OMG! What a disappointment! We came at 6:00 pm. Ordered pizza and salad. There were 4 of us. Salad came. We wanted pepper and no one offered. So my husband got up to get it. Cue the chair collapsing. My 76 year old husband fell to the ground. Ok. Hostess came over, apologized and gave him new chair. 40 minutes later: no pizza. We asked our waiter about the wait. He said it would be at least 10 minutes more. Seriously?! It's pizza! We asked to speak to the manager to see if at least we could get a round of our drinks (3 drinks). Nope. Too bad so sad. Too bad our chair broke in you... too bad your pizza is still at least 10 minutes away... we left with no pizza... Not coming back. And if my husband wakes up with a back ache? If only I could give this place a 10/10 I mean really everything was good. We were greeted immediately by a friendly host , she was kind offered inside/outside availability, she was aware of the table and courteous. We were then greeted by our server Sabrina, she was great. I liked that she was chill and attentive at the same time. It was our first time here so we didn't feel overwhelmed or pressured too hurry up and order quickly. This Winter Park spot is really kind of wonderful for Brunch. With comfortable / shaded outdoor seating, bottomless mimosas or peach belinnis and delightful food options it should have a full five stars.  However,  the server you get here will make or break your Sunday Funday. We've had amaZing service in Alessandro and one other server. After that, each time I've gone that  has been with another server, hasn't been the greatest. Drinks barely refilled, order not taken for over 45 minutes, food comes late n cold, errors on the checks, etc.  My big take away here is that I love this spot and would recommend it more if your experience wasn't so heavily dependant on your server. read more

Goodbye Armando's Pizzeria, Winter Park, Fl., you are fired! Armandos has been our family's go-to restaurant. However, we do not recommend using the outside dining area. We were directed to a table in the sun and requested another table. The server said we could sit at the dirty table which he would have bussed. 10 minutes later, we inquired about the table. He became confrontational and aggressive shouting at us saying "if it weren't for servers, you would have nothing." Armando has spent years developing his stellar brand and service. Armondo's Cocina Italiana is a great spot at Hannibal Square in Winter Park. There is ample outdoor seating and the weather was beautiful the day we visited. The ambiance was perfect to enjoy our meal and glass of wine. We started with the Carpaccio de Salmone and it was delicious. The flavors blended beautifully and was the perfect size to share. The Pollo Al Marsala for my main meal didn't disappoint. I love chicken Marsala and this dish hit the spot. The mashed potatoes and chicken were covered with just the right amount of Marsala sauce to be soaked into the potatoes without making them runny...Yummy. This is always a solid choice for any occasion. I typically don't make reservations here if it's just my husband and I, since there's always availability. They're also very accommodating for large parties. I wouldn't go as far to say the food is authentic Italian but it's delicious and they give huge portions. read more

Popped by here since we live nearby to grab a quick appetizer to eat. We had the mozzarella stuffed fried risotto balls, and they were solid. They sat in a homemade sauce that was the perfect complement to the risotto itself. Our only complaint was that it was HOT inside the restaurant. I've been here multiple times and it somehow gets more impressive each time. The food is phenomenal. I've had their pizza, pastas, appetizers - everything has been tasty. However, tonight I had the Pizza Rustica and the ricotta is soooo fresh, it's incredible. Probably one of the best pizzas I've had all year (and I eat a lot of pizza). Wow, what a disgraced mistake for suggesting this place over our usual Italian Family's plan for dinner at Prato's instead. Sure hate it when an experience like this happened to anyone.... (Spoiler alert: Negative Racial/Asian profile & treatment) 1st (-) sign, we're waiting in line to be seated, and got passed couple of times till we spoke up about it. Didn't think much into it. 2nd (-) sign, we asked for a table of 4 adults, and 1 child in need of a high chair. While there's plenty of larger tables empty, we were squeezed into a 4-top, right in front of the kitchen area, crowded in the mist of other tables with patrons around. I must have stood there, uncomfortably, for at least 5 minutes with a 10-month old toddler in arms while waiting for someone to bring us the high chair that we were instructed "On the way". We even got our drink orders in without the server noticing that 4 adults with a toddler at a 4-top table. We had to ask for the high chair when the server brought back our drinks, really??? (+) sign, the Calamari appetizer was GREAT from the menu. The rest was down hill from there. 3rd (-) sign, we never received any bread for our table, while noticing all others around us did. We requested it twice, never came. 4th (-) sign, the dining room were unbearably warm, muggy, and hot. We had to wiped off our sweats while dining (Hint to the manager, this is NOT a good sign). 5th (-) sign, my entree order was "Chicken Picata". This is the most pathetic picata I ever had, period!! Why? The chicken wasn't even "Egg washed" at all, and there wasn't even a hint of lemon juice for the sauce. Really? Come on?!! How can a kitchen screwed up something that simple?? After a few bites into our entrees, we asked the server for boxes to take out instead. The atmosphere was TOO HOT without a hint of air movements to eat our foods comfortably. Ugh..... 6 (-) sign, the bill arrived. We paid, and quickly left the restaurant to save the 10-Month old from unbearable sweats, for some cool breeze the moment we exit the place in the mid of July, just imagine how unbearable it was inside!! When we arrived home, My Wife looked over the check, only to notice in faint ink that the "20% Service Charge" WAS INCLUDED, that was NEVER told nor informed when the bill was presented, while we left over 20% of tips in cash. I called to ask the Manager about the service charge policy, and was informed only for parties of "6 or more". Well, we were charged for a party of 4, why? We are all Asians. Born in the U.S.A. Asians, conversed ONLY in English from the moment we entered till we exited the restaurant, and still got "Taken" with the "20% Service Charge", uninformed. Humm, can you say "Asian Profiling"??? In this time & age, with all the sensitivities around our nation about "Asian" profilings, targetings, and attacks going around, and we had to experience this first hand? After 2 separate conversations with the Manager about such incident and experience, I was beyond belief with the response, and btw, it wasn't positive, nor were we satisfied with his dialogues. It is really, really sad for having to post such a review for an establishment that's been around for a long time. For almost 6 decades long of living & life experiences in this AWESOME nation of ours, we have always felt "Blended" in as others like 99.9% Americans, till now. For once, we felt the disgraced of an unequaled treatment, just for what we've happened to be "Skinned" with when we were brought into this world. I went to this location for my sister bridal dinner, the service was good , very prompt. The bread with the tomatoes on top is delicious, but the bread is a little to hard. I had a choice of 3 different plates , and I got the stuffed eggplant it was so delicious did not get a chance to take a picture , but portion was not filling in my opinion. Tiramisu was good. I've heard so much about Armando's and it did not disappoint. We came after work and got to take advantage of Happy Hour which is until 7pm. They have some amazing food specials! Make sure to hear them all, could change your order. We came on a Friday during Lent, so no meat but there were so many vegetarian and pescatarian options! Lots of fresh seafood, especially on special. There are also wonderful pasta dishes, ravioli and eggplant. I started with the eggplant and t was served with three hearty rolls with cheese and sauce. It was filled with flavor, I enjoyed every bite! For dessert the tiramisu and cannoli are the best, make sure to save room for it! read more

My entire family and I are regulars at Armandos in Hannibal Square! We love the outdoor seating and atmosphere and FOOD. I alternate between my two favorite dishes: eggplant rollate and the salmon salad ("Insalata di salmone"). Both are amazing and I just cannot venture from them. The eggplant dish is rolled eggplant with cheesy spinach filling. The salmon salad is light and refreshing with a lot of good ingredients! The Pinot Grigio by the glass is light, refreshing, and comes nice and cold. We don't mind that the service is usually a little slow because we come to enjoy the atmosphere as well as the company we are with (and like to pretend we are back in Italy where you dine for 2+ hours!). Be sure to ask for bread as they usually do not bring it until you ask. It comes with olive oil and vinegar to dip in. My 2-year old nephew LOVES the meatballs (yes they are very kid-friendly). Terrible. Went for dinner, ordered the diavolo and my date ordered the pollo Parmesan, we shared and had the worst food poisoning. Nausea, vomiting, stomach cramps. I was sick all night from that meal. I called the next day to see if there was anything that could be done and the manager was very rude and didn't offer anything to rectify the situation and said "we can't do anything because no one else was sick" wtf. Came here for a friends going away dinner. We called earlier in the week to make a reservation. When we arrive it had rained a bit so the manager was shuffling parties around to move people inside since the front and rear patios were wet. The rain had stopped so they asked if we wouldn't mind starting on the patio and in the next 30 min they would move us inside to avoid the next wave of rain. We did and it worked out great. The manager was a very nice women. We all ordered and the food took a bit to come out. The appetizers made it out very quickly and the bar was cranking out drinks so everyone in our party was happy. The food is wonderful! Great portions and incredible flavors. Everyone of us ordered something different from their large menu. Each dish was enjoyed and shared. The one sour note from the end of the night was the server wouldn't split the check. We said at the beginning we were all going to be separate and we knew it would be mixed when we moved from the patio to the front but we tried our best to warm them. It was a song and dance at the end to try and get everyone paid up and try to rectify + validate the bill. We ended up with two extra glasses of wine on the tab which was unfortunate. Overall I'd come back for the food but the would reconsider having an event here. read more

We had Shrimp and Scallops Fra Diavolo (Gamberoni E Capesante Fra Diavolo) over Papparadelle Pasta. Delicious with perfectly cooked shrimp and scallops. Yum. So I live a couple of blocks off Park and walk past Armando's frequently. It's right there, and I've walked past it for a year and never stopped. The Yelp reviews stopped me. There is another location that is better reviewed. I kept telling myself I'd go there, but never did. So I finally caved and tried out this Winter Park location. We called ahead and were seated promptly. The waiter was nice. But he seemed a bit sad that we only ordered water and a calzone. He told us it was on the small side for 2 people. Because of this our friends ordered 2 pizzas to split between them. The pizza's are more of a person size. Though I think the pizza could be split, especially if you have an appetizer or dessert. We saw everyone else get bread and we didn't. I try to avoid bread, but my wife and her friend love bread. In fact, their nicknames are Bready and Bready Jr. So they asked for bread, and the server responded that they are just ordering pizza. It may be policy to not serve bread to pizza only people, which is understandable. However, there are other restaurants in the area that make no such distinction. The server didn't seem happy with us, but he was pleasant. We didn't receive very attentive service, but we really just wanted pizza, so it didn't matter much. The pizza was good, not very good, but decent. They let me try a slice and I like it, just not enough to order it myself. The calzone on the other hand was stuffed. It had a ton of cheese and was delicious. It was cooked with the ramekin in the crust, very cool. It was more than enough for my wife and I, and we didn't order an app. In fact, we were too full for dessert. I think I might get take out next time. If the service was a bit better, I'd come back for a full meal, but that will never happen now. To be fair, the hostess was awesome. I love Italian food. I lived in New York where I was first introduced to Italian cuisine and I felt in love with since then. I try to discover all the Italian restaurants in the area where I live so I would go back to it frequently. I recently moved to winter park. I saw this restaurant yesterday and went to try it today. The food was flavorless. Their marinara sauce is decent, which I like. I ordered caprese and chicken Parmesan and my wife ordered salad with veal cutlets (instead of the chicken in the menu). The waiteress went and asked if that's possible. The answer was that is fine if we agree to pay $15 for the cutlets. We agreed. When I got the check, I was charged $26.99 (veal Marsala price). The waiter said this was manager's decision. I asked for the manager, he start blaming me and the waiter for making that deal. He didn't take responsibility for his action. In addition to that, he said that this time he will take it, but he will not allow it next time, as he was doing me a favor. He has the audacity to think that we will be back to this place again. No way! Sometimes I don't care much about the food when the management care for the costumers. I just felt bad for the waiter I give the place two stars for the waiter. read more

As a traditional Italian-American I am slightly disappointed in the ambiance of this "Italian" establishment. My wife and I ordered the vegetali pizza and caesar salad I may also add that I requested 2 drinks and the wait was unfortunate as I didn't receive my first drink for about 15 minutes after I initially ordered it. What does it take to get a beer around here? Seriously! Do I have to pour it myself? However, to my surprise for how crowded the restaurant was we were met with quick service and our food was spectacular. I do have just one complaint. Our pizza was piled with a copious amount of arugula. An unusual amount that I actually found quite unsettling. Who need this much leaf? What am I? a rabbit? It was around this time I decided to order my second drink. Another 10 minute wait at least. I was disappointed as I waited until I received my second beverage to continue my meal and by that time my food had already gone cold and greasy, making my dining experience even more uncomfortable. Overall good vibes my suggestion would be to add some classic Italian music to make the experience more enjoyable, especially when you're waiting 10 minutes to get a beer. Had a GREAT Anniversary Dinner at Armando's Winter Park! Our server was Jonathan, and he was fabulous! He pointed out the specials and was extremely attentive to our needs. We are foodies and are critical since we had access to some of NY's best Italian food. I had the Calamari for an appetizer and Pappardelle ala Vodka. I requested they add Peas and Prosciutto and they accommodated the request. The service was phenomenal. Our server was friendly and extremely knowledgeable about how the foods were prepared, the wines they served and the creative drinks they served. I never heard of a Limoncello Mojito and it was great! The calamari and the Ala Vodka were legit. The meal was genuinely good. Was it the best Italian I've ever had? No. Have I had worse? Oh yea! If I had this meal in NY is would be 3.5 stars if I could give that rating. Since this os Florida and water differences contribute to so much difference in taste, I have to give this place 4 stars for creating dishes that tasted like they could have been served in New York. This place has such great vibes and food! You can dress up or just wear jeans and booties! We sat outside and it was perfect. We went on a Tuesday and their whole patio was full so I definitely recommend making a reservation. They have their FULL menu too! Not a small little menu because a COVID, they have it all and they even still have specials of the day! There is over 60 things on the menu between the apps, pizzas, salads, pastas and entrees. It was very crowded and they were under staffed so we did end up spending a little over 2&1/2 hours there. Our waitress was great and did the best she could with it being so crowded! The seafood risotto is so flavorful and HUGE! We split it between two people and still took some home. As an appetizer, we split the San Daniele pizza between the table. It had a lot of arugula so stay away if you don't like. We thought it was amazing. Large list of wines, beers and speciality cocktails. They even have blue cheese olives for the martini lovers! My husband and I came for a date night and ordered the Carne pizza for an appetizer :) We couldn't stop ourselves and finished the whole thing! So delicious. I ordered the chicken parm and it was massive! Barely made a dent in it but it made for a great lunch the next day. My husband enjoyed his carbonara as well. A great experience but let me tell ya... if you sit inside, be prepared to SWEAT! I think it's a mix of the oven, open kitchen, and the summer heat, but WHEW! It felt like 100 degrees in there.
