We are visiting from out of town and drove past Armando's on our way to Paris Mountain. We stopped in Saturday around 7 PM to get dinner and to bring back to the hotel. We ordered a giant burrito with shredded chicken and nachos with grilled chicken. The giant burrito was not giant, smaller than what you would get a chipotle. The chicken nachos were terrible. It was a handful of nachos with thin liquid queso poured on top and a below average amount of diced, grilled chicken. By the time we got back to the hotel less than 10 minutes later, the queso had solidified 59 the bottom of the pan and it made the chips soggy that it was poured on top of. There was no other lettuce, tomato, sour cream or anything to go along with the nachos. It was a very small portion for $7. The $1 for 1oz of guacamole was not good value although the guacamole was excellent . A lot of the pictures of food posted on yelp look incredible, we just unfortunately had a very poor experience and after spending $18 for the two of us, we are still hungry and unsatisfied. I've been wanting to try some authentic birria tacos. It did not disappoint. It was my first time here and the ladies were very nice and helpful. The environment is very nice and clean. I love how the culture is displayed in the restaurant. The birria tacos are 10/10. The sauce is perfect with it. I got 6 tacos but my husband ate 5. I knew I should've ordered 10 like he said. I didn't think we would finish 10 tacos but it was so good I'm sure we could've. Will recommend this place to our friends and come here again. Finally got to try the birria tacos and its well worth the hype! Was so good I came back twice! Cripsy shell paired with cheese and stewed pork was so amazing, but even better with the consome! I met a friend at Armando's Burritos for lunch today. I had another friend bring tacos to the house last week from Armando's and I was impressed so I offered it up to this friend for lunch today. I started with the cheese dip, which was just a thin white cheese dip, nothing bad, but not spectacular either. Their Horchata was very flavorful, it had cinnamon and I believe nutmeg, very tasty. The real star of the show were the tacos. The waiter recommended the Spicy Pork Taco's (Conchinita Pibil), and they were far and away my favorite. In fact, If I'd limited my order to the Spicy Pork Tacos and Chorizo Tacos this would probably be a four-star instead of just three. The other two tacos, the Asada (steak) and Pastor (Marinated Roast Pork) were decent, but they were very dry. Armando's also has a salsa bar with four or five different salsas, cilantro, onion and other toppings. During the course of our meal several other patrons stopped in and all of them ordered Menudo Mexican Soup. They all looked like they knew something I didn't so that will be what I order on my next visit. I will say, you can't beat the prices here, the tacos are $2.00 each and for the most part better than many of the expensive taco places that have popped up in Greenville lately. read more

So delicious! I've eaten at Armandos three times now and it hasn't disappointed not one bit. Every time I've been here I've ordered the three Birria special with broth and a variety of tacos(they have so many meats to choose from, but I'm partial to the carnitas and Asada). I visited today and decided to try the horchata and it was amazing! They have an authentic salsa bar which has homemade salsas available to everyone's tastes and likes. The employees are extremely nice and welcoming with any questions I had. It blows the local chain restaurants out of the water not only by flavor but they add authenticity to their service. Always have tacos on your mind? Do yourself a favor and stop by Armando's and grab some tacos. These are honestly the best tacos I have ever had. I can't and wouldn't lie about this, I love tacos too much to disrespect them like that! All of the meat choices are seasoned the way they should be! My favorite would be the asada. I recommend getting them with corn tortillas for a more authentic taste. They have a salsa bar where you can get as much as your heart desires! They make the salsa themselves of course and they're delicious. Their beef vegetable soup is also really good! I always have to add more salt into mine but that's all preference. I've also had their chimichanga which is as great as the tacos! The workers are nice here too. Now that I've written this review, I have to go treat myself to more of their tacos. read more

We drove by this place between Paris Mountain State Park - where we were camping - and downtown Greenville. We decided to stop in on the way back to our campsite. They were having a light night, but we were welcomed in, and the hostess took some time to tell us about the restaurant. She was clear about what they were and weren't - authentic, not tex-mex. We ordered some food to go, grabbed some toppings from the small salsa bar, and left. The food at the camp fire that evening was so tasty. The vegetables were crisp, the meat was tender and well seasoned. The "big burrito" I ordered had just the right blend of spicy and fresh and was so flavorful. I pass this place everyday on my way to work. I saw the sign with hopeful anticipation. I was finally able to try it today with my wife for lunch. They have, by far, the most flavorful asada tacos I have ever eaten. The steak has just enough sear that it's just bursting with flavor. They are reasonably priced ($1.99 tacos) and portioned very well for the price, considering I've paid the same at other places for a smaller taco with less fillings and much less flavor. I also tried the spicy pork (I can't remember the Spanish name, but it wasn't chorizo) and it was also packed with flavor and delicious. I snuck a bite of my wife's carnitas, her normal favorite, and it was pretty good as well. The salsa bar has a wide array of salsas and "fixin's." I'm loco for salsa verde and it also didn't disappoint. It had just enough spice and was definitely worth a taste. The restaurant only seats 35 and by the time we left, every seat in the house was taken and more people pulling up. We got our food in a reasonable time and it was definitely worth the few minutes we had to wait. I regret that I didn't take a picture of the menu, but I'll definitely be going back so I'll get it soon. Do yourself a favor and try this place out! read more

I'm not a fan of this place. The food is okay. I wouldn't recommend getting anything involving steak at this place though. The location of this place is kind of hidden. The parking lot isn't fun to get out of and the seating in this place isn't great. If you're looking for a Mexican restaurant to go to, this is like a Mr. Salsa. I give this place three stars because the waitress we had wasn't great, the food was okay, and the food took a really long time to cook. To be fair, our waitress was the only one working that day and that might be one of the reasons why she wasn't great the day I went however, the chips and queso were really good. Honestly I wish I could give Armando's 6 stars. The amount of flavor they got into their chipotle chicken burrito was incredible! Also *in love* with their salsa bar, 6 different kinds, all homemade, free & unlimited. Their salsa verde even had giant chunks of avocado in it! Seriously good, authentic Mexican. Hubby has been wanting to stop in here for a while now since he usually passes Armando's on his way to Hooked Meat & Seafood. We finally had a chance after we went on a grocery shopping "date" (pathetic, I know). However, we were quite giddy about it. I liked the small, intimate setting as well the somewhat hidden location. The servers were friendly and not overbearing. I know we have a lot of Mexican places in the Greenville area and it will probably take me a lifetime to try them all, but it is nice to run into an authentic place once in a blue moon. What makes Mexican authentic to me? When there is mole on the menu; it's an easy tell-tale sign. I went ahead and ordered the Enchiladas de Mole, because who knows when I will get a chance to again. It had a good kick to it; almost too much for my sensitive Austrian tummy. Husband went for a giant burrito. Dessert though really took the cake. Seriously, the moistest, most scrumptious Tres Leches cake I've ever had the pleasure of tasting. They nailed it! I went there today because I had a restaurant.com certificate. The place is very small but the tables were full with Spanish speaking people which made me think the food must be authentic. After we ordered I went to the checkout to show my restaurant.com certificate and she refused to take it and said they don't do any coupons. It wasn't worth fighting about it but don't try to use your certificate there.someone there obviously signed a contract with restaurant.com but they absolutely refused to have any knowledge of it. As for the food, not bad. Good beans, rice and fajitas. The fixings bar was decent except for the sign that said please don't make a salad. read more
