This is the sister restaurant to Mextizo on Haywood Road. They have almost the exact same menu, minus the Birra tacos. The Tortas are huge and delicious, more than I could eat in one sitting. The al Pastor tacos on corn tortilla are the best I have had anywhere, ever. There is a nice salsa bar with red and green of varied heat levels along with elote, radish, sour cream, jalapenos, nopales (cactus) and other free condiments. Chips are $1.95 for a generous portion, but no queso. We have tried all the taco varieties and they are all very good - served Mexico style with cilantro and onion. You must par $0.25 each for cheese, lettuce, tomato. All in, this is a great little taco/burrito/torta shop. read more

We just went in for a quick bite, and weren't expecting much, but we were in for a mighty surprise. What amazing tasty, fresh food! Burrito was outstanding, meat wasn't chewy at all as you get most of the time, toppings were fresh, tomatoes were crispy as was the lettuce, forget about store bought "Mexican cheese" this was queso fresco galore. Salsa station was clean and they had a gorgeous sign about reducing waste of the plastic containers. Flautas were delicious as well. Recommend cien por ciento! read more

Stop right on this review and look no further! This is one of THE BEST Mexican places we've ever been to!! Their #3 Cubano Tortas was AMAZING!!! If you like a little bit of spice then the little bit of jalapeno in it is a perfect piece to a delicious puzzle! I got the Californian Chicken Burrito and that was amazing but my husband's Tortas was just sooo delicious! Definitely would come back and get the #3 and definitely would love to try out more of their menu but so far, this is definitely the place we will go to if we are craving some Mexican food! So. This is a bit of a mixed reaction for me, but I gave them 5 stars and I'll explain why. I LOVE LOVE LOVE the tacos. I also got the first torta on the menu (I forget what it's called) with the milanesa, hot dog, and cheese, just because....well, if they went out of their way to name it this then I might as well try, right? The torta wasn't my fav. I wanted the bread to be more toasty on the inside where it meats the meats and veggies, and I wanted the milanesa to also have more of a texture (it was a bit soft). I honestly also thought it was going to be a whole hot dog butterflied and placed on the sandwich, so I was expecting a lot of that flavor. I mean, overall, it's not bad but I could see how else I could like it made. The bread is the soft, fluffy kind, though. So if you like that, then you'd probably like this. Tacos were the best, though. The tortillas had a nice grill flavor, so did the meat (I tried chorizo and pastor) There was a substantial amount of meat and the SAUCES WERE SUPERB. Honestly, y'all, looking at and then tasting the sauces in the bar made me feel like I died and went to heaven. So, so delicious. I was bummed that they didn't have the slaw I usually get at my fav taqueria back in my home town, but that's ok. The tacos were delicious nonetheless. I'll def be back. read more

We had the Cuban torta and the steak Milanese torta . They were huge and beyond good! This is a must eat place. Authentic is the key word! Great atmosphere and friendly welcoming faces. To drink we had the mango drink which tasted like fresh mango. Also, the Jamaica "hibiscus tea" was delicious! Ten out of ten stars! Lastly, the flan dessert was by far one of the best flans I've had in a long time. With a total of 23$ for 2 Tortas, 2 signature beverages and a flan dessert! Will be back over and over! I've tried other items on the menu and they are great, but as the namesake of the place, the tortas are the prime choice for me when I go here. The staff are extremely friendly and helpful with any questions you may have about the menu. To compliment the authentic nature of the food there is a salsa bar loaded with pickled vegetables, tasty house-made salsas, and other condiments for your meal. Really solid hole in the wall spot that's clean and nice on the inside. I've been coming here for years and they've been consistently good. I often get some tacos and quesadillas, but they're best for their namesake tortas. Having a penchant for carnitas, I usually go for the #9, which is the carnitas and queso torta. Their tortas come with refried beans, tomato, onion, jalapenos, Mexican cheese, avocado, and mayo, all served on a giant pillowy telera roll. While I like most of their meats, especially the carnitas, some of them miss the mark. The pastor, one of my favorites when done right, always seems dry and flavorless - and no pineapple in sight. Would recommend opting for the spicy pork "pierna" instead. Delicious! Their salsa bar game is strong - lots of choices and a handful of them typically pack a kick. Always feels good to leave with a runny nose. Goes beyond most salsa bars by stocking a bunch of extras like radishes, carrots, crema, whole and sliced roasted jalapenos, etc. The staff is always friendly and helpful. The food sometimes takes a bit longer than other spots, but I see that as a sign of quality here. Worth the drive! read more

Love! Love! Love! I've never had a Tortas before and just had to try this place out. Walking in the employee that took my order was very friendly and asked me if I had any questions before ordering and after taking my order continued to ask how my day was. I thought that was very nice as I really didn't know what I wanted yet and it also made me feel like I was not just another transaction. While waiting for my food, I noticed they have a huge salsa bar with every kind of salsa and topping imaginable. There is also seating area inside where you can comfortably eat in, which I was surprised because at first I thought this was just a take out place. I ordered the La Norteña for myself and the La Mexicana for my husband. These Tortas are heavy and stacked with all these toppings, cheese, and meat. They are also packed with so much flavor you are going to try and push yourself to eat that second half but you're going to regret it because your stomach is at its limit!
