the kids and judging from the number of customers it must be the best with many flavors. I ordered Fish and Chips and oh my god, the batter for the fish was the best ever tasted!!!!. And the fish was tender, juicy with that remarkable batter that you did not want to let go of. The chips or French fries were really Pommes Frites--as the French chefs would call them. Not a one burnt yet golden crisp and thin--delicious, delicious!!!! After all the bad food experiences in Manchester Vermont this was a great surprise. I recommend this place to anyone. Delicious. A pure delight for the whole family!!!! read more

Not only was the service awful, but they gave me the wrong kind of ice cream, my mother the wrong type of cone, and when questioned they got extremely angry. The Snows Arlington Dairy Bar was always a treat for us for the last 30 years or so. The original owner recently passed away and the dairy bars great reputation went with him. Burgers were always hand made, juicy & tasty. The one I got last week might have been fit for a dog, maybe. Processed institutional type of shoe leather about one third the previous size. Ice cream is the same, but why wouldn't it be. If you're looking for actual food, go somewhere else and come back for the ice cream. read more
