I'm really glad I came across Baffone, especially since they just opened in the last six months in Casselberry! It's a cute, cozy Italian bakery with a really welcoming feel, and I love that they bake their bread fresh in-house. Weird area, but cute store and I only noticed due to my gym runs being in that plaza. I kept it pretty simple and tried the mozzarella, prosciutto, and tomato on fresh-baked ciabatta, and honestly, sometimes simple is better. The ciabatta was fresh and crusty, and the combination of the prosciutto, mozzarella, and tomato worked really well together. I would rate this an 8/10. The portion was also very reasonable for the price, which I always appreciate. It was filling without feeling like I was paying a premium just because it's a specialty bakery. Overall, a really nice new addition to Casselberry! Definitely worth stopping by if you're looking for a simple, fresh Italian sandwich, and I'm looking forward to coming back and trying more of their menu. read more

Baffone Italian was introduced to me this past weekend, and I can honestly say, wow, oh wow! What a nice little local Italian spot. The owner and staff are so kind. They walked us through their menu offerings and also walked us through their wine list. Once we decided on our orders, they got to work, and service was GREAT. We didn't have to wait any more than about 15 or so minutes for our order to be prepared. In the meantime, we talked with the owner, who informed us that they host various community-based events, from Wine Down Wednesdays for ladies' nights, opera night, wine tastings, and so much more. So, that was pretty cool learning all they offered beyond just good food and pastries. I love when local business engage their local community. It is always refreshing. The pricing is very reasonable and, as I noted, the service is GREAT. There is a decent amount of seating. It's not a fancy and frills restaurant as far as the decor goes. However, you can definitely see the Italian influences throughout the space in more subtle ways. The food is good. I enjoyed the Bolognese (which is one of my many favorite Italian dishes). I also enjoyed their pistachio gelato and cannoli. I didn't try any of the wines they had to offer. However, I am sure this will not be my only visit to this establishment. So, I am definitely looking forward to trying more of the menu selections on my next visit. read more

He explained that they serve authentic Italian recipes and have events every week. I did not try their food, since I was there to check out their baked goods. They had some cakes, cannoli, and cookies. I had the cannoli cake, which it was tasty but a bit dense (not what I have tried before) and a regular cannoli. I had heard the carbonara here was made without cream and I was interested to try it. It did not disappoint, very good! Very thing was very authentic; they make their own pasta in house (currently only fettuccine), the pizza dough is made with semolina, and they have their own gelato machine! The owner told us that Tuesdays they have family dinner buffet night, Wednesday is wine night, women get their first wine free and second for $5. We ordered two pastas and a pizza, and honestly loved every bite. The pizza was especially unique and absolutely delicious. I also tried some of the mini cookies and ended up bringing some home because they were that good! Checked this place out with some friends on their Tuesday "Buffet" Dinner night... $20 for all you can eat... it's a little misleading to call it a buffet, as really it's served family style, but the all you can eat is true! It's a really good deal! Food just keeps coming to the table! Non-alcoholic beverages are included as well, including sparkling and still waters - imported from Italy! We were given bread and dipping oil to start with, and the bread was delicious! Next course was salad with fresh mozzarella and tomatoes. It was fresh and refreshing and while it had some dressing, it wasn't drowning in it. Next up was pizza... and pizza... and more pizza! Three different kinds of pizza... prosciutto and basil, sausage and mushroom, and plain cheese and basil. All were delicious and the crust was perfectly crisp! Finally, the pasta course arrived... 2 different kinds of pasta.. one that seemed to be just fettuccine and marinara sauce and one that was also fettuccine but with bolognese. Both were very good. While some of my friends got dessert- not included in the meal cost- I was too full! Great experience and the owner is personable and passionate about his restaurant. Definitely plan to return! I stopped by to pick up some sweets for my parents and for me. The rainbow cookies were $2.5 each and could have used a bit more jam in between the layers. Mami had the lemon Boba cake ($1.5) and said the sweet honey was perfect. She doesn't like overly bready sweets. Pop has not eaten his mini canoli yet because he was still eating his lunch, but he loved the small size of it ($1.5). I will need to return to try some pasta or pizza. read more

We visited Baffone Italian Bakery for the first time yesterday. We became very interested in checking them out based on their Instagram postings at baffone_italian This is an amazing place. The food and wine were exceptional. They make their own pasta in house with old country methods and ingredients imported from Italy. Marco selected an excellent bottle of wine for us. They have a dinner with live opera singers every week and many other special events including Italian wine tasting dinners. All of the events are announced in the Instagram postings. Very disappointing. Over cooked pasta, canned mushrooms were used and ground sausage had no color or flavor. Thick white flavorless sauce (flour not cooked long enough) over chicken scaloppenia no lemon, wine or capers?? Never seen a thick white sauce on that dish. Owner/ manager rolled out a grey utility cart to serve wine to a table and left the cleaning solutions bottles hanging on the a lower shelf, could have covered with a table cloth. He stayed over at that table the entire time we were eating. No one ever came over to ask how our food was. I have a feeling that most items are kept frozen. No fresh vegetables? Very suspicious. I don't know what these people were used to eating but this is gross... this was as far from proper Italian food as it comes. The chicken scaloppina was bland looked disgusting and tasted like no seasoning was even accidentally dropped on it. The pasta bolognese was very mushy and overcooked. The meat sauce itself was fine, but honestly I have made better pasta at home. Look at that chicken, does that look like an $18 plate? No, it's disgusting. I called them to ask if it was an oversight ( I wasn't nasty or anything I just said it honestly wasn't very good and if that was how they normally made it )and they said that it was just how the food is and if I don't like it, don't get food from them again. I ate here with a group of about 35-40 people in June. We were seated at various tables that were for 4 to 8 people. I was at a table for six. We were assigned the owner/manager to take our orders. I don't know if he was overwhelmed by the size of our group even though he knew a month in advance we were coming, but everything was a disaster. He took two people's orders then disappeared. He came back 10 minutes later and took orders for three more people, but never asked me about my order. I had to chase him down to get him to take my order. They served one small bowl of bread for six people. Everyone got one slice and no one ever came around to ask if we wanted more bread. I asked for regular butter to put on my bread since I'm not a fan of the oil that they serve. 15 minutes later I still had not gotten my butter. I asked a different waiter for the butter and waited another 10 minutes with no butter. I asked the manager if he forgot my butter and he said yes but never brought it to me. I gave up asking at this point. I then went over to the manager and told him to cancel my dinner because it was taking way too long. By then I had been there an hour and 15 minutes. That is not acceptable. They also force you to buy bottled water if that's all you want to drink. Nobody ever asked anybody at our table if we wanted more water either. No one ever checked to see how our food was. We had to keep asking for our server. Two other women at my table both had the spaghetti Bolognese, which they both sent back since they apparently forgot to put meat in it. The whole experience was just awful. I will never ever go back there. Bad food, bad service, and the manager even got into an argument about the spaghetti Bolognese with one lady who was even speaking Italian with him saying their dish was missing the meat because the chef didn't go down deep enough in the pot to get some. What a ridiculous thing to say. No apology was ever offered by the manager for the fiasco of the evening. I had checked with other tables and they were experiencing similar issues. Go at your own risk. I honestly have not one good thing to say about this place. read more

We also had the zucchini bruchetta. Everything was fresh and tasty. I'm amazed at fresh pasta at a reasonable price. The server was friendly and helpful. We also spoke to the owner. My husband, a friend, and I ate at Baffone tonight and had a fantastic meal. The owner Marco took time to open our wine table side and explain which region the wine came from in Italy. He's very knowledgeable about wines and shared some great stories with us. You can truly tell he loves what he does and he loves sharing his authentic Italian food with everyone! From the Brochette Pomadoro appetizer to the Scallopine de Limone for dinner, and everything in between, it was all delicious! The fresh ingredients and thoughtful presentation made for a delightful meal. The wine suggested by the owner Marco was excellent. The staff (Adriana) was pleasant and offered great service. We had the cannolis and gelato for dessert which was out of this world! Simple menu and a wonderful display of desserts. We stopped by for late lunch. My husband's family is from Italy so he had conversation with the owner in Italian. He came out showed us the fresh noodles that is made daily for his pasta meals. Nice staff and helpful waitress. It was very quiet until more people came in at 6:20. The food was probably the worst Italian food I've ever had when they pride themselves with being "authentic". The carbonara wasn't terrible but the meat was undercooked and mushy. The cacio de Pepe was like eating pepper, water and pasta together the only real flavor was the pepper which was over the top.
