I will start by saying that I come here often. To say that this is my comfort restaurant is an understatement. This restaurant is one of the things that I am fond of in life, and has been a part of many important times of my life. My favorite thing about the menu, is that there are many items which are very, very abundant in sauce, and I have the habit of leaving the plate clean. The sauces are absolutely phenomenal, so remarkably sensible. For many of the items of the menu, it happens that I find new qualities of taste each time I order it. Armando's is one of the only Italian restaurants I really love in Orlando. My family and I have been coming here for years. The outside seating is really nice and inside the restaurant it is loud but you can see the chefs at work in the kitchen. We went here recently to celebrate my mom's birthday and enjoyed the magical dining menu for $40 including an appetizer, entree and dessert. Everything was so good! Calamari fritti, shrimp cocktail, spaghetti Alla vongole, veal piccata, and pumpkin ravioli. For dessert we had the tiramisu and a limoncello cake that were both to die for! I've been nonstop thinking about the meal the last few days and had to give them a good review. We recently stopped by Armandos for dinner and overall enjoyed the experience. We were told this was a great place to eat so we had to try it. We were seated immediately on the patio which was beautiful and comfortable. Our server was very attentive and friendly. For an appetizer we got the calamari which was a nice sized portion, but lacking any sort of seasoning. The batter, however, was crispy and fresh though which was nice. We then both got the arugula salad that was with our entree and it was fresh and tasty. It was a simple salad of arugula, a tomato type dressing and some Parmesan. For entrees we got the Seafood Risotto and the Sausage & Pepper Pasta. The risotto was extremely flavorful and had reminded me a bouillabaisse with perfectly cooked seafood. I would get that again in a heartbeat. The pasta dish was simple, lacked seasoning, but a decent dish. Overall we will return as there are many menu items that look well. The risotto was perfectly seasoned while the other items were very lacking, so could have just been an off night or a new cook. I recommend you try this restaurant if you are in the Winter Park area. read more

5 Star update for the best outdoor date night ambiance and dishes that left us smiling! It's been almost 10 years since my previous review and a recent date night at Armando's begged for an update. We called same day and scored an outdoor table reservation. As a note, if it's not a weekend, you shouldn't have problems with no reservation. If the weather is nice, I highly recommend the outdoor seating, for a prime spot looking out at beautiful Hannibal Square. Things we ordered and loved: - Insalata Fresca, but also the Insalata della Casa. Their side salads are always perfectly dressed with housemade Italian vinaigrette tossed throughout. This tangy dressing, paired with arugula and shaved parmesan is ideal when paired with a rich pasta dish. - Arancini appetizer. It's so good, guys. The crispy rice along the outside, along with the creamy cheesy interior and the acidic tomato sauce creates a balanced, rich and decadent dish. - Spaghetti Carbonara. It's a classic for a reason, folks. The salty and crispy pancetta is the right topping for the creamy pasta. We had leftovers and the dish held up the next day too! - Limoncello Cake. Finish the meal with this bright and tart cake! It won't disappoint. - Cocktails. A note about their cocktails. They are boozy and filled to the brim! Loved everything about this place. We were seated at a nice little table outside. The weather was perfect. Our super attentive and hard working server Joseph made our experience there even better. We started with the meatballs. They were so tender and the sauce is spectacular. We were fighting over it. Then they brought the bread. It was like a light focaccia with a Parmesan crust. It was superb. We had three baskets of it! Then I got the chicken Marsala with mashed potatoes and my sister got the chicken parm with spaghetti that we topped with vodka sauce instead of marinara. The dishes were so very good. They were both excellent but I couldn't stop eating the chicken parm dish and it was so big, my sister and I finished the chicken parm plate and I took the Marsala home. I ate the Marsala today for lunch and it was fantastic. I went inside just to see what it looked like and it was so quaint and rustic with just enough elegance. You can get carbonara a lot of places but this is the best. The super Tuscan red wine was excellent and all of it was a terrific value. Disappointed. We used to love going to Armando's in College Park so when we had the opportunity to visit the Winter Park location we were excited. We were sat and greeted quickly. We were ready with our order calamari, spaghetti with meatballs and a Caesar salad. Our first indication that something was off was when our salad arrived. I have never had a Caesar salad made with iceberg lettuce. We were hungry so we powered through. The entrees came and were as we had expected. Great sauce and meatballs, When we went to pay our bill our food server asked, "how was everything?" I inquired about the salad. She seemed shocked herself as the salad should have been like every other Caesar salad we have ever ordered, romaine. When she returned with our bill she told us she had asked the Chef about it. According her she explained that they had gotten a bad delivery and had substituted iceberg. She offered us a free dessert, which we did not want . But this is where they lost me. They charged us for the salad. I can see doing it if we wanted a dessert, ok? Why not let your servers know in advance so they can inform customers as opposed to making them go out and explain it after the fact? I fear that since the brand change in College Park that Armando's Brand has suffered. Unfortunate. read more

The food here is outstanding. People complain about the noise, but it's a big open restaurant so on a Saturday night a party of 10-it's going to be noisy! Try to book a table outside if you have a big party but also understand that because it's such a popular place You shouldn't give a negative review because it's noisy. I dined at Armandos with my fiancé and our friends (party of 10) to celebrate our engagement this past Friday night and it was all around a positive experience with a just a couple minor setbacks. We have been here quite a few times prior and have always found the food to be fresh & delicious - And this time was no different. The bruschetta is well-seasoned and the portion size is massive, the salmon was flavorful and cooked to perfection and the bite I tasted of my fiancé's veal was very tasty (if you're a big lemon fan, you'll love this dish). Armando's is one of the best restaurants you can find in Orlando that offers the next best thing to an authentic Italian experience (I've been to Italy, so take it from me!) The only two issues I had with our evening: 1) It is very, VERY loud. This isn't really the restaurant's fault, but it put a little bit of a damper on our time since it was such a struggle to communicate with everyone at the table, even those seated directly across or even next to us. I'm not sure what can be done to improve this, but my advice is if you're hard of hearing or prefer a quieter setting - Either go on a week day when it's not too busy or take advantage of their outside seating. 2) It took an extremely long time to get our entrees. Totally understand there were 10 of us, but it was to the point where some of my friends were barely even hungry anymore by the time the food finally made its way out. Something else to keep in mind if you're thinking of having dinner here on a weekend with a larger party. Overall we were satisfied and although we probably wouldn't return with a big crowd on a weekend, the delicious food will keep us coming back otherwise (booking outdoor seating next time for sure). read more

Let me preface this by saying that a party of 6 dined there on May 5! While the streets were alive with Winter Park denizens doing their best to celebrate Cinco de Mayo, the six of us were sat outside in the very back corner of the area. Have to admit, it was quite cozy, albeit very dark and the two candles on our table barely lit the area. Our server was Edwin, and he easily helped us make meal decisions based on our tastes. When our appetizers were unavailable, he helped pick alternatives that were better than our original choice. The kitchen and restaurant were super busy so I won't complain about the time it took to get our meals, or the warmth of each dish. My rigatoni was very good and we did receive free bread despite some previous reviewers saying it was not available. I don't go out for Italian pasta dishes, and this gathering was for a birthday, but if was invited back, I'd enjoy eating there again. read more

We dined here a year ago and had a delightful experience. Last night we returned and it was awful! They offered a price fixed menu option with three appetizer choices and were out of the calamari. They offered three desert options and were out of the bread pudding. Instead of allowing a choice off the regular menu they limited the choice of appetizer to the available offerings only on the price fixed menu. Never anyone in management came over and the poor server had to pay for incompetent management. How does this happen with a 7:00PM seating??? Never again! We came in on a Sunday afternoon with a group of friends that come here regularly. This was our first time so we were eager to try this place as they regularly sing praises about it. For starters they ordered the risotto balls and the calamari. Both were good and they were accompanied by marinara sauce for dipping. Warm bread with olive oil also found it's way to our table, I don't know if this was ordered by someone from our table our they give it to you as a starter while you wait for your food. My husband had the spaghetti with meatballs and I naturally, dove right in with my fork so I can describe it first hand. The pasta was nice, nothing wowed me but the real magic was in the meatballs. It was soft and melt in your mouth kind. Only 1 other place I've been to besides this one has had great meatballs. I had the Ravioli Al Funghi. It came stuffed with butternut squash in a bed of warm butter sauce. It tasted ok, the butter seemed a little burned or had bits of something that stayed a little too long in the heat, maybe the herbs. Excellent Magical Dining experience. Started off with the Carpaccio di Salmone and Capesante Con Pancetta. The smoked salmon dish was good but the Scallops and sauce in the Pancetta were incredible. We could have made a meal out of that dish it was so good. Kudos to our excellent server Joseph that brought us over an extra bread basket to enjoy the remaining sauce. For the entree I had the Rissotto Pescatore which was delicious with a hefty serving, definitely brought home leftovers. My boyfriend enjoyed the Vitello Picatta which had a great lemony, wine, caper sauce. I love their Ravioli con Zucca e Mascarpone (Butternut squash and mascarpone cheese ravioli in a brown butter sage sauce). It comes topped with some cookie crumbles to add sweetness. I like to sprinkle a little salt on it to add a little contrast to the sweet flavors. The Ravioli al Funghi (mushroom ravioli) is very good as well. I don't even like mushrooms like that but these are so good! The cream sauce has a good flavor. Unfortunately, it tends to be very warm inside the restaurant so it's best to go when the weather is nice so you can sit outside instead. (This is a huge deterrent for me). I was meeting potential clients here and they had chosen the spot and made the reservations. It is in a great spot in Winter Park, an awesome location with bricked streets and lots of other restaurants nearby. I was able to park really close, score, and breeze right in. They had a check-in stand outside the door where a woman and a man were standing having a conversation. I walked to them first and they didn't spare me a glance so I smiled awkwardly for a few moments before saying, "Hi, I am meeting some folks here for dinner, do I check in here or inside?" The man looked at me like I was dumb and grunted, "Inside." Um, thanks. It was charming outside, a wrap-around patio with full awnings, cute rattan or wicker seating (I just don't know the difference), and the tables weren't all squished together, nice and roomy. So, I go inside, and its a bit dated, but nice. Open and airy. The bar was directly to my right and then there was kind of a wrap-around kitchen counter cook area to my left. I didn't see my clients yet so I just stood there awkwardly until someone noted my presence. A gentleman asked me if I had been helped, I had not. I told him I was meeting folks there and they had a reservation. He asked me what name it would be under, he kind of shrugged seeming to check his memory and then asked me to come outside with him to the check-in stand. The same one I started at. The two were still there chatting it up. He mentioned to them I had reservations so the woman looked in the book and pointed to the name, he then asked me to come with him an seated me. So, at that point, I didn't think it was going to be promising. My waitress was efficient. She didn't introduce herself, so I don't know her name but she made sure our water or wine glasses were full. She took our orders and they came out correctly. So there was that. The food was good, but not great. Overall, was just an ok experience. Not sure I would go out of my way to go back, but I would try other restaurants in that same area! I had the pleasure of trying Armando's Pizzeria in Winter Park while visiting my niece in Orlando. Beware you may have a long wait if you want to sit outside. We waited nearly 45 minutes for a table on a Wednesday evening. We started at the outside bar with a drink while we waited. I had the limoncello martini which was smooth and tangy. Once we were seated our server was fantastic! We started with the fried calamari appetizer which I loved. My friend and I split the seafood special and I also ordered a salad. The seafood dish was phenomenal in a light red sauce and included shrimp, calamari, salmon, mussels and I'm probably forgetting another seafood lol. My salad, insalata della Casa, included mixed greens, tomatoes, pears, and shaved Parmesan, served with homemade Italian vinaigrette. Oh my goodness this was one of THE best salads EVER!
